I hesitate to say, because I've never tried it. But I recommend that you use the Alberto knot to make braid-to-braid braids and I have used the Alberto knot and the results are good. Next video I will make a tutorial
Yes the PR knot is very effective for joining braid of different thicknesses. This knot is known as the PR knot and is indeed stronger than the FG knot. It is usually tied with a special bobbin.
Great knot, will give this a go. Question, When you go back 20 wraps, is it essential you stay right inbetween the previous made wraps or is it ok if some overlap the braid from the first 20 wraps? Ta
It should be possible, because in the last 20 wraps after you finish with the first lock, you will pull it into a smooth braid like I did in the video. but if you repeatedly overlap the nodes, it will make it difficult for you to pull out the first lock. hope it can be understood 🙏
It's a pr bobin knot without the bobin it's been tested many times and the out come has always been stronger than the fg knot you can find many test video on RUclips
Most of my fishing is for bass, so forgive me for asking a question related to scaling down the line size. Although I typically tie an FG, my question applies to both the PR and the FG. In order to make the knot smoother when reeling through guides, level winds, and to prevent the knot from “catching” other coils of line on the reel when casting, I typically tighten the main knot after one or two half hitches, add another 5-10 half hitches over both mainline and leader, then trim the leader and apply the Rizutto on the braid only. I can't think of any reason this would result in a weaker knot, but I'm curious if you think it might. Thanks.
sir, the knot as you said, putting Rizzuto on the braided line will not make it weak and the knot will make your line smoother. Please correct me if I'm wrong sir 🙏
You can see directly how I tie the rizzuto lock in the video. I always end the rizzuto lock at the end of the Fg, PR and Sc knots. And it never unravels
I like cutting off leader before the rizzuto because it then covers that leader and feels like a smoother transition through eyelets. And a dab of super glue because you can have the sharpest scissors on the planet and your braid will still manage to want to fray when cutting lol. Beautiful looking knot.
It's call a PR knot. It wiil slip if it's done with not enough coil over the leader. It takes longer times to tie then a FG knot. If you are on a rocking boat with wind blowing, good luck with that way of tying it. FG is a better and easier to tie and still produces strong connection without slipping.
@@oman-ip6kq I agree with you, this knot takes more time to tie, than tying Fg. after I tried tying it on a rocking boat I threw up 🤢.. I don't recommend this knot if tied without bobbin

Here's how: instead of wrapping the knot around main line plus leader, I'd rather make it over main line only. Here's why: the connection between main and leader should be rock solid by the 20 wraps. PR. Save yourself some effort & snug your wraps up tight to 1 another as you wrap (say every 10) then wrap them tightly taking your time on the return in the main line direction. Looks pretty good but I will stick with the fg. A tiny dot of super glue on the rizutto finish will lock it.
I think the FG is easier than this because of the automatic no-look spacing while this is mano mano and depends on sharp focus and steady fingers... Also, I think you pulled or cinched them wrong, aren't you supposed to pull the braided only on the long part (left hand here) and the mono/fluoro (right hand here) on the long part? Maybe I would prefer to tie it with an alberto or yucatan knot which I think is easier and faster. So more precisely to tie I look more at the situation and conditions when going fishing 😁🎣
Why not just tie the leader on at home and tie it to a length where if you loose your rig you still have a nice amount of leader tied on so you can just retie a hook or whatever you use. The knot is strong enough that it shouldn’t break from normal use unless it’s not ties properly and even then I’d bet your line would break off at your hook and jig or whatever you use. I always tie about 6 or 7 feet of leader on. And then tie on whatever rig I’m gonna use. That’s why it’s also called a wind on leader. Not to mention you also get the benefit of having a almost invisible leader line under what’re for them finesse fishing on soft biting fish
The function of the leader line is as a damper when the fish suddenly fights back. The illustration is the same as the use of shock absorbers on motor vehicles. Casting without using a leader line will feel less comfortable, it will feel rough when striking, not smooth.
Main reason people use braid is because it’s way stronger for the diameter of the line itself. Say you have 20Lb mono or Floro you coil use like 40 or 50lb braid for the same diameter of line meaning you get stronger line for less diameter. If you reel holds 250 yards for 20Lb mono test you could have 450 or 500 yards of line if you used a light strength braid say like 30lb braid. Not exact numbers just demonstrating the difference. Another reason people use a Floro leader while having a braid main line is because braid has absolutely no stretch and mono and Floro do have stretch. Also for a shock leader when casting super heavy wait as soon as the braid tightens when casting heavy weight it juts snaps and pops your line. When mono or Floro would give some buffer and strech. And also because Floro line is almost invisible under water.
@@swimpsmagbayao9513 NP another tip when throwing heavy weight and I’m talking like 5ozs and up you need 10ths for every oz thrown for your shock leader and the shock leader needs to have a couple turns into the reel like 6 or 7 turns of line onto your spool and again 10lbs of line for ever 1oz of weight thrown. This is usually done for surf fishing but I also do it when bank fishing for sturgeon on the Columbia river in Oregon and Washington
@@ThatGuy-sw2xethat’s what I’m saying who would wanna do this on a boat yea it can be done but my stuff is always rigged up and ready the night before so I don’t have to waist any time when I get there and I always tie on a good amount so I can wind it on my reel a couple cranks so even if the bottom end breaks I still won’t have re tie the leader knot I just tie back on whatever rig I’m using or switch to.

Some humble thoughts...
1) I'd say the strengh should be the same a the fg knot. Based on the physics, both knots use to take a bite into the leader.
2) Because the fg is bound with both ends of the main line from the same side instead of coming from one side, turning and wrapping back, the bite into the leader might be even better than your version? But... with 20 wraps it shouldn't matter any more. ;-)
3) The last knot (a grinner?), I'd make it a little bit different. Here's how: instead of wrapping the knot around main line plus leader, I'd rather make it over main line only. Here's why: the connection between main and leader should be rock solid by the 20 wraps. These last overhand knots and the grinner should only be nessesary for securing the end of the main line. The grinner with main line only is slimmer than your version. It ads a step in diameter between main line and knot. So, the end of the leader is kinda hidden behind the grinner. I'd argue, it makes it easier to go through the top ring while reeling in the line. These kind of knots tend to be pretty stiff, so, it makes a difference.

@@sigspearthumb1056 wow okay that's a great response I'll buy that I just retired and getting into fishing thanks for the info
😂😂😂because you have no idea buddy😂
Imagine wasting 10 minutes to tie a knot on a charter boat, rocking back and forth while the fishing is hot? Yeah, gimme a swivel hommie.
😅
😅👍
Do it right before you leave and you won’t have to do it again on the boat.
@@ThatGuy-sw2xethat’s what I’m saying who would wanna do this on a boat yea it can be done but my stuff is always rigged up and ready the night before so I don’t have to waist any time when I get there and I always tie on a good amount so I can wind it on my reel a couple cranks so even if the bottom end breaks I still won’t have re tie the leader knot I just tie back on whatever rig I’m using or switch to.
buy a bobinknot asist von shimano make it more faster stronger and easier...
I do not have the funds to purchase it 😅.. So I am using whatever I have
You need to get yourself a pair of ridgemonkey braid cutters, they are excellent.
Got 2 different pairs of what your using both shite for cutting braid
Maybe in the future I will buy it
I still prefer the blood knot, easier n no need so much turns
@@JeromeLim13 thank you, the blood knot is also strong and easy. I agree
PR & FG knot are completely different, PR knot is the strongest of all knots, especially suitable for big game fishing, not for 5 minutes bass game.
I think with the overlapping weave on the PR knot it becomes a strong gripping knot on the leader line. that's what makes the PR knot strong
ruclips.net/video/teTyMUPKZ7k/видео.htmlsi=ycNlogmr_d7ZKX2v
It’s the exact same thing as the FG knot just different way to tie it ! So definitely not stronger than an FG like the guy before my message said because it is the FG!
😁
SC knot process
Many say this is a PR knot
@@pescadorestamora exactly.. a pr knot master..
True, you should try this one knot
By the time I'm done with this knot tide has done a full cycle
😅
@@pescadorestamora it looks like a very strong knot tho and streamlined too. I might try it one day, might.
@@BladeIntoOblivion please try it bro 👍
There is no way this is stronger than an FG knot. Countless break tests have been done comparing this and an fg knot and the fg always wins. Always.
That is true 😅
It's so strong and huge, it won't pass easily through the guides.
Use a small fishing line size
Get yourself some sharp scissors
OK sir, I have sharpened these scissors to be sharper
Fg for me tie a fg inside a few minutes
👍
Midnight knot
👍
It's a bit ridiculous. I don't have ten minutes to make a knot. I'm sticking with the Carrot knot.
😅
i ain’t got time for an 8 minute knot
It only takes 1 minute to tie this knot, if indeed really tie it
It's actually a knot you tie prior typically, if you break off you've learnt to tie it in a way that doesn't teach others. Otherwise, you're right a basic knot might take you 8 minutes, who am I to judge your abilities.
It looks like PR knot without use of the tool.
Yes, this is a PR knot
Well done
You can also see the video on making PR knots using sinkers on my channel
Awesome, I'll check it out. Thanks
Thank you and nice to meet you. May you always be filled with happiness
Still FG knot but done by each side. It takes more time than normal FG knot. Imagine when you have to do it at the fishing site .... do it then you will see the difference.
Most people say this is a PR knot without a bobbin
Shoot, I can't imagine tying a FG out on the boat. I can tie the FG. Not a pro but I can tie one.
There's an easier way to tie the Fg, you can tie a braided line to knob reel. You can find it on my channel 🙏
Or you could do what like everyone else does and tie up the night before so you don’t have waist time when you get out on the water.
any knot is strong if u do it correctly
Thank you for your advice, sir.
You must have hands of steel.
My sissy hands would be cut to pieces.
I wear gloves. 😂
You should really use gloves, friend
But we'll done
👍
Not an FG , that looks like a bobb8n knot without the bobbin
This is not an Fg knot, sir, many say this is a PR knot without bobbins
The time you waste doing this "embroidery" is done by making two throws with a simpler knot
I am sorry 🙏😅
This knot is meant to be reeled through the guides on the road and be a long term thing so you can have a topshot or 20ft leader material and cast it through
👍
Doing this out at sea with shaking hands cos there’s action going on and time is of the essence….no thanks. There’s way easier knots that are plenty strong enough
I also don't do it when I'm on a boat. for fast games I prefer Alberto
Wow, spend all day tying, not fishing, then you forget the coconut oil, and the whole day is shot.
🤣✌
PR knot, get yourself bobbin tool !
😁👍
It takes too long to tie The FG knot is easer
Thank u 👍
uni knot would be easier.
If you use a 60lb leader line, it will be difficult to use the uni knot.
@@pescadorestamora ok
Ya I don’t know anyone who would ever tie a uni knot for a wind on leader ever. Knot is to big and rough to repeatedly keep casting thru guides
Way to long, gotta be done in 60 seconds max. Imo
Actually this is quite fast, but if I make a video quickly. Can other friends follow it?
@@pescadorestamora why wouldnt they.???
If you watch a fast video, you will definitely get very confused
@@pescadorestamorathere's 3 option video speed
Ten minutes to do this
It should be faster, but if I make it faster. Can it be called a video tutorial? 🤔
This is the same basic knot as the FG tied in a different way is all. It uses the same Chinese finger trap method and half hitches so the strength would be exactly the same! And its spelled "KNOT", not node dipstick. lol
Thank you for taking the trouble to scroll and provide criticism 😁
PR knot without bobbin❤❤❤
Does the uni knot and clinch knot have the exact same strength
no thanks. too long, too much effort.
😁
HAHAHAHA!!!!
Thats is still a FG KNOT... just being twisted from front to brack.... i got THUMB NAIL BAITED LOL
But many say this is a PR knot
@@pescadorestamora i can seee you agree it's still an FG knot, only a different way of tying it. lol
