This old lady thinks that Mini is a sweet ride! I'd love to go for a spin. The mountain where I live has the perfect road for it, very twisty and thrilling on a good day but deadly on a bad day. I stay home when the weather's bad. Our hwy is a favorite for motorcycle clubs as it's challenging and also very scenic. Some of my neighbors hate the bikers, but in the 16 years I've lived here, I've found them to be some of the most respectful drivers on that scary road. They don't want to die, just have some fun!
Thanks for sharing the seat belt color change mod! Lamborghini wanted $1,700 for seat belt replacement in orange (actually retractor with orange belts) so obviously $75 at Safety Restore is a no brainer.

I saw a show years ago where researchers were doing crash testing for baby seats so they obtained a few dozen seat belts from an auto wrecker. What surprised them was many of the seat belts were snapping during the crash test. I recall most the belts they were using were over 15 years old. I have a 36 year old classic and I will definitely be replacing the belts just for safety sake.

It's easy to get in the car, but not out, unfortunately. He destroyed all the seat belts, and the passenger seat. The only thing he didn't destroy was the driver seat and back bench seat, but he destroyed the back seat belts too. I considered taking the old seat belts out of my '97 non-op Ranger, but decided using 26 year old seat belts aren't the safest option, and extra work, so I nixed that. I'm now trying to decide whether to go this route, or to put in a 4-point harness, at least for the driver side. I live on a mountain with a very precarious road where having rollovers that go over the side of a cliff are not uncommon, so a 4-point harness would not be overkill. I also don't care how it looks as my 18 year old Hyundai is just vital transportation since I live off-grid on a mountain, a mile from the nearest neighbor. Our mountain hwy has been used to film commercials for sports cars and motorcycles due to it's torturous, serpentine curves and beautiful SoCal scenery. and is rather famous for being used in the first part of the movie, "It's a Mad Mad... Mad World" in the 60s. The car used in the scene where Jimmy Durante drove off a cliff before he "kicked the bucket" stayed there for years before souvenir hunters and wildfires removed it. Don't know what happened to the bucket! 😉 I'm a 60 year old hermit who has to fix things myself, so I'd like to hear opinions from others who have experience with either or both kinds of belts.
Milan. Do you have to send the old hardware (bolts/washers) when you send in the seat belts? Or do you keep them for the new belts that come in? Like do they send you new bolts with belts?
Hey Michael, all you send them is the belt and ratcheting mechanism attached to the belt. The bolts you removed to take the belts out, you keep as you'll need them for when they send the new belts back to you.
@@milanmastracci I noticed their website says do NOT send the bolts as they won't be responsible if they get lost. I got lucky, my trim was so easy to remove I did it with my hands. MUCH easier than when I replaced the headliner of the 1977 Oldsmobile I inherited from my dad. After having to buy clip removal tools to remove the ceiling of the car to replace the headliner fabric, I decided to re-do it with something more fun. I used lightweight upholstery velvet in leopard print and attached it with industrial strength spray adhesive. I replaced the dome light with a tiny crystal chandelier I made myself, "pimping" my ride. I think it turned out great, but I got pulled over by cops a LOT after that. I don't know why. Maybe they don't like artistic folks. It's too hot to keep working right now, so I'll remove the belt apparatus later. I found that Safety Restore sells on eBay a little cheaper than their website, with free shipping. Glad I'll be able to replace both front belts for @ $200. I'm going with purple since it's my favorite color! 💜

When you disconnect pretensioner do you need to remove battery or something does it have some faults on cluster when you connect it again
It is advised you do disconnect the battery, however I've done it multiple times with no problems.
