COREY TAYLOR IS NOT TAYLOR SWIFT, PEOPLE.
I always thought Joey would be at the top3 people that the band would never lose. He made that band as much as Corey did. His drumming style was unheard of on mainstream music platforms when they came out.
You are aware that Corey has little to know say in business decisions right? It's all Shawn.
But Joey was still entitled to his royalties, assuming the record company ever bothered to pay any of them. Plus Joey wouldn't have been in the band much longer due to his disease being degenerative and eventually lethal. There is no cure because doctors know so little about it, 1 in 5 million is a really small pool of people to study, assuming of course that the person wouldn't rather spend that time doing what they love like Joey did.
You can't blame the band for Joey's disease. Blame them for not telling him face to face about dismissing him but they didn't kill him.
I like this interviewer. he was very careful in the phrasing of the question as he didn't want to spark any negative emotion or offend him. that's how I saw it. some interviewers are controversial dicks so its cool to see this

Yeah, he was very careful and Corey seemed comfortable. I think that if the interviewer and the person being interviewed have connection and comfortable is on of the most important parts of having a good interview.

I’ll never listen to Slipknot again without Joey or Chris. I had a lot of respect for these guys with the way they handled losing Paul, but the way they let go of Joey and Chris like nothing with out giving any reason or explanation is not cool. I think Paul would be heartbroken, hell he probably is broken. I believe in souls, and I believe Paul’s soul would not want this for the band he worked so hard to take to the top with the other 8.

U know it shocked me to read Joey Jordison recently died, i mean like earlier this week. That really saddened me actually. Never met the dude but I've seen him do his gear rundowns on RUclips before and he seemed to be a very down to earth, genuine dude. Fucking amazing drummer, and especially since I thought other drummer's in similar genres got way more accolades thrown at them, and I thought Joey was just better. He will be missed never be another quite like him on the kit. RIP Joey u were one of the best drummers from the last 25 yrs u were both a banger and technically savvy man.

I'm lucky I saw Slipknot back in 2008 or 2009 when they still have Paul and Joey in the band, in 2018 I had a heart faulure and lucky to be alive and I wan't to live and see more of the bands I loved throughout the years. I really hope I get to see Korn later this year, it would be a life changing experience for me.

And now Joey died. I hope they're happy in that band with taking a guys life years before it ended. I don't believe for a second that Joey had a substance abuse other than the medications he got for his disease. I think Corey and the rest of the band are greedy and just did not want to take a hiatus for Joey to recover. The Chris Fehn lawsuit proves that.

After joey's death I have so many mixed feelings with Slipknot right now, but mostly bad. I guess their early work will always stick with me but I can't relate to what they have become now, not after knowing they prefered their ego, left Joey behind and nobody was there for him. May he rest in peace with Paul, after all Joey was his best friend.

Is it just me or does Corey Taylor have a massively unproportioned body compared to his head and neck? Like everything else tiny, but his big ass head and neck. If one were to make a bold assumption, this was caused by years of head banging at concerts. As well as almost absolutely zero work in the gym. I think I will add head banging in my workout routines.

He has lost a hell of a weight. If you look at him at say...Rock AM ring a few years back, then look at the gig they did at Rio or in Russia he looks ill. Between Paul and Joey I think things have gotten a bit to much for him, as a fan I dont want to see Slipknot take a break, but if its taking its toll on Corey nobody is going to think any less of him for taking a few years out. Its not like Slipknot are lazy like Limp Bizkit(you know, write an album every ten zillion years and milk it for every penny its worth!). The guys in Slipknot have been good to us all over the years, we should all return the respect and encourage Corey to take a break till he gets better. Same goes for Joey, I know he's back and rearing to go with his new band, but MS is a brutal disease, he needs to put himself first instead of giving to everyone else for a change.

Yeah, I everyone thought the silence over Joey leaving was a non disclosure Roadrunner took out to stop him affecting the sales of the last record, but he was in Metal Hammer(do you guys get the Metal Hammer magazine in the US?)finally putting the story straight, so its only in the last few weeks - to the best of my knowledge - that people now know. I still have to buy the magazine to read the article(the price of magazines is fucking mental these days, you need to re-mortgage your house just to afford one. I remember when comics were 40p and music mags were a pound). In reality his drumming career should be over, but you know Joey he loves what he does so he's not accepting defeat. But its a degenerative disease so there is only so long he will be able to that before people need to step in and say enough is enough, his health should come before everything else(after all metal fans aren't Christians, we don't just preach love, we actually practice it too!)

New drummer has way more energy, They play a lot of the songs a lot faster than they did with Joey so that's saying something. Jay's drum parts are honestly more technical since he started on jazz (which EVERY drummer should start on) or at least learn it, Jay has more up his sleeve I'm sure.

+WhyMeWhyYou22 one thing to remember is that it's his first year really doing big crowds, second thing is most of the setlist are songs he didn't write and from personal experience it is hard to be EXACTLY like the recording, and Joey being superior now? Ha. Joey went to shit in 2008 man. Joey was good on Iowa and subliminal verses, after that he got lazy with his drum parts, Jay more than likely didn't have any creative freedom or at least a lot at the time because he was the new guy, sorry to say but Joey was sloppy as hell all of his career, only played with speed and nothing else, I actually went to see Jay at the guitar center drum off in 09' with his dad that he did, and he was amazing, I'm sure Jay has off nights like we all do, give the guy some credit man he's not horrible and he fits perfectly with the band, I'm sure he's got some tricks up his sleeve for the next album.

Shit is an emotional affair. I believe Corey is telling the truth about the Negative One. I don't care what kind of face he puts on, the loss of Paul, and having to let Joey go because of his own health related issues had to be very hard. Go back and watch the old road runner united videos and see them all together. They were all practically kids back then, growing up together. That has to be really hard and it's a shame that things ultimately ended up going the direction they did. So, RIP Paul, and I'm glad that Joey was able to reclaim his health and get back to what he loves. At the 'end of the day' metal or not, we're all people and life isn't so black and white nor is anyone's path an easy one. I have respect for all of them and wish them all well. I still love Slipknot. The self titled album and Iowa were the sound track of my youth and nothing that has happened or will happen can make that go away.

I just wish they would've talked to him after the fact, and asked him to come back,I know it killed him inside not being in the band he helped create from ashes, so I think that aspect are at him on a deep level and no matter what other band he was forming took that place,I think heartbreak killed him,it wasn't the disease and him and his longtime girlfriend weren't together anymore at the end I think created an even bigger hole in his soul, I heard she cheated on him and,not sure how the ending of their relationship went down but I think it's sad and heartbreaking that he died alone, even when he was talking with Wednesday 13 there was a mention of reviving the Murderdolls possibly, I was hoping for that day to but that never happened either because our beloved Joey is gone, 😭

I believe Joey. Kicking out your bandmate with whom you played since '96 because of some miracle "drug abuse" seems like poor fucking excuse, especially since they all did drugs before. And what, are we supposed to believe that they had gone so fucking soft after they quit, that they would just throw out a bandmate, like some infected piece of junk, because of a drug abuse, anyway?
So the negative one is about Paul Gray-a fight between light and darkness with regards to the grieving process. The if's that Corey uses for Paul he should really apply to help Joey now. Joey would never have given up on Slipknot and we know he was pushed out. Usually if someone is behaving like an asshole it's because they are in pain. Pushing him away from everything he's ever known is crap and its disappointing to see them give up on him. Life is too short to not even stay in contact.

Jay seems to have more consistent drumming live than Joey did. I've seen too many live videos of slipknot and hear joeys kit either not be miked properly or he's just not playing up to par. the one time I see slipknot is with Jay and blew everyone away with his skill and technique. Joey was great in the studio but lacked in live performance post subliminal verses. I hated the sound of jays drums on .5 but they sounded phenomenal live.

man I don't know what's going on but since I got the news on how joey was actually kicked out and that just one member visited him in hospital, I've got such mixed feelings on slipknot. Like, that was such an asshole thing to do, I could understand kicking him out because they thought he wouldn't be able to play anymore (he still does though, and I think that fans would have understood him getting "worse" at playing due to a fucking disease) but fuck, he's still your former drummer you've been with for 18 fucking years, and doctors are telling him he could never walk again, go check on him at least.

Honestly it never crossed my mind that this song would have been about Joey... It just doesn't seem like something Slipknot would write about either, especially given the nature of the album. Corey's description is pretty much how I interpreted it, two different sides raging inside one being. Glad I actually got it right, not that there's even a wrong way to interpret music. It is what you make it.

Joey and Chris were always my favorite members growing up, so after those two guys were gone (along Paul's passing) I just stopped caring about the band. Joey's drumming is what made this band. Corey can be replaced by any singer on the planet but without Joey, they are another second rate band that will never be as good without him.
Josh Schake can't replace that voice. Most people can't tell the difference in the drums unless they play instruments.

I get he's a founding member and probably a personal favorite but don't force your opinions on who is more important and who is not. Very few times is an individual bigger than the band: Van Halen and Black Sabbath are testament that even important people like Ozzy fucking Osborne is replaceable.
It sucks in hindsight to find out that they pushed away a friend who was suffering physically, but it isn't as if they were heartless. They lost a friend and bandmate and rather then lose another to death it seems they pushed him away thinking he'd kick the drugs. Turns out it wasn't drugs, it was disease.

It really makes sense when Corey mentions "the Negative one and Me". It makes sense because your dealing all different kinds of emotions. When you have deep feelings for someone there different emotions that run through you. Whether they are positive or negative. I think that's what the Negative one really touches on and it's a very honest song about Paul's passing. There is one line in the song where it says, "you had to be set free". However, I could understand why people would think the song talks about Joey being let go just from that one line. The Negative one, in my opinion, is one of the hardest songs to break down and dissect. This is why I think fans get so confused about what's true about the song and what's not. But I think it's one of the best songs out the whole album. And I say that with all honesty. I don't think Corey and the rest of the guys including Joey, would go through 20 years of hell and then just turn their backs on him. Both Joey and Paul were loved. And they have been jamming for such a long time. They were the guys that started everything from the very beginning. However, Joey had been dealing with an illness that really fucked him up and had affected his drumming. Maybe that was the reason why they let him go, they didn't want him to suffer. I honestly think Corey and the guys did it for a good purpose to help Joey. He was their best friend including Paul. And sometimes you have to make good or bad decisions for your best friends even if it seems negative to other people. That's what friends do, they help each other.
Am I the only one who feels like I could sit with Corey and speak for hours straight without even being bored
Paul's tragedy sucked, but it hasn't been the same without Joey.
