I think crested geckos are amazing and beautiful animals. I think it is crazy that they survived around 20 years on an island they weren't supposed to be on. Also I love your channel and feel like I learn something new every time I watch a video. Keep up the great content!
I have a crestie. And I think two of the most frustrating thing I’ve encountered are that everyone keeps saying how easy they are to feed. My gecko must be the most pickiest crestie who ever lived. He will only will eat one flavor of Pangea and sometimes crickets if he feels like it. I’ve tried every flavor until I got the one he liked. The second is that the internet just assumes you have a leopard gecko, I find it harder to find care discussions or tips about them.
I also have an insanely picky crested gecko. It took us a month after we got her to get her to eat repashy, turns out she’s just a Pangea fanatic. She just ate her first cricket the other day, after we’ve been trying for a year. I think it’s a lot more common than people talk about
Dude I'm struggling (I think) to feed my baby crested. When I first got him he was eating fine every other day or so, but the last three weeks or so he's been eating off n on every three to four days. He used to eat his Pangaea regularly and he still does but I'll feed him twice and those two times it seems like he doesn't touch the food. He LOVES roaches though. Little bastard eats 4 then 6 then 8. He is eating because I see his poops and he's also gaining weight as he should be. I got him at 4g and he's at 6g he's five months so he's right on track.
I knowwww my first one was super picky and it scared me half to death when she wouldn’t eat for long periods of time!!!! Finally got her to eat the fig Pangea 🤦♀️
You're timing is impeccable lol I met a local Crestie breeder last night at my local reptile & fish store. Looks like a Crestie just might be my next little addition. Our baby Zero Bearded Dragon comes home in 13 days!!! Currently doing a build out on a new 4×2×2 PVC enclosure for our other baby fancy beardie. Once that's done I start the next build for the Zero. Little things sure are spoiled!!!
I can watch my crestie for hours! She's so active and playful. Will always socialize with me. When feeding her pangea or repashy, I put it on a stick and she chases and hunts the stick. It is perfect for stimulation. One of the reasons I got her was because of their "boring" diet and size. She sometimes does seem a little fragile but she's a little bit of a drama queen lol. She loves to jump but when she misses or doesn't stick the landing, which happens alot, she will cry and run to me lol.
Howwww I want my gecko to get along w me like this ☹️ so far they are so nice but very shy I mean I just got them a month ago but can u tell me how u tame w them so I can w mine pls ?
I absolutely adore my crested gecko so I can’t say I agree but I thank you for doing this video! Because it means people that aren’t cut out to own one will realize it before they purchase one. It prevents a lot of potential neglect so thank you ✌️🙂 I love your channel
Been keeping crested geckos for about 10 years now and still are one of my favorites. My kids love it when it’s “cricket day” because they get to help with dusting crickets and feeding. My daughter’s favorite is Treeco, he’s a Dalmatian morph and when flared up, he’s an interesting shade of green. Yes she named him after the Pokémon which I think is just adorable. Crested geckos aren’t for everyone as you said but there are those that love the species. Keep up the hard work and we love your videos.
This video brought me so much happiness from all the mentioning of how amazing crested geckos are. I just got my first one a couple of weeks ago and I just love watching it drink and eat and climb around and just hang out. They're like Grogu cute in my opinion. 😍
Yo, your geckos may be chill but mine might have came straight from hell he just goes psycho with his powder food he just gulps down and runs like a maniac when there is a cricket he just goes beast mode I love him so much.
ive been watching your channel for a while now, and i finally got my first reptile, a crested gecko. i absolutely LOVE him, cresties are the best! especially for beginner reptile keepers like myself
I have a question, I just got a leopard gecko. And I am wondering how many times a day and for how long should I hold her and what if she does not want to be handled?
Would a crested gecko be ok for a first timer under 10 years of age? My daughter loves reptiles and we are looking for one that would be suitable for her.
My crestie hates me- he’s a young one and he is not very hand- able. He jumps and lands on the floor. I’m afraid he’s going to hurt himself or get lost when I take him out. Will he ever mellow out?
I’m thankful this is mostly clickbait but also holy shït Adam you’re giving your gecko about a month’s worth of food in a single feeding 😂 it could go swimming in that cup lmao
The more I watch the more your title and your content is totally contradicting I love it, I was just curious because my brother took one under his care and I been out of the reptile hobby for years.
I got a crestie recently and I absolutely adore her, she’s so cute and super neat to look at. I’ve found that she also hates Pangea and things and refuses to eat it but she loves meal worms, so it is definitely fun to watch her stalk and attack the worms! I’ve definitely enjoyed having a crestie. She’s my first gecko and I’ve been wanting to have a gecko for 4 years so super super awesome!!
The best of both worlds is my crested/chahoua hybrid 😊 my Rexy is stunning, sweet, so very inquisitive and he even regrew his tail after losing it. I balance out his sweetness by also having a Tokay 😉 lol.
@@gr1tty_l33la they aren't common in the pet trade from what I can tell, although I know one got a lot of attention from various RUclipsrs at the NARBC Tinley show last October. I got mine from a local reptile show last March. I know a lot of people can be off put by hybrids but what I find cool is that cresties and chahouas will sometimes hybridize by themselves in New Caledonia.
@K.L. Manring oh goodness I have seen some cresties that are like that...they want to be looked at but not touched. Good thing they are so darn cute!!! And I love Tokays too! I got a cbb baby after watching Reptiliatus. She's beautiful and while I don't hold her she's not near as defensive as other Tokays I've seen. I plan to build on that trust over time...and I know it's going to take a long time. She's in a temp enclosure right now and I can put my hand in and out without making her upset for the most part. I've had her for about 6 months and she's only gotten sassy with me once in that time...it was 100% my fault.
I love crested geckos and there different morphs/traits and there easy care requirements. Really love the ones with big floppy crests.!! I would love a giant leaf tailed gecko!!!
Slander! Blasphemy! All geckos are perfect! On the note of fragility, my friend's baby gecko decided after 2 hours of acting as a hair accessory, he was gonna yeet himself onto the floor and under a closet. I was freaking out, but he was completely fine. I guess geckos designed for jumping ought to be at least a little fall-proof... Also when you said 1994 was 28 years ago, I felt super old, even though I was born after 1994 😂
My crested/chahoua hybrid likes to chill on my head when I have my hair in a bun. It's super cute but definitely gotta watch the jumping...it scares me too.
I got mine trapped behind the drawers of my dresser. had to go through each one carefully bc I was scared that I would squish him :_; he made it all the way to the bottom and he actually came right up to me so I could take him out and back into his enclosure. He knew he didn't want to be there lol
I had a crestie several years ago that was a jumpy one. It jumped out of my hand while I was transferring it to another enclosure and ran into blankets on a couch. While looking for it, I picked up the blanket and it fell (or leaped) out onto the floor and got stepped on! Unfortunately, the damage was fatal and it died 2 days after the incident. I preserved it in alcohol for a while and then decided to make a taxidermy attempt. Since it's body was well-preserved, I simply allowed it to dry out and I then painted it to show it's original colour and patterns and I ordered realistic glass eyes from a taxidermy supplier. It turned out to be a fantastic artwork.
I have a little crestie myself, Eko. Every time I see him I smile, he's almost always curled up, or stretched out, or just in a generally odd but cute position, and he snaps at the (Dead and calcium dusted) crickets as if they are about to disappear at a moments notice. Whenever I'm gone he goes dark brown, and whenever I come back after being away for a while, he comes to where he's visible and goes to a much lighter shade. Yes, he's slow, Yes, he runs away a lot, but he's also adorable, and loves climbing on people. If you want a somewhat playful reptile that's easy to take care of, a crestie is probably your best bet.
I absolutely LOVE cresties!!! 🥰 I love everything about them. They are literally the PERFECT lizards for me because I HATE crickets! I don't like insects or worms. I love that they are perfectly fine with the powder and fruits. My Ricky is never boring. I could watch him all day! 😊
How active is it? I like the idea of easier care but I would love the handling aspect the most… I’m just worried with it being nocturnal I won’t be able to handle much
Can you artificially impregnate a tokay with a crested ( it would be a mule and inviable species in its own right) and perhaps get more color, less size and ideally less aggression ?
my leopard gecko has had shed stuck on his nose, he’s new and wont let me rub his nose with anything. Once i sprayed him and his tail shot up in the air, do I 100% need to step in because it’s only ontop his nose? If so how?
I personally love my crested gecko, yes they are easy to take care of. I however have a Eco tank and feed bugs often with pangea. I also absolutely love to hold and weigh my gecko he is just absolutely amazing!!
I have so many questions still. I am very seriously considering getting a crested gecko but I might be over thinking some things. What would be a good brand for the enclosure? I worry about the humidity being right what misting system would you recommend? Also do you recommend real plants or fake plants?
It was difficult to choose either crested geckos or gargoyle geckos to be my new pets. Crested geckos can easily drop their tails and they can't regenerate them. That was the biggest reason that I chose gargoyle geckos rather than crested geckos.
My crested gecko of 3 years greets me every night. He climbs all the way to the top of his glass terrarium (which is very tall) and stops where my face is. He puts his tongue out, makes eye contact with me and then goes back to whatever he was doing before. He's my little boy and I love him very much.
My house uses water from a well. Can I use it to spray the enclosure and for water dish? I’m just still doing research before getting my first crested gecko. Thank you
The biggest downside of crested geckos is that they can't be kept in temperatures above 29°C for too long. It can be a big problem if you don't have AC.
Hmm then it will be fine for me. Even in summer. On very bad summers I get 28 °C in my room and that's more rare. Mostly about 25,5°C to 27,8°C during heat waves. I live in Germany btw. And can't handle even these temperatures. My body just shuts down if it's over 27°C. Thanks for that information btw. Hope you have a nice day :3

I laughed so hard when yoshi jumped lol, mine does that from hand to hand and it so satisfying imo, his name is maple because I got him in November, and he's dark orange with light yellow like maple leaves in fall ! He's almost full sized and still has his tail too!
Kuzko was out and watched this with me. He thinks cresties are awesome, he might also be one...lol. This little guy came to us with a spinal issue, while he has trouble sometimes getting around, that just provides us more reasons to hanging out with this awesome guy!
I've had my adult female crestie, Glenda, for a month and she is healthy and active, but she keeps chirping and I'm not sure why. Usually, chirping indicates some sort of stress or sign of feeling threatened, but I can hand feed her, move things in her enclosure, and nearly touch her without her making a sound or fleeing at all. Sometimes when she is not in the mood, she goes to hide in her log, and then I leave her alone, so if she feels threatened then why doesn't she flee? Though she was handled lots by her previous owner, I have not handled her yet as I want to establish trust with her. Sometimes they chirp when they are hungry, but she is well fed. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. She only chirps when I have my hand still in front of her. Again, I can move the plants around an inch from her face and she doesn't care. Sometimes, she moves towards me, licks my hand, and then chirps. I don't get it. Do you have any advice or answers for me? I would appreciate any input.
I’ve wanted a crested gecko ever since I got to pet one in a zoo. I thought they were like a rare species or something because I’d never seen one before. They are so soft and cool looking and I love that they are so common and easy to care for because that means I’m even closer to being able to get one myself.
Hi! Im pretty new here... can you make a video on all the snakes, lizards, etc that have no humidity needs vs. ones that need humidity? Thank you! Party On
Oh, I agree, Cresties are not boring! We have baby camera's in several of our enclosures, and one we have in our gecko's bioactive is my favourite. All the stunts he does at night, crawling on the ceiling and jumping from plant to plant, great fun!
I'm still in research mode but I'm planning to get a crestie... I keep hearing good stuff about pangea but I haven't seen it in any of the petstores near me... is it not as good as what I thought? Is that why I don't see it anywhere... or is it an American brand and I won't be able to find it in Canada (ontario)
So you can pet the crested and gargoyle geckos? I thought they all had skin like the giant day geckos that would slough off if you pet/over-handled them.
I kinda went backwards. I got tokays, banded skinks, ground boas etc and then REALLY wanted a crestie! I just love their eyelashes and the fact theyre sooo easy to take care of!

I think crested geckos are amazing and beautiful animals. I think it is crazy that they survived around 20 years on an island they weren't supposed to be on. Also I love your channel and feel like I learn something new every time I watch a video. Keep up the great content!
do you provide UVB?
Don't you dare say Crested Geckos suck 😤
muahaha
Wmahahah
Cresties are so cute. I love them. They're adorable. They're playful. They love hang out and explore. I love it.
I have 6 cresties and only 1 of them is picky like that. They can go quite a while without food when they are being stubborn too.
I also have an insanely picky crested gecko. It took us a month after we got her to get her to eat repashy, turns out she’s just a Pangea fanatic. She just ate her first cricket the other day, after we’ve been trying for a year. I think it’s a lot more common than people talk about
I have a leo and she's great! Pretty easy to care for, unless people don't like live insects, lol.
"Wham, bam bobs you're uncle" Had me dying 🤣 😂 💀
You're timing is impeccable lol I met a local Crestie breeder last night at my local reptile & fish store. Looks like a Crestie just might be my next little addition. Our baby Zero Bearded Dragon comes home in 13 days!!! Currently doing a build out on a new 4×2×2 PVC enclosure for our other baby fancy beardie. Once that's done I start the next build for the Zero. Little things sure are spoiled!!!
That store wouldn't happen to be Tails and Scales?
@@Jungles_of_Lustria nope, it was at the west side Exotic Pets actually
As someone who’s a naturally lazy person, their care is perfect. I’ve had my boy for two years now and he’s very healthy and happy!
That’s awesome
I love the “that’s called foreshadowing” when you say they sometimes jump
hahahaha glad it landed
Just got my first ever crestie a week ago! Made a bioactive terrarium and everything and loving him!
What do you think? Would you own a crestie?
I have one, he’s a dick and bites and his feet make me super itchy. So I’m okay with him being “boring” lols
Planing to get my first for Christmas!
And I am wondering how many times a day and for how long should I hold her and what if she does not want to be handled?
for how ever long you like, as often as you like
@@WickensWickedReptiles thank you for replying! i think i got the wrong advice from the petco employee, she said 10 minutes per day, so thank you!
We got my 11yo daughter a crestie last year and I swear I have more fun with Peanut than she does! I love cresties!
Would a crested gecko be ok for a first timer under 10 years of age? My daughter loves reptiles and we are looking for one that would be suitable for her.
absolutely! Just know it's YOUR gecko.
@WickensWickedReptiles
Yep I figured whatever I get will be mine…kids will be kids haha thank you!
Honestly, they don't suck in my opinion, I have 2 and they are so adorable! They are so easy to take care of.
they are pretty great!
My crestie hates me- he’s a young one and he is not very hand- able. He jumps and lands on the floor. I’m afraid he’s going to hurt himself or get lost when I take him out. Will he ever mellow out?
Yes, he will most likely mellow out. Adults are generally much less jumpy than juveniles.
Cresties Are The Best Pet Lizards For Begginers 100% In My Opinion
I wouldn't disagree
I beg to differ, gargoyles seem a betterpet
My buddy has a crested Gecko that I adore. She is so friendly and literally sits on my shoulder when we are hanging out!
I love cresties
I’m thankful this is mostly clickbait but also holy shït Adam you’re giving your gecko about a month’s worth of food in a single feeding 😂 it could go swimming in that cup lmao
I thought the same thing.... I was like wow he must waste a lot of that. Maybe not a months worth, but definitely several feedings worth!
well some of us want Komodo sized cresties, let me guess, "You shouldn't be putting your geckos on steroids"... whatever, basic crestie keeper!
@@WickensWickedReptiles “My 500 Gram Life” coming to TLC soon 😌
The more I watch the more your title and your content is totally contradicting I love it, I was just curious because my brother took one under his care and I been out of the reptile hobby for years.
I love my crestie, Its a huge contrast from my other reptiles. And I think thats why I love it. Its just super chill. And super easy to keep.
That's awesome!
This vid actually makes me want one even more!
that's the idea ;)
Me, too! My 13 yo son wants one so we are researching.
Thanks for the video!
@9:39 is that the real snake discovery?!?!?
Yep! I’m at her facility right now actually
The best of both worlds is my crested/chahoua hybrid 😊 my Rexy is stunning, sweet, so very inquisitive and he even regrew his tail after losing it. I balance out his sweetness by also having a Tokay 😉 lol.
Wow I didn't know they could mate! Where did you get one?
My Cresthoua is a beautiful lizard, but he absolutely hates being handled.
Mine unfortunately got the Cresty trait of not growing the tail back, other will grow them back
I love crested geckos and there different morphs/traits and there easy care requirements. Really love the ones with big floppy crests.!! I would love a giant leaf tailed gecko!!!
well said
I considered a cresty but I'm not a fan of the frog butt so I went with the closest thing... a gargoyle gecko and I adore her. Great vid Adam, thanks!
Slander!
Also when you said 1994 was 28 years ago, I felt super old, even though I was born after 1994 😂
hahahah same!
@@mitcht1324 I'm glad you were able to preserve it in a way that was meaningful to you :)
Dude mine is the same way. He sleeps in the craziest positions. But I love him. He's awesome.
I was looking into one, but the reasons seemed to be positives for me. I actually am completely fine with feeding one insects and the like.
How active is it? I like the idea of easier care but I would love the handling aspect the most… I’m just worried with it being nocturnal I won’t be able to handle much
What consistency should their food be
like a Puree
I love it wicked wickens reptile have a nice day have a absolutely wonderful day great work have a great day have a cool day wicked reptile
thank you so much!
Can you artificially impregnate a tokay with a crested ( it would be a mule and inviable species in its own right) and perhaps get more color, less size and ideally less aggression ?
Bro 5:58💀😭
WEEEEE
Hey it would be super awesome if you did a video on if plant grow lights can put off the uvb needed for reptiles
they don't
3 reasons to get a crested gecko
my leopard gecko has had shed stuck on his nose, he’s new and wont let me rub his nose with anything.
I love creasted gecko but I'm a very affectionate how long are you aloud to touch them?
My crested gecko of 3 years greets me every night. He climbs all the way to the top of his glass terrarium (which is very tall) and stops where my face is. He puts his tongue out, makes eye contact with me and then goes back to whatever he was doing before.
He's my little boy and I love him very much.
My chameleon recently passed away, but I think I’m set on getting a crested gecko next. Sometime early next year!!
sorry to hear this!
My house uses water from a well. Can I use it to spray the enclosure and for water dish? I’m just still doing research before getting my first crested gecko. Thank you
I would check the water quality first
The biggest downside of crested geckos is that they can't be kept in temperatures above 29°C for too long.
Hope you have a nice day :3
"Everyone has a ball python" yes. I have one. And i couldnt be happier.
same!
@@WickensWickedReptiles i got her 3 weeks ago and i have never loved anything more. She is great about being handled and eats with no problems
I've been waiting for a vid like this. Thanks dude.
Hope you enjoyed it!
Trying to get my crested Fix. Still waiting to set up my 40 breeder terrarium. Had one in the past with 2 crested's and a bunch of frogs and fish. And I miss it.
My friend just recently let me adopt his crestie, and I love this little guy. He’s so fun to watch.
The only con for me is that they can't grow their tail back but I can't find a list of species growing back their tails, could you help?
I normally don’t comment, but man the quality on your videos is on a whole different level
I clicked on this video totally confused bc the one I watched before this was “crested gecko care” and you seemed to really like them. You got me, lol. Convinced that I also need a crestie.
Awesome video, After a year of convincing my parents to let me get a crested gecko I have finally won the battle. I want to personally thank you and your channel for getting me into reptiles in the first place, and i cant forget about Yoshi.
Do you have any recommendations of reptiles or amphibians that don’t need to eat live food? (Other than cresties)
I'm in love with crested geckos' lil grabby hands and frog butts! They're suuuper cute!
Could you please make a video about the best arboreal reptiles for beginners? I want to get my first reptile and I want an arboreal one but idk which ones are best
My crested gecko sometimes just become a cheetah, he maybe afraid of domething, but he runs in his enclosure falling and climbing on glass with incredible speed. The humidity is normal, temperature too, he eats and poop well, but please, can someone explain this
I laughed so hard when yoshi jumped lol, mine does that from hand to hand and it so satisfying imo, his name is maple because I got him in November, and he's dark orange with light yellow like maple leaves in fall ! He's almost full sized and still has his tail too!
so cool eh!
Loved the OverSimplified clip in there 😂
Kuzko was out and watched this with me. He thinks cresties are awesome, he might also be one...lol. This little guy came to us with a spinal issue, while he has trouble sometimes getting around, that just provides us more reasons to hanging out with this awesome guy!
I have a crested gecko, any tips on starting to introduce handling?
The food is definitely not a negative......the powder option is fantastic especially if you ever want to travel or take a vacation.
I also agree
I got my second crestie and idk if I'm even going to bother getting bugs for it
I’ve wanted a crested gecko ever since I got to pet one in a zoo. I thought they were like a rare species or something because I’d never seen one before. They are so soft and cool looking and I love that they are so common and easy to care for because that means I’m even closer to being able to get one myself.
were you able to get one?
@@fulanodetal3000 I am able to yeah. But should move out first 😅
Hi! Im pretty new here... can you make a video on all the snakes, lizards, etc that have no humidity needs vs. ones that need humidity? Thank you! Party On
Thanks for the idea!
Oh, I agree, Cresties are not boring! We have baby camera's in several of our enclosures, and one we have in our gecko's bioactive is my favourite. All the stunts he does at night, crawling on the ceiling and jumping from plant to plant, great fun!
im currently studying at university...
so would it be fine if i left my crestie in his terrarium for 2 days if i go visit parents?
I'm still in research mode but I'm planning to get a crestie... I keep hearing good stuff about pangea but I haven't seen it in any of the petstores near me... is it not as good as what I thought? Is that why I don't see it anywhere... or is it an American brand and I won't be able to find it in Canada (ontario)
I’m in Ontario too. You should be able to get it here. The website reptiles r us sells it.
So you can pet the crested and gargoyle geckos? I thought they all had skin like the giant day geckos that would slough off if you pet/over-handled them.
I kinda went backwards. I got tokays, banded skinks, ground boas etc and then REALLY wanted a crestie! I just love their eyelashes and the fact theyre sooo easy to take care of!
i love how every crested gecko video yoshie is just jumping and climbing you
I got a crested gecko as my first reptile a couple mouths ago. His enclosure is a little small but I have his new enclosure made with custom made walls. I’m excited for the new enclosure.
One of my crested geckos goes crazy when she sees crickets. She's bitten my fingers sometimes when I'm petting her.
cool!
Awesome video! I like the twist of it.
thanks!
“That’s called foreshadowing.” Had me murdered. Thanks mate
hahaha
