Dude. Slayer is pretty huge now. But I can remember going into local dives to watch them play. Little bars and stuff like that. They were intense, man. A lot of places would have a walkway in front of the stage lined with chain link fencing where security would stand, but I can remember seeing them from the foot of the stage close enough to untie their shoes. And the energy was unbelievable. Hell... The energy is intense in a 30,000 seat arena. Imagine that same energy in a bar that you can barely pack 150 people into. And Slayer was 25-30 years younger back then. And they were friggen loud. And they really amped up the Evil. They had a reputation they were building. And, yes. You did occasionally get the feeling that you just might not make it out of there alive.

I always like someone who laughs at their own jokes no matter what lol. Tom is great
I'm your man then, lol
Yeah and never give a fuck if someone else laughs or not, meanwhile is hilarious for you that's all that matter
Will Grello what are you doing here
Dogs should be raw! And living!
@@dalebooty6118 just trying to find a new pair of pants
Every time he laughed I just burst out in giggles.
Same here. He's such a great and mellow guy.
You forgot to put the no homo before your sentence
It's a proven fact that his laugh can cure COVID-19.
N/A exactly
He was a respiratory therapist before Slayer..... so he can definitely help
Hehehehehehehehehe
Slayer has always had such negative connotations about being aggressive and satanic, then you listen to Tom talk he's the complete opposite such a nice person and so humble
1000parsley almost like someone's funny grandfather
I feel like Tom just maybe just barely inhaled weed, and stayed high forever
Caleb Heney fuck that’s funny!
A real money saver.
My thoughts exactly.
"You weren't huddled in a corner suffering from Depression to make Divine Intervention?"
Tom:
Whats Depression?
You know it’s serious when he doesn’t laugh at the end of the sentence...
Seems pretty humble for a singer in a famous metal band.
A satanic one at that
+Timothy_Terror He's catholic :/
+UncreativeUser182 Kerry is a douche.
+UncreativeUser182 Why do people call Kerry an asshole? I mean I've seen tons of interviews with him and he seemed like a pretty nice guy to me.
+UncreativeUser182 His statements on Maiden and Metallica are mostly true. Metallica has lived off the Black Album for years.
Imagine being Tom's brother and telling your friends and teachers that the reason why you weren't at school was because you were a roadie in your brother's satanic thrash metal band
Just write an excuse note, lol.
I bet the teachers wrote excuses to him, signed by the principal lol
^ damn, that's deep.
^ I have a whole new respect for Slayer now
@@geoffok holy shit that blew my mind
I can already tell that he is a pretty chill dude. Love Slayer and their music, and this guy is a legend
Imagine if Angel of Death came out in 2021. These guys would have been shamed on Twitter and cancelled before even thinking about getting a record deal. We're all very fortunate to have gotten to experience Slayer before fake social media activism was a thing.
I don't think so. if their brains didn't melt from the intro, Tom and Kerry would kill them with kindness.
Yeah im agree!!🤘 Too much fucking politicly correct these days...peoples are so snoflakes
@@fredbernier1972 I don't think angel of death would be cancelled since so much people are used to violent lyrics from metal culture now. On the otherhand, at the time Angel of Death already was the source of lots and lots of controversies.
What do you mean? Death metal with much more gruesome names and themes come out all the time. They don't get 'canceled' it's just generally not as popular
There’s quite a few Slayer songs that are more relevant today than they ever have been.
dear heavy metal santa claus, this year i want tickets to wacken
2020: heheheheheheh (fuckery aside, sorry for your loss)
Watching interviews with Tom Araya is like a breath of fresh air. Kerry King, on the other hand...
Nails on a chalkboard
Watch the one with Phil anselmo if you haven't
HB C You've made this same comment multiple times. Why do you have such a hard on for Kerry?
@@cdsmetalhead99because he’s HAWT. 😂
Best smile in metal!
And Divine Intervention is one of my favorite albums of all time.
I love how un-satanic, un-angry, and how happy he is 😂 what a wholesome dude! Shame I missed the train for these guys though. I know I’m a loser for that, but hey, a trip down memory lane for you guys is all kinds of fun and adventure for me
Dude that was awesome 🤙
"Divine intervention came out of four years of you hating life."
"...What??"
Rest in peace Jeff. I'm 45yro and I grew up with Slayer. It breaks my heart seeing the band get older and members PHAWKING dying. Slayer, old Metallica before the Black album, Anthrax, Megadeth, Pantera. Best metal bands ever. Long live SLAYER Long live Rick Rubin
Metallica before the black album asshole Metallica was always great never did sell out
@@larryfreeman6942 so what do you call cutting off your hair to be accepted and playing on mtv during the day. I was there and saw it live so phawk you and your opinion. Whats next Cadillac commercials? Anyway I admire your love for the band.
@@ourlifeinwashington4114 I'm not trying to start shit I just think Metallica was always great
Had the good fortune to meet Tom in 2000. Talked hockey and Slayer history with him for about a half hour. Super cool dude!🤘🏼
Tom is like the most humble and down to earth chill dude it's ridiculous.
I would like to have Tom's laughing as my caller tune....
Fact or fiction: This is not really Tom Araya, but it is actually Santa.
+Myth Plays Oh, my fucking god! This is mindblowing! The answer was right in front of me all the time!
Fact.
Fiction:
They are one and the same.
Don't call tom a horse.
Every year tom looks more and more like Santa and I've never see them in the same room together 👀
hehe you might be onto something there 😄
Hehehehehehehehe
Tom is so awesome and he's so humble and kind
"Calling me a horse?"
A joke every dad would use if presented the opportunity.
My 10 year old daughter loves Slayer, and especially Tom. Heavy metal grandpa!
He has always been totally frank and honest about every question .... It doesn't matter if it makes him look good or bad - he tells it the way it is... that's refreshing to hear.
"I get a little upset and anger sometimes, but no, I don't interfere with my smile (laughing,,, precisely)"
Tom Araya is getting old, he looks like a freaking wizard haha
A badass wizard
YOUR A WIZARD TOM!
You can never be too old to do metal music!
Imagine him as Dumbledore in the remake of Harry Potter!
He IS a wizard
This dude just makes me live metal and Slayer so much more. The different dimensions of personality and expression in one guy, one legend.
Slayer band-van goes to Mcdonald's drive-through:
Girl: "Welcome to McDonald's, may I take your order?"
Tom behind the wheel: "hehehhehehehehehehehehehehehehehheheehehheheheehehehe"
Best one so far
you gotta feel old when you realise tom is a grandfather
Fuck, I know..lol
Tom is the man. On stage he looks so scary and intimidating, then i see this and think “this guys practically a child at heart”.
His scream on Angel is awesome to. Whenever I’m practicing my falsetto, I always try to scream along to that. It’s really good practice.
Holy shit, his laugh is contagious
I swear Tom always seems so happy.
He smoked a random joint on a random point during the 80s and he stayed high forever...
Tom Araya is the happiest man in all of metal
Man, Tom's great. When he talked about song magic... the end of Dead Skin Mask sends chills up my spine every time.

This man is amazing. So much success, with out sacrificing what’s real to him. Open, honest, real. Just like Slayer!!!
I was not expecting this. His attitude is so refreshing.
His laugh.. it's so awesome xD
Tom Araya is a really nice guy
I met Tom at a NAMM show in Atlanta in the late 80's, and then got to hang out back stage with him at a concert in Daytona Beach. He is one of the nicest people in metal that you could meet. He is nothing like what you see on stage. A class act.
