    • Budget Build start to ...
    Hey guys welcome to today's video. in today's video I traveled to Saskatchewan to pick up a 1983 Chevrolet Z28 Camaro. bring it to town, give it its first wash after it's been sitting for a while. bring it back to the shop and try and get this 305 in the Camaro to run and drive. will it run??? I don't know too much about this forgotten Camaro When I purchase it off the owner I mostly dealt with his grandmother at the time. she said he had it for a while and then basically lost interest in it and it's been sitting ever since. let's get another third gen Camaro back on the road. I will be doing a full paint series on this car leave in the comment section guys what color do you think we should paint this I definitely would like to hear your opinions on the paint.

    As a red 1983 Z28 owner, i may be biased, but i really think you should keep it the factory red with its silver ground effects like it is. Also, from the factory, this car wouldve had orange stripes just above the ground effects all the way around the car. Dont forget the stripes, they really make these red cars pop!

      Lota of people are loving the orginal Red color on this Camaro it looks great with the silver Z28 ground effects kit. I juat Google that stripe I'll definitely be adding it of I go with this colors 👍🏻

      I agree 2ith u about the Rootbeer color...Its already been repainted anyways...Do u know if it was origionally red? Most red ones I have seen have had the black or grey interior...That buckskin doesnt match red very well....

    The early third gens (82-84) are definitely my favorite. Mainly because that's what I had in high school but I also just like the front end, hood, and tail lights better.

    • @fullyloadedkustoms
      @fullyloadedkustoms  10 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah I'm definitely a fan of these ones especially since the motors were all carbureted. Definitely make some a lot easier to work with having the less electronics in them. Same here I always like that front end of the earlier 3rd gens too. What year and color was your Camaro in high school?

    Arizona here! It’s 65-70 degrees every day right now. But, we pay for it in the summertime. My first car was a red 85 Camaro, so great to see this one get a new life again!

      Oh nice that sounds like great weather compared to out here lol. But I've seen some of the temperatures there in the summertime it definitely gets hot. Have to plan to take a trip down to Arizona sometime for a cruise I've never been to that area before it would make for a great road trip. Oh nice that's awesome my first car wasn't 83 Camaro lock to my friends in high school either had a 3rd gen Firebird or a 3rd gen Camaro. Awesome cars to have. I can't wait to tear into this one and get it torn down and ready for paint

      Keep it red…and add one of those stupid black vinyl bras to needlessly complicated and cluttered. My 83 was in much better shape, had 15” Punch woofers where the back seat is supposed to be. And I had the most ingenious custom multi-faceted auto anti-theft system…. A kill switch wired up so you had to push the cigarette lighter in to get it to start. Lol!

Oh yeah for Acoustics for sound systems they sound great. My 83 Camaro had the box that Six Flag with the rear hatch and when you get the base bouncing off the glass it sounds really good. Awesome the brush hack for the vacuum works so much better than the Plastics

    It always amazes me how someone has money for things like LED light strips and aftermarket stereos and subs but not for essentials like a power steering pump repair.

    • @fullyloadedkustoms
      @fullyloadedkustoms  10 месяцев назад

      Yeah exactly this car was decked out with tons of LED lights big sound system and stereo and speakers. And then more than likely it was parked because of the squealing they were hearing under the hood which turned out just to be a belt that needed to be tightened up. I'm pretty sure they thought it was a bad power steering pump that's why they jammed it full of fluid.

    Upgrade the stock heads and intake to ‘96-03 Vortec for a 50 horsepower increase. If you can find it, also update the gauge cluster speedometer. It’s a nice appearance upgrade. The double pointer will become a single and have a 145 mph speedometer with the Z28 logo stamped on the background.

    • @alertgasper
      @alertgasper 10 месяцев назад +1

      aw man, i always dug the cheesy "cheap compass toy" speedos of this year. 305 Vortec heads would be a good idea if you can find ones not cracked between the valves. i can't remember if they have the same issue with the intake manifold bolts--an early set of ported heads is almost worthwhile just so you can get a $50 aftermarket intake to slap on.
      Funny how it was common to do a stroker on a Mustang but few tried stroking the 305 to 334 cid. took less time to swap a Vortec 350 since the 305 would already be out.

      Yesh I would definitely like to do some upgrades on this Camaro. It deserves it for sure. Yeah that Z28 upgraded garage would be nice. I didn't realize they had rhe double pointer in the z28s I figured that was only a Beretta or Sports coupe Camaro gauge package

    Seeing this car made me very sad. I was a Finance Manager at a car dealership in California during the "Cash 4 Clunkers" Program. I was off for a couple of days, and when I got back in, I saw that we had already salted the motor of a 1984 Z-28. It had 4,000 miles on the odometer. I almost cried. The program gave that owner $4500 for the Z28. It was only worth about $4000 at the time (and it was Dk Brown on Tan). I did manage to buy out a $90,000 1993 Land Rover Defender 110 for $4500! It also made me sad that I saw several other Defenders (90s and 110s) that had been destroyed. People just didn't know what they were.

      Oh wow 1984 Z28 with only 4500 miles on the car that's wild that would be such an amazing find now a days to come across that for sure. That's just it people didn't know what they had or the value of what it could be. I'm 39 and in high school (1999) I remember stopping to check out a 69 dodge charger with a 440 for sale parked on front lawn off the highways in north bay ont for sale $5000 and now people sell those shells for like 15k it's crazy haha this why we need time machines haha go back and save these cars

    • @fullyloadedkustoms

      Yeah It definitely would be nice to put a LS swap in there for sure. Give the Camaro something a little bit more powerful than a 305. I would love to paint it house of kolor candy Brandywine I think we make a really nice color on that car as well. House of kolor also makes a really nice candy apple red

      @@fullyloadedkustoms Yeah, i believe the LS would give the Camaro the power the designers of the time really wanted to give it. We both know how the governments ruined all of that.
      The 305’s can be built to make decent power but by the time you spend that kind of money you could’ve spent a bit less or about the same and picked up a nice used LS3 or even LS7 either online or at your local wrecking/junk yard and still get more power in their stock form.
      A candy Brandywine would look really good as well. Adding the candy and sometimes pearl makes all the difference in the color and appearance and Brandywine is one of those colors that they make look really good.

      For this one I paid $1500 Canadian for it. Yesh they said it's got something wrong with the motor and it hasn't ran for a while and was towed into that spot with the tractor. And from what I could tell it was because of that loose Belt making all the noise haha I guess they thought there was something wrong with it. $500 for a stick shift Trans Am that's such a great deal. I haven't painted this one yet but so far the most requested paint Color scheme is Red and Silver.

      @@fullyloadedkustoms That's awesome, I look forward to seeing more. My 91 Trans Am is maroon with a grey cloth interior, it is a GTA model so it has the gold badges and wheels. I would have really loved to have found a Trans Am in metallic blue like your 91 Firebird, which also is a nice car with a super nice interior. I haven't started my Trans Am in a few months so I plan on doing a cold start video of the car this week.

    Excellent video as always, can't wait to see this f-body being restored to former glory.
    Don't worry about the zed thing, here in EU we initially learn British English so it's also "zed" for me 😄 - and in my native language German it's "zett", which is close to "zed" as well :). It's winter time here as well now, close to 0°C, it's gonna snow soon...I used to like winter, but the older you get the less you like it 😄. I never liked hot weather either, so I enjoy spring and fall the most when it's around 15-20 °C.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean used to like winter as a kid now that I'm in my 30s I really don't have much use for it haha. I would definitely prefer a longer car show season and golf season now haha. Yeah we're going to get hit with snow and cold weather here right away too. I am thrilled to have discovered your show and the impactful mission you're undertaking. Reviving these cars and putting them back on the road, restored to their prime, represents the epitome of upcycling. We've embarked on a similar journey, having rescued a Jeep YJ from a scrapyard, meticulously restoring it, and then taking it a step further by electrifying it entirely! We've retained the original look and functionalities of this iconic vehicle, enhancing its power beyond its original capabilities.
    The message you convey is exceptionally vital, especially in today's economic and environmental landscape. Salvaging these classic cars serves as a brilliant solution. Kudos to you! I have a deep affection for the z28 Camaro, and it's likely next on my list for restoration and electrification. Here's a brief video showcasing the inspiring story of our electrified Jeep. ruclips.net/video/rHe_osRXWZ0/видео.html

    I turned 16 in 1988 and my first car was a 1985 IROC-Z with the LB9 TPI 305. I haven’t driven a third gen since I sold that car around 1993. I have so many fond memories associated with that car. Im completely out of garage space ( I’m even storing one car at my father’s house) and I am in no way wanting to sell any of my cars…. But I am jonesing for a 3rd gen Camaro. Hey, a red 1987 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z28 305 5.0Liter V8 TPI With race homo-legation undercarriage and 5 speed manual Borg-Warner drivetrain with 4 diskbrakes owner here, Please keep her Red and by all means do not upgrade the engine (LS-swap or someting) because you will chew up your entire Borg-Warner drivetrain. If you must LS-Swap this Camaro, then swap out the entire drive train as wel, capable to handle the Horse power and Torque the LS in the end comes with. And please when you turn off the engine by key, the power really is off when you press down the key release button behind the key so you can turn the key all the way back so both arrows on the key/contact actually point to each other.... ask me how I know....

    Charcoal grey...btw,GREAT FIND, GREAT JOB ! The only thing I would do is, take the rear spoiler off the Camaro and put on a wing like the one on the Trans am...OR same yr as the camaro.

      Hey thanks I appreciate that, it was definitely a great find to come across this Camaro. Glad I stopped and knocked on the door to find out if it was for sale. Oh that's a cool idea I don't think I've seen that done before

    305 Is a good engine but it doesn't belong in a z28. If you want to keep the carburetor I would at least put a 350 in there. U can do what u want with it but you won't get a better transmission than the 4L60E, it's rugged trans. You can do what you want with it but I would swap it for an LS1/4L60E combo and just throw 370 in the rear end. It's a good combo

      An Ls1 swap with the 4L60E would make that Camaro pretty badass to drive and definitely give it some more horse power it deserves

    That sure looks VERY familiar, I had a 1983 Z28 a couple years ago, canadian car as well so no computer control, no AC, TH200C, red on silver, but it had no option and base interior in charcoal. It had the funny clock in the center console you got if you didn't order a radio. It was so basic it didn't have rear speakers or even the openings for them in the rear panel, and no antenna hole in the fender either. Sweet car, not fast but a simple lovely cruiser.

      Oh nice that's right on so you pretty much had the identical looking car that's cool. Yeah exactly it would make for a great Cruiser. I would really like to redo this Camaro or the 91 Firebird over the winter time and take one of those two. And drive it across Canada which is roughly 2600 miles to my hometown in Pembroke Ontario and help my younger brother paint his 87 Cutlass in the spring. Would definitely make for a great road trip and would also help my younger brother good also get my family in some more RUclips videos would make for a great time

    I have an 87 Z28 and it was red like yours and I got side swiped on the passenger side door and fender and my body guy who was supposed to be my friend talked me into painting it Viper blue because he owned a couple of them and gave me a break on the paint. My interior is black cloth seats . Long story short, I wished I had left it pull me over red 😂!!! Although that maroon looked pretty nice too. Your call sir. Another third gen back on the road. Awesome 👍🏻!!!
