A few of my friends owned various years of the IROC. My favorite was my best friend’s 85 with the TPI. It was a GT killer. For those that were in my era, you know what I’m talking about!
@@bobbylindvest9911people act as if headers and an intake cant turn these things into like 400-500 hp monsters. Not to mention a 383 swap costs NOTHING.
It may be, all American cars in the 80s were pretty shitty but it's the most affordable 80s icon you can get. 911 and even 944 turbos are super spendy these days. Ferraris and Lamborghinis of the period are over 100k Foxbodies were ugly, Japanese cars weren't iconic. Firebirds are lots of money even though it's the same car. So if you want an 80s icon they are the car to get before they're too expensive.
Motorweeks Car of the year in 82. They were affordable sporty coupes (not sportscars because 2 backseats..for midgets) and are great platforms to just drive or modify. Handled well then, even better today with parts availability. Dragracing, autocross, touring, daily driver, they do it all and they do it well. The Chevy sbc's have withstood the test of time woth reliability, ease of maintance and parts availability. The interior is cool, but jesus the plastics are horrible and can be creaky. Subframe connectors helps. Thank god for 3D-printers.
My Transmission just went out on my 1990 iroc z
Rock solid, took how many years to go out
Ouch. What'cha got in it now?
