Hey great Video! Do you (or anyone) know if there is a way to record to an SSD without an external monitor..just bare bones recording to an ssd? I have the xT3 and an SSD, but i don't want to splurge on a monitor, also I like to keep my rig ultra-light.
I'm not sure if this has been asked before but if I am shooting Full HD HIGH SPEED REC of 2 x 59.94P 120P, do I need to set my shutter speed to 240? or just 120?
Yes. If your are shooting 120fps then your ideal shutter would be 1/240 or as you mentioned slowing down to 60fps .. but if you’re shooting a true 60fps your ideal shutter would be 1/120
Pablo the Pilgrim unless you need 10bit out for a client, Netflix, or something like that 8bit is fine. If you’re just uploading to web shooting h264 is good. You might notice that the colors are smoother in 10bit in a scene that has a lot of information, but otherwise you may never see it. I hope that helps!
Atomos has a docking station for the SSD drives. They simply plug into the dock, and then you transfer the footage like you would any other media card. Hope that helps!
So I am totally new to this and this ? may be extremely dumb but if I’m shooting at 4 x 25P (100P) would my shutter be 50 or 100? Assuming 100 but wanted to ask. Thanks!!
Kristie Jochim your shutter should be double your frame rate .. so if your shooting 25p... shutter would be 1/50s(50). If you are shooting 100fps / 100p your shutter would need to be 1/200s (200)
Kristie Jochim yes... the camera is still capturing all 100 frames then converting the file too 25p ... having the correct shutter speed / shutter angle is going to make your footage smoother.
Peter Cerrato I have shot a full wedding on it ... but never a straight 30min recording, just all day use over 8hrs. Even on commercials shoots we don’t run the cameras that long. No issues.
@@SierraCreative That is awesome :-) I just watched a review on the camera, and the person said that when in face detect, that if the person moves their head to side or turns, that the focus wigs out a bit... That true?
Peter Cerrato I haven’t seen that. I use a combo of MF & AF ... whatever the moment or shot calls for. I feel like I have my settings adjusted pretty well for natural feeling AF
When you shoot in F-LOG you are pushed to ISO 640 - This is where you will gain the most Dynamic Range. If you shoot in Eterna you will be able to shoot in a lower ISO value. Eterna is very flat and grades well. Otherwise slap on an ND filter and shoot F-LOG! Hope that helps.
@@SierraCreative *I figured it out by reading the manual lol. basically when your dynamic range is set to 400 the lowest iso you can go is 640. If the DR is at 200 iso will be around 320 and DR 100 iso will be 160.*
MrStricker1234 depends on the output needed. It’s usually 4096x2160 or 1920x1080 @ 24p - if I’m outputting 1080p I still shoot in 4k and scale to fit. Hope that helps.
What editor are you using? If windows do you have quicktime installed? Also, are you editing in proxy or full resolution? Check out the free version of DaVinci Resolve and edit in proxy, it may help!
@@aaronthomas9163 I don't have to with my iMac Pro - You can open resolve, go to playback on top menu, then select quarter resolution. I would also right click footage and convert the h265 to optimized media for playback as well.
@@aaronthomas9163 I just stopped using premiere mostly .. and went to Davini. I love Resolve! I have always used for most color projects, but now I have fully moved over.
I've run into a problem and would like to know if there is a fix? If you use an external monitor/evf and use the mini HDMI port, the sound in the headphone jack won't work unless directly plugged into the monitor. So there is no way to monitor the sound unless your monitor/evf has audio connection. Is this my camera or an major issue with this camera. Please help. Thanks!
I tried with the external mic option on and off and still no sound. I use an Marshall monitor, I use an shotgun mic. I plug in the mic, I plug in the monitor, when I plug in the headphones... No sound. Have you tested this out or is just a defect with my camera? I tried with the external mic option on and off and still no sound. with out the monitor plugged in the sound is great.
Another way of doing it, is setting your shutter to "T" and the command dial controls the shutter speed. Easier when you want to change it beyond the 1/60 range. That's how I use it for stills and it carried over to video.
Felipe Yang I thought the T was mainly to dial in longer exposure times. That’s how I’ve used it in the past. Didn’t think it would work for video. Great tip! I’ll have to see how I like working this way.
Great video, thank you!!
Are you still using your XH1? Im planning to sell my XH1 and get the XT3 hopefully you can have a comparison video about the two. Best of luck!

fuji give us an auto cinema mode where the shutter keeps 180 degree
That would be nice! I’m I the only one .. but I’d rather have an XH-2 before the X-T4 !!!
@@SierraCreative i already have a good dslr for photo ,,xt3 makes good video and good money
Don Gerra Marco XH2 would be an amazing video beast!
@@SierraCreative why?
It will never be better than xt4
xt4 might just be an xt3 wit 4.2.2 internal and still no 4k 60 all intra

Hi,thanks for these videos. When recording to the Ninja V SSD how do you then get the footage to the computer? Thanks.
Atomos has a docking station for the SSD drives. They simply plug into the dock, and then you transfer the footage like you would any other media card. Hope that helps!
Awesome! Would you prefer shooting at 60fps in 1080 all I? Is that even an option over shooting 60fps long op?

Kristie Jochim no problem! Glad I could help!
Have you recorded over the 30min limit via the Atomos V? and if so, any overheating issues?
Peter Cerrato I have shot a full wedding on it ... but never a straight 30min recording, just all day use over 8hrs. Even on commercials shoots we don’t run the cameras that long. No issues.
@@SierraCreative That's good to hear... Your videos are really well done. Do you typically just record into the atomos?
Peter Cerrato I do both! You can record to the Atomos V and Fuji at the same time. Pretty awesome stuff !

I can't edit the h265. Is it better to record h265 and then transcode to h264, or to record directly to h264.?? Thanks

What will happen if the slot 1 is full when recording? Does it automatically switch to slot 2 or is there a setting to configure?
It will switch to slot 2 by default in Movie Mode.
Man how to you edit those All-I files?? And I can’t even play back H.265 on my computer. Why is that?
What software are you using. You can download Davinci Resolve for free and just edit the footage in 1/4 resolution if needed.

Why dosent showing this manual focus distince indicator in my camera
The dial facing you is called the "rear command dial".
Darius Vick hahaha.. “I guess I dumbed it down to much .. but yes.. technically “rear command” - now I need to make a part 3 hahaha .. thanks
I appreciate you making the set-up video but I wanted to make sure new FUJI users like myself have the most comprehensive learning experience.
