Update: Wow. So many likes! I really only posted this to share and vent a little bit. I really didn't think so many people would reply to and like my comment! You are all incredibly kind and thoughtful so thank you for that. May you all be blessed in this crazy time.

I'm 78 yrs. old, have cancer and kidney failure etc. and even though I can't get up and dance to this song, I'm pretty good at dancing in my chair. lol He just lifts my spirit listening to him and watching him perform. I give thanks to you, Bruce, for making my day a little brighter.

I met a Girl 25 Ago. 20 Years are we married now. Dancing in the Dark was our First Dance on the Wedding! Thank you Bruce that you have written all these Songs for us .
Almost impossible to believe, I was at that show in June 1984 at the St Paul Civic Center, Bruce played that song 3 times in a row to get all the footage needed, he was so apologetic and we just didn’t care! The crowd went wild when he pulled that girl on stage to dance, we didn’t know she was planted there or that 10 years later, she would become Monica on Friends. Now I watch this and I feel like I’m there again.
I loved reading this :)

My Mother used to listen this song almost every day. I remember telling her to lower the volume so I could sleep. She died of cancer a week ago and I would do anything to tell her to turn up the volume as loud as she wants. My heart is broken. I'm sorry mom. I'll always love you 😢
I sincerely wish you much courage and strength to cope with the death of your mother. I also listen to this catchy song every day, and yes, I automatically dance along. Maybe you too can listen to this song every day... with mom in your thoughts.

I’m 40 years old now. I had to quit driving 9 years ago due to my rare form of non-convulsive epilepsy progressing into non-convulsive absence seizures. My mom also died last month from breast cancer. Sometimes I feel like my life consists of taking the bus back & forth to work, & sitting around the house. However this song reminds me that there’s always something happening somewhere, you can't start a fire worrying about your little world falling apart, & you can’t start a fire without a spark.

This resonates so deep within my soul. I'm a black man who loves old school r&b and rap music. But damn, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG. The lyrics talk about getting out of the rut you're in and going out to start living again. What a MASTERPIECE Bruce
Music is the most beautiful language that speaks beyond skin color and into our soul, our being. I legit love all genres of music, except like old white man blues- can't do it haha. "暗闇の中でのダンス"
私は夕方に起きます
そして、私は何も言うことはありません
朝家に帰ります
同じ気持ちで寝ます
疲れただけじゃない
男私はただ疲れていて、自分自身に退屈しています
Hey there baby
Hey baby

Really? I don't get that at all. Just the opposite.
@@thermality Same
@@thermality exactly, it's a great song but its certainly one of the least "deep" songs he's ever written
I always felt the same way since first hearing this years ago. Music has a way of allowing for communication that is of a higher form than linguistics and this song is a prime example of that. The earnest desperation of life’s struggles and the angst and yearning that comes with it is greatly expressed here. The rhythmic beats, poetry, sounds have a way of expressing this far more accurately than words ever could. Sentences and speech we just a means to an end and a rather ineffective one at that. Music does it better. It’s a strong plea of desperation and also expresses the emptiness and void of “dancing in the dark” that can seem inescapable.
Bruce wrote this when he was depressed. He both confesses to himself and try to get up to fight.
40 years later and this song is still a classic! I love Bruce and miss these times! Seeing him pull a young Courteney Cox up on stage gives me chils! Who would have thought she’d be famous and on one of the biggest TV shows of all time in the years to come… fate is a crazy thing❤️

This is the song that awoke me in difficult times. I mirrored myself in the lyrics, it truly described how I felt and what I was going through in such a personal, clean and profound way. It made me feel understood, not alone, I used to listen to it before I had a test at university, before a great event, when I was feeling extra happy, when I needed a boost of strenght or when I was feeling like shit. It's mesmerizing to me how this tune can convey such different messages and talk to everyone. It still inspires me not to give up on anything. This song is truly magical and I think it will always be my favourite. Thanks Springsteen.

Lindo tu nombre amiga, una canción de Niel Diamond se llama asi, como tu nombre.
what is it about?
i'm younger, than most of the people here. for sure. but even i still have great memories of this song. when i was a small child, we would always listen to it in our beat up volvo station wagon. i remember us on the way to a nature park near our house, singing along. my dog would be panting heavily right next to me. a little later in my life, my angsty teen years, i would shout along to his lyrics about change. i didn't like my hair, my clothes, my face. bruce is the one who inspired me to do something about it.
maybe the most emotional memory i have of this song is of listening to it during a student trip. i met this guy at the beginning of the trip, and instantly felt a spark. we grew close immediately, and during those three weeks (the best of my life) I spent as much time as I could with him. on the last night we were driving back in a big bus on the highway, and we listened to this song together. i leaned toward him, and our lips met only a second after our eyes did. as the streetlights illuminating the countryside and road around us whizzed by, i felt more connected to them anyone than i ever have before or since. we lost contact shortly afterward, he lived thousands of miles away. i thought about him daily for nine months afterward, and he still appears in my thoughts often to this day. he was my first love, and first loss. i'm always glad that bruce shares that bittersweet space in my memory.
i sang this song in front of over 100 of my peers about 6 months after, it was one of the most exhilarating moments of my life. during that performance i felt a rush of love and happiness. bruce truly brings people together!
Sorry, people, I'm crying, to me it was so a month ago, suddenly it is years, people gone, music is different now, I did not change, I am still 28 yo. Why do I cry then
-"Who is that?"
-"The Boss"
Can't agree more!
Absolutely love have no mercy.. back at YA
Yes...x ever and ever!!❤❤❤❤❤🌹👍
Like someone wrote before. This song is bittersweet for me. My mother’s favorite Springsteen song. 12 years ago, she was sick in the hospital and I went out to run an errand. When I turned on the fm radio of my car this song started to play. It was a beautiful morning, the sky was sparkling blue with a nice breeze and a few clouds, but the moment I heard the song, I don’t know how but I just knew she had passed away. A few seconds later my brother called me to say that I needed to return to the hospital. He didn’t want to say why but I knew. RIP mom I love and miss you. And thanks for your wonderful music taste. 😘
I've Lost my mom 3 years ago, and I have the same feelings about that song and many others we used to listen to together.
...
Sorry for your loss
Thanks for sharing.
Shit went dark real fucking quick
I'm 50 years old now,,, but I love it so much this old song of bruce Springsteen... That Gives me a different energetic move.... Thank you so much mr.bruce S.
To see this with no phones is amazing to see! In fact that I get to see him live a week today.
Oh, how lucky you were to see this man perform music like this. Like I said, he brightens my day.
This song is one of my favorites to this day since it came out when I was 6yrs old. My Dad would turn it up,we would sing at the top of our lungs, and dance together. My Dad is now gone 7 yrs and every time I listen to this song it brings me to tears, but also wonderful memories.❤ Especially, if it was on the radio and we were at a red light. Since, tinted windows were not a thing, everyone could see us singing our hearts out. Dancing too.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful story 🥰
@@susanadams8896 thank you for taking the time to read my post🙏

The passion in his voice, rhythm, and dancing is incredible.
And that booty!
Good Coke

His rythm is like a tree branch blown by the wind, very stiff lol.
@@ShadyGrady3 lmfao the dancing is horrendous. Literally where the Carlton Dance came from hahahaa
This song is an absolute legend
This is rock and roll, simple, direct, to listen no matter how old you are, greetings from the south of the world: Uruguay 🌎🎸
R.I.P. to his mom.
(May 4, 1925 - January 31, 2024)
My guess is his mom was proud of her son….
How blessed you are, she almost made it to 99. My beloved grandmother was 5/16/25 - 5/3/88. My mother died way younger.
I think this song is written about his mom’s fight with Alzheimer’s
@@Sangtranfishing this song was written forty years ago, it doesn't say anything on Wikipedia about it being written with his mother in mind.
This song never gets old. What a great era and what an epic singer
Thanks for the love and support you showered on me . It's been wonderful having fans like you solidly behind me this is my way of saying thank you . Much love 😘❤️💯

Me too, best decade of music ever.

This song literally shook the summer of 1984 to its core. All these years later, it still kicks ass!
Does
It most certainly did and still does for me whenever I hear it.
Good times
It's 2021 and I'm still listening to this classic, thanks to my mum who introduced Bruce, I still have the cassette of his album "Born in the USA".
And I'm just 28.
It didn't do shit, scientific discoveries shook the summer to the core
Oh so good! Back to the glorious 80’s! The music rocked and MTV didn’t suck! Thanks to The Boss and many others!❤️❤️❤️
A performer e njoying himself on stage. It doesnt get better than this❤
In 1984 I was 14, this brings back so many amazing memories, I believe those of us who grew up in the 80's are truly blessed!!!💯 12/28/21.. Who's still listening?
Me. I'm from the 90's but I adore this vibe. Happy New year. 🥳
I was 2 in 84 and this song is great 👍
The lucky ones from the 70's! 😉😍
I still listen to this song up till now, and never will stop
I was born in 1997 but I wish I was born in this era
He has made me sing at the top of my lungs and dance my heart out since I was 16 years old! I am now 63 and he still inspires me to sing and dance with his energy, talent, and sex appeal! Never have seen him in person but it's on my bucket list!!!!
Such a nice song. From your comment i can tell you're a woman with a beautiful soul and kind heart. I would love to know you please?
