      @yey6561 I've found it in Warrior of the Mind, it plays when young!Ody is looking for Athena, it's in the background at the start of Polyphemus when they're asking "it's almost too perfect (...) why would the lotus eaters pass up on all this food?" and I swear there's a version of it during Survive playing along with Odysseus's commands to his men and again when Polyphemus kills them. There's also a kinda slow and bit of it after he yells "you're alone!" at Athena in My Goodbye and I think it's in the background while he's talking privately with Eurylochus in How Much Longer too? My kid also swears she hears it in the wind instruments of Keep Your Friends Close and then again when they open the bag, but I don't hear it personally, IDK maybe she has a better ear than me lol. One that's loud and clear though - the sailors call out "captain! Captain!" to the tune of the danger motif as they're drowned in Ruthlessness, and when they call to him again in the Underworld. Also tell me if I'm wrong but isn't that it at the beginning of Puppeteer when he's talking to Eurylochus? When Eury is all "yo I need to talk to you" and Ody tells him to stfu and go check the island? Which would make sense because this is the second foreshadowing of Eury's turn on him later in the story. It's clear as day when they finally do fight in Mutiny. It's in the dance music when Circe's singing to the soldiers in the same song, and then it appears again in Thunderbringer. I stg Thunderbringer is basically this tune with extra steps lol which makes sense Zeus is a scary motherfucker he's just not looking to kill Ody. Anyways I'm not gonna dive too much into the unfinished songs but yeah it's there a bunch.
      Also I might be imagining it but I swear there's like a half version of the melody or the chord version or something that plays other times in the background, like when he starts prepping himself to kill the baby in Just A Man or when he's discussing the island with his friends in Full Speed Ahead or at some points during the Cyclops encounters, it's in Circe's songs and the beginning of the Underworld song. Like I could swear loads of bits have the same, IDK chord progression or something? Not the same tune but like an echo of it. Maybe someone more musically educated can tell me lol.

    Ooooh, I never noticed this motif, that's so cool!! I noticed another motif like this throughout the Circe Saga, actually!! I've been calling it "The Circe Theme." You hear it for the first time in Puppeteer when Eurolychus returns from the island without any of his men. Once you hear the rest of the saga, you realize that it's supposed to be foreshadowing that Circe did something to the rest of the crew because the theme plays before her character sings for the first time. It's played by what I'm guessing is viola (since Circe's "instrument" seems to be strings instruments, particularly violins and violas). And it continues to show up throughout the rest of the Saga in various places. Very clever foreshadowing, incorporation, and motif work, Jay!!
    Note: If you want a few more motifs and song references from the Circe Saga, here are a few I noticed!!
    1. Full Speed Ahead motif- Right at the beginning, the harp pattern is a callback to “Full Speed Ahead,” specifically the line that goes “Polites, gear up, you and I’ll go ahead, we should try to find a way no one ends up dead” based on the number of syllables. This is super interesting because that line directly refers to exploring new land like Eurylochus and Odysseus are doing in this song. However, the last time that Odysseus went to explore new land, with Polites, they ended up being led into a cave that killed his best friend. It's a super neat connection because in this similar situation, Odysseus is worried that the new land will be dangerous, so he's having his men observe it. It's also foreshadowing, though, because in Full Speed Ahead, the land exploration led to disaster. Similarly, as we find out later in the soundtrack and story, the same thing happens here- Odysseus's men disappear into this palace and don't return. It's literally direct foreshadowing hidden before our very eyes- disaster is just waiting ahead.
    2. "Eurolychus is Worried" motif- When the piano begins for Eurylochus’s singing in Puppeteer, it’s, once again, a direct callback to one of the other Saga songs, this time “Luck Runs Out” from the Ocean Saga. When Eurylochus is telling Odysseus that he is worried about possible disaster that lies ahead because they keep taking risks, this same left-hand piano riff plays, just in a different key signature. In comparison, this same riff plays at the beginning of Puppeteer when Eurylochus is telling Odysseus that there’s something that needs to be said. However, it is quickly dismissed by Odysseus. Based on this logic, my guess is that Eurylochus was going to try to tell Odysseus that they were taking too much of a chance simply trusting the path that lies ahead, including the palace on this new island. It seems to be a pattern: whenever this piano riff plays, Eurylochus confesses his worries about people dying because of a possible danger. Very clever pattern, and a great way to silently tell the listeners what he was going to say.
    3. "Odysseus is Clever" motif (credit to @lexiwolfe651 for helping me piece this one together)- This is the guitar riff at the very beginning of "The Horse and the Infant" along with two inclusions within Done For and one in Remember Them. Basically, whenever this guitar riff plays, it typically means that Odysseus is planning something clever, whether that is how to attack in battle, how to trick Circe, or how to trick the cyclops.
    Hope you enjoyed!!

      This was so good! I also noticed some of this things when I heard them, like the "Penelope's motif" in "There are other ways" when Odysseus rejected Circe and was going to start singing about her, I already knew what was going to happen and what or more like who he was going to sing about when he said "I can't!", I already knew that it was his wife whom he had in mind when he said that but the "Penelope's motif" that came right after he said that made it clear and reinforced that, all before he actually started to talk about his wife, so we can also know when he is thinking about his family, his wife and son, even without him mentioning them or before he says anything through motifs related to them, not only when he actually starts to talk about them and the motifs play in the background while he does it like in "The Horse an the Infant", when we are first introduced to "Penelope's motif" when Odysseus starts to talk about his wife and her motif plays as he does so while he sings her name following the melody of her motif, and also later in the song when Zeus and the chorus created by him name her and the voices of the chorus sing her name like Odyseus did when talking about his wife earlier following the melody of her motif, motifs of certain characters could also play in any other moment that is about the character related to that motif in particular having their moment and doing or talking about something or about to take some action or say something, like in the song "The Challenge" which still hasn't come out but it's a song about Penelope sung by her and her motif is very present there, along of course with the instruments related to her, wich are string instruments like the violin and viola (even though I'm not very good at detecting specific instruments)

    • @lexiwolfe651
      @lexiwolfe651 4 месяца назад +4

      I think the "horse and the infant" motif you're referring to here might be what I think of as the "Odysseus has a plan/Odysseus is being clever" motif. The electric guitar riff, right? It plays right at the beginning of Done For when he's entering the palace to confront Circe, and again as their confrontation is ramping up. It shows up a few other places as well, like in the Cyclops saga ("if nobody hurts you, be silent").

    • @doloresgronenberg5882

      @@lexiwolfe651, yes, it plays every time Odysseus is using his cunning, Jorge said it too, that's why it plays at certain moments in songs like "The Horse and the Infant" and "Done for", when he's putting his cunning into play

    After you explained, what a 'danger is near' motif was, I finally understood why certain video games, like (one that I'm currently playing) 'God of war: Ragnarok', before we go head on into battle the atmosphere is calm and you can only hear the sounds of wildlife or the winds, and the sounds of kratos grunting (etc etc), but as soon as soon as we near the danger the music itself starts to shift, darkening as we venge forward, as if the entire make-belief world has gone quiet.
    in amidst to the battle, has our ears fall deaf amongst the winds, noises of wildlife, etc etc and onto the monsters, bosses, giant bosses (so on and so forth) awaiting to see, wether we succeed or not - which, to carry on the game you have to succeed, which can lead to quite a few trials and errors If your working our a strategy to take down the danger that your facing -, the 'danger is near' moti' in songs, games, etc etc is quite litteraly, the world of fantasy saying that we've just run into danger, and we're either screwed or we survive.

    This whole time I saw it as the “Battle!” motif, kind of like when you anger an NPC in Oblivion, but danger makes waaaayyy more sense!

    I knew I heard a consistent motif through out the songs but I couldn’t put my finger on it! About to go listen to all the songs and search for it now 😂

    I did notice it in “Warrior of the Mind” however I am a bit confused as to where the danger is, I know for a fact that Athena didn’t want to harm Odysseus in that part, and Odysseus didn’t want to harm Athena, it was just during the time he tricked her into thinking he could see her
