Trey Atkins I don’t know if you finished it, but even further into the game there are some really dark cutscenes and events that take place, specifically after the casino palace and during the final “palace” of the base game

Get to know Takemi.
Eventually you can buy a unique accessory that regenerates 7 sp (or was it mana?) per round. Super useful for long palace treks, and it´s only 50 000 jpy.

MrShinyArceus It depends, by the time u get her, her element is usefull in the dungeon. And yeah, the same Way Ryuji and Ann Góes more and more to the background, her, Crow and Queen gets pushed to the frontlines. And her Confident development is Nice enough. Not as good as Futaba's and Yusuke, but kind of....you better see it' yourself. She is probably the nicest character in the party, and The Second most Fun after Futaba XD

Omg, the palaces are SO much more fun than the randomised dungeons. They make the process of levelling up your characters much less of a grind and give you more options in how you play (sneaking past enemies to save SP vs fighting everything to gain experience). I'm also very happy that the social links with side characters can also give you abilities and increase stats, so it's less of a struggle to decide whether you should hang out with Person X or try to gain more charm points because sometimes you can accomplish both at once.
My favorite part is hearing my 5 year old singing, "You'll never see it comingggggg!" At random moments throughout the day lol

"Best Mascot Character ever." Well I have to correct myself here after I watched the Anime "Made in Abyss" . When it comes to awesome Mascot Characters Morgana got kicked of the throne pretty hard by a certain fluffy bunny. He really does not compare.

My first clear playtime was 150 hrs. Pretty sure 50 of those where when I fell asleep with the game on and didn't remember if I saved or not when i woke up. Yusuke is totes best bud/wifey material but I gotta say, Haru was a surprise when I saw All out attack win screen animation. Made me fall in love with her.

Any other game I'd say sure, but if you scratched more than an inch into the persona campaign's iceberg(metaphorical, not the meme icebergs that I'm sure there's tons of videos on) 150 hours sounds short lol

I played in normal mode and the only boss that kicked my ass was the 2nd one. Those paintings were so annoying. Rip me I guess I'm just trash at the game. Lol

The thing is, I actually preferred the "first person" narrative, for example like you said: "i ate a burger and i feel that i have more GUTS". It just feels silly when Morgana has to explain every little thing to you and it kinda breaks the immersion.

I am currently 100 hours in my play-through of P5R and I can say that Joker is my best boy (followed by Yusuke/Akechi) and Futaba is my best girl! Her backstory almost made me cry like a baby and she is just so precious & adorable!

@@LupineShadowOmega more story moments would’ve definitely been nice, but I still can’t say that characters like Ann were underdeveloped (the confidants are the remainders of their arcs). Also, have you played Strikers? It provides a ton of good content for the most underutilized characters

I've never played a persona game in my life until persona 5 dont even like games where u have to wait your turn to attack what additionally caught my eye was the steelbook i tried it out and i absolutely love it if your skeptical about buying this game take my word for it and try it out
Actually, I saw it was on sale one day on the PlayStation Store (for $47) and I was already kinda curious so I bought it, got most of the way through the first palace and didn't touch it again for a couple of months until a few days ago and I've been playing it almost nonstop since. In three days, my invested hours went from about 12 or 15 to about 40 or so, the same amount of time it took me to beat Tales of Berseria (which I described as pretty long to an online friend who really seems to like first-person shooters and sports games).
This is my second Persona. I played the first game years ago on Ps1.
"Japanese Sly Cooper" :D I did get a Sly vibe from this game. My mom even said today as I was playing it that it reminded her of Sly Cooper a little bit. :)
Just beat this game 2 days ago, clocking in at 99 hours and while I miss my time with the phantom thieves, I'm happy to have my life back.

As a person for who Persona 5 was my first SMT style game it couldn't have been a better introduction to the genre. Now granted I played the first 4 palaces on Easy mode, cause y'know new thing, but it felt like such a rewarding game to jump back into every weekend when I got back on console. Very, very good story telling, other than that one sequence before the 5th Palace (You all know what I'm talking about).
Now I did watch a good few hours of an lp before jumping in (Just until the 3rd Palace watching) and I am super glad I jumped into this series now. The thing that kept me away from SMT style games was how slow and heavily boring the combat always looked but between the art style, the phenomenal music and very mature nature in handling how a group of teens would handle super natural powers with genuine moral questioning was so unique to me.
Also I'm studying Jung a bit so this game handling the idea of the 'persona' and demon I was like a child in a candy store visiting the concept of the Palaces.
Also just to flame the waifu wars further Makoto is best girl, if Futaba was, not 15, it would be more difficult to decide. Ann was too cardboard outside of her confidant. She blended into the background with Yusuke Morgana and Ryuji after the bug boys Palace. Makoto had so much more development and interaction all through the game right to the end. (Also let's just face it, Ann and Ryuji were totally getting it on behind Jokers back.) Moral of the story; P5 very welcoming game to newcomers in every possible way, and Makoto best girl and waifu for laifu.

Price (Bank of Gluttony) is easy one of the best OST ever made! I could hear that for hours.

But seriously, I had a really hard time picking a best girl in this game. I loved Ann from day 1, but then Makoto came along and punched me right in the feels, then once I thought I had all that figured out, Futaba hacked her way into my heart, like the fuck (Haru was there too I guess). Honestly I like seeing Futaba, Sojiro, and the Protag as the wholesome glasses adoptive family, so I went for that. As for romance... I didn't date anyone cuz I was still salty about Yusuke (just look at that beautiful man)

Mecha_Gaeb Is Haru a good character in the game? The Phantom Thieves team has a special chemistry that keeps getting better and better with each new member. Does Haru fit perfectly in with the team dynamic? I just got Futaba on the team.
I think it's moreso the fact that she comes in relatively late in the game so you don't have as much time to get comfortable with her in the group, it's kind of like the Naoto situation except with Naoto you got to see her when you first got Kanji. As far as her character goes, I like her, she just comes in a little late.

I just finished this game for the first time, first game in the series. I played on normal. I found the difficulty curve to be fantastic, as whenever I died, it's because I was careless (or an unexpected attack from a boss) but I never found myself stuck or overwhelmed. It was easy to learn and pick up for sure, and it never felt too punishing.
This is my first Persona game and I fucking loved it! This video is actually what convinced me to pick it up and I'm so, so happy I did. When a game gets you to cry because the characters and the journey was so good that you're happy it's over but sad to see these guys quest end, you know that's a damn good game! I love this game so much!!! Also, Ann is best girl.

16:17 the term for this type of story development is actually called "en media res" which is Latin for in the middle of things. It's when the story throws you in the middle and you are filled into what is happening through dialogue or in this case, a ton of flashbacks. (I started playing P5 when learning the Odyseyy and I got so happy when I realized that)

God! I've been spoiled for what I can only guess is a lot, but this takes the cake. Gosh. I don't think I will ever look at the game the same now. (In all honesty though, I am a bit mad. I feel like this is the video Atlas used when deciding what to change in persona 5 royal. Baton pass is available immediately, ammo is refilled between fights (and makes a lot of sense with the cognition theme) and the camera is movable fully during stealth
Being able to use the dpad to cycle from hiding spot to hiding spot was an absolute godsend
I'm here to say that I'm 50 hours into the game and it's amazing! PS: ButterBuns I love your voice!
I'm like 10 hours and about to finish Kamoshida's castle. The first 2-3 hours went by slow, but now I just keep binging the game and I can't stop unless I am forced to by family, school work, and basic necessities.
(Also, I know this is 5 years later. I was late on the game, really late. I just found out what the game was a month ago.)

I tried to help a RUclipsr understand how the system works, but they didn't seem to fully understand. No idea how to explain it any better and it's their first jrpg Persona game, since they did play P4:Arena or Arena Untimax, I can never remember which. I've played many Japanese games over the years but not turn based RPGs, but after seeing the style this game has and hearing it's perfect for newcomers I've given it a go I'm a few hours in just got Arsene Persona, hope I don't get overwhelmed later but so far so :) I'm a massive fan of storytelling and games with interesting characters

I started the game not too long ago and I already have 40+ hours (it's ruining my life but that's ok). It's my first Persona and holy shit is it fantastic! I love the character designs, and sass choices. The art makes me drown in a puddle of tears for how lovely it looks! I'm glad I found your beginner video or I probably would have missed out on playing the game. Also *cough* Tae is best *cough*.
makoto is best girl, I'm currently going for my second playthrough now and hearing rivers while fighting the twins is soo satisfying.
i am 60 hours in the game and I'm surprised that the story is still not deep and that I'm still far from finding every party member. This is the game from the dreams of any jrpg fan.
194 hours in. NG+ from bad ending so I could start game with max social stats and make more than 3 maxed and 5 half full confidant relationships. Now on 3rd palace. Dream of a jrpg fan, though beginning railroading gets worse the second time

I'm actually happier that events that take you away for a week are not in this game since I ended up having way more time for my social links. Persona 3 skipped all of summer vacation just so you can train so that you can beat mamoru in kendo or swimming. That still makes me mad.

I flipped shit when you addressed the major problem that kept me from completing Persona 4 in the first place... THE FUCKING BATTLE THEME. Persona 5 beefed up SO MUCH from the previous two games that the first few seconds baffled me, especially since I’m half-beginner and half-not. I used to watch my sister play the games so I know how things work, but NOPE in P5 we do things SLICKER and more STYLISH!
Random tip: Put the dialogue in autoscroll. It feels closer to the slick fast paced feel of the game, perhaps closer to animated cutscenes too. You can always hit square if you need to pause the thing or if your brain lagged midway and need some recap.

I've been listening to "Life Will Change" so much after beating the game I can hear the lyrics in my head.
As for Persona 5 it's definitely my game of the year. I give it a 9.75/10.
One the note of the hangouts/school trips, I was disappointed by them as well, but i feel like it fit the with game narrative very well. No matter where you go, you are a group of outcasts and it made the end of the game feel so much better IMO.
