Painting The Form of Hills Plein Air
Thanks for this video. Just want to say that personally, I think the model of just showing the first 20 mins and then jumping to patrion is not a great model given the size of your audience. RUclips is a dopamine based platform and Patreon is a community support platform. The ideal is to produce the highest dopamine product on YT and then give great personal bonuses on Patreon. My recommendation: show the whole video here but in high speed with key moments at normal speed. The old model is to give a tiny bit then charge for the rest. Very old model. The new model is to give it all but too fast for people who want to do the thing. You get a lot more eyeballs on your work and the focus on conversions for sweeteners. It’s more of a thought leader, content creator model. Each video could be a complete lesson, excellent highlight of how to creat a painting… but if you want the details on mixing, the extended commentary and maybe the finishing 10% of the painting, head over to Patreon. Today’s model is that if you want conversions (Patreon, courses…) you need to give 7x more than you ask… in this case you’re offering 20 mins in a format that’s less watchable than it could be and asking folks to just assume the rest is great and to head over to a paid platform. Unlikely to make people super excited to join you there. Until it feels crazy generous, people won’t care. The key is how do you do that without killing yourself. One simple solution would be: every time you drop a gem, cover the camera for a second. This gives your editor points to find the best bits quickly and you just make the paintings. If you need an inexpensive editor, LMK. Just my 2 cents. ;)
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I may consider this, it sounds more time-consuming but I may give this a try. Thanks!
Dose no one notice how there’s a movie called nitram and the title has the same font as the packaging on these pens
You're a very good teacher. Relatable and articulate. Not to mention you're skilled and naturally talented. I love your passion.
Thank you very much!!
Beautiful work as always 👌
Thanks so much!
Wonderful painting thank you for sharing God bless
Thank you and God bless you too!
❤
Thank You for the lesson.
Hi Sir, could you advise me on how I can make compositions like this , I am in love with these compositions, horse riders with depth in landscape etc..
There is no magic trick of advice that anyone can give. I would start out by getting Edgar Payne's book Composition of Outdoor Painting. Then doing lots of sketches both from life and ideas in your mind. Best wishes!
I found the use of palette knife most instructive. Lovely effect.
Dude! Totally brilliant teaching! I am in! Love this work and they way you explain what, why and how...in real time...adding myself as a student! Thank you!
Thank you so much Steve! So glad you like it! Keep painting my friend!
A'HO! very nice. thank you for sharing.
You really know how to manipulate values to make the subject look more real than the photos. Loved watching your process.
Hello Sir It's Like I Was Seeing A Painting By ROBERT BATEMAN. I like BRAVO sir 👍👍👏👏
Thank you very much! Bateman is a Master for sure! That is a kind compliment to liken my work to his.
Hello from Germany! I learn a lot by watching you painting and hearing to your comments- although I don't understand every single word. Thank you so much! Christine
I hope all is well in Germany. Thanks for watching Christine!
What is source and strength of light ? What is focal point ?
I think you missed the point. This is not meant to be a finished painting, but merely to explain the concepts one should be aware of when painting trees.
@@JasonTako Thanks for info. I feel that the basics start with the basics
Sorry I replied too quickly. However, I think that mentioning the light source ...would have added structure to your video at little cost. Ignore the focal point comment.
@@davidsmith-ln2de That is a good consideration. But the angles and consequent values concept that Carlson talks about applies in most lighting, whether it's front or backlit, overcast or sunny. There are exceptions of course, but for the most part, it applies. I guess that was what I was trying to get across. This was not meant to be a comprehensive video on all aspects of painting a tree, that would take hours. This was just to address some of the big things people may miss. Thanks for your feedback and for watching!
@@JasonTako Many thanks for your reply.
I like both trees :)
Superr interesting thanks
😂Merveilleux
Bonjour comme j’aime votre technique, j’essaie de peindre comme ça,une peinture lâche, des valeurs la lumière et l’ombre. Je tends vers le ténébrisme ou le flou.
That was absolutely brilliant! Now I'll get to working on precisely what my paintings lacked. Thank you for the demonstration!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I love green-gold
More impressionism than abstract, but beautiful nonetheless.
Loved it. Great to learn some basics !!
I really try but I get caught up in the detail too much :( I do all abstract art (but with definition and form) and it's hard for me to draw realistic things. But thank you for the showing the techniques :)
For me you are the best ,!!! Or One of the best Thank you so much for sharing with us ❤
Some good and bad in this tutorial.trees in other parts of the world can be much darker than the ground especially in the UK.
Valt tegen twee bomen lijken niet op elkaar.
preferred the first one.......... no more lessons please
Not sure if you realized... you can choose to watch what you want, and not watch what you don't want.
Looks like at this point…A woman with a baby on her back
Ink blotch test. It wasn't meant to be a great painting, but just to illustrate a concept.
Beautiful
This has been a really valuable experience for me. Thank you❤
Thanks for watching!
Hi I'm Daniel...how are you Jason Lee?, awesome work!.. I hava question can I use the same techniques with pastel?
Thanks for your kind words! Not sure on pastels, as I never use them. Experiment and see what happens.
Thank you so much for teaching me how to really paint You are a wonderful artist and person ❤❤
Thank you kindly! I'm very glad you found this helpful in your own painting journey!
Best mountain painter I ever saw And all else Good for you 😅
Thank you very much! That is very kind of you.
You painted it extremely good Good Teacher ❤
Yes post!!
I took me 2 years to get over Bob Ross's style.
He can be an inspiring place to start, but not a good place to stay.
If ur ever in the Morgantown WV / Pittsburgh area. I can take u to several places like that. ESPECIALLY in the fall. One place is quite unique. The stream is every bit as lively. It's an expert only grade rapids. What makes it so unique is they closed the iron bridge. Not for safety reasons. U would be able to set up in the middle of the bridge if you wanted and not be bothered by vehicles. If you read this, I can send u pictures or a short video if you like. People come to WV from all over to "take in the colors". We are in the heart of the Appalachians. I've been to Maine and Vermont. They have nothing on us. Just saying P.s. if ur a grouse hunter I could get u a few flushes I'm sure. ✌️
That sounds awesome!! That part of PA is beautiful, though I've never really spent any time there. You can email me through my website www.jasonleetako.com
Beautiful painting thanks, greetings from Australia 🇦🇺.
Thank you!! Take care "Down Under."
Good teaching. Thank you.

I'm a self taught super realist oil painter, but I just love this, and watching you work. Well done bro.❤
Thank you kindly!!
I've been an artist now for about 1 year. that bad example genuinely looks like some of my paintings. I like that you keep things simple and focused on the quintessential lesson, and I really learned something very important today, and will try to apply those things the next time I grab a brush. And yes, I am in love with my fan brush :D Thank you very much, greetings from good ol' germany
Thank you and I'm glad you found this helpful! Nothing wrong with fan brushes. I now use them myself here and there. Keep painting!
