Crank Windows are the best. They always work and you never get stuck with rain falling into your car.

Not true, crank window regulators fail at the he same rate as electric windows.
Not to be a dick but nobody even offers them anymore.

I was born in 1980 and grew up just loving the looks of this car. I've owned my share, over the years, of sports cars and sport bikes, but never had the pleasure of a 3rd gen Camaro. I remember looking out the window of the school bus on the way home just to see my neighbor's IROC, and loving the angular and aggressive look and feel of it. I only lost my love for the Camaro with the following generation when I was in high school in the 90's, and so I got a Mustang. It was a chick magnet. But now, looking back... man, these are so sexy and not hard to find. thx for the vid :)

    • @Darkdally

As a response to my own comment, after watching more of your vid - you obviously live in the midwest or east-coast. Out here were I live, in the desert, cars don't rust, and it doesn't rain. No offense but I'd never buy a T-top anyway; I like smooth lines, but here we have an average rainfall of 8" per year. .. so no rust, and basically no rain, and so you can find these cars here, out West, about anywhere, and you're right - you never see them. I mean. You park this car at Walmart and it's the only one, you drive down the road and it's the only one. It's a pity that so many are sitting in trailer park front yards and scrap yards, it really is, but yeah... you're forgetting like a third of the country. Out here nothing rusts and here it never rains (That said, I'd never be caught dead in a T-Top or an automatic, so that's on you lol). Obv though I love your car, otherwise I wouldn't have posted two fucking comments. Liked :)
      Edit:
I can't believe that as a fellow smoker you would ever prefer power windows. One of my cars atm is a '13 Element and the fucking windows have a mind of their own. As a smoker, I need that specific gap, given wind speed, to suck the ash out. Crank windows are superior. As a smoker, and pretty much that alone, I prefer crank windows... that said I've had 2 break off on me.. so there's that. in extreme cold they can snap. I've never had a power window fail... but jesus, the distraction of trying to inch one of these modern power windows up and down as I light a cigarette is beyond infuriating. You know.

@@Darkdally i grew up with my dads 80 trans am and my moms 84 berlinetta, ive always viewed my moms camaro as a discount, bootleg version of my dads car, but not so bad that i didnt like it. yeah, i dont like 4th gens, they look like saturns. ive also got a 97 mustang gt that i drive as a daily and its a much better looking car than any 93-02 f body.
yep, im from pa and it rains all the fukking time along with snow 1/4 of the year, these cars all dried up around here when cash 4 clunkers happened, thats when they went from a common sighting to extinct.
as for the crank vs electric windows, electric are superior lol, ive got a friend that clicks the button, click, click, click like your saying because he cant find the right gap and i laugh because i dont have that problem at all, i have a specific feel to how long i need to hold the button to get it to the perfect spot, the same way a bar tender knows how long to hold a bottle upside down while pouring a drink. it comes down to control, i want control over all the windows in my car while im in control of my car.
anyway thanks for the comments, i enjoy talking with people and discussing cars. glad you like the video.

The ttop pin receivers behind the trim is adjustable, you can tighten up the TTop. And the window up limiters can be adjusted. You can eliminate the leaks. I've owned my 89 formula since 1997, it has a 5.7 LS1 and a T56 in it now.

I daily drove a white 1990 rs with the 305 tbi engine for nine years. Until a 2015 Honda civic decided to slam on the brakes infront of me. I was several car lengths behind him. But still couldn't shut it down in time and rear ended him. Which took out my camaro tweeked the radiator core support on the passenger's side. So you are spot on with the braking performance. That little 305 tbi was capable of 25mpg on the highway when the temperature was right. The rear leg room might be on the small side. But my 2016 camaro is way worse. I'm planning on getting ride of the 2016 to restore my wrecked 90 rs. I'd rather daily a third gen then the sixth. The sixth gen has no rear seat or trunk space. The 3.6l v6 gets 33mpg highway though...lol

I prefer hand crank windows for their simplicity. Power window (on the driver's side) seems like an annoying gimmick to me, like digital dashboards, that I'd rather delete.
I don't like waiting for an electric motor to slowly, hopefully move the window and worrying about it failing.
I think the only failure I've seen on hand cranks has been the handle itself which is simpler to fix than digging into a power window mechanism.
However - I agree that power windows are convenient for the passenger side.
I've been needing to do some repairs on the driver's door of my Fiero. Back when I was getting parts, I actually thought about converting the driver's door to hand crank but keeping power on the passenger side. I think that should be a factory option but I've never heard of any car offering such a thing.
I love 3rd gens, wish I could own one but I think the window of opportunity has passed for me. I've read people say the later models improved the build quality somewhat but I don't know myself. Personally I would not want an airbag era car though, not only because of the airbag wheels but also because they got too modern in the interior and the exteriors got too embellished.
I think the earlier cars like your 84 look the best. Early 3g Firebirds look good to me but that awful nose they added in 1990 ruined the Firebird line for life. The 4th gens were worse, and the late 4th gens were so much even worser I still can't believe it wasn't a joke.
I sometimes browse the forums and it does seem like these cars suffer from more hacking up than any car I know. I guess because it's the first generation of "electronicated" F-Bodies. Many owners will hack up anything they don't understand to get away from the electronics instead of learning how any of it works. I can sympathize, but the electronics on these OBD-1 era cars are very simple and don't lock anybody out from messing with their car. There's only a few sensors and they're all simple analog signals that anybody can probe with a simple multimeter.
The most complicated thing in the car is a ~1MHz ECM with a chip that has been reverse engineered and can be reprogrammed by anybody with freely available software. You can also datalog and troubleshoot with a laptop and a $15 cable. It's pretty nice to be able to mess with that sometimes. It's not like a modern car where the electronics *are* a black box that keeps you confused and locked out.

    • @karlgustov9648
      @karlgustov9648 Год назад

They're fun to look at, but the mileage and performance are both disappointing.
Build quality was hit or miss. Mostly miss.
As far as hack jobs go, these things were under $8k when new. They got beat on by their original owners for 100k miles, then spent the next 20 years as $1500 disposables on the second hand market.

It's like I push the gas lightly and it takes like a second to accelerate. During that time the rpm drops. If I step on it then it's quicker but it's bucking a violently and I can't figure it out why. Also it tends to be better when it's cold outside. Right now it's around 0 Celsius (32 F) and it drives so much smoother. Any suggestion would be helpful

If I add a sub, I'll lose trunk space (in Hungary you don't want to keep anything on a backseat on public parkings).
I would add steering as a con, I have a '85 IROC but that steering with hundred of joints is just too loosey.

Here's the problem driving an older car like this no matter what car.,, if it's 20yrs or more older then unfortunately no other drivers will respect it on the road, other words no one will respect it and share the road with you, they will only respect it when it's parked or your getting gas but as soon as you drive off then watch your mirrors a little more closer than you would normally your actual daily car, you'll notice you'll have so many ignorant maggots tailgating you and others infront about to enter the road will merge in front barely giving you time to react to their ignorant stupidity, I'm telling you this with true sincerity, so it's best to install front and rear dashcams and only drive it 3 days a week instead of 7 days a week,. Sucks to say all this but it's just the reality of how it is on road with an older car restored or not, weather it's a Mustang, Corvette, Iroc, Ferrari, Porsche, Belair, Impala, Challenger... Good luck when you drive it and enjoy it as long as you can!
