I find the song, and music video for The Devil in I to be VERY telling, and EXTREMELY symbolic in more then one way. I won't go into the detail's of those symbols because most people would think I sound crazy, but I know in my heart what their saying.
I think I understand what you're saying. I think that the video hit me deep as well. I saw the band members killing themselves as a start to a new era for themselves. That's why I saw them (except Sid and Jim) wearing their old masks when they died. It's like them saying that when Paul died, the old Slipknot died as well. Then the two new members where not shown playing in the video, just riding in those scooter things wearing straight jackets. Then they were shown playing after the other members of Slipknot brutally stabbed them to death. I thought of it as an initiation process, or something that's saying "This is how you're going to start out, and you're going to have to progress." That's what I though of the video.
Met Shawn on Slipknot's first mega tour in Toronto. I think they were *opening* for Coal Chamber. No one in "the warehouse" that night had ever seen anything like that. I don't even remember Coal Chamber's performance. And here's Shawn hanging out with his green John Deer cap on, chatting with a few fans. Once, my best friend at the time and I were looking at Slipknot onstage pictures and there was one of Clown where he (my friend) said, "this fatass thinks he's the greatest" lol. I guess his general aggressive and provoking attitude contributed to that, especially during the Self Titled era. I'm glad I grew out of that superficial impression, of course. Nowadays my only real complaint about him is that he's always full of big words when promoting new stuff (Slipknot's new albums, side ideas such as the "Maggot Bible", the "Tattered and Torn" clothing brand, "LIving Breathing Films" etc), and the real thing is almost never really all that. This aside, he's a genius and has created an experience that will be forever engraved in my memory.

Very cool! Clown was so much more legit and humble than I had thought. His pink mask is one of my two all-time favorite Slipknot Masks, along with Sid's 3.0 Gold one.
Is anyone else's mind blown by the fact that Shawn is just kind of a normal middle aged guy who loves his mom. I don't know what I expected I guess, but it's just kind of funny to me that is everyday life is so different from his stage persona.
I picture the day they picked their numbers's meeting as that scene from Reservoir Dogs when they pick their colors and Sid probably complaining for getting the Zero.
Spooky Ghost The Zero was atcually Sid's idea...Corey said once that they don't wanted to have a number 9...and Sid said that since he's "nothing" he was gonna be the #0
Shawn is an interesting character. He seems happy and upbeat in this but the mask goes on and its as though his repressed feelings/thoughts come out and he goes bat shit crazy especially in the old days, like his form of release. His outlook on life is quite different to everyone from Slipknot too.If he was to write a book id definitely buy it
I bought their 2002 Disasterpieces DVD; I watched this dude pound empty kegs with a bat and the sound was mind blowing. I kept one after a highschool party, welded an stand and lathed a bat in shop class just so I could play a keg with my drums
What.....? No, he's the guy at the pub at a table by himself just reading a book, and you see him there for like two hours and you think he's weird or he doesn't like to talk or he has social anxiety or w/e, so you go say hey to him, and THEN he talks to you for an hour about cycles of death and birth and how that pertains to art He's DEF not the loud drunk twat who just accosts you and forces himself into your conversation
He grabbed my hand and put it on his mask at Tipitinas in '99. Im pretty sure it was '99. He poured a whole bottle of water over my head, & threw the bottle at my feet. I crushed it between my boots, & later got it signed but Jim, who signed it James 4. Pretty cool. Then I filled the bottle with the confetti that fell during the Coal Chamber set. I was still in high school. Great memory!

i genuinely hope he does write a book someday. i would read the hell out of that.
I picture the day they picked their numbers's meeting as that scene from Reservoir Dogs when they pick their colors and Sid probably complaining for getting the Zero.
Spooky Ghost The Zero was atcually Sid's idea...Corey said once that they don't wanted to have a number 9...and Sid said that since he's "nothing" he was gonna be the #0
@@vinnysouza2016 Exactly, he is the Filth Epitome..... number 0
Listening to Shawn Crahan talk is something I could do all day, he has so much interesting things to say. I hope he writes a book some day
Loudwire Do Chino Moreno from Deftones!

Did Shawn just smile?? Lol
One of the best I've seen of his interviews was an awesome watch as a longtime Knot fan

I was at this show!! God good memories. Motionless in White, Lamb of God and Slipknot were brutal!!
motionless in fucking white playing in the background! fuck yesss
psycho patty fbombs to days
I've met Shawn twice now. Really freaking cool guy.
How old were u
I was 14,I'm from Nottingham uk
Couldn't help to hear Motionless In White was playing in the background. Haha I tend to get easily distracted by background noises.
Perfectly said, Shawn! Great interview!
He's the guy at the pub who just won't stop talking to you.
What.....? No, he's the guy at the pub at a table by himself just reading a book, and you see him there for like two hours and you think he's weird or he doesn't like to talk or he has social anxiety or w/e, so you go say hey to him, and THEN he talks to you for an hour about cycles of death and birth and how that pertains to art
He's DEF not the loud drunk twat who just accosts you and forces himself into your conversation
Hands down one of the greatest people ever!!
Motionless in the background lol
Haha yeah
He grabbed my hand and put it on his mask at Tipitinas in '99. Im pretty sure it was '99. He poured a whole bottle of water over my head, & threw the bottle at my feet. I crushed it between my boots, & later got it signed but Jim, who signed it James 4. Pretty cool. Then I filled the bottle with the confetti that fell during the Coal Chamber set. I was still in high school. Great memory!
Crayola confirmed?? 🤔🤔🤔👽👽👽 STAY WOKE
Shawn is like a wise old man giving out life lessons. I'd 100% buy his book.
Don't think it helps that you got Motionless in White going fuckin ham in the background
