at the very least give us episode noctis so we can have noctis team up with ardyn to take down that giant asshole god bahamut who made both their lives hell.
SuperButterBuns yeah, a lot of side stuff, I got 60 hours played when I finished the story, and I still have a ton of side activities. (I did a lot of side stuff during story, also had the game Friday already, hence the 60 hours)
SuperButterBuns I'm sorry I had to say my boyfriend showed me your channel and I love all of your work you were both hilarious and share my love of Kingdom Hearts. also the pain of waiting oh God we waited so long
Ehh without spoiling i will say it sorta does. Like you bout to do the wack side of the story but overall it leaves a what could have been feeling instead.
14:25 *Noctis*: (about to do an attack) Ignis! No wait, Prompto! *Prompto*: Wha? Where who? This program has been brought to you by Actual Dialogue In The Game (TM)
I swear to god I spent over 40 minutes reeling in a big ass fish (no really, over half an hour for ONE fish) and my line nearly broke, the music picked up and got hype as shit once the line was halfway dead, the controller vibrated a whole bunch and my hands nearly went numb, the tension made my hands sweaty like hell and when I finally reeled it in Noct could hardly carry it, so Gladio jumped right into the ocean, Prompto pushed Iggy in and Noct kicked Prompto in, then they all held the fish together with Prompto taking a picture (motherfucking fish longer than all 3 of them combined lol) and at the end of the day I saw the picture and Noct was actually smiling and it was amazing and beautiful.
I'm sick of ppl being so pessimistic about this game thank you for such an honest review, yeah the combat could use some more depth but it's not that bad I've been having the time of my life with this game
I never understood "not worth the wait" like It doesn't take any effort to "wait" its what you do passively And its not like you chose not to buy it Like... it's not like you'd rather _not_ have the game for _not_ waiting, the passing of time is sort of unstoppable. The only way "not worth the wait" makes sense to me is if everyone has lost interest by the time it releases, which clearly isn't the case here.
Because while waiting they are working on only one product. They could have been working on something better. I did in fact lose interest in FF about 2 years ago because I discovered SMT/Persona.
It's because people have this assumption that more time passing = more time spent refining a game = more quality. But the reality is that nobody actually plans for a game to spend 10 years development (and certainly not active development) so if a game is announced but you seem to be waiting an eternity and there are no signs of progress or we see a major overhaul/major cuts before it ever materializes, as with FFXV, what you're seeing is an indication of mismanagement/incompetence. The exception to this is that occasionally something crazy will happen like the parent company or publisher going under/cutting funding and you can't blame the devs but that's not what happened here.
Kaasen Seemed to me like Nomura was balancing a lot of different projects with the Kingdom Hearts games and FFXV and FFVII remake and still being the character designer for like 30 projects Hence why they rebranded and passed it off to Tabata to take the reins. Tabata stepped in at about the same time as the branding and Buns did say the game looks to match the dev time since his entrance, so I'm thinking maybe the other projects had them too busy to actually work on XV until they did that.
***** The truth is we'll never know the exact reasons why FFXV got put on the back burner unless the staff decides to comment on it honestly. Still, Nomura being on so many different projects and not focused on XV is a sign of the mismanagement I was talking about. If they wanted to get the game out in a timely manner so that it could still be paired with XIII then they should have had a dedicated staff assigned to it AND waited until it was coming along before they announced it. Seeing the final product, it's pretty clear they also made the mistake of wasting a lot of resources due to everything we know they scrapped over the course of development.
FFXV is a much more fun game than XIII, although XIII had an infinitely better story. Also the linear segments of the later half is actually much worse than the hallway simulators that VII, X, AND XIII. I won't say how exactly, but the game actually throws away every fun element of the game for an extremely poorly made narrative.
SuperButterBuns I feel like so much important plot points were either removed or just wasn't made. Fortunately the main cast is really strong which I think keeps the rest of the game a float.
MrHPfan4ever Same, I'm really liking the game. I could definitely see myself replaying this game a couple more times. Which is a good thing to hear for any RPG.
First game to ever make me cry. Everyone should focus on sidequests before doing the main story, helps you build that bond with the characters instead of rushing through a 10-14hour long story.
To be fair, no game has been, nor ever will be, worth anything close to waiting ten years for. And did anyone really "wait" for this game? They just... ceased playing all games waiting for this?
Just a side note. FF13 WAS a good game. However, it was simply mired with weird design decisions. When people bring up linearity as an issue, Final Fantasy has always been linear, so it's a non-argument. What really made it feel linear was the lack of a lot of hubs, like in Final Fantasy X where you could interact and do the typical RPG things. I recall like one or two significant ones before they open the world up. Another issue. Auto battle. Take it out. Done. Period. It sucks. If they did those two things, guaranteed 13 would've had a way better reception. PS: Also I find it asinine that people think Final Fantasy has to be a long game. 25 hours is plenty for a Final Fantasy game and most people complain about padding in Final Fantasy anyways. You can't have it both ways, with a long game vs unnecessary padding.
boi That's subjective. I've seen enough FF13 Story affectionados, where I can't draw that conclusion as definitive fact. Now if you want to talk about the pile of fecal matter that was 13-2 and Lightning returns....
At least they’re patching in and adding dlc to actually complete the story. For some reason this is my favorite ff game personally. I’ve played it 2 times and keep playing. I’m glad that they’re actually trying to finish it completely.
I dont think that ANY game is worth a 10 year development (exceptions are if there is only 1 developer and its only a fan project) NO game can justify the hype which has been building up for so long but thats just my opinion man...
I feel like the hype for this game has only existed for about 3 years now tho. When it was reimagined as XV and took on a new life. I think a few people were interested in Versus XIII but it was also just a side game that didn't really exist for the longest. A lot of the early trailers we saw for it had no real plot to them. They were just cool scenes made to look interesting. So I'd say XV itself was probably been in development for about maybe 4 or 5 years? Because aside from the broad strokes like characters they've changed it all to quite a degree.
Dakota Burgos Chi KH3 hasn't been in development for 10 years *facepalm* it's only been in development since it was announced to have been in development in 2015 maybe a little bit longer but no KH3 at most at this point has had a 2-3 year development cycle and we'll hopefully be seeing it in 2018 but right now still no definite release date
The over 240 GOTY awards & 95 metacritic score TLOU got shows that even if Naughty Dog did 10 years to make that game no one would have complain after experiencing the final product, be sure about that, this game is one of the few that would be worth w8ing 10 years to play it.
yeah LoU was mediocre or average at best and yet it got 10s everywhere, like wtf? even the gameplay was cover shoot and oh MY GOSH one of the longest escort missions in gaming ugh, it wont say i didnt enjoy it but it wasnt that great either. As for the 10 years wait lets see... Duke Nukem......cough Shit cough Diablo 3......... Ok. FF 15.........Ok Nioh........for me it looks excellent, hope the final product is as good as the beta.
My favorite thing to do in FF XV is to just wander around without a goal in mind, and camping to get those sweet, sweet num nums. It SOUNDS boring, but the music makes it really fun for some reason. I could care less about the buffs the food gave me, because all i care about is eating the food. If only they showed more eating of the food... Also, pro tip: to get the Ulwaat berries, go to Cape Caem and plant a garden by talking to Iris. AKA Waifu Woman. Plant the carrots, and give them to the restraunt guy for the berries. THERE! I SAVED YOU FROM RUNNING AROUND FOR 2 HOURS!
The thing is for those who played ff 7 all those years ago, they will never play another game that will make them feel like 7 did overall its nostalgia, this is an amazing game and people should not even compare the two when they are so diferent and tbh 7 wasnt even that good lol i found more enjoyment in 13 xD but like butterbuns.... "my taste is crap" ;)
the one thing i hope for if it does get ported is they put a lot of effort into making the port a really good port. i'm a console gamer but i always get really mad at devs who think they can just shaft our fellow gamers because they have a PC like seriously it's fucking bullshit.
hopefully it will but it has always been a more console centric franchise. Remember how many people bought PS3 over 360's because of the FF7 tech demo and the fact FF had been exclusive to the NES and then the PS for the longest time and then the riots when square announced the 13 trilogy would be multiple platforms, but no one on PC even blinked and if thats not enough then remember that most people who have grown up with the franchise from the "glory days" of FF are getting on a bit now and they most likely just play casually and have a console. So ye there are plenty of PC gamers who would like this game and I hope they get to experience it as it is a great FF game but I wouldn't say they have lost a HUGE amount of players from not releasing on PC but a decent amount
ChaosCloud96 i don't doubt that they considered it and decided it wasn't worth it at the time especially since i know a lot of people have both a PC and console
I think the biggest thing to keep in mind when looking at games like this is that the FF team/SE are trying to evolve the franchise with the times. The video game industry and it's market are a hell of a lot bigger than it was back in the days of FFVII and previous. A bigger market means a much heavier mixture of players and their preferences. A lot of players in the VG market nowadays are used to gameplay with a faster-pace to it so turned-based combat doesn't pick-up as well anymore. Square are trying to respect the tastes of it's hardcore & longtime fans while adjusting the formula to work with more of today's generation of gaming so they can still reach a large audience and make the money. FFXII & FFXIII were obvious signs of this and it fell flat (even though I also liked FFXIII but I can fully understand people's dislike to it) but hallelujah, FFXV, our saviour has arrived and it really has put my hopes back up for the future of the series. I pretty much agree with everything you said, Buns. I have still yet to finish the game since I like to do a handful of side-quests to get some extra tasty EXP before moving on (I'm at 14hrs right now and not even close to touching the halfway point). I really love the charm of sharing Prompto's photos on social media; it really helps you feel like you really are travelling with these lovable nerds. I just really hope Square don't get too used to treating future stories like this. Besides that, I can go around sharing my love for the FF series again without having angry gamers bombard me with insults and calling me trash. I LIVE
The thing that kills it for me is that they change the game in lots of ways just to appeal to a broader audience, not to "evolve with the times". Bravely Deafult is proof that JRPG fans don't care about real-time action or graphics, and even SE admitted to it. However, they still try to make the series about fucking action and graphics, and I just don't get it. Lost Odyssey recently came out for free on the Xbox One. I began playing it and it looks like it is the Final Fantasy I've been waiting for: a nice, turn-based combat system thats not overwhelmed by jobs and gambits and other nonsense; a plot that's turning out to be really interesting, and even a few nice touches like using viewports to show the caracters' faces during cutscenes, just like JRPGs of old used to. It's just so weird when your game is obviously "more final fantasy" than Final Fantasy is itself. It's like watching Wasteland 2 and Fallout 4 without knowing what the hell happened with Fallout.
The thing is, turn based action just isn't engaging for most people. Good graphics don't make a game, but they're always a nice thing to have. I never really played final fantasy (save for trying the game out) because the idea of going through a 70 hour experience of turn based combat sounded like at least 30 hours of having to deal with a combat system that felt more like playing checkers against a senile opponent than actual fighting. The AI and their strategies in the ff games were always bad, the only thing they had that made them difficult was overpowered attacks. I wouldn't mind turn based combat against good AI, but I still prefer real-time combat, it lends itself better to in the moment tactics, and allows you to actually be caught off guard by things, it also increases responsiveness and immersion.
Noct is a pretty enjoyable character if you spend more time with him. He suffers from high expectations that he would be another Cloud, but SE did come out and say that they are not making another Cloud or Squall. He has way more dialogue and is more relatable than Lightning. One of the best so far I seen from him is his reaction when Takka asked him to fetch some beans. The gameplay also help connecting him to us the players, like fishing and side missions with his buddies. I have only gotten to chapter three, which mean I haven't gone outside of the gameplay footage/ demo yet, and the game still captives me in small and numerous ways. It is the little things that make me like Final Fantasy, which 13 seriously lacked.
FFXV was my entry to the franchise and I fell in love, then I bought XIII and was like omg refund. after chapter 9 XV feels rushed , I saw the prompts you mentioned and I thought “oh ok, couple of missions and I get back” and suddenly boom game completed. the time travel with umbra felt disconnected to me, it doesn’t make sense that you relive your memories but the xp , gear and weapons come with you (? I know, it’s a videogame but it felt weird, like a hot fix to not piss people off for leaving them strained from the open world. the best part by far were the chocobros and their friendship, super well achieved.
If they had to choose between doing something more interesting with the Emperor and his cronies, and even a quarter of the little details that make up the open world bro-bonding, I am all for the choice to go with the latter bc even if the intricacies of the story fall flat the ultimate purpose of making the ending hurt like all hell in the face of how attached to this boyband you'd gotten was an absolute success. All the random dialogue, the spontaneous cool stuff everyone does during fights, tours, talks, cooking and photos and teasing and driving and camping and all the little pieces of animation showing them being people amidst all that makes me so goddamned happy Seriously though, I swear the dev team kept getting told to wait on rewrite after rewrite of what the higher ups wanted out of the main storyline so in the meantime they just kept working on the open world segment, adding any and every detail they could think of until said higher ups just went 'fuck it, THATS the game!'
I think what I love most about this game is that it's present day but still has magic. I HATE worlds that have the cliches of mages and elves and warriors. Ugh. Update, please! XV gives us that, magic that I can imagine in the regular world and characters that don't feel larger than life. Noctis and his friends feel real which makes connecting with them much more enjoyable.
Just gonna go on record, I've never watched Kingsglaive, I didn't watch Brotherhood until I platinumed the game, and I have a crystal clear image of the story.
I like how this game makes you use all the systems, and how drops back on all the fast traveling you normally find in open world games. It makes everything feel like a journey, even just turning in a sidequest across the map.
Sipke Evenhuis Totally on the same page. The way Buns describes it, FFXV sounds like a cool game to go to straight after playing Xenoblade Chronicles. Maybe a bit less so for Xenoblade X, but that's not neither here or there. …Actually, now that I think about it, Xenoblade X sounds like a good "For Beginners" candidate if Buns ever decides to do another one for a WiiU game. Thoughts?
Nice review!! (You appreciated it even before patches updates & add ons etc) BUUUT combat is MUCH more than just warp striking & timing attacks/dodges, its also about which teammate to work with & when, & utilizing magic & skills besides stuff like chain striking, armiger use etc etc..
Luna was originally suppose to have a story line that deals with her being abused. However, due to fans outraged, it was cut. Final Fantasy XV (versus XIII) was first revealed at E3 2006. Since then, the game has gone through tons of changes such as name, director and console generation. The all-male playable cast of Final Fantasy XV was influenced by Tetsuya Nomura's desire for the game to have a "road movie vibe" as well as personal experiences from when Nomura was young. This is the first Final Fantasy game to be composed by Yoko Shimomura. Robbie Daymond (Prompto) and Ray Chase (Noctis) Are both good friends in real life and are constantly vlogging together
I was a first timer with this game and the Final Fantasy series and I ended up loving it regardless of the way the story was presented. I had some problems with frames during combat, but that's to be expected of a large game such as this.
Four years later, but It's nice to see a review (...?) being this positive on a game that evidently suffers a lot of problems but at the end it's a nice experience. The only thing I wouldn't agree it's the "massive" extra content outside the main story: I would say it's not that much, the problem is the game not helping you to manage the information of multiple quest at the time. Just for example, opening the map and not being able to see multiple objectives at a time was so frustrating because if I want just waling through the map doing the sidequest as they appear I can't because each time I need to be aware of where these quests are. Nice game, nice review, the DLCs improved way much some of the characters so I hope you played them too :)
Hey lady I don't know who you are but holy FUNK! do I love your charismatic attitude. Your voice too, it's hella hot. in faaaact I like the way you went about this, I saw you from your dirge of Cerberus video and this is actually my second video im watching of yours. You're absolutely funny! the choice of wording is very similar to how I think, talk, walk, sing. I think.....and this might sound fucking crazy! but I think ill be checking out more of your content, subscribe even if I like what im browsing. pretty good, not bad, not bad. "butter buns?" funny name. shit lady you're absolutely on point.
So what I'm hearing is, "It's a shit game but it looks pretty". I really wanted it to be good. The story, characters and gameplay were tossed for a far too ambitious open world that looks good. Without those three things it's no longer a FF game and feels more like skyrim. I know they are trying to address the lack of open world since FFIX but this just didn't work.
listen to me my friends... If you are looking for an Rpg with hella story content... PERSONA 5 I've spent 600 hours with multiple playthroughs and I'm STILL coming back for more.
XV doesn't have the story because they told most of it in the anime and the movie and all the dlc the base game pretty much focuses on gameplay and open world exploration which it does really good
My biggest beef was Ardyn. He's the first Final Fantasy character in YEARS that I've really loved, and his backstory was MAYBE given a few lines. They basically did the equivalent of taking out the flashback to Cloud's home town in FFVII and what drove Sephiroth to madness, and replacing it with a line of dialogue that went something like, "he found out a weird alien was his mother, and then went crazy and burned the town". Ardyn's backstory was tragic, and interesting(I would be pissed if I were him too), and deserved better than the treatment they gave it. I can only hope he gets a tie in SOMETHING. Don't get me started on the second half of the game. I actually liked the linear fashion as I liked the straight story quest to story quest aspect, but it's clear they took a show don't tell narrative for the game, and then forgot to SHOW anything. The game might as well have been called FFXV: It Happened Offscreen. I found that sad because the actual lore of the game, and the lore of the world, and the characters they set up, are really interesting. They just decided not to actually TELL the story in anything other than the barest effort. :( I'm serious... I learned more about the story of the game reading the guidebook than I did playing the game. :P As you said.. I was one of the ones that was in it for the story. :( I enjoyed the open world aspect, but I was really looking forward to the story, and was left feeling sad after I beat it. The game itself is actually a good game, and a lot of the mechanics work well, it just irked me that it felt like they only added the story as a sort of afterthought. :(
well there is the side scrolling beat em up named A Kings Tale which is regis' journey with cor, cid and weskham and luna gets a lot of character development through flashbakcs, the trailers, kingsglaive and FF brotherhood episode 2 (though this focuses mostly on prompto it does actually give you some insight on luna as a child) another thing is there will be 4 major DLC packages. Episode Prompto Episode Gladiolus Episode Ignis Multiplayer/Co-op
lemme just give you a rundown of how the past few days have been. Preordered the game. got the game. got home only to have the electric go out (since i live in the middle of no where) wake up to go to work the next day and the electric is back. go to work for a double shift. get home. put the game in. Electric goes out again while game is installing. wtf electric. work again today. hopefully i'll be able to play this game at some point.
You bought a game you don't have a system with which to play it? Nah, I won't kill you. Stupidity like that ensures that natural selection will run its course eventually.
Thanks for not spoiling anything, Buns. I'm pleased with this overview. Not sure how far I'm into the story since I've spent a fair bit of time fopping around doing side content, but I'm personally really enjoying the game a ton. And I'm personally *really* interested to see what Ardyn's going to do at the end.
Enjoyed your review. Straightforward and to the point. Just what I expected from the buns. I am a little saddened that it only took you 25 hours to get to the game's ending though. I beat Star Ocean 5 after about 35 hours even after completing 95% of side jobs. This isn't a great trend for Squeenix. I'm planning on getting the game later this month and your video helped me solidify the choice.
Yeah, honestly, my only real issue with the story is that the supplemental material is required reading/viewing. I will never understand why people decide to market their games by with so much separate material! Halo has had this problem every since 343 took over, and the story in that franchise went to SHIT because of it. Supplemental Material should only be used to give events in the main title more context. I didn't have a problem with the story, because, like you, I was already well invested in it. I watched Brotherhood and Kingsglaive, and all I could think when they referenced it was, "why didn't they just have this in the game somewhere?" Anyways, i'm enjoying your channel so far, so thanks for this video.
That is because Final Fantasy XV was original going to be a trilogy like Final Fantasy XIII before the switch in Directers and Final Fantasy XV was also going to be part musical. There did deep cuts to the game to the point there had all the lore and set pieces on the cutting room floor. So there made Kingsglaive and Brotherhood. A Kings Tail Final Fantasy XV. As some parts where in early development while others where near completed. The shift in Final Fantasy XV was to actually get it out of development and deliver a game otherwise Final Fantasy XV would still be in development for another 10 years. The story was going to span something like 30 years across all three games and become a massive saga. But it was cut down to one game. You need to check-out the development story of the game to understand why so much other stuff was made. As I have just given you the highlights of a long 5 years story the is more but that is to do with Final Fantasy versus XIII which covers the first 5 years
I will say this and not sure if Buns will see it, but I am 100% a fan of XV. I tried other Final Fantasy games like X/X-2 and Type 0 HD, but I feel like XV is 100% my official start into the Franchise I got the Deluxe Edition that had both the game and the Kingsglaive movie, and later in a few years got another copy of the game.again, but this time, and finally, the Royal Edition where I obtain the expansion dungeons, comrades, and all 3 DLC episodes. Still working on getting Episode Ardyn and replaying it again made me realize and respark how much I love XV. The characters are great and the world of Eos was fun to explore. Noctis was my most favorite protagonist cause of his versatile abilities, and the fact he looks like Sasuke from Naruto XD Joking aside, playing though up to ch.8 so far I enjoy the story and the additional content it has. And while aware that the plotline does get a little messy by the second half of the game, as well as knowing areas where cut from the original, and I acknowledge that, I think XV was, in my opinion, amazing entry to the FF franchise. Was it a bit messy and could have done better? Yes, could they still have release the other episodes and not cancel them? Of course. Maybe one day for.PS5 they can bring them in as directors cut. But for now, XV will still hold a place in my heart from today, to the day when still in highschool waiting anxiously to get my copy. I hope others give this entry a chance one day as it was as a great journey with the crew from beginning to end I am now in the process to play the DLC episodes soon
As someone who didn't watch any of the stuff SE put out before actually releasing 15, the story line wasn't... TOO confusing. Even if I didn't have some guy's backstory or know what happened before event XYZ, the game makes it pretty obvious what's going on. At least if you have half a brain. However, the story isn't really... good. And like, yeah, open world blah blah but I'm the one sitting here like "but mah stori!" I mean it got feelsy in the end but it was predictable and had very very VERY little surprises. (I still wanna know how Prompto was the dude thing all along.)
It's like they tell you one thing about them then they NEVER TALK ABOUT IT AGAIN. They don't really go outside of their stereotypes. I like them for their interactions, but there just isn't much development besides like, small things that happened during the story line.
This was the first video I saw from this channel. And man, did I love it. Totally subscribed. You're very straight forward and have a simple way to say things, that's really good, and you don't find that often. Nice job! :)
What made you come to that conclusion? I don't see any game mechanics in FFXV that could have been possibly influence by Persona 4. IF you are talking about prompto being like yousuke , i am afraid that sort of character is quite common in Japanese games.
Hi Buns , i have been playing like 14 hours right now and i am only on chapter 03 . To be honest , i really like the chemistry between noctis and his friends , they always have some funny comments about some situations and well the little history i adavanced well it was pretty good( Maybe is because i am playing with japanese voices ? it seems to mee more expresive than the english voices ) . The side quests are fun also , yeah it seems repetitive but it has something that keep your attention ( The fight maybe ? its very fun) and well i never played FF VII ( I am trying know )but for me at least FF XV it is a very good game :D !! i will wait your begginers guide from this game (Summons). Greetings from Peru !! You have a fan here , take care and keep going girl !!
The game feels very incomplete. A lot of the past trailers and demo battles were not in the full game. Places such as Atlissa felt like there was more areas that were removed. I mean, the place is humungous but we only get a few islands. Also we never really get to explore insomina, but its the crown city or tenebrae , it should be a huge component
Maybe it wasn't a review, but it was one of the most accurate review of this game I have seen. You are one funny and clever individual. I watch Beginners' Guide for games I know I won't play for the great jokes and clever edits. You deserve a billion subscribers. Keep the laughs and opinions coming !
You are my new favorite channel, LOVE what you do!! And I agree with you on all fronts here. I loved Kingsglave and Brotherhood, but I wish the pretty gol durned info they imparted was actually included in the game itself. It would have been cool to still have them as separate entities to just further flesh out the world/story, but the lore/backstories would have really improved the game itself methinks....
I just wanted to say, having finished the game myself, I really feel like you summed up the game perfectly and I am glad I randomly found your video. Thanks for your funny and AWESOME contribution! :D
I'm gonna play this in a few months, when I get my ps4, and damn, this game is one of the main reasons why I want the console (apart from P5 and KH3). Personally, I've enjoyed every Final Fantasy I've played, and I went through most of them. I even liked FFXIII and my favourite is X, which are considered... the most linear ones? Idk? I fricking want this game so bad, doesn't matter the linearity or the open world thing. Thanks for the review/yelling/experience, Buns. You always make everything funny. Keep it up! I'm dying for the beginners guide of this one!
the open world experience is so fucking awesome, the main story is so fucking bad -This game in a nutshell Still, everyone who play jrpg tend to look forward to the story, sooo many people will be dissapointed hahahaha enjoy the game guys!
also hilarious how the first director of the game was so confident in his story that he literally wanted to make it a musical. Good thing he was replaced
Yeah sorry, just read more about it. I didn't know it had changed that much. Wow it seriously is a mess. The scope of the game changed so drastically from versus XIII to XV that the original story just couldnt fit in well at all.
What's wrong with the story? I thought it was pretty neat, the only part I didn't like in pretty much the whole game was Chapter 13, it wasn't enjoyable at all tbh
I just beat this last night and I have to agree with you on most of your points here. I will say that I personally enjoyed the story a lot more toward the end than I expected and I absolutely LOVED the villain in this one. I won't spoil anything, but I agree that ambition certainly is an issue here. I can see where they wanted to go with the story and for the most part, they hit the emotional aspects on the head with the main crew. The side characters needed more love though and once the story started getting really good, I felt it wrapped up too quickly. Otherwise, this game ended up being good enough to surpass it's flaws in my opinion and I am so glad for that. Great videos, btw. Must sub. :)
That option to go back to the entrance of a cave was such a plus and a welcome life saver at times. I was never in danger of dying, but going back the long way seemed like such a headache. I am loving this game and I will never regret picking up my copy.
boi whole bunch of character unique side quests, some cool hunts, there's even Cutscenes that appear randomly after side questing that deepen the characters
When you go to the mechanic to customize the looks of your car, you can change it to the “Regalia Type-D”, which is basically an off roading monster truck that has a jump function. It’s so much fun to drive around
I have never played a single Final Fantasy game in my life, but I was thinking about getting this. I`m gonna watch the Kingsglaive movie in order to understand the story a little better, but I`m still a little bit on the fence about this. Is this a good game for a newcomer to the series?
yes, very much so. just dont expect it to have a story as good as some of the other FFs. Definitely one of the best experiences the series has to offer tho.
Not to mention the unintentional hopping. Mapping the interact and jump commands to the same button was kind of immersion breaking because instead of interacting with the thing like the broody emo prince you are, you end up randomly hopping around like an ADHD person who was just given a redbull and a pack of pixie sticks.
Killer Klown And probably the Brotherhood anime. I haven't watched either, and though Buns makes it out like you'll be lost the whole story without it (No offense), there were a few parts that I got confused on, but slowly understood it. Be cautious, I say.
chickmcjr weirdly enough I just finished it one day before this came out. it was a great game don't get me wrong but this game, so far, is trumping xenoblade
Main gripe is being stuck playing as one character, would have loved switching too the others even if they played differentially and hearing that we will be able to play as them in dlc only is frustrating. Its like they are saying yeah we worked out how to you can play as the others but $60 aint enough for that privilege we need more money before you do that. Dont know what the problem is controlling multiple characters in an rpg these days.
I'd like to see what Square-Enix could do with a throw back to a more traditional steampunk turn based Final Fantasy with a world map and an airship. 15 is fine for what it is but I wouldn't want 16 to be this upgraded, Final Fantasy has survived as a franchise by constantly changing, then revisiting it's past and tweaking it. I think it's time to look backwards for a title.
I didn't watch Kingsglaive or Brotherhood but I still really liked the story. I play games for the story mostly and despite the fact it was short I still really liked it. I do wish it was a bit longer but it was still good, at least in my opinion, though parts were executed poorly.
I know its a steep price, but it is worth it. You get so much for your buck. If you don't go through the story in one fell swoop you get so much open world and other fun stuff to do.
Hey there :D! Just subscribed, love the videos I've watched so far. I know I'm kinda late for this video but I just wanted to say that I agree with most things you've said in the beginners video and this one, one of the things that gets on my nerves is when you're riding the chocobo and they're trying to pass you to look all cool and epic (looking at you Gladio) and they just bump into you a thousand times. Keep up the good work :)
Yup. Much better than 15. Its not like I hate 15, but the dugeons were super boring and repetitive. Even ps1 dugeons were better and I never got tired of them. The story was rushed. They didn't have the time to finish the game properly. Its a game that I will never play again for sure.
You have said it in the best way I could say, there are some people that have NOT played FF XIII. Really. But I will tell you one thing buns: First: This game is awesome, FF XIII made a good story but didn't had any RPG thing iside it, it was a hallway simulator. FF XV don't give you so much story but it gives you a lot of content to play. Really there's a LOT. And I think Lightning and Noctis just resembles Cloud, Lightning being cool and cold and Noctis with his grief in the second part of the game. So yeah, love this video
How did you only spend 20 hours on your first playthrough of FFVII? Unless you didn't explore or do any of the sidequests, because most people average about 40 on that game even without sidequests.
Thats absolutely impossible. Even if you pressed all the dialogs without reading them only cut-scenes (i mean with dialog in it) is 14 hours long. You re telling us that you did all the fights and traveling of the entire world in 6 hours? Why someone has to lie to give credit to something? Don't you understand that this has the exact opposite effect?
leon voulgaris Lie? I said about 20 hours, I don't remember the precise number. I just remember I didn't reach the 30 hour mark before I started doing all the side stuff, like going after the Weapon bosses and doing Chocobo stuff. I was pretty damn underleveled when I reached the final boss. Also I don't give a crap about Final Fantasy games in general. I only stated that I remember FFVII having taken me only about 20 hours to beat. JRPGs in general seem to be about 20 - 30 hours long anyway, or at least that's the impression I've gotten over the years. Persona being one of the only exceptions, since the game forces you to progress at a pretty damn slow pace anyway. I'd also like to point out that the second disc is significantly shorter than the first disc. Or at least the pacing seems a whole lot faster, since you've basically already explored every major area in the game. The second disc has only couple of new areas, and the third disc is just the final area and the end game content. The first disc feels pretty long, but after that the game starts feeling shorter.
SPOILERS I think adding Tabata was a mistake. Don't get me wrong, I love his games, both Type-0 and Crisis Core are some of my favorite sub addictions to the franchise (right below Tactics) but his games tend to have the exact opposite tone than Nomura's. Nomura makes goofy open-world and light hearted games while Tabata creats games with a depressing linear story. both can work really well but the beginning of the story dosen't match with the last third. Anyone who played FFVII knew Zack was going to die, so the drama worked, the begining of Type-0 made it clear that it wouldn't be a light game much more did the ''we don't remember the dead'' bullcrap, so the drama worked once again. But xv? The drama was smashed in our face in the middle and stayed there till the very end it felt like a completely diferent game. The linearity is comprehensible but from the point where you start to get used to this part of the game chapter 13 comes along and oh boy whata fucking mistake. I think that chapter alone destroyed the high rantings of the game. the labyrinth is a mess, so is the resolve(10 years, really) and the final boss is waste of potential. And I think that's what Tabata did, waste the big potential of the game for drama. So much shit was taken out that should have been kept there. Ravus, Cor, Regis backstory, Luna or Stella backstory. The ending is not bad it just leaves you wishing for more from this world and characters. Final Fantasy XV didn't dissapoint me as much as it left me hanging wishing for the rest of the game that was cut out. At the end of the day it lacks replay value as all Tabata games do and honestly makes me wish for some kind of sequel, spinoff or even retcon that can help my thirst for more. However I think It's important to point out that this is for me a damn good game. I know m opinion is meaningless but It's up there with 4, 6, 7 and 9. As I said before the story knows when to hit you and it does well, the combat is fun, the world is amazing and once again is a game making you wish for more. At the end I just recommend for the new player that waste it's time on the game. Don't go directely to the story, explore and enjoy what it has to offer. Chapter 13 is the under water world from kh or the blitzball from the ffx, bad, but worth going trough for the entire experience. (sorry for my english)
I got into Final Fantasy after Crises Core too. True, Zack's fate was acceptable because we already knew the story of FF7. I did understand the tone of FF Type 0 too. But FFXV didn't ask for a tragic, everyone dies, emo ending to be honest. Zack death was understandable because he died a hero, he died saving Cloud fighting this big giant army without reinforcements. But Luna's death for too forced, Noctis' fate was too forced, the only death I find heroic is King Regis' because he gave up his life so Luna could escape. And his parting words to Luna were beautiful. And so King Regis' death was necessary so Noctis could learn about Loss and the anxiety that comes with it. But Luna was victimised (Hint: DAWN trailer) from childhood to adulthood and died a victim. No way did I feel the "Strong Woman" vibe from her. Amy Shiels - Luna's VA even said that on public events, fans come up to her crying saying how they could relate to Luna's struggles, but the game didn't even show us her childhood which was pathetic. A strong "survive against all odds" kind of a woman would've sent really powerful messages to all of these fans who could relate to her struggles of captivity and abuse. Noctis' death was too forced because he didn't even have the choice. He was sucked into the crystal upon touching it, that's it. Who writes these kind of things? His whole attitude is defying his royal status and all that comes with it. His death, also, was too easy on him, his father was dead, Luna was dead, accepting death was very easy for him. Since when we lose our most close family, we want to die. Living with the loss is the hard choice. I believe had Luna lived, and Noctis' had to accept his death, that would've been the hard choice a 'King' has to make. That made more sense to me. But all in all, I prefer bittersweet endings, where some live and some die, and by that I never ever want the Protagonist to die (unless something like Zack's situation happens). I preferred the Omen trailer concept, it resembled the Versus XIII era and made sense how both Luna and Noctis would bear losses and then eventually see happiness. I don't play games to get depressed you know, I play them to have a temporary escape from a depressing real-world. Somehow, from the official artworks I have seen, the Devs gave the idea tht Noctis will eventually end up questioning the intentions of the Crystal and bahamut itself. They chose Luna's and Noctis' ancestor (or Ardyn). And eventually Luna and Noctis would give that up for a normal life. That plot was very millennial-ish and very very relatable. But now my Endings, all the plot twist, is spoiled. I'm totally off of FF series now, because they're out to be emo instead of well thought out stories with variety in emotions.
I agree with you, I feel like Luna's death came way to soon in the story and she ended up feeling like a plot devise and that at the end Noctis should've let go of his name and lived the rest of his life with the bros. but my point stands that the ending was well executed. The photo scene was really emotional and one of the first times I actually started tearing up in a main Final Fantasy game. I think they made a mistake in keeping true to the Hamlet story. At least they could've given us the option at end. But the biggest problem is that Square gave to much time on things that just werent worth it. We know Cor was going to have a bigger role in the story and that we were meant to participate in the fight for Isomnia(?) the bros had a much bigger impact on us than Luna yet we are meant to believe he's better off with her on the afterlife. Nevertheless I wouldn't call the ending an ''emo'' one. It was planned since the beginning. They made it obvious it was going to be tragedy and they said it was going to be based of Hamlet. Versus xiii had thetone for the ending we rescived not xv. The game itself isn't bad, It's actually really good, but it's that kind of games where spoiling yourself the ending destroy it. I don't think there's anything Square could do about it tho, in this day and age It's really easy to spoil yourself the ending and the road that it would take you to get there is destroyed as well. If this game came out 20 years ago it would be seen as a masterpiece, now It's a good 8/10. Games like the last of us, heavy rain and final fantasy xv are some where the road to the ending is all that matters. It's a waste to just see it online and thinking about picking up or not. But that's just my opinion.
Oh I did play the entire game. I just would never recommend this game to someone who want to play a good RPG. That's all. In all honesty, Only Prompto and Ignis had an impact on me. But fro what Director Tabata said, that ther are 3 pillars to the story that will focus on Noctis' relationship with his father King Regis, Luna and the bros. So the other 2 pillars are not only undermined by cfocusing too much on the bros, that made me cringe till the very end too.
I know which is weird, I prefer the Hollywood style Uncharted more than this now. I believed this would be THE Action JRPG, with hollywood/anime style hero rises upto to save the world in a cool fashion kind of a story. But nooo... they want a Hamlet the JRPG instead. I think they think making games on European, Greek, Norse mythologies will give them points within the Oscar community. LMAO But seriously. Hamlet is only famous in the classrooms because it's meaning is very vague(English teacher are impressed by these things..), not that it's the best writing by Shakespeare, I prefer the Midsummer and Twelve Night, Merchant of Venice more. Should've focused more on the Anime heroic style, it would've been a hit!
Jo Al I don't like the sound of that. I was hoping to avoid the jail-baity character trope, she seems like a secondary character, so we can let it slide i guess. . .
Kingdom Hearts III used to be my fav JRPG but FF7Remake and FFXV's combat is better to me. Mainly bc in KH *all you do* is wack at enemies (besides magic/and select bosses like Org-XIII) and sadly KHII is the only one that had a nice change of pace thru Reaction Commands (KHIII combat better imo). The reason why FFXV and FF7R have better combat to me is bc of how you dismantle your enemies--makes you feel like a tactician/strategist. XV's 'BREAK'/'BLINDSIDE' and 7R's 'STAGGER' and 'WEAKNESS' are innovative and encourage amazing player control. Anyone relate?
I don't think its hyperbole to say that KH's combat altho good is meant to function as an entry point for people getting into JRPGs thru its simplicity. Growing up, you start with KH and as you get older or change you get into the Final Fantasy games' more involved combat.
Shawn Zamir FFXV The problem is the lore, though. It feels very noticeably vague in places, especially for people who have been waiting for this game to come out and have been keeping up with the development.
I'm probably one of the few that want like 6 other games with Noctis and his friends lol
Your not alone bud.
Ignis is my bro
Not alone
I want Anime Noctis. I hope they don't leave this world to the dust
at the very least give us episode noctis so we can have noctis team up with ardyn to take down that giant asshole god bahamut who made both their lives hell.
I should add, it took me 25 hours to BEAT but there is at least 100+ hours of content!
SuperButterBuns yeah, a lot of side stuff, I got 60 hours played when I finished the story, and I still have a ton of side activities. (I did a lot of side stuff during story, also had the game Friday already, hence the 60 hours)
SuperButterBuns patiently waiting for the For Beginners of XV
ohhh ok, i was like "she beat it in 2 days tf?"
people honestly dont know that a rpg game has side quest?
SuperButterBuns I'm sorry I had to say my boyfriend showed me your channel and I love all of your work you were both hilarious and share my love of Kingdom Hearts. also the pain of waiting oh God we waited so long
Back in 2006, Nomura said that this game would be a story of tragedy and i gotta say this ending kept that promise. 😢😢
Uh oh. I'm scared now.
Its amazing though. One of the better if not the best Final fantasy endings.
i'm half/half with the ending. It seem to end on a good note
Well... I'm at chapter 9 and the story is an incoherent mess, so I suppose they manage to somehow pull things back together eventually...
Ehh without spoiling i will say it sorta does. Like you bout to do the wack side of the story but overall it leaves a what could have been feeling instead.
It's so damn good
but 25 hours? I'm only up to chapter 4 and I already have 15 hours in it haha
Well she did bing it.
what can I say I play TO WIN....and also to just see the ending :p
Haha you're a wild gal, I'm excited to see where the story goes!
Indeimaus it's technically 100+ hours with all the sidequests, dungeons, secret bosses, and hunts.
Im on Chapter 3 and I think I've got 18 hours clocked in?

*Noctis*: (about to do an attack) Ignis! No wait, Prompto!
*Prompto*: Wha? Where who?
This program has been brought to you by Actual Dialogue In The Game (TM)
Man this Final Boyband 15 is really pretty.
The God you never knew they too pretty
Not by the end of the game. Things get ugly.
true..Prompo s beard...so bad:D
what beard? its a stubb
Certainly prettier and better than Final Idol 10 - 2 :P
The combat system isn't deep, but it works, and it' really fun in my opinion.
I was too until my game hit a game-breaking glitch. They should have took a bit longer on testing...
"It's honest because I agree with it."

I never understood "not worth the wait"
like
It doesn't take any effort to "wait"
its what you do passively
And its not like you chose not to buy it
Like... it's not like you'd rather _not_ have the game for _not_ waiting, the passing of time is sort of unstoppable.
Kaasen
Seemed to me like Nomura was balancing a lot of different projects with the Kingdom Hearts games and FFXV and FFVII remake and still being the character designer for like 30 projects
Hence why they rebranded and passed it off to Tabata to take the reins.
I agree with the talking twinkie
*inhales* BOI
superheartless777 ?
MazingerDestroXtreme it joke
superheartless777 fight for it you big nerd

FFXV is a much more fun game than XIII, although XIII had an infinitely better story.
Also the linear segments of the later half is actually much worse than the hallway simulators that VII, X, AND XIII. I won't say how exactly, but the game actually throws away every fun element of the game for an extremely poorly made narrative.
Agreed! I feel like 15 didnt expand on its universe or characters as much as it could and its a real shame
SuperButterBuns I feel like so much important plot points were either removed or just wasn't made. Fortunately the main cast is really strong which I think keeps the rest of the game a float.
Also, low key, I'm a huge fan of you.
AveryChu man that stealth section at the imperial keep was sooooooooo shit
AveryChu i disgaree with the linear part. ff13 was way worse with that
I'm personally loving it so far.
MrHPfan4ever
Same, I'm really liking the game.
They just... ceased playing all games waiting for this?
kewldude475 ikr, altough i guess something like red dead 2 could justify a 10 year development
pudimdeuva1 but that game was flawed
Lone Wanderer it was, i found it rly boring and repetitive towards the end. But there's no denying it has close to 10 years worth of polished content.
Jeremy Stanton you have bad taste
*****
Honestly final fantasy games are all so different from each other, that you learn to appreciate the good parts of the former iterations.
Wafflerofl ff13 was bad bc of the script and the bad story telling
boi
That's subjective. I've seen enough FF13 Story affectionados, where I can't draw that conclusion as definitive fact.
Now if you want to talk about the pile of fecal matter that was 13-2 and Lightning returns....
my issue with ff13 is what they did to the eidolans , same reason ff12 kinda urked me
At least they’re patching in and adding dlc to actually complete the story.
Well at least it didn't end up becoming a Duke Nukem Forever, god forbid.
SilverKnightXx guess we'll see what happens with Kingdom Hearts 3 LMAAAOO
I feel like the hype for this game has only existed for about 3 years now tho. When it was reimagined as XV and took on a new life. I think a few people were interested in Versus XIII but it was also just a side game that didn't really exist for the longest. A lot of the early trailers we saw for it had no real plot to them. They were just cool scenes made to look interesting. So I'd say XV itself was probably been in development for about maybe 4 or 5 years? Because aside from the broad strokes like characters they've changed it all to quite a degree.
Dakota Burgos Chi KH3 hasn't been in development for 10 years *facepalm* it's only been in development since it was announced to have been in development in 2015 maybe a little bit longer but no KH3 at most at this point has had a 2-3 year development cycle and we'll hopefully be seeing it in 2018 but right now still no definite release date
i think the biggest game people are wanting to be made is Megaman Legends 3 how long now has it been since that story line hasnt been finished
Now if only i had a PS4
Drantino same. ;-;
Drantino
I hear that lol
Relatable.
Um...Xbox one
Son-of-1 they're both practically same thing except playstation has more jrpgs.
"Was it worth a 10 year wait is such a loaded question," no game is worth a 10 year wait.
No game *so far* has been worth a 10 year wait.
The over 240 GOTY awards & 95 metacritic score TLOU got shows that even if Naughty Dog did 10 years to make that game no one would have complain after experiencing the final product, be sure about that, this game is one of the few that would be worth w8ing 10 years to play it.
Not really. In essence it's still another zombie apocalypse game and we have plenty of them.
yeah LoU was mediocre or average at best and yet it got 10s everywhere, like wtf? even the gameplay was cover shoot and oh MY GOSH one of the longest escort missions in gaming ugh, it wont say i didnt enjoy it but it wasnt that great either. As for the 10 years wait lets see...
Duke Nukem......cough Shit cough
Diablo 3......... Ok.
FF 15.........Ok
Nioh........for me it looks excellent, hope the final product is as good as the beta.
That makes KH3 a nightmare lol. Ffs what unholy mess FFVII remake will bring as well.
Its been a freaking awesome game. I love it! Maigc I do gotta admit is OP as hell XD
I SEE YOU!
Finished? I've racked up about 20hrs and am only past the very first road blockade. Stop to smell the roses here and there, buns!
That, and this game was not released on PC, so they lose a lot of players that way as well.
why did they? FF has always been on console first and then much later ported to PC, it is a console centred game
the one thing i hope for if it does get ported is they put a lot of effort into making the port a really good port. i'm a console gamer but i always get really mad at devs who think they can just shaft our fellow gamers because they have a PC like seriously it's fucking bullshit.
hopefully it will but it has always been a more console centric franchise.
ChaosCloud96
i don't doubt that they considered it and decided it wasn't worth it at the time especially since i know a lot of people have both a PC and console
I LIVE
You are a god.
+
It's like watching Wasteland 2 and Fallout 4 without knowing what the hell happened with Fallout.
du0lol yupp, give me turned based, and throw that "live action" in the trash. The TRASH lol

It is the little things that make me like Final Fantasy, which 13 seriously lacked.
you beat it already? I'm only on chapter 3 and i got 16 hours on it.
kazuma same.
kazuma iam 30 hours in and just got to chapter 4,there so much to do.
people just rushed through things then whining how "short" it is.
if you just do story, it's only 25-30 hours long.
only, if you compare that to other FF that is alot longer
13 is great
If they had to choose between doing something more interesting with the Emperor and his cronies, and even a quarter of the little details that make up the open world bro-bonding, I am all for the choice to go with the latter bc even if the intricacies of the story fall flat the ultimate purpose of making the ending hurt like all hell in the face of how attached to this boyband you'd gotten was an absolute success. All the random dialogue, the spontaneous cool stuff everyone does during fights, tours, talks, cooking and photos and teasing and driving and camping and all the little pieces of animation showing them being people amidst all that makes me so goddamned happy
Seriously though, I swear the dev team kept getting told to wait on rewrite after rewrite of what the higher ups wanted out of the main storyline so in the meantime they just kept working on the open world segment, adding any and every detail they could think of until said higher ups just went 'fuck it, THATS the game!'
I'm slow player soo... 25h for you is gonna be 60h for me.
Vitor Simões Broetto
Same, and with the amount of content this game has, beegeezus this game might take a 100+ hours for me.
RandomChanceZ 17 hours in and I'm only at the start of Chapter 3
Just gonna go on record, I've never watched Kingsglaive, I didn't watch Brotherhood until I platinumed the game, and I have a crystal clear image of the story.
9:05 "feed a cat to get cat food"

I like how this game makes you use all the systems, and how drops back on all the fast traveling you normally find in open world games. It makes everything feel like a journey, even just turning in a sidequest across the map.
Also I just came across your channel and subbed straight away. I like your passionate and hilarious delivery, keep it up and I will keep coming back!
I think that you'll like Xenoblade Chronicles and Chronicles X
Sipke Evenhuis
Totally on the same page.
Thoughts?
Sipke Evenhuis cool axiom verge icon
MonsefMA Thanks
Sipke Evenhuis unfortunately she's doesn't like Nintendo so she will never play it.
GreySolidusSnake Wait, what? How? When did she say this?
Nice review!! (You appreciated it even before patches updates & add ons etc) BUUUT combat is MUCH more than just warp striking & timing attacks/dodges, its also about which teammate to work with & when, & utilizing magic & skills besides stuff like chain striking, armiger use etc etc..
Everyone I have something to say...
I didn't like FF7.
thank you for listening.
Anarch Ao you're such a rebel
"butter buns?" funny name. shit lady you're absolutely on point.
wtf..
"Woah, love the lighting" and "I've come up with a new recipe" has been permanently burned into my brain over these past two days
PERSONA 5
I've spent 600 hours with multiple playthroughs and I'm STILL coming back for more.
Athika Band Xenoblade Chronicles 2
both Persona 5 and Xeonoblade 2 are very good story games although the combat in Xenoblade doesn't really satisfy me
XV doesn't have the story because they told most of it in the anime and the movie and all the dlc the base game pretty much focuses on gameplay and open world exploration which it does really good
loving that there's someone else who listened to the ffXIII playlist in the car XD
As you said.. :(
Lets hope they dont make XV-2 and Noctis returns
LIONREV7 I would buy those games honestly
Rithrius I wish we could get story dlc for Regis and another for Luna.
well there is the side scrolling beat em up named A Kings Tale which is regis' journey with cor, cid and weskham and luna gets a lot of character development through flashbakcs, the trailers, kingsglaive and FF brotherhood episode 2 (though this focuses mostly on prompto it does actually give you some insight on luna as a child)
another thing is there will be 4 major DLC packages.
Episode Prompto
Episode Gladiolus
Episode Ignis
Multiplayer/Co-op
Lord Sin Is it? i just thought it was him since the in game picture of them looked like the guy was wearing Cor's outfit guess i was wrong XD
This game needs a prequel just for ardyn or a collectors book that explains everything.
lemme just give you a rundown of how the past few days have been.
Preordered the game.
got the game.
got home only to have the electric go out (since i live in the middle of no where)
wake up to go to work the next day and the electric is back.
go to work for a double shift.
get home.
put the game in.
Electric goes out again while game is installing.
wtf electric.
work again today.
hopefully i'll be able to play this game at some point.
I pre ordered it and got it day one, but I don't have a PS4 😂 kill me
Shade Uchiha God bless your heart
Shade Uchiha me too lmfaooo
Shade Uchiha that would be me if I had the money, also I dont have a 4k tv lol
ms alchemist I LOVE BARLEY SCRAPING BY FINANCIALLY BUT ALSO BEING A NERDY MATERIALISTIC GAMER! HAHAHAHAHAHA
You bought a game you don't have a system with which to play it? Nah, I won't kill you. Stupidity like that ensures that natural selection will run its course eventually.
Your For Beginners videos are absolutely brilliant, but I really enjoy these kinds of videos as well.
Seriously like how buns likes ff 13.. everyone seems to hate it while it was one of my favorite final fantasy's. ( personal opinion )
Thanks for not spoiling anything, Buns. I'm pleased with this overview.
Not sure how far I'm into the story since I've spent a fair bit of time fopping around doing side content, but I'm personally really enjoying the game a ton.
And I'm personally *really* interested to see what Ardyn's going to do at the end.
im about 35 hours in, and im still not close to done lol i am trying to platinum this baby asap
Buns, I don't comment much on RUclips vids, but gotta say: you deserve a legit web series or TV review segment.
The ending made me bawl my eyes out over and over. Also good god Yoko Shimomura is a goddess.
I watched Brotherhood and Kingsglaive, and all I could think when they referenced it was, "why didn't they just have this in the game somewhere?"
Anyways, i'm enjoying your channel so far, so thanks for this video.
As I have just given you the highlights of a long 5 years story the is more but that is to do with Final Fantasy versus XIII which covers the first 5 years
I would have liked to have this as a trilogy more than FF13. Can you imagine if the developments of the two games were switched?
That would've been awesome.....I want more of Final Fantasy XV although I do have problems with the story....it seems everyone has problems with it.
I will say this and not sure if Buns will see it, but I am 100% a fan of XV. I tried other Final Fantasy games like X/X-2 and Type 0 HD, but I feel like XV is 100% my official start into the Franchise
I got the Deluxe Edition that had both the game and the Kingsglaive movie, and later in a few years got another copy of the game.again, but this time, and finally, the Royal Edition where I obtain the expansion dungeons, comrades, and all 3 DLC episodes. Still working on getting Episode Ardyn
and replaying it again made me realize and respark how much I love XV.
The characters are great and the world of Eos was fun to explore. Noctis was my most favorite protagonist cause of his versatile abilities, and the fact he looks like Sasuke from Naruto XD
Joking aside, playing though up to ch.8 so far I enjoy the story and the additional content it has.
I hope others give this entry a chance one day as it was as a great journey with the crew from beginning to end
I am now in the process to play the DLC episodes soon
As someone who didn't watch any of the stuff SE put out before actually releasing 15, the story line wasn't... TOO confusing. Even if I didn't have some guy's backstory or know what happened before event XYZ, the game makes it pretty obvious what's going on. At least if you have half a brain. However, the story isn't really... good. And like, yeah, open world blah blah but I'm the one sitting here like "but mah stori!" I mean it got feelsy in the end but it was predictable and had very very VERY little surprises. (I still wanna know how Prompto was the dude thing all along.)
TheAeroTurtle but how are the characters?
It's like they tell you one thing about them then they NEVER TALK ABOUT IT AGAIN. They don't really go outside of their stereotypes. I like them for their interactions, but there just isn't much development besides like, small things that happened during the story line.
This was the first video I saw from this channel. And man, did I love it. Totally subscribed. You're very straight forward and have a simple way to say things, that's really good, and you don't find that often. Nice job! :)
I feel like square enix played a bunch of persona 4 golden
What gives you that impression?
dunno why but if that's the case im okay with it, i love P4G
What made you come to that conclusion?
I don't see any game mechanics in FFXV that could have been possibly influence by Persona 4.
IF you are talking about prompto being like yousuke , i am afraid that sort of character is quite common in Japanese games.
iwanfishz9 none of the members of that trope is as good as the brosuke
Oh wow uhh, im level 50 and im only on chapter 8. Lmao
BlindedFlash same lol
BlindedFlash same xD
BlindedFlash Level 42 Chapter 3 xD Doing a ton of hunts
Lvl22 chapter 2.
Man I love this game
You are my new favorite channel, LOVE what you do!! And I agree with you on all fronts here. I loved Kingsglave and Brotherhood, but I wish the pretty gol durned info they imparted was actually included in the game itself. It would have been cool to still have them as separate entities to just further flesh out the world/story, but the lore/backstories would have really improved the game itself methinks....
final fantasy games are made to be enjoy don't rush it.
Eugenio Dublan the overall deadline was approaching and they couldn’t finish everything in time. Thank god they’re adding dlc to complete it.
I just wanted to say, having finished the game myself, I really feel like you summed up the game perfectly and I am glad I randomly found your video. Thanks for your funny and AWESOME contribution! :D
noct: man its hot gladio: then lose the jacket. that is all I ever heard from noct and gladio. that's it
Do they say that after changing his outfit...?
Nah. After changing his outfit to something without a jacket he starts complaining about it being cold.
^
big b Nono
Another Headache.
That's not normal!
I lost the jacket, but Noct would still complain about the heat, and Gladio would tell him to lose the shirt.
Keep it up! I'm dying for the beginners guide of this one!
the open world experience is so fucking awesome, the main story is so fucking bad
-This game in a nutshell
Still, everyone who play jrpg tend to look forward to the story, sooo many people will be dissapointed hahahaha
enjoy the game guys!
also hilarious how the first director of the game was so confident in his story that he literally wanted to make it a musical. Good thing he was replaced
Wait what? The story currently is shit because he was moved, it does not suit his vision of the story since he wanted to make it a trilogy
Yeah sorry, just read more about it. I didn't know it had changed that much. Wow it seriously is a mess. The scope of the game changed so drastically from versus XIII to XV that the original story just couldnt fit in well at all.
except that I find that story is pretty solid; simple yes, but effective especially because of the main characters and the villain
Must sub. :)
i love 13
That option to go back to the entrance of a cave was such a plus and a welcome life saver at times. I was never in danger of dying, but going back the long way seemed like such a headache. I am loving this game and I will never regret picking up my copy.
if you beat the game in less than 40 hours, you missed out on alot.
TheDreamMachine0089 like what
TheDreamMachine0089 she can go back so i don't see the problem.
boi whole bunch of character unique side quests, some cool hunts, there's even Cutscenes that appear randomly after side questing that deepen the characters
but even after beating it you can still do what you've missed tho .-.
Yeah honestly I would say its beneficial to run through the story in 25-30 hours
All the best content happens after the game
Never played a JRPG before. Maybe I'll pick this one up after watching Kingsglaive 🤔
Killer Klown
And probably the Brotherhood anime. I haven't watched either, and though Buns makes it out like you'll be lost the whole story without it (No offense), there were a few parts that I got confused on, but slowly understood it. Be cautious, I say.
Xander The Grand
Watch Brotherhood and also get yourself used to playing open world JRPGs by playing Xenoblade. ;)
Just play Xenoblade. Aside from the awful "collect these things with a 3% drop rate" it's a much better experience than this game.
chickmcjr I disagree. While Xenoblade has a far better story and characters, FFXV trumps it though it's vast open world, action, and combat system.
chickmcjr weirdly enough I just finished it one day before this came out. it was a great game don't get me wrong but this game, so far, is trumping xenoblade
The only thing annoying is when your friends are running behind you with a chocobo. they just get launched back 16:33
once at a GameStop I tried to get 13 and the guy straight up told me 13 was garbage so I never got it
Main gripe is being stuck playing as one character, would have loved switching too the others even if they played differentially and hearing that we will be able to play as them in dlc only is frustrating. Its like they are saying yeah we worked out how to you can play as the others but $60 aint enough for that privilege we need more money before you do that. Dont know what the problem is controlling multiple characters in an rpg these days.
No comment on the music?
Alissa MewMew yes, music is pretty fantastic
it REAL good
SuperButterBuns Buns...I love your channel.
You get to listen to old FF music too xD
It's final fantasy. Do you have to ask? It's pretty obvious.
Then you should play Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles X. It does everything better than XV aside from the battle system
I didn't watch Kingsglaive or Brotherhood but I still really liked the story. I play games for the story mostly and despite the fact it was short I still really liked it. I do wish it was a bit longer but it was still good, at least in my opinion, though parts were executed poorly.
I am highly thinking about buying this but that price tag $65😳
$99 at our version of gamestop in australia lmao
260 in malaysia.....
I know its a steep price, but it is worth it. You get so much for your buck. If you don't go through the story in one fell swoop you get so much open world and other fun stuff to do.
kirara2516 , I bit the bullet and bought the game full price 😄😄😄 and am not regretting it at all games sooo aditve
Sam Yelts lol, same here. I've been glued to my PS4 ever since I got it. xD i'm glad you're enjoying it as much as I am. ^^
I enjoyed XIII a lot and it's one of my favorites. FIGHT ME.
25 hours? Final Fantasy VII took me about 20 hours to beat, so that sounds about right.
How did you only spend 20 hours on your first playthrough of FFVII? Unless you didn't explore or do any of the sidequests, because most people average about 40 on that game even without sidequests.
joshp011
I did some side stuff, but I still ended up reaching the final area at around level 60 - 70. I didn't really grind much.
joshp011 my first playthrough of ffvii was 30-35 hours with side content and i was very overlevelled for safer sephiroth
Thats absolutely impossible. Even if you pressed all the dialogs without reading them only cut-scenes (i mean with dialog in it) is 14 hours long. You re telling us that you did all the fights and traveling of the entire world in 6 hours? Why someone has to lie to give credit to something? Don't you understand that this has the exact opposite effect?
leon voulgaris
Lie?
These reviews are so honest and fun 10/10 subscribed
SPOILERS
I think adding Tabata was a mistake.
Never meant to say you did, I just feel like It's occurring often in games like this.
LMAO
But seriously. Hamlet is only famous in the classrooms because it's meaning is very vague(English teacher are impressed by these things..), not that it's the best writing by Shakespeare, I prefer the Midsummer and Twelve Night, Merchant of Venice more.
Should've focused more on the Anime heroic style, it would've been a hit!
glad you did put the disclaimer because this is the first video I've seen by you
Please tell me Iris is legal.
She is in Japan.
Jo Al I don't like the sound of that.
I was hoping to avoid the jail-baity character trope, she seems like a secondary character, so we can let it slide i guess. . .
I'm joking. They all look 18+ honestly.
AceDreamer iris is 16
Kingdom Hearts III used to be my fav JRPG but FF7Remake and FFXV's combat is better to me.
OK so the story sucks but the UCE was worth it ....but fuck I wanted a story
Zsurvivalist abyssary story isn't bad but not great. I just love the gameplay and world. Very interesting
Zsurvivalist abyssary the story doesn't suck. it's a simple story but it has good characters, lore, and main story.
Shawn Zamir FFXV The problem is the lore, though. It feels very noticeably vague in places, especially for people who have been waiting for this game to come out and have been keeping up with the development.
Thewhitequeen0 I agree !! Very vague & not very personal
