When Odyseuss arrives he is shocked at seeing how Penelope has aged. He's sad, not because his wife is older, but because they didn't grow old together.
As Tiresias foretold, Odysseus is no more the man once he used to be :'( 20 yrs is more than enough to change a person completely But there's one thing even those 20 yrs couldn't change or take away.... Odysseus's love for his wife and son
@justlazykid yes a lot of work goes into stuff like this and I'm not discrediting that at all especially since like I said I am a songwriter too so I know first hand the amount that goes into writing good songs but I consider this level of skill talent regardless of if it was natural or hard won through hours of work and I would consider it a blessing from the gods for any person to have the inclination ability and resources necessary to reach this level of skill. Jay is amazing and the work he has put in to get here was well worth it in my opinion. I feel blessed just to be able to listen to his music
Just seeing how much this musical has developed from concepts from that incredible brain of yours has me so freaking emotional! I think the joy this has brought me has restored my health because not only has my sickness passed but I've passed all my exams, too! Thank you for the great vibes, and I can't wait to hear the finished product! Wishing you well, Jay!
As someone who knows nothing about music and do not care enough to learn, I thank you for explaining this, because I would not be able to notice this by myself and I love to listen to the intentions behind the music beyond the lyrics. Though I know musicians put a lot of effort into their songs, I am happy that I can appreciate it now with a bit more understanding beyond "I like the sound/words."
Look I never get emotional over stuff anymore but hearing the just a man theme swelling practically hearing the "I would trade the world to see my son and wife" but knowing that he has gotten back... I gotta be honest it made me feel some stuff
Alongside the sagas that get released I think it would be cool to release the instrumentals of each song separately without the vocals just the music you’ve orchestrated.
Oh my goodness, I love the videos where he explains the reasoning behind the compositions!!! I’ve always loved musicals, but I’ve always been more focused on lyrics than composition, so hearing all this symbolism hidden in the orchestration is SO COOL and has unlocked another side of musical analysis for me!!!
When the just a man motif played, I literally began to tear up. And we only really heard that part. I know I'm going to be sobbing when the song is released! I love this so much!!
I love how much love and detail has been put into every second of this musical, things I’d never think of in a million years. I’m so excited to hear the full song for this
I’m just over here listening to a lot of the instrumental versions because Mr Jalapeño refuses to give us the lyrics in some of his videos and it’s so beautiful. And after hearing all of these I was just like “ok after song 40 comes out this man needs to release a instrumental version of epic the musical” I started tearing up hearing the instrumental version, that’s how good it is. I NEVER tear up for any song unless it’s absolutely beautiful, so the fact I teared up for this proves how amazing he is with his music
Wow, I guess he did learn how ruthlessness is mercy upon himself then. (Also, shjdendoxksjwks I can't believe all the songs are finished I'm so excited to listen to and obsess over all of them aghggh)
Bruh honestly most of this goes way over my head and I definitely wouldn’t have noticed this while listening/watching the musical so I really appreciate these videos that show off the depth of effort put into the music
This song is gonna leave me a sobbing wreck 😭 I can’t wait! Love these breakdowns, they are like, almost of the same level as the Lord of the Rings special features. ❤
The music pieces are what made me fall inlove with Epic! Like, you can easily tell when Athena is present, and how it keeps referring back to previous episodes. This composition is a masterpiece.
The real question is: how could you possibly already talk so deeply about songs that aren't out yet? I'm already dying at song 25, what the hell... Anyway, you're a freaking genius.
It’s 2 am but it just dawned on me and I had to share. In Tiresias or whatever his name is song he said that he saw a man make it back home alive but it’s no longer him. In this song we see how he’s no longer the man Penelope knew before he left. What do we see here? Tiresias was technically right! A different man made it back home even though it was technically Odysseus
Thank you for letting the music play for people that just don’t understand music theory. I appreciate your work though I would not be able to do it like other people not my talent.
You know what's brilliant? The fact that i already understood all of these intentions and messages without the explanation. But I didn't know WHY that message came across so well. Well, Now i know. And knowing is half the battle-- G. I. JOE!!!
How is this song not even OUT yet and I already know it's going to be my favourite song in this entire musical - I love how much thought and consciousness goes into each song that you make and I know that the love and fans will only grow from here
Everytime I think how impressive all this is Jorge one ups himself and now i have ANOTHER thing to scream over.. I'm so happy to have been here during this journey and I look forward to seeing how absolutely amazing it all turns out!!
I would love to see someone break down the triplets thing into a visual, I struggle a lot to pick up on the technical side of music and I can't really tell what the difference is besides like, a general shift in tempo 😅
Knowing all the cool secret symbolisms and meanings behind all the music just adds another layer of uniqueness to this already amazing musical. Can’t wait to see it all finally come together, super excited to hear the concept album for the Ocean Saga later this year fingers crossed everything goes to plan!🤞🏼
I have a soft spot for songs in this particular music key, so I already love this song, but the little details I can look out for in the final product when it’s released make the song so much better! Thank you for creating this!
I love all the details and little things that the music tells us and this... this made my eyes tear up :"] I've been saying this since the moment I stumbled in this musical, but I will say it again: I will wait whatever it takes to hear all of your work. And thank you very much, Jay. You deserve the world.
I love how much time Jay has put into these songs and how in depth these songs are! I just love it more and more every time I see these explanation videos!
The fact that ruthlessness is associated with triplets, and that the theme of ruthlessness is most blatantly displayed to Odysseus and the audience by Poseidon, who wields a three-pronged trident.
Dude you have done an amazing job of deep intellectual storytelling on so many levels in so excited for the full finished version and the day a full orchestra plays your masterpiece front to back side thank you for sharing this gift with us
DUDE!!! This is such a beautiful and powerful closing piece! I LOVE it. I’ve been able to watch you grow and excel for the last 3 years, and seeing the show finally hint towards its closure is so inspiring and holds such an inspiration in my heart. Your work on Epic has actually inspired me to start writing my own musical, so thank you! Also that trumpet entrance, AAAAA I want to learn that!!! Keep up the phenomenal work
I love how mcuh thought you put into this. That's what makes it unique. I discovered epic through an edit from my favorite book (Warriors) with the song My Goodbye. As a Greek mythology nerd myself I needed to check the original and the other songs out immediately and they are AMAZING. The interpretation, the voice actors portraying the different characters and the music overall are a masterpiece. I can't wait to see the finished musical. I'm already hyped up
When Odyseuss arrives he is shocked at seeing how Penelope has aged. He's sad, not because his wife is older, but because they didn't grow old together.
And ody looks the exact same if not better than he left.
Why did reading this comment make me cry a bit?
WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME THIS!!!! 😭😭😭
😭😭😭
HE FINDS THE BALANCE BETWEEN RUTHLESSNESS AND SOFTNESS OMG- I will never be normal abt this
Or a balance between ruthlessness and mercy?
@@ked49those are the same? It is merely that Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves

I am becoming more and more convinced this guy is a demigod child of either Apollo or Dionysus. Maybe even one of the Muses.
