      Thanks for the video. I have a request: Could you make a somewhat longer (slower paced) video about the Numbers in Gen 1:1? Maybe with a few more number 'coincidences' and a better, but still quick, explanation of the 1 to 9 number grid? And also name it something more generic, without a reference to the BOOK, since this site censers the title of the video. I have to say something like "see the vid called Amazing number patterns in the B. It was made by Redeemed."
      And please don't use Comic Sans. 😅

    38:49 God is indisputably a monarch. Democracies run the risk of decrying God as a tyrant because he won't let the people do what they want. On the other hand, human monarchs have a habit of trying to usurp God's throne, and the idea that Christians should exercise servant leadership lends itself to democracy in Earthly affairs. Further original sin guarantees that all earthly leaders will be sinful, and democracy puts many sinful leaders in competition with each other rather than allowing one sinful leader to have his way.

    Hi, I'm the person that wrote the "Should priests be able to get married?" question. I'm catholic because of both geographical reasons and because I find our theology to make the most sense to me.
    I askd my teacher that same question a long time ago and his answer was that the priest needs to focus on the church and not family and that his kids can be richer than other kids because their pearents give money to the church because priest's family would live of other people's money so that wouldn't be fair in some sense. You said in the video that if a priest can't manage a family, he can't manage a church, that makes sense but if he has to manage both, both are getting less time than they should.

    • @Fox35797
      @Fox35797 6 месяцев назад +1

      He's referring to 1 Timothy 3:1-13 where Paul gives the requirements for elders and deacons, saying both must be faithful to their wives and have respectful children, verse 5 specifically saying: "(If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?)" Popes/priests aren't named or mentioned in the New Testament, so I'm assuming denominations with that kind of leadership would base the requirements off of elders and deacons (let me know if I'm wrong though).

Surely Zoomer is educated enough that he should be able to avoid such elementary criticisms. The Westminster Dictionary of Christian Theology defines semi-pelagianism as the idea that "the first movement towards God is made by human efforts unaided by grace." Which is rejected by molinists, arminians, and provisionists.

    Hi! As a presbyterian, I would have to disagree with your stance about CCM. While I agree hymns and choral praise is amazing in its own right, the purpose of CCM and the reason it is written in the way it is (like with one voice as you mentioned) is for the congregation to praise.
    As a member of my own church's team, we learn repeatedly that when we lead praise, we are not the focal point.
    God is.
    CCM is written in a very simplistic (almost boring in a sense) style so that the congregation can sing as a united voice together towards God. The priority is on the lyrics and not the "music" behind it. The music is supplemental, if we put too much focus on the music, we end up worship the music and not God. (of course, we should make good music, I'm not saying we shouldn't) When I start listening (or preparing songs to lead the congregation), I'm less concerned about the music itself, but the message and lyrics.
    This is not to discredit choral music, though. I think it is beautiful in its own right and should be celebrate (having been in a church choir myself).
    One key thing I would like add is that praise isn't even always singing. As a matter of fact, I think it's a common misconception to equate singing and praise. Praising God can be through our actions, our prayers, our thoughts, etc.
    Remember, God looks at the heart and not the outward experience, so to judge a certain genre of music to be "bad" for the sake of calling it bad is a gross misinterpretation of the beauty of praise itself.
    That being said (if you read this far), I love your videos and I learned a lot from your channel. I always look forward to your uploads :D

    • @thederpyunicorn306
      @thederpyunicorn306 7 месяцев назад +3

      Well said. I've never understood the position of those who think CCM is inherently bad. Church choir music is also pretty simple and formulaic and really not that different from praise band songs in that respect. Zoomer always says that CCM is "just bad" and hardly gives a concrete reason why.

    • @Tim_Hwang
      @Tim_Hwang 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@thederpyunicorn306 the main difference and reason he said in the video was that choral music would be “closer” to the praise that was talked about in the book of Revelation. That there are multiple voices praising at once, and then he claimed that CCM is bad cause it’s usually just one voice, but like I said, the reason it’s one voice is:
      1. Because it is easy to follow along so the whole congregation can praise together (so his point about one voice is more of a strawman than anything)
      2. So the lyrics are clear. Again, the lyrics are inherently more important than the music itself because it actually holds the meaning, WHO and WHY we’re praising.

    • @LeoRegum
      @LeoRegum 7 месяцев назад +1

      CCM is just bad though, on the whole. It has the most predictable clichés, musical and lyrical, and the words are generally ill-thought out and technically poor attempts at poetry, strings of barely-integrated rehashed nice ideas in place of evocative coherent imagery. It neednt be so but we're living in the shallowest of days and CCM for whatever reasons can't escape that.
      OTOH, what do you do if your liturgy suggests a sung version of a particular Psalm? Do you have a version on hand with a known tune? Probably not, because CCM songs are not interchangeable. In a hymnal, you would typically have two or three options for each Psalm or hymn so your congregation can probably sing 80% off the hymns without knowing them beforehand. This means you can integrate your hymns with the readings and preaching to create an orderly service.
      There is also a much more mature breadth of focus in traditional hymnody which includes the whole Christian experience like struggles, doubts, trials of many kinds, hymns for liturgical seasons, and doctrinal hymns, none of which I have seen in any great measure at CCM-only churches, including two Anglican ones surprisingly.
      In other words, CCM is more than merely song style, it practically dictates other aspects of divine worship by blocking off options.
      Obviously CCM can be done more reverently and adult than its worst examples but it does lend itself to excessive emotionalism and shallowness in a way which traditional Church music can't rival. Some would regard that as a positive as it is an outpouring of pure (mindless) praise. I never could bring myself to be convinced.

    • @Tim_Hwang
      @Tim_Hwang 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@LeoRegum i agree with some of your points, however, i think you’re downplaying too heavily on many of the songs’ lyrical work.
      Personally, my team is very adamant about analyzing the lyrics of every song we choose (whether it be hymns or CCM). Many CCM songwriters are very attentive to biblical references (to the psalms or otherwise) and is able to convey an important message well to the congregation as well as be part of our worship to God. We also exclude songs with shallow lyrics or lyrics that are close to being heretical. People seem to always downplay the lyrical thought put into these songs.
      I don’t think CCM should be the only worship in Churches. My church also uses many hymns and both are useful. Reiterating what i said in my comment, God is much less concerned about what we use to worship than the heart behind it.
      Which brings us to your next point about emotion. I personally have a bit of the same gripe as you about this (because it’s easy to get emotional because of the music and not the lyrics), but this could also be said about hymns at times. Personally, I think at the end of the day, God can let us get emotional to feel His presence (but it shouldn’t be the reason for the singing)

    21:40-22:50 This was excellent man. I’ve had more than a few debates about this with my Orthodox coworker. He is in favor of total Christian pacifism, and as a Protestant Christian myself I agree with a lot of his points, but sometimes we just have no choice, and due to our flawed nature we do indeed have people who’s job it is to restrain and punish the evil that humans do to each other and onto our most important institutions. Why would God condemn someone whose job it was to employ controlled violence to protect fellow citizens or fight for the protection of the places they live in?
    I always had a hard time giving a purely Christian answer about this but your commentary helped out a lot.

    47:40 it's also helpful to note that baptising "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" wasn't intended to create a baptism "formula", in the sense that when you are baptised those words must be spoken. If you receive the Christian baptism, you were baptised "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit," not the other way around.
    This helps to explain the verse in Acts where the apostles only baptised in the name of Christ -- the apostles didn't baptise anyone wrongly, because the Great Commission wasn't creating a formula for baptism.
    We only see the development of the baptism formula later in the early Church as the different Christological heresies began sprouting. The true Church began saying "you are baptised in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" to establish that the baptised person was indeed receiving the true Christian baptism. Before the Christological heresies, the baptism formula wasn't used because the Great Commission wasn't establishing it.
    This clears up the tension between the two passages pretty neatly. With Mormonism etc. around the place, it's still helpful for us to use the baptism formula to clarify that we baptise in the Triune name of God. In the New Testament, before heresies came around, the baptism formula was therefore not needed.

    James 2
    My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. 2 For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, 3 and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” 4 have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? 5 Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? 6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court? 7 Are they not the ones who blaspheme the honorable name by which you were called?
    Mark 12
    38 And in his teaching he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes and like greetings in the marketplaces 39 and have the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts, 40 who devour widows' houses and for a pretense make long prayers. Peter refers to himself as a "fellow elder" (1 Peter 5:1), so not only are Peter and Paul apostles they are also elders. Paul was not married (1 Corinthians 7:7) and neither was Jesus. But, you are correct that priests should be allowed to be married just as Peter (whom Roman Catholics believe to be the first Pope) was married for Jesus healed his mother-in-law (Matthew 8:14-15:).

    16:40 Hymns have been set with multiple voices, but I'll bet that more than you realize were composed to be sung in unison, simply because most people are not trained singers, so anything that is to be sung congregationally has to sound good if only the melody is sung and if the singers aren't highly skilled. My problem with CCM is that it tends to do good at demonstrating the skills of the band, but not to actually be great for singing by average joes despite being the main form of congregational singing in evangelical churches. Also, my best singing voice is fairly low, but CCM always seems to be dragging me up into a higher register.
    The point being, hymns owe their success as much to sounding good in a rural parish church as they do to sounding good in a high kirk.

    • @JonBrase
      @JonBrase 7 месяцев назад

      17:16 Even though I prefer hymns to CCM, I think this is a dumb take. Scripture contains zero mp3's of angelic choirs to serve as a normative reverence point for what worship should sound like, our idea of what an angelic choir sounds like is still conditioned by what we think sounds good. Beware lest God appoint the angels who announced the birth of Christ to perform a Hillsong-inspired encore performance specifically for you on judgement day to teach you humility.
      18:23 The tune is *called* "Lasst uns erfreuen" (Let us Rejoice), not written by someone with that name. It's pronounced "Lahst oonce airfroyen" (I can write it out in IPA if you can read that).
