Great video! It was nerve wracking everytime it almost started haha! Also learned a lot about the VATS system and I'm sure it will help others. I like how you explain what you're doing, and nice clear close ups. Thanks for putting the time and effort into this video. Was fun to watch!
It was definitely a great learning experience dealing with the VATS system and hopefully the Gator by pass module will help other people who may be in the same situation I was.
I had a 92 park avenue with the "computer chip key" it had 289,000 miles original engine trans when I got rid of it. Both still fine. However car was so rusted it wasn't safe. Anyways being a first year model plus having 250k miles it had quirks. One of em was occasionally the chip wouldn't read. On that car it would shut down the fuel pump and possibly injectors as well it would still crank though. The bad part was it shut down for 15mins. If you tried it before 15mins the clock would re start. So you could wait 14 mins, try it then have to wait again. Anyways from what I understand about the system the chip was just a resistor. Each one had a different ohms value. I was told years ago you could have a gm dealer run the Vin and give you a # for what resistor you had. Then either buy a key cylinder set online or buy a key, file it down to fit the cylinder in the car, then splice in longer wires, tuck the original cylinder under the dash, then install another cylinder in the column. That way the vats system is effectively bypassed.
That's awesome I was super excited super happy when I was driving this car the wrecking yard I was really glad that I was able to save this Firebird. Now it's back in the shop about to be stripped down get some new life put into it get some brand new paint.
As an owner of an 83 Bird, I am happy you got this car. It has no business in a grave yard. You would have saved yourself a lot of time and money with this VATS system by using the free software for reprogramming the ECU on these cars and unchecking the box that says VATS.
Nice that's awesome I had an 83 Trans Am in high school. Thanks yeah I agree it had no business being in that yard at all. Transmission does need to be replaced. Actually came across an 86 Firebird yesterday that I'm going to pick up later this month. It's got the T5 manual transmission and the 2.8V6. I'm thinking I'm going to take the T5 and put it into the 91 Firebird. Rebuild a 700 R4 from that car. And then pull the 2.8 V6 out of the 86 and drop in a 350/rebuilt 700R4 into the 86 and restore that one too. Haha I also have a pair of 84 Trans ams I'll be picking up too later in October. To build as well, haha come across some really good deals when I'm out doing my internet installs.
@@thomasjenkinson4385 100% really glad I was able to save this car from the yard. I've got it in the shop now and couple weeks ago was able to get all the parts I need it for it at the Pick-n-Pull. Definitely looking forward to get this thing ready for paint and get it back on the road.
Love Firebirds and Mopar. You are a down to earth guy. Love watching you doing your problem solving. I could feel your joy and excitement. I also love to work on older American vehicles.
Hey thanks I appreciate that. I will have some more Firebirds coming to the channel here too. I also just put a deposit down a little while ago on a 74 Dodge Charger and recently found a 70 Challenger while I was out doing my internet installs. 100% picking up extra jobs so I can pick those two up hopefully before the snow flies here. Oh that's awesome what kind of older classics do you have on the go right now that you are working on?
I just stumbled on your videos. I hope this doesn’t sound weird, but I really appreciate the great smile you show. In a world that’s so dark and negative, a great smile goes a long way.
Hey, thanks for checkingout rhe videos on the channel. I appreciate that I have a very positive attitude and outlook on life and everything I do. So I always try to show that anywhere I go.
Same here was such a great moment to be able to drive the Firebird out of the wrecking yard. I'm happy it wasn't located at the other end haha there would be no driving out of that side the ruts are as deep as the car is high haha on the opposite side.
Hey thanks Matthew, I had an awesome time getting this Firebird up and running and driving it out of the wrecking yard. Was just down in the city yesterday at the Pick-n-Pull getting all the parts I need for it. Going to repaint it here in the next few months and get it ready to hit the road again.
As a Pontiac fan myself, thank you for saving this one! I currently own 3 Pontiac cars right now. I own a 2008 G8, 2007 G5. & a 2004 Grand Am GT coupe. Great Job! Hello from Phoenix Arizona🌡🔥
Hey no problem there was no way I could have left that Pontiac there it was in to good of shape to let it strip down or crushed. Going to repaint it over the winter time here. Definitely wishing I would have the weather in Phoenix Arizona haha unfortunately it's gonna get waist deep in snow in about 90 days here haha. That's awesome that's good to see keeping the Pontiacs alive and on the road right on. My buddy had a 08 Grand Prix with 3.8L those Pontiacs can move.
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments it's greatly appreciated. Enjoy that Arizona weather. Haha I've only got like 2-3 weeks tops of golf and that's done too lol. I really might have to move hahah.
@@fullyloadedkustoms- The 2004 Grand Am I bought from auction. It had been in a rear end collision. I got it for $500, & the parts cost me $300. I did the work myself, & I am all into it for $800. It is white, with leather interior, & a sun roof. I had to save the car, for a 2004 Grand Am GT, it only had 108K miles on the clock. A good buy I think, & my White G8 turns heads everywhere she goes!
@pinball541 that's awesome that's what I do I come across most of my cars doing the internet installations. And get them for good deals. Usually $1000 or less. Same here I do all the work so can rebuild them at a decent price. That's awesome right on can't beat that. The G8 that's the model that took Over the GTO in 2008-2009?
@@fullyloadedkustoms - The G8 was the car that replaced the Grand Prix. The G8 was a Holden Commodore badged as a Pontiac, & had 4 doors. The G8 was supposed to be the 8th generation of the Grand Prix!
Thanks that's awesome. I was super excited to get that Firebird up and running. I had so many people not to even bothering trying to start that car without the Vats keys and it wouldn't work for me. Felt great to get it running and driving and drive it outta there.
Great job. I love these kind of videos, junkyard revivals. That's a real prize you have there and would love to see it fully restored. As a teenager these were everywhere, and my dream car. I managed in my 20ties to obtain one, wow that car was fun. I am new here and found you by accident and glad I did. Looking forward to seeing what other things you will be doing, Oh and I loved the way you showed the car show, very creative.
Hey Barry thanks greatly appreciate that. I used to have an 83 Camaro and an 83 Trans Am in high school. My 83 Camaro was the first car I owned. Definitely have lots of love for these third gens. Planning a full repaint over the winter time plus hopefully manual transmission swap too would be great. I'm also repainting the 1980 Chevrolet Scottsdale that I recently got up and running as well.
No problem I had an awesome time getting this Firebied back up and running again I can't wait to do a full paint series on this Car and get it back on the road again. Oh nice what color was your 89 Trans Am? Haha yeshhh I hear that fuel is crazy these days
Hey thanks, yeah I was definitely super excited when that transmission kicked in after all the work I put into it to get it going haha. Yeah definitely going to be keeping the blue color here. Will be doing a full repaint over the winter time on the Firebird. We'll also have another 86 Firebird and hopefully 83 Camaro Z28 to rebuild and repaint as well.
I just found your channel on 12-5-23 and I was extremely impressed with the video u saw a classic that spoke to u from the grave and u listened and believed u could bring it back and u have.. ur patience and vision and tanasity kept u going and I'm very happy to see you saved one more classic muscle car Great job and yes I have subscribed looking forward to seeing many more of your success stories.
100% as soon as I seen that Firebird I was Immediately like I can't leave this here I've got to save it. Thanks for subscribing, and welcome to the channel 👍🏻
it was absolutely so rewarding after you changed the fluid and got it to move, i was also super bummed when it didnt move after all that work! nice video man keep it up!
100% it felt sooo good the second that Firebird moved after changing out the fluids felt incredible. Especially after all the work going through the Vats system etc. It was awesome that's for sure.
My dad bought a 92 camaro several years ago and the owner didn’t have the keys. I wired in a potentiometer from a guitar to find resistance needed for the key and it fired up. Measured resistance and permanently wired resistors in and no need for the chip key.
@johnbweems oh that's a really good idea I've had a the few people tell me it was a common problem for those vehicles that the wires for the key would pinch in the column and cause issues for VATS system. That Gator bypass moduleI picked up seemed to work really well. I think for any other third-gen I pick up I'm going to do just that wire in the right resistor so I don't have any issues with the keys.
That's awesome. Welcome to the channel. Thanks for subscribing. That's your Trans am in your profile thumbnail? That's sweet. I Was just down in the Pick-n-Pull in Edmonton on Wednesday getting all the panels I need for rebuilding the 91. I'm going to get this Firebird stripped down and ready for paint here in the next little while. I will also have an 84 and 85 Trans Am Im picking up to build for the channel here as well. hopefully, pick those two up by the middle of next month.
@@fullyloadedkustoms thats one of 6 i have 🥲 currently building my 84 into a kitt replica and just wrapped up on my 81 smokey and the bandit clone but I’m stupidly excited to see where yours go!
@pokemaste3269 6 Trans Ams that's awesome can't have to many Trans Ams in a collection that's awesome. The first car I ever painted was my 1979 Pontiac Tran Am I had, I've also owned a 1983 Trans am in high school same with an 83 Camaro sports coupe. 1979 Trans Am, 1976 Trans Am as well. Sooo looking forward to getting this Firebird back on the road and painted up. Brings back alot of great memories.
Got to hand it to you, your persistence really paid out, and thank you showing on how the VAT system works, I will keep in mind. Enjoy that beautiful trophy. All that hard work on it was really worth it.
Thanks I appreciate that 🙏 yeah I wanted to detail all the issues I had with this one. Such as changing out the ignition, the Vats system etc so it could possibly help out others who may be in the same situation with their 3rd gens. I can't wait to get this Firebird ready for paint now
You can fully bypass VATS by having a chip burned for the ecu, and removing and bypassing the relay in the kick panel. Or you can get a sign wave generator and feed that to ecu and bypass the relay. But since you figured out the resistor value you can get a key cut and keep VATS. I'm one of the few hat has VATS operational in my LS swapped car. Don't forget to change the diff fluid before driving it much, and re pack the front wheel bearings, commonly over looked on these.
Perfect, thanks for the information. That's good to know. I am picking up another firebird that I will be looking at, pulling the motor and transmission. If I'm able to eliminate the vehicle any theft system from that one, it would definitely save a lot of headaches trying to get it started dealing with the computer electronic system. Since it would an older carburetor 350 going into it. Perfect thanks for letting me know the maintenance tips I will be sure to check those out. Looking to get the vehicle done over the winter and then drive it back home across Canada to Ontario next summer to help my little brother paint his 86 Cutlass.
I had an 85 Cutless. Nice cars but mine was such a lemon. Put a lot of repairs into it lol In the end it became a beater. No heat, no air, driver door no longer opened, window didnt open and no reverse to back up. oh and trans fell out on the highway. lol But still loved thwt car though
@longdrivehome4185 yeah the 85 Cutlass has a nice front end on it. Damn that sounds like my 83 Camaro the last day I drove it the transmission ended up on the highway as well haha. Also Brock the clip in the door so could only open the drivers door from the outside too lol
My very first car was a white 1985 Pontiac Firebird standard transmission. Took it to Toluca Mex Round trip from west palm beach Florida. I was 22 years old. Runs really good at the high mountains 🏔️ . GR8 video clip.
Oh nice that's awesome my buddy Nick used to have a white 1989 Firebird in high school. I've got tons of great memories in these 3rd gen Camaros and Firebirds. That sounds like it would have been a great road trip for sure. Do you still have that car?
@Amarillobymorning777 that's cool knowing that my videos are being seen out in Texas. Would really like to take a road trip out across the states sometime and check everything out down there. revive some cars at the same time would be cool.
That's just amazing to see that Firebird that sadly went to junkyard at 10 years and everybody probably thought that was in this last rest in place and the Phoenix flying bird rose from the graveyard and said I'm not dying here luckily someone like you came by and saved it and it was able to drive out of its final parking spot get back out there and be enjoyed instead of being Alpha Pastor that's awesome that you saved it a little work and I think it'll be like new
Hey thanks I really appreciate that yeah definitely going to get this vehicle fixed up for sure. I'm actually in the city right now heading to the Pick-n-Pull to see if I can find a good passenger fender and quarter panel to cut out for it. T56 manual transmission was already snagged out of the one I was looking at earlier. the Phoenix will rise again definitely looking forward to painting this over the winter time and getting it all set and ready to hit the road again next spring
I share that same emotion when a car that has been so long without starting, starts and touches the street after a long time, I love your videos Keep giving this good car a second life Greetings from Texas, good job
100% it gets exciting to see it come back to life again. Me and my dad recently swapped out the 700R4 in this Firebird I'm hoping to get the chance to drive it mostly across Canada lol next month with my dad back home to Ontario.
Such a great video! I had an 85 Firebird for my first car and then an 89 Formula. Truly some of my favorite cars to cruise in. My 89 had every small failure possible including Vats😂. So awesome to see you drive this car out of its grave! Looking forward to seeing more of your projects!
Hey thanks I appreciate that I had such an awesome time getting this Firebird up and running again. Definitely looking forward to getting it repainted here over the winter and getting it ready for being back on the road in the spring. That's awesome my first car in high school wasn't 83 Camaro sports coupe also had an 83 Pontiac Trans Am. And my buddy Nick had an 89 Pontiac Firebird Formula lots of fantastic memories in these third gens. Do you still have your 89?
Sadly my 89 met an untimely death when a cord ranger stopped in the middle of the road. I locked up the brakes and that was the end. Happened back in 2000, but I still miss that car. It was slow, but felt and sounded fast. That 305 was not a big HP maker, but she could do a good burnout😂😂
@dpittel ahh that sucks to hear, they are fun cars to drive right exhaust on them and they sound aggressive and great. Haha hey as long as they do a Burnout your good to go. Haha my old 83 2.8L V6 camaro could do a Burnout with little oil on the tires to help Haha. Still was fun to drive and made lots of great memories with it
I love these cars , I have had a 1984 Camaro Berlinetta 2.8 v6 t-tops, 1985 Pontiac Trans Am 5.0 TPI. I am almost 54 years old and man this brings back memories, I almost forgot I almost forgot about my 1968 Camaro with a 327 and 2 speed power glide transmission. Man I miss all of my sports car , I didn’t like the Camaros or Firebirds with out the t-tops. Keep on making You Tube videos, i am getting over cancer surgery and I really love watching your videos.
Hey Thanks for watching I wish you a speedy recovery there 🙏🏻 I had an 83 Camaro back in high school that had a 2.8 l in it too. Even though it was only a V6 it was still a lot of fun to drive especially those high school years. I'm definitely going to be creating a replica of my high school car here on the channel. That's awesome what color was your 84 Camaro and your 85 Trans am? I know what do you mean there it's probably been about 10 years since I've driven a classic car I can't wait to get one of these fixed up and put back on the road
It was a great experience getting this Firebid back up and running. Haha especially with all the things I ran Into it was definitely very rewarding. 100% agree I'm going to go with Blue again on the Firebird. Now I've got to figure out how to set up a paint booth in the garage.
I used to own a white 1991 firebird. I sadly got into a wreck and lived at an apartment at the time and had to get rid of it. broke my heart. it makes me so happy that you brought this one back to life
Oh, seriously, that sucks to hear about the firebird that you had. Hopefully, you're able to get yourself another one one day. My buddy Nick used to have a white 89 Firebird Formula in high school. I had a 83 camaro in high school these 3rd gens bring back lots of memories.
Hey thanks yeah I was really happy I was able to save this Firebird too. Im Also very lucky I don't live in a high populated area either haven't seen any 3rd gen firebirds causing around the area otherwise this car probably would been stripped down over the years. I was just down in the city yesterday at the Pick-n-Pull getting all the panel's I needed for it. Planning on repainting it here in the next little while
So exciting to see how finally the car going out from junkyard by herself. Dreams and memories about the road comes true. "I am still alive"! Good luck!
@vitiok125 thanks I appreciate that, it was such an awesome time getting this Firebird up and running again. Just swapped out the Transmission a few weeks ago. Planning to drive it across Canada and back for another RUclips video
Awesome find 😎 old school GM is tough to beat. Just found your channel and after bringing back that Blue Beauty I can't wait to see what ya do next. Job well done my friend. Keep on keepin on.
Hey thanks old school GM is sweet. I used to have an 83 Camaro in high school was my first car. I always liked these 3rd gens. Getting a full repaint over the winter and also looking to do a T5 manual transmission swap too.
My sister bought that same car new in that exact color. She loved it but said it was horrible in the winter (understandable). It was a beauty. I'm glad you never gave up, was great to see it drive OUT of the junk yard... free again, you saved one ! Nice work. As a car guy too... I get it.
Oh that's awesome I'm definitely loving this blue color I'm 100% going to be repainting it blue. Love the way that color looks. Haha I couldn't imagine how good these would be in the winter time I can't see them being very great haha.same here I'm glad I never gave up on it and was able to drive that car out of the wrecking yard was definitely a great feeling. Can't wait to get it ready for paint now.
Good luck with that one. Got a 84 Trans AM with a 400 SBC and a built 400Turbo hydramatic reverse valve and shift pattern. 500 RWH she is a great cruiser.
Thanks I greatly appreciate that. I've got a pair of Trans Ams I will be picking up in late October. I believe ones a 1984 and the others an 85. Planning on building those too. Would love to put a 400SBC into one of those. From the sounds of it that Trans Am definitely makes a great cruiser 👍🏻
@@fullyloadedkustoms and it surprises most as the noise don't start until you start getting into the second half of the throttle. Thank you for sharing this with us and I will pass it along for others to see.
Just wanted to appreciate you for going in depth with the whole steering wheel pulling process making it fun and enjoyable. Much better than having to watch a tutorial. I had a 91 that was engine swapped when I was 15 years old and I'm now 21 years old trying to get back into owning a firebird again, my old one was sold out from under me by my mother to a drag racer who still drag races it to this day.
Hey for sure no problem at all. I definitely want to cover everything that I ran into on this car. So I can hopefully help out anyone else you might have the same issues I ran into. Oh nice what year of Firebird are you looking to get back into? Same year 1991? That's all right at least they're still out drag racing the firebird till this day. Good thing it's out being enjoyed and didn't end up like this 91 I picked up.
@@fullyloadedkustoms Yes indeed, i don't exactly have an exact year I want. Sadly im in the states so they are ALL ragged out. That is unless you are looking to spend 10K on one that has some high mileage. I greatly love the 91-92's due to the aerodynamic nose cone but its virtually impossible to find one that isn't spiderwebbed. My 91 I had was a cancer victims car named Sam Ross. He built it in his shed with all sorts of goodies. It sat for 10 years after he died where someone bought his home from the bank and inherited the firebird in the shed. Then they listed it for 500 bucks for a no title v6 firebird. Boy was I happy, 350 with bunch of goodies and AutoZone special cosmetics lol!
For a fat lazy hick, maybe. I’ve built 16 thirdgens over the years and it’s too easy to drop the tank. Drop the rear end, exhaust, heat shield, and it’s right there. Get your little hands dirty.
For parts and accessories did you try checking out David tees firebird and Trans Am season Acheson just in the West End of Edmonton I haven't seen the guy in quite some time but it was pretty cool to do with yours ago 1000 Trans am's on Firebirds
I did call David T's about the VATS system they didn't have anything in stock for that. And I was just down there in Edmonton yesterday at the Pick-n-Pull and was able to get a ton of parts off a few Firebirds that were in their yards. David T's yard is pretty wild to see in person I actually filmed a video there not too long ago. Really cool in person to see amount of Camaros Trans Ams and Firebirds they have there
Absolutly amazing Video! As a fellow 14 year old that wants to become a mechanic, I found this video extremly helpful! I recently traded my dirtbike for a 1993 FireBird, it was sitting for ten years, I've done a complete interior Restoration, and I am now working on getting it running!
@Samworks1 hey thanks I appreciate that I'm really glad this video was able to help you out oh nice that's sweet 83 Firebird, gotta be liking that. Awesome! Hope that Car gets up and running for you
I gotta be honest, I didn't think the change of transmission fluid would work. Glad to see your work paid off! I have a 91 Formula that I've been working on for about the past few years. Great cars. Love them! Glad to have found youR channel!
I wasn't so sure it was gonna work either haha but I seen it worked for Derrick on VGG so I figure it's definitely worth a try. Was super happy I was able to drive it out of there. Me and Dad actually just installed the new 700R4 transmission I to the Firebird a few days ago so it's up and driving now. Oh awesome what color is your 91 formula?
Another 'bird saved from an untimely demise! Man, it makes me feel good to see that Firebird drive out of that junkyard under it's own power. Your will and persistence paid off! I hope you can get a good trans in it and you respray that factory blue too.
Thanks yeah there was just no way that I was going to leave that Firebird in that yard. I was just out in the Pick-n-Pull in Edmonton on Wednesday last week getting all the panel's I needed for it. 100% going to be repainting the firebird blue.
Hey, thanks. I was super pumped driving that Firebird out of the wrecking yard. It's awesome to know that my videos are being watched over in Australia,
The pure joy of when your research pays off is priceless. I hope you would paint it black and change the front end to the older "knight rider' style nose. This one is hideous but this car unlike most American cars did not age. It still looks great.
@HPzFreelance I I'm also picking up an 86 Firebird. And 84 in an 85 Trans Am in later October as well. I'm definitely going to painting one of those black probably one of the Trans ams I'm thinking I'll do black and gold
Great job my friend very proud of your work and your positivity as well as your passion for a second chance at life on the road for these iconic masterpiece American muscle machines
Hey thanks it just wasn't ready to give up on that Firebird was 100% set on getting that car up and running and getting it out of there. Looking forward to stripping it down and getting it ready for paint here in the next little while.
Nice that's awesome what color is your 92 Z28 Camaro? I'm glad I kept trying things on it so I was able to get that Firebird up and running and drive it out of there. Can't wait to get started on the paint series for this Firebird
Mine is supposed to be artic white the car overall has good bones and runs and drives flawlessly now The guy got it from was just inches away from having it running but it needed a new PCM other than that he had already went through the whole brake system plugs and wires fuel pump new radiator new heater core I was only tasked with figuring out why it wouldn't run correctly when I got it home
@Nick-xs3bg Nice White is always a good looking color on those third gen cars. Solid that's all right sounds like it's definitely had s decent of work already done it. Hope your Able to get that sorted out and back on the road again
I was really happy that I was able to save this Firebird and give it another chance to be on the road. I'm really looking forward to getting this FireBird painted and doing the Manual Transmission swap Here over the winter.
@kendellchadwatts7595 thanks, I was super excited when I was able to get that Firebird finally started there after a few days of trying and figuring out the VATS system
That is nice, pulling it out of the scrap yard. And its good that you are actually fixing them. Too many channels revive them and then park them to rot once again
@RipRoaringGarage thanks yeah that's the plans That I have are to get them running and driving again and rebuild them and get those classics back on the road.
Thanks, That's awesome to hear 👍🏻 sweet what color is your 84 trans am? What do you have for motor in that one? I Should be picking an 84 Trans Am here hopefully before the snowflies later this month or early next month I'm hoping to. Looking forward to getting this Firebird torn down and ready for paint.
I'm happy you saved this rare 3rd gen. I've owned a black 92' Firebird Formula 5.7 with black lace wheels since I was in high school. I sold a mustang gt to buy it from the original owner nearly 20 years ago. It just hit 50k orig miles. It was ordered with every option including the rare slp perf pack which added 60hp. So she moves for a 92' so keep up the great work aye!
Same here really glad I was able to save this third gen. Looking forward to getting it stripped down and repainted here and the next little while. That's awesome that you've owned that 92 Firebird formula since high school. That's awesome to have the same car. I had a 83 Camaro sports coupe in high school wish I still had it. I'll definitely have to make a replica of it here on the channel.
I just dealt with the same on the trans, they get moisture from sitting and that water eats on the clutch plates, it will not come back. You will 100% neeed to rebuild it. I did mine.
Oh really damn that sucks, both times when I change out the transmission fluid and filter there was chunks of the clutch plates in the pan. As soon as that transmission gets heated up she loses all gear again. Definitely going to pull it and either rebuild it or swap in a T5 manual transmission.
Hey thanks definitely had a great time getting this Firebird up and running and driving there to there. Can't wait to get it torn down and ready for paint. They also have an 85ish Camaro sports coupe I would like to do the same thing with as well from that yard. Haha except it's parked out back the ruts are pretty deep out there haha. Think I'm going to try and get it done though.
Hell yeah, man. Fellow canuck here. Keep making these videos... you'll have 100k subs before you know it. There a LOT of us out there enjoying the sht out of that kind of stuff. Keep the language pristine clean for the algorithm... you're set. I like that blue.
Hey thanks I greatly appreciate that 🙏 Whereabouts are you from? Oh yeah I've got a couple other third-gens I'll be picking up here to bringing to the channel That I Found when I was out doing internet installations. Goal is to revive them and them restore them and get them all back on the road for a 2nd chance to cruise again.
Well done Bud with the Pontiac Just found your channel on here Subbed and 👍 Love your enthusiasm and look forward to watching more content Good luck to you and your channel lets watch it grow
Hey thanks really appreciate that. Looking forward to getting this car torn down and ready for paint. I was down in the city about a week ago getting all the panels I needed for it at the Pick-n-Pull. Also picking up a few other third gen's as well to rebuild for the channel should be a really good winter coming up lots going to be happening 👍🏻
Hey thanks🙏 it definitely was a great feeling getting this car up and running and being able to drive it out of the Wrecking Yard. I can't wait to give it a second life and get a torn down and ready for paint and put it back on the road
Watching your video was so interesting. I had forgotten how attractive these early 1990's cars were. A real time machine for me. Wishing you all the best from Nova Scotia, Canada.
Hey thanks I really appreciate that 🙏🏻 yeah these early 90s Firebirds had a really cool look to them. Especially around this area I haven't come across them too often. Nice I've got some buddies here from Greenwood Nova Scotia
Awesome car great to see it rescued from the yard. I'm in Saskatchewan and I rescued a '88 Camaro 2 years ago that sat for 12 years looking forward to seeing some new third gen content on RUclips.
Oh nice that's awesome real close then just over in Saskatchewan that's right on. That's pretty sweet 88 Camaro would be nice one to have. I actually just came across an 83 Z28 Camaro a few days ago when I was out doing my internet installs. Just waiting to hear back from the owner if they were interested in letting it go hopefully that I can also build a z28 Camaro on the channel too. I definitely will be getting this 91 Firebird stripped down and ready for paint here in the next little while.
It's kind of a dark red metallic but needs a bit of work since the clear has all failed. I might go a brighter red but not sure. It's a T-top 5 speed car but only an RS trim
@roderickmoffat5771 oh nice dark red, reds always a good look on thise Camaros. And You have to love that having the TTops and being a 5 speed that would definitely make for a fun car to drive.
Hey, thanks. I had an awesome time getting this Firebird up and running again. Now that I have it up and running again, im going to get it painted and get it put back on the road. Hopefully, I will drive this across Canada in the springtime and help my younger brother paint his 87 Oldsmobile Cutlass.
@adrianfrankowski138 hey for sure no problem thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment I try and get back to anyone who leaves me a comments I greatly appreciate that
My dad just bought one from my job that has 71xxx miles and been in the garage for 25 years and yesterday for the first time ever touch the streets again super mint and it’s drop top
Oh wow that's cool sitting in the garage for 25 years and then hit in the streets yesterday that's awesome! And a drop top too that's really sweet, I'm pretty sure they didn't make to many of those. a third party company was making convertibles out of them from like 82 to 88. GM didn't start manufacturing convertibles again until 1988 I think.
Awesome that's sweet what color is your 82? I was out doing internet installs this afternoon I came across a 82-84 it was a burgundy color. No one was home haha if some ones hone one of these times I'm back out there, that might come back home with me lol. Love bringing these cars back to life
@@fullyloadedkustoms it’s a white v6, but the original color was that orange/reddish color from the previous owner. I just prepped it for paint my and am going to spray paint it black. Previous owner put a new engine in there as well that had less than 35k miles. These cars are classics and an 80s treasure. Your welcome, love watching restorations especially third gens! 🏴☠️
@Western.Confrence oh nice that's sweet my buddy Nick had a white 89 Firebird Formula back in high school tons of good memories there. Oh nice I did the same thing to my interior plastics on my 83 Camaro Gives it a fresh look. Awesome I'll definitely have a ton of 3rd gen restoration content coming up once I've finished up on the 1980 Scottsdale restoration. I've got those 3 3rd genss lined up so far hopefully get another few added here too. And do some revivals on those ones.
Great video! My first car was a ‘69 Grand Prix SJ. I still have my 2000 WS6. I’d like to find another Grand Prix like mine. I think they’re still under appreciated. I’m glad you were able to save this one.
Thanks so nice the 69 Grand Prix is pretty sweet I don't see too many of those around. My dad's buddy used to have a green one back home. What color was your 69 Grand prix? Awesome that's sweet a 2000 WS6nice what color is that one? I was definitely pretty pumped to get the car running and driving and drive it out of the wrecking yard
Hey thanks Robert, I always had that hood prop issue with my previous 3rd gens. I used to having 83 Camaro in high school and also a 83 Trans Am both needed that style Hood prop haha. Planning on getting the firebird repainted here in the next few months. Was just out at the Pick-n-Pull in the city the other day getting all the panels needed for it.
Thanks I appreciate that 🙏 that's something I plan to do for my channel once I can grownit big enough I would love to help subscribers with their cars and get them back on the road. Oh no you dont see many around What area are you from?
That's awesome. Thanks for subscribing, and welcome to the channel. I had a great time saving this Firebird. I'm definitely looking forward to getting it ready for paint And giving it a second chance here in the next little while👍🏻
I know exactly what you mean. It's been close to 10 plus years now since I last drove something that was considered to be a classic vehicle. Definitely super excited to get this Firebird painted on over the winter and get it back on the road for the spring. I used to have an 83 Camaro and a 83 Trans Am back in high school was my first Cars.
Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment greatly appreciated. if you get a chance hopefully you can pick yourself up another Firebird to to hit the road with 👍🏻
Hey thanks I appreciate that was down in the city of few weeks ago and strip-down a Firebird at the Pick-n-Pull and was able to get most of the parts I need for it. Definitely looking forward to getting this car strip down and painted and put back on the road
Nice to see another bird up and running. Here in the UK I have a firebird trans-am project which is going ok, got the car running and runs nicely, now just need to sort out the small wiring problems. Watching this video is making me more enthusiastic about getting our bird running and road legal. Keep up the good car find’s especially the birds.
Oh nice that's awesome I've chatted with a couple people here who have Firebirds in the UK as well. What colour do you plan on painting The Firebird Trans-Am? That's awesome good to hear that you got your Firebird up and running. I can't wait to get this 91 torn down and ready for paint here in the next little while
@@fullyloadedkustoms will be staying with the original colour dark red metallic, to keep the cost down will hopefully leave it as a single stage paint but will see if that is possible. The only problem we have here in the UK is that there are no wrecking yards around for these types of cars so everything has to come from the USA.
Hey Thanks I had an awesome time getting this Firebird up and running. Definitely looking forward to repainting it over the winter and getting it ready to hit the Road Again
Thank You very much, I have Pontiac firebird too, it is from year 1989. This summer I have to chance new engine because old blow off but still love it.
@@MetsaMan oh nice that's awesome what colour is your 1989 Firebird? My buddy Nick back in high school had a white 1989 Firebird Formula. What are you planning to put it in for a motor?
@@fullyloadedkustoms It's black and I make it look like a KITT, I found similar used 5.0 liter V8 engine. Here is video when I drive My KITT in Finland if I can add this. ruclips.net/video/HlviF-9polo/видео.html
Yeah that was an awesome experience being able to drive the car out of the wrecking yard definitely felt really good to be able to save this one. Hundred percent I'm definitely going to be keeping it blue can't wait to get this thing torn down and ready for paint here in the next little while
Hey thanks looking forward to getting this Firebird repainted over the next I was already down in Edmonton last weekend at the Pick-N-Pull getting all the panels I needed for it to repaint it.
Man can I just say how stoked I was when you got the reverse gear working, I'm working on my 91 as well and can't wait to see further updates with her, nice job buddy! 🙏🏽
Same here I was super pumped when I was able to throw the car in reverse and it started moving. It was such a great time getting this car fired up and being able to drive it out of there. That's awesome what do you have planned for your 91 firebird? I'll definitely have all the updates posted to the channel for this car I'll be doing a full paint series on it hopefully very soon
Wow I don't want to say too much here, let everyone watch and see what happens, but I will say this: you have no idea how many cars end up where you found this one with exactly the same problem as yours. The reason someone would dump a car (and it's SILLY an hours worth of work and maybe 50 dollars of fluid and filter) you pay scrap price and look what you recovered!! AMAZING work, great luck and best times with that Camaro. I had a 1978 (2nd gen) and I loved it for years!! edit: you may also need to change ALL the transmission fluid, you only got 1/3 of it, figure there's probably at least a gallon in the torque converter and about a gallon or so in the cooling lines and the radiator (there's a transmission cooler inside the radiator that the fluid runs all the way through) it's worth a transmission fluid FLUSH to try BEFORE pulling that thing out and rebuilding or replacing it!!
Hey thank you I had an excellent time Reviving this Firebird. Yeah you just never know. Some people aren't mechanically inclined. And like a transmission swap for them at a mechanic could be $2000 or more for a rebuild and reinstall etc. And when people start hearing big numbers they give up on it. Just like for example my brother picked up an 83 Oldsmobile Cutlass for $500 the person he bought it off of was not mechanically inclined couldn't figure out why the vehicle wouldn't start. Here all it was was the vehicle was out of gas and the fuel gauge wasn't working it was showing 1/2 tank, but when my brother got it back to the house he realized it was out of fuel and that's all it took to get it running again.
Oh that's awesome what color was your 1978? I think I am going to be swapping in a T5 manual transmission for it over the next few months. Manual in these cars makes them lots of fun to drive.
@@fullyloadedkustoms it was originally #24 Martinique Blue with 61-T Sand interior. Base model 305 (it was a 301 because Pontiac) 2 barrel, single exhaust with the dual tip sideways muffler. When i bought it a kid had painted it primer gray without doing any body work so, it was pretty much ruined but it was my 2nd car and i picked it up running for $800 American back in 1997. I loved that car but i was young and living ab very fast life so i didn't give it the mechanical love i should have, is i could go back in time, well, the things I'd do differently!! Anyway best of luck with that gem, really what a great great find, a 5 speed would surely make it 1000 times more fun!
💯 % exactly what I thought there was no way I could leave that Firebird sitting there to get stripped down or eventually crushed. Way to nice for that, and I'm going to repaint it blue over the winter. Probably swapped in a Manual transmission. Im Also picking up a 86 Firebird later this month to revive as well.
Great find, and you are correct you don't see 91 very often, actually for me never. I owned an 85 Firebird and 86 IROC many moons ago. Seeing you trying to fix transmission reminded me how mine went out on IROC, the same as yours. I had it rebuilt but it never shifted properly after that, so i sold car. My suggestion get a good replacement and keep fluid clean, this is the downfall with those transmissions. Great project. Cheers from Sydney Nova Scotia
Yeah actually come to think of it the only other places I've seen the 91 style was at David Ts firebird and Camaro yard in Edmonton. He's got over 1500+ camaros/Trans Am and Firebirds there. Other than his place I've actually never seen that style anywhere else before. Oh it sounds like these 700r4s have a common issue. I was actually looking into swapping in a T5 manual transmission over the winter same with doing a full repaint on the car. That would be sweet I'd like to get an Iroc Z to redo for the channel would be fun.
Thanks that's awesome to know that my videos are being seen over in Sweden. Yeah this Firebird was definitely way too nice to have it stay there. Was just down in the city yesterday getting all the parts and panels I needed for it at the Pick-n-Pull. Can't wait to have this thing in a fresh new coat of paint
Hey Rob, ought to be super proud of your achievement. Every bit as interesting as Derek, Mortske, Wess etc, Keep up the great work and thanks for the amazing content
My brother and I both bought new Firebird Formulas in 1989 ordered them with the tuned-port injection 305cid and 5 speed manual. The VATS key switch failed 3 times on my brother's he replaced it twice but one thing found while working in it he found that on both of your cars the VATS system only killed the power to the starter. As when the Vats would not let the car start. we could push start the car in second gear. So the 3rd time the key switch went bad he just wired in a starter button that bypassed the key. So to start the car he turned the key to run and pushed the start button he put under the dash. And it would start fine.
Oh nice that's sweet what color were the formula Firebirds that you two had ordered? Yeah I've heard that from a couple people now that after a while the VATS keys would fail or the chip would get lost from the keys etc. A starter button would be great, it was the first time I had to deal with a VATS system. Just picked up a 1983 Z28 Camaro really glad I didn't have to deal with it when I was getting that one fired up haha
They were black just like the KITT on Knight Rider. When we were ordering them I asked the salesman why we could only get the 305cid tuned-port engine with the 5 speed manual and he said it was because the manual trans not rated for the torque of the 350 tuned-port engine. I told him that was bullshit because you could order a Corvette with the 350 TPI and a manual. But they wont let you get it in a Firebird because they don't want to have a $15,000 dollar Firebird that is as fast or faster than a $35,000 dollar Corvette.@@fullyloadedkustoms
Thanks I appreciate that I had a great time Getting this Firebird Revived up and running. I can't wait to Start the paint series on this car definitely looking forward to getting this Firebird back on the road.
I'm really glad it didn't turn out to be a fuel filter issue with this car. Haha although I was fully prepared to cut an access panel in the rear hatch and replace it if needed lol
Thanks haha trust me as soon as I started digging into the computer electronics and having to rely on the computer to work in order to fire up the car. I was starting to think the Same thing lol. But I was very glad it worked out after all.
Thanks I greatly appreciate that. I can't wait to bring this Firebird back to life over the last few months I've gathered everything needed to get this Firebird back on the Road
We're driving this car out of here, that's what's up!!!!!!! Just subscribed to ur channel cuz of a few things..... Crazy positivity, got past the security of the car and car shows come before work
Awesome thanks for subscribing and welcome to the channel. 100%, I'm pretty sure that will be like a written rule on my channel. Car shows/ RUclips car things come before work always 😆
Great find can't believe that car is parked just because of the transmission in the salvage yard pretty simple fix if you ask me going to like seeing it transform and get it repainted and everything keep up the good work
Yeah exactly I couldn't believe this car was out there for the kind of shape it was in other than the rough passenger side fender and quarter panel, and the Transmission needing to be rebuilt. It was in really good shape. Definitely looking forward to repainting it over the winter time and getting it ready for some car shows next spring
Hey thanks for subscribing and welcome to the channel👍🏻 awesome I'm definitely going to have a lot of third gen firebird/Camaro videos here over the winter. Haha recently just stocked up on winter projects haha
Yeah the motor sounds really good in the firebird and it was barely blowing any smoke at all when it first fired up. Yeah it was definitely thinking some car audio places or some places that deal with remote starters would certainly have the resistors I needed for it. Haha but turned out to be a little challenging to find lol.
Thanks I appreciate that. Heading down to Saskatchewan there tomorrow to pick up a 1983 Z28 Camaro. Definitely going to have some good third gen projects here to finish up over the winter and get them back on the road for the spring.
@millertime6sixty thanks again it's greatly appreciated I've also got the 1980 Scottsdale in my garage that I recently did a Revival video on. I'm also getting that stripped down here and ready for paint and putting it back into the Retro style paint job it had in the early eighties as well.
Hey thanks and welcome to the channel, it definitely felt great to get this Firebird up and running and to be able to drive it out of that wrecking yard. Definitely was a great time spent there. Can't wait to get this stripped down and ready for body work and paint here in the next little while
No problem. I definitely could not leave this car sitting in the wrecking yard to be stripped out and crushed. I'm really glad that I was able to save this one. I'm going to repaint it over the winter. get ready to drive it across Canada in the spring so I can help my younger brother paint his 87 Oldsmobile Cutlass.
You are right that the car wasn't supposed to start. A lot of VATS cars that old have had the resistor bypassed under the dash, so it might have the right resistor wired in to the ignition wire. Another thing that could happen is the resistor was a #1, which the stopped using early on because a blank metal key was close enough in resistance to start the car. I was automotive locksmith and have bypassed many vats cars by wiring in the correct resistor. Cool video.
Yeah when I was speaking with a local locksmith he was saying the same that it may already be tampered with too. Definitely took a lot of messing around glad I was able to get it fired up in the end 👍🏻
Thanks I appreciate that I'm looking forward to getting the firebird repainted here in the next to the while. I've picked up all the parts I need for it already just need to pick up the paint. Definitely will be keeping it the blue color.
first time visitor to the channel. I affectionately call this guy Rain Man, because he says what he is going to to to fix the car three different times. Often words it slightly differently but always from different camera angles.
Yeah, exactly. I'm pretty lucky that I live in that lower populated area. 3 hours from a major city. I haven't see any third gen Firebirds driving around here in the years ive lived here. so thankfully a lot of these weren't stripped down. Unlike the firebirds/camaros I see at the Pick-n-Pull when I go to bigger populations like Edmonton. those things get put out in the yard, and those are stripped down within weeks.
Hey thanks first subscribing I appreciate that and welcome to the channel. Yeah Firebirds are pretty sweet cars. Definitely had lots of memories of these in high school growing up. I had an 83 Trans Am in high school and my buddy had an 89 Firebird Formula. What area do you live in? What year of Firebird would you like to pick up?
Thanks, that's awesome I had an 83 Camaro sports coupe and a 83 Trans Am back in high school as well. Always liked these 3rd gens. Always bring back great memories here too.
I just by-passed the system completely and ran fuel pump off of one of the unused spots in fuse box that is hot when ignition is hot. Do not use one that is hot all the time. I had to buy another pump bcuz it ran and ove flowed half a tank of gas out of throttle body😢
Wow, real exciting and entertaining video. Fevered with thumbs pressed that the car will move after changing transmission oil and filter. For god's sake my '88 TA hasn't VAT. Hope for more videos. Thanks for nearly two hours of fun.
Hey thanks I greatly appreciate that. I had an awesome time bringing this Firebird back to life. I'll have an update video coming out soon on this Firebird and the 88 Firebird/83 camaro I just did a Revival on too. And when I get to painting this one or the Camaro after the Scottsdale paint series. I'll have a full series up on this one too
My Trans Am is white. I own it since 25 years. 305 TBI. Everything works great. Exchanged the Standard Cool Fan switch for Hypertech 4026, because the Standard always broke, following radiator boiling. Used some more performance parts from Hypertech (Power Chip+Thermostat) to get more performance from the TBI. A high performance ignition coil is a good investment. I use Accel 140008. Car has Borla stainless exhaust. Never buy the great looking Chinese stainless headers. They are absolute junk. Will change next time the Chinese crap for he Hedman 68481. I had Edelbrocks, which worked great, but no more spares like the Y-pipe to get. Believe me, after 25 years I know all the little gremlins which can happen. More infos, just ask me.
@KAMR4 oh nice that's sweet, white always looks good on those 3rd gen Firebirds/ Trans Ams. My buddy Nick had a white 1989 Formula Firebird back in high school. Bet That Borla Exhaust sounds really good on it. I was thinking of going with a Borla, Flowmaster or magna Flow on this one definitely looking for a good solid aggressive sound
Thanks, yeah, there was no way I could possibly let that Firebird sit there at all. It had to be saved. Looking at getting the Firebird stripped down and ready for paint over the next little while here
@smavtmb2196 same here it's been way too long since I had the chance to drive a fun car. Pretty sure I'm going to drive it across Canada in the spring and help my younger brother paint his 87 Oldsmobile Cutlass
Dear FLK guy. 👍👌👏 I absolutely love how you get excited when something goes well. You're simply a very sympathetic person. This video was recommended by utube and I'm definitely thankful. Somehow a lot of great channels, especially vehicle stuff, comes from Alberta, Canada respectively near Edmonton. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health in particular.
Hey thanks I was super excited whenever this car started moving back and forth especially after all the issues I ran into it. Was really excited to see it get up and running I definitely had the biggest smile on my face as I was driving that out of the yard.
I drove a 92 just like that one back in school it was white and had it painted orange. Man I miss that car. Congratulations on getting her going and being able to drive it out hope she makes you a great show car.
Oh nice that's sweet Orange is the color I haven't seen too much of on these 3rd gen. House of Kolor tangelo Pearl orange would look great on one of those. Hey thanks I have everything I need now to get this car back on the road. As soon as I'm done working on the 1980 Scottsdale I'll have a third gen in my garage and getting it ready for paint

Glad you decided to save this piece of American classic. I'm in South Africa, & own a Recaro edition car, so i have a soft spot for these cars. Wish it was easier for me to find parts for mine from time to time. Love to see your car restored, great job, good luck👍
Same here when I walked I definitely thought there's no way I can leave it here. Really glad I was able to get it up and running again and drive it out of there. Oh nice that's awesome I can guarantee you definitely don't see too many Firebirds or Trans Ams around South Africa. What color is your car?
@@fullyloadedkustoms It's still original black paint job with gold accent on the bottom & 42000miles, still in showroom condition. Not many in south Africa, this is the only Recaro edition here. Looking forward to watching many more salvage cars on your channel 👍
Hey thanks Roger, because I kept a running into issues with his vehicle haha I wanted to make a pretty informative video so if anybody ran into issues with the VATS system, or how to drain the fuel tank on a 3rd Gen, or how to remove locking wheels nuts. How to get a VATS vehicle started without keys, how to remove the steering wheel etc they could reference this video and I was hoping it would be able to help them out. I've had a few people leave me comments now saying they wish they would have seen this before they got rid of their Trans Am or camaro because they had no VATS keys for it.
I bought a 2021 Elantra. Since I’ve bought it, it hasn’t been back to the dealership for anything. I do my own oil changes, using AMSOIL FULLY SYNTHETIC, with a Wix filter. I put 17” rims and tires on it, and Powerstop brakes. As far as rotation of my tires, I can do that myself. So, why do I need them? They’re gonna dump cheap oil in it, and who knows, what kind of filter? I do these things myself, so I know, the car is getting the best? At least that’s my opinion?
not sure if you've done a paint job before but id recommend using an epoxy primer on any area that goes to bare metal. than a 2K urethane filler primer and single stage urethane paint, base clear can be very tricky, i just painted my 79 trans am in the original nocturne blue color (dark turquoise metallic), sand with 150 or 180, 220 to blend than 320 than 400 prime it, than sand the primer with 400 and dust in some black with a rattle can and block sand to find high and low spots before paint than do a final 600 sand before paint, wipe the car down with a solvent before spraying it i forgot what i used lol ill look again, maybe do a budget vortec or LS swap with a 4L80E
Oh yeah used to work at a restoration shop in the Calgary area but I'm always up for listening to people who have experience in the auto body field there's always something new I can learn. To see one of my paint jobs. Check out my brother's Silverado 10 budget build we did for him last summer on his 1979 Silverado 10 I painted that in my parents single car garage back home. Nice that's awesome my 79 Pontiac Trans Am that I had was the very first vehicle I ever painted. That's sweet I bet you you're 79 turned out really nice. RUclips really has to allow people to be able to post photos in the comments section. Would love to see some of the Firebirds and other vehicles that people have that they've been talking about
I was 24 in 1991 and can remember these cars when they were brand new its hard to see them in wrecking yards now but eventually all cars get there hopefully this one can get restored
Yeah I'm definitely glad that I was able to rescue this 91 Firebird. I can't wait to get this thing torn down and painted here in the next little while. Also plan on doing a manual transmission swap on it as well.
Same here I'm definitely looking forward to painting this Firebird and getting it all ready for the road again. I was down in the city yesterday at the Pick-n-Pull getting all the panels I needed for it.
@Emilthehun yeah im really looking forwardto repainting the Firebird. I'm also going to be painting the 1980 Chevrolet Scottsdale I recently got up and running as well. I was just over at the owner's place a few days ago getting a list together of all the panels needed to get that one welded up and repainted as well.
Accessible too spark plugs maybe better thru the wheel well area cause I also had a 1983 crossfire injection 305 motor ! It was yellow and black interior , T tops.
Yes exactly I found that out when I was under the car changing up the Transmission filter the second time around. Plugs definitely easier to get from the bottom of the car. Oh nice that's awesome don't see to many Yellow ones. I've only ever seen one Yellow 3rd gen Trans Am out driving. Do you still have your 3rd gen?
Great video! It was nerve wracking everytime it almost started haha! Also learned a lot about the VATS system and I'm sure it will help others. I like how you explain what you're doing, and nice clear close ups. Thanks for putting the time and effort into this video. Was fun to watch!
It was definitely a great learning experience dealing with the VATS system and hopefully the Gator by pass module will help other people who may be in the same situation I was.

Oh wow.
@robertswain8665 thanks for watching and leaving a comment greatly appreciated 🙏
I have never been so happy to see an old car brought back to life! I can't wait to see it fully restored.
That's awesome I was super excited super happy when I was driving this car the wrecking yard I was really glad that I was able to save this Firebird. Now it's back in the shop about to be stripped down get some new life put into it get some brand new paint.

Well said.

Same here was such a great moment to be able to drive the Firebird out of the wrecking yard. I'm happy it wasn't located at the other end haha there would be no driving out of that side the ruts are as deep as the car is high haha on the opposite side.

Great seeing a bird saved from the yard! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments greatly appreciated
Your excitement is contagious... I was grinning just as much as you were.
Thanks that's awesome. I was super excited to get that Firebird up and running. I had so many people not to even bothering trying to start that car without the Vats keys and it wouldn't work for me. Felt great to get it running and driving and drive it outta there.
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments it's greatly appreciated 👍🏻
Thanks for saving another forgotten bird. I miss my '89 TA. Too expensive to feed these days with these insane fuel prices.
No problem I had an awesome time getting this Firebied back up and running again I can't wait to do a full paint series on this Car and get it back on the road again. Oh nice what color was your 89 Trans Am? Haha yeshhh I hear that fuel is crazy these days

@@fullyloadedkustoms It was blue like the one in the video and had the silver rocker trim.
Awesome job - this was really fun to watch. Was happy to see that transmission kick in gear! The blue color is nice. Thanks for the video
Hey thanks, yeah I was definitely super excited when that transmission kicked in after all the work I put into it to get it going haha. Yeah definitely going to be keeping the blue color here. Will be doing a full repaint over the winter time on the Firebird. We'll also have another 86 Firebird and hopefully 83 Camaro Z28 to rebuild and repaint as well.

it was absolutely so rewarding after you changed the fluid and got it to move, i was also super bummed when it didnt move after all that work! nice video man keep it up!
100% it felt sooo good the second that Firebird moved after changing out the fluids felt incredible. Especially after all the work going through the Vats system etc. It was awesome that's for sure.
Thanks I appreciate that, and thanks for watching and leaving a comment that's greatly appreciated

As a giant trans am guy myself seeing you save this bird really touched me, definitely subscribed and am looking forward to whatever else you do sir
@@fullyloadedkustomsheck yeah man do er good and hopefully it helps you relive your past!
I can't wait to get this Firebird ready for paint now
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments it's greatly appreciated 🙏
Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment greatly appreciated👍🏻
Took it to Toluca Mex
Round trip from west palm beach Florida.

Such a great video! I had an 85 Firebird for my first car and then an 89 Formula. Truly some of my favorite cars to cruise in. My 89 had every small failure possible including Vats😂. So awesome to see you drive this car out of its grave! Looking forward to seeing more of your projects!

Much easier to do the trap door
For a fat lazy hick, maybe. I’ve built 16 thirdgens over the years and it’s too easy to drop the tank. Drop the rear end, exhaust, heat shield, and it’s right there. Get your little hands dirty.
Yep, was going to say the same thing. Carpet will cover the cuts.

Thank you very much. It was a pleasure watching you get this old lady back on track

@@fullyloadedkustoms Thank you for your response and amazing content
What color was that firebird? Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments it's greatly appreciated
I own an 82 firebird. Your a good man saving it from the graveyard!
Awesome that's sweet what color is your 82? I was out doing internet installs this afternoon I came across a 82-84 it was a burgundy color. No one was home haha if some ones hone one of these times I'm back out there, that might come back home with me lol. Love bringing these cars back to life
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments it's greatly appreciated
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments greatly appreciate it
The 3rd gen hood prop did it for me! You got the like and the follow. I like this kind of content. Keep it coming.
Thanks again for watching and subscribing and also leaving your comments it's greatly appreciated👍🏻
I would so enjoy making this car alive again with you. Sadly we don't have such nice cars here for grabs. Thank you for this video.
Thanks I appreciate that 🙏 that's something I plan to do for my channel once I can grownit big enough I would love to help subscribers with their cars and get them back on the road. Oh no you dont see many around What area are you from?
The algorithms brought me here, and I don’t regret it. You’ve gained a subscriber. Nice video👍
That's awesome. Thanks for subscribing, and welcome to the channel. I had a great time saving this Firebird. I'm definitely looking forward to getting it ready for paint And giving it a second chance here in the next little while👍🏻
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments it's greatly appreciated👍🏻
I miss the sound of these! and I miss mine. Great inspiring video!
Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment greatly appreciated. if you get a chance hopefully you can pick yourself up another Firebird to to hit the road with 👍🏻
Great video!!! Love scrapyard restos!!! Can't wait for your updates!!
Hey thanks I appreciate that was down in the city of few weeks ago and strip-down a Firebird at the Pick-n-Pull and was able to get most of the parts I need for it. Definitely looking forward to getting this car strip down and painted and put back on the road
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments it's greatly appreciated
Nice to see another bird up and running. Here in the UK I have a firebird trans-am project which is going ok, got the car running and runs nicely, now just need to sort out the small wiring problems. Watching this video is making me more enthusiastic about getting our bird running and road legal. Keep up the good car find’s especially the birds.
Oh nice that's awesome I've chatted with a couple people here who have Firebirds in the UK as well. What colour do you plan on painting The Firebird Trans-Am? That's awesome good to hear that you got your Firebird up and running. I can't wait to get this 91 torn down and ready for paint here in the next little while
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments it's greatly appreciated
@@fullyloadedkustoms will be staying with the original colour dark red metallic, to keep the cost down will hopefully leave it as a single stage paint but will see if that is possible. The only problem we have here in the UK is that there are no wrecking yards around for these types of cars so everything has to come from the USA.
Great work, heart warming to watch that old girl is back on road again. 😊

Enjoyed the video. Thats so sweet to see you drive that car out of the lot. Love the blue color. Keep it blue.
Yeah that was an awesome experience being able to drive the car out of the wrecking yard definitely felt really good to be able to save this one. Hundred percent I'm definitely going to be keeping it blue can't wait to get this thing torn down and ready for paint here in the next little while

Soo satisfying to watch, well done brother, she's a beaut!

Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments it's greatly appreciated 👍🏻
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments it's greatly appreciated
Firebird Saved from the Grave !!!!! Nice work Great car !!!!!! worth saving !!!! original color looks great !!!!!
Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment it's greatly appreciate 👍🏻
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments greatly appreciated 🙏 cheers from Alberta here

Thanks that's awesome to know that my videos are being seen over in Sweden. Yeah this Firebird was definitely way too nice to have it stay there.
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments it's greatly appreciated👍🏻
They were black just like the KITT on Knight Rider. When we were ordering them I asked the salesman why we could only get the 305cid tuned-port engine with the 5 speed manual and he said it was because the manual trans not rated for the torque of the 350 tuned-port engine. I told him that was bullshit because you could order a Corvette with the 350 TPI and a manual. But they wont let you get it in a Firebird because they don't want to have a $15,000 dollar Firebird that is as fast or faster than a $35,000 dollar Corvette.@@fullyloadedkustoms

I was thinking "Fuel-Filter" blockage from the start. Keep on it bud!
I'm really glad it didn't turn out to be a fuel filter issue with this car. Haha although I was fully prepared to cut an access panel in the rear hatch and replace it if needed lol
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments it's greatly appreciated
Good for you man! I didn't think that car would run at all.
Thanks haha trust me as soon as I started digging into the computer electronics and having to rely on the computer to work in order to fire up the car. I was starting to think the Same thing lol. But I was very glad it worked out after all.

Definitely looking forward to repainting it over the winter time and getting it ready for some car shows next spring

motor sounds good we use to resisters like 15 years or more ago for remote starts to bypass chip keys and security

Definitely took a lot of messing around glad I was able to get it fired up in the end 👍🏻

first time visitor to the channel. I affectionately call this guy Rain Man, because he says what he is going to to to fix the car three different times. Often words it slightly differently but always from different camera angles.
Hey thanks for watching and leaving your feedback on the video it's greatly appreciated.
Sweet that body and motor was way too straight to be stripped and gutted. Glad you rescued her.

I'll have a full series up on this one too
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments it's greatly appreciated 👍🏻 also what color is your 88 Trans Am?
Very cool
Glad you saved that Firebird. It's in too good of condition to sit in a wrecker yard.
I like the blue.

I really enjoyed your video. Great information for people who are interested in doing what you have done. Keep up with your videos.
Thanks again for watching and leaving your comments greatly appreciate it
Color was black with gold around the base but it’s now jet black all over. Have also done a Knightrider conversion on the outside too😀
Oh nice that's awesome How hard was it to Source out the parts for the Knight Rider conversion kit?
I bought a 2021 Elantra. Since I’ve bought it, it hasn’t been back to the dealership for anything. I do my own oil changes, using AMSOIL FULLY SYNTHETIC, with a Wix filter. I put 17” rims and tires on it, and Powerstop brakes. As far as rotation of my tires, I can do that myself. So, why do I need them? They’re gonna dump cheap oil in it, and who knows, what kind of filter? I do these things myself, so I know, the car is getting the best? At least that’s my opinion?
100% if you do all the work to your vehicles, you definitely know what your dealing with and what to expect 👍🏻
not sure if you've done a paint job before but id recommend using an epoxy primer on any area that goes to bare metal. than a 2K urethane filler primer and single stage urethane paint, base clear can be very tricky, i just painted my 79 trans am in the original nocturne blue color (dark turquoise metallic), sand with 150 or 180, 220 to blend than 320 than 400 prime it, than sand the primer with 400 and dust in some black with a rattle can and block sand to find high and low spots before paint than do a final 600 sand before paint, wipe the car down with a solvent before spraying it i forgot what i used lol ill look again,
maybe do a budget vortec or LS swap with a 4L80E

Same here I'm definitely looking forward to painting this Firebird and getting it all ready for the road again. I was down in the city yesterday at the Pick-n-Pull getting all the panels I needed for it.

@@fullyloadedkustoms dang thats some great news! Hopefully you get to do it sooner then later!!!
