But he still thinks iguanas and savannah monitors and mangrove snakes and nile monitors are the greatest reptiles there are, just not good pets. As Clint says it, tigers are amazing, but they just don't make halfway decent pets
Basically how to be sure of what gecko to care for. I realized a while back that I made a huge mistake when getting a tokay gecko to babysit. I almost had to get stitches cuz of one crazy tokay, and they’re insane. Plus the tokay is so loud as well.
After Clint introduced me to Leachies in this video, I did a bunch of research and finally bought one. So excited! Thanks Clint, for your unbridled enthusiasm with reptiles, and all of these interesting videos!
i have 2 leachies and agreed w you on almost every catagory😂 i can’t even open the enclosure to my adult females enclosure without her snapping her head and grunting/lunging. she’s like that once she’s out of the enclosure too. my subadult male is a charm with handling. not flighty, not nervous, not bitey, just perfect with interaction.
I picture the leachie as being every person's childhood sock puppet coming to life and is now more appropriate for an adult to have 😂😂😂 they really are adorable flop beasts. They have personality but i feel like 2/3s of the time their just kind of existing.
I love Leachies. They look like they are wearing oversized footie pajamas. Awesome vid as always. Any chance of doing a Brazilian Rainbow Boa vid in the future? They're pretty popular due to how gorgeous they are but I know they have some more difficult requirements then say, a ball python (humidity mainly). Would love to get your take on them. Keep up the amazing work!
Is love a Uromastyx episode. I've had mine for 8 years and he's just the most wonderful pet. Potty trained, smart, mostly vegitarian, unlikely to bite, good with kids, can't drop their tail
I was curious to see what a leachie sounds like when it's angry. It sounds like a geiger counter going off, it's both amusing and scary at the same time. I do enjoy looking at leachie geckos they are quite adorable
Just got my first leachie last weekend and I’m so in love! “She” Handles being handled pretty well in my opinion for only being a little over a month old. And I’m Hoping that means that she will handle well in the future
I'm so torn between this and a crested gecko. To me this is the perfect size to be satisfying to handle without being too much. Though the handle-ability score makes me nervous. That's an expensive game of roulette but the thought of getting one of those 5 out of 5 handling geckos is enticing.
I would love to have this guy as a teacher for science class or an elective about reptiles. Good and direct explanations that really keep you hooked. I love his personality too lol
I found my way to a leachie after watching you and a couple other youtubers. Her name is Laylo...its a whole background story that's tldr. Anyways, 6 months ago a friend knew I liked mantids so he found one injured on a job site and brought it to me. So, in my usual fashion, I went all out trying to make him comfortable. He ate a meal but died a short time later. It was a male and a bit beat up from his travels but I was glad I could offer a last meal and a comfortable place to rest his weary exo. Long story short, I now have 3 mantids, a pacman, and a leachie...o, and still my dog. I never do anything half assed. 100% of the time I use the whole ass. Cheers to Clint and friends for helping me with my dive-in head first yolo decision sponsored by Redbull and KFC. You guys rock.
I got two of these guys. I love them so much. Grumbles is pretty friendly though she complains a lot. The only end you have to watch out for is the back end. 😅
Wrinkle potatoes. They're not my personal favorite as I haven't met a handle able one. Also extremely expensive here costing in the thousands easily. But I appreciate them and their cuteness.
My local reptile shop has a pair of Grand Terra breeders. They are lucky to get even 1-2 eggs in a clutch. Currently, they have 2 Grand Terras, and 2 Isle of Pines for sale. When I bought my Isle of pines 1.5 years ago, he was $450. They are now $750, so Clint is very right about price.
Oh hi!! Hahaha I told you it was a great intro line! Makes me smile every time. Another great video, and thank you for starting with info about their plucky little attitudes! It's definitely the #1 thing people should be aware about when considering a leachie.
I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but usually the ones that's are being cage aggressive, turn into puppies outside of the cage. Usually you just take out the whole piece that they are already sitting on, and they'll be fine.
I know you mentioned it's on your list but I just wanted to say I would love to see a video about how to create a vivarium and what kinds of reptile species play nice with live plants. Bump it up on the to do list. :)
You know I have been considering getting one of these adorable little guys but was unsure. After watching this video I have decided that this is one of the reptiles for me, thanks for helping me decide on one of the many available reptiles on the market :)
Follow up, I found a leachie in a local reptile store. She is in very good shape and health, we bought the cage and the store manager has allowed us to make weekly payments over the span of 8 weeks. She is not cage aggressive at all and she hasn’t bitten any of the workers yet. I can expect having her by December 7th :)
Tokay Geckos in the Philippines are called Tuko because of their vocalization. They are often thought of as bad luck in your home. I love hearing them in the bamboo at night
This is a great channel. You've got a new fan! I have ideas to throw at you, too. 1. What about a video on food? Keeping live bugs of different types, any differences in CGD brands (my crestie is a Pangea watermelon junkie), storing and preparing rodents, etc. Thinking "oh, it eats bugs" doesn't prepare everyone for the reality of "now I have a box of crickets I have to keep alive?" Also, not all feeders are available everywhere - dubias can't be imported in Florida, for example. 2. More lizards please! Always more lizards. I'd love an anole episode. 3. Ditto geckos. 4. More goofy gecko noises. 5. Keep it up, you're doing great. 🦎
I’ve been wanting to get a Leachie for about 15 years. I live in Ohio and saw Robbie Hamper- who literally wrote the books and cresties and Leos- with her Leachies. I saw them at Tinley Park when I went as well and took care of my brother’s Leachies when he was between apartments a couple years ago. But I knew I’d never try to breed them and just wanted pets. I definitely wanted to pick out my Leachie in person as the only things that mattered were that the leachie was healthy and could be handled. I initially was looking at a different gecko when I got my nuu ami, but the gecko I ended up buying actually climbed from the display case onto my hand. I decided to take the one that seemed to like me. Another vendor that I’ve previously gotten cresties, gargoyles and chewies from had a Bayonnaise for sale and took a couple hundred off the asking price because I’d bought geckos from them in the past. Both of my Leachie are nice. The nuu ami gets a 5/5 for handleability, but the Bayonnaise gets a 3.7/ out of 5 because she doesn’t sit still and likes to climb to my back and hang off my back.
Just found your channel last night. You are so cool and seem extremely nice. I wish I could be your friend! lol Anyways great channel! Keep up with the amazing content.
Could you please do a video on the Green ameiva, I’d love to know what someone else thinks of them. I think the males look especially cool when juveniles. And with regular handling they become really comfortable with being held. Also I don’t think care is really much of a chore, it’s almost like the rainbow whiptail.
I just ran across a video on RUclips about this gecko, asked what kind, then found you. Your video was very informative. Of course I subscribed to your channel. One question about how much do they cost?
Hi Clint! I just love all your videos and my little girls do too! I have learned so much! I live on the gold coast Australia. I have gotten my first reptile and it was a rescue pink tongue skink. I am unsure of the sex but do not want to stress her by getting her probed or anything like that. There is such little information on pink tongues out there. DO you know much about them? Reptile enthusiast or not, how could anyone not love Clint? What an awesome guy.
Absolutly
If you were my professor, I would rather be in your class than relaxing at home. That's how amazing you are!

one thing to be cautious about with leachies is that their feet can easily get infections if they are wet so be careful with misting their enclosure
