@@JasonTako you're very welcome!! I finished a painting on Saturday at a park around my neighborhood.. the amount of green applied was necessary considering feeding it to my 25" × 25" stretched canvas.🖼 That's a whole lot of love. Thanks for sharing your video, keep up the good work 👏🏾
I really enjoyed this video. I'm a beginner but always thought you had to paint the background first. As you've shown- its not true- turned out beautiful! Look forward to trying it out. Thanks!
That's great Lynette! Let me know how it works! From a technical standpoint it can be challenging, but it really helped me get better values and colors.
Thanks for the video. I always get a thrill to see that you've uploaded a fresh one. I was watching this one again and now I'm curious, which Gamblin Portland Gray is that? Cold or Deep or Light?
Glad you are enjoying the videos! I'm using Portland Grey Warm. I don't really use it in the studio as I just mix the color there. But I like it for plein air because it pushes certain values and colors back in the distance fairly quickly.
You're welcome Debra, thanks for watching! I'm painting on oil-primed linen that I just cut from a big roll and taped down on hardboard with masking tape.
I'm new to your channel and really enjoying it....you have more color on your plien air pallet than I have on my studio pallet..I get it but I would have a total mess if I did 16 -18 colors..lol
So glad you are enjoying it! I usually have about 12-13 colors on my palette. But there was a time when I did every painting, including plein air with just the three primaries and white.
Thank you for all these incredible tips! I I understand that it's cheaper, but I was wondering why you were painting on paper and not on a canevas or board? Do you sell your paintings on paper? Thanks Fabien
Thanks for watching Fabien! I'm not painting on paper (though I do for small studio studies), I'm painting on scraps of oil-primed linen that I tape down on masonite.
Love your comment re “this isn’t the same color as the subject background, but I don’t care” , true art!
Thanks Lyn!! Just have to go with your heart at times.
thank you very much for tips! like
Thanks so much! Glad it helped!
I like the amount of assorted colors you used to create such a nice painting 👍🏾
Thank you Cedric! I appreciate that!

@@JasonTako Thank you.
You're the best!
Really enjoyed your video. If you could make the painting area closer, and so easier to see what you are doing, that would be helpful.
Glad you are enjoying the video. Thanks for the suggestion but if I made the painting area larger, you wouldn't be able to see my palette. ;)
@@JasonTako Yes, thanks Jason, , I see your point.😊
Thanks for your videos. I'm learning a lot. What surface are you painting on?
