So true because after seeing wolfy's animatics, whenever I try to imagine Odysseus I can only see Wolfy's version even though I have seen so many other animatics.
If we do not get that animation in the works, I will lose my mind. I NEED TO SEE IT. Your vision is literally so perfect, I was imagining all these scenes and omg, you need to make this happen, please.
Ever since I've herad epic, I try to picture what will it look like on stage. As a community theatre person, I think a lot of things that can be acheived through minimalism, and Epic is perfect for that because lots of the information is already delivered through the lyrics and music. For instance, I had the idea of illustrating the scenes using several stair-cases the can be located in different ways on stage to perform situations and building, like the ship and the cyclops's cave.
I love that movie so much not just because im Catholic but its just such an amazing movie I highly reccomend that but rather first watch Joseph King of Dreams, as it is more of a prequel of how the hebrews came to egypt
I think Jay's passion for this show alone makes knowing EPIC worth it. I mean look at him, he is so Happy! And not only that, but EPIC as a whole is...just pure bliss
An animated EPIC movie in Arcane style would be a MASTERPIECE. To be honest I’m partial to the idea of an animated movie because I simply can’t imagine anyone but the cast you’ve put together for the concept album playing these characters and I feel that an animation would give more wiggle room in that regard. But no matter what visual medium EPIC ends up being it is sure to be GLORIOUS
Personally the challenge of adapting this for the stage excites me more than I can possibly express. I am a theater child, I grew up in production after production. And the creativity involved in pulling off that amount of beauty, danger, and magic on a daily basis is something akin to The Muny having real fireworks during BE OUR GUEST at thier production of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. I also am a huge fan of on stage sword play, and I would personally love to see FIGHT LITTLE WOLF live on stage. I think you could do some wicked movement with that scene. Plus, if Penelope and Odysseus could have a little dance scene at their final reunion, that would make my day. The live action movie definately presents it's own fun, but only if you and your other Epic castmates are resuming your roles. Honestly at this point, I can't see anyone else as Odysseus but you, Jay, and I think the entire internet following will agree with me on that. Other than that, you have the entire range of Movie magic at your disposal and I think it would really bring this thing to life. Don't even get me started on the costume design that would take place, I mean come on! Though I would do it in parts, maybe? Like you did with the sagas. I just don't want the adventure to feel like it ended too quickly. As a manga and anime fan myself, I am so down for an anime version. the Attack on Titan style would definately do it justice. I have also seen some art from Death Note and I am a major fan of Demon Slayer and those styles might be interesting as well. I do agree with the color schemes, associating certain songs or scenes with specific colors would up the wow factor. Most of the Monsters would also be fun to design and the fight scenes might get a bit more...pardon the pun...EPIC...in an anime medium. The other advantage of this is if some of the other cast are uncomfortable with the spotlight of doing live action then doing voice overs would appeal to them. Though, you all look fairly confident from what I've seen. Alright that is my opinion on all three of those options. Thank you for letting me ramble and thank you even more if you actually read the entire thing. Good luck, Jay!
I think the truly amazing thing is that Epic doesn’t even need to be adapted visually because Jay wrote it so cleverly- you can SEE everything that’s happening while listening to it.
I'm a theater person, so I've been imagining ways to make this work onstage! I've mentioned some of that on the epic server as well, but I don't think I clearly mentioned this, and I think it jives very well with what you've been saying. I know everyone has had their own ways of setting apart the gods from the people, and one of the ways I've seen is shadows to make them look bigger than they are. I think it's a cool concept, but I've seen it more as bright colors. Not bright lights necessarily, but just the colors themselves being more intense and popping more. Like, storm might be covered with blue, but that would be a more dull blue that would greatly intensify later into a brighter one when poseidon shows up, for example. That was inspired by your electro feel with the gods in their music. Similar to your thoughts of more advances technology, which doesn't clash at all with it imo. That's something I think could be really cool to play with I'm also imagining it in warrior of the mind. Like, when they start their conversation in the flashback, Athena could be set apart from Odysseus through a brighter-colored set of lights in her color. When he agrees to be her student, his lights could then grow brighter to mimic hers because he's now the student of a god, even if he isn't technically one himself. The reverse could happen in my goodbye I'd so love to discuss staging techniques if you ever want to because that fascinates me and I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on it. I am absolutely not a designer so I've tried to stay away from the cyclops saga and things like it because I'm simply not qualified to be imagining them haha But I've been mentally staging some scenes and I'd be really curious to hear your thoughts on them if you ever wanted to. On the server I'm Krizztine (: Also I completely get if not, it's your show and I'm sure you're a busy guy, but I absolutely love discussing things like this and epic has been an excellent mental experiment for me as an aspiring director
So so so heavily there for an animated version. Specifically 2D. Like we've all seen WolfytheWitch's animatics on Epic and how amazing they are. It's just insane
The way I got SO EXCITED to hear him mention Arcane. Audibly gasped and rushed to the comments EPIC and Jay keep getting more and more appealing to my little tism brain!
Oh my gosh, it’s literally one of my dreams to see Epic The Musical performed live on stage! All of this sounds so amazing and I’m extremely excited for what’s to come!
From the moment I heard the songs from EPIC, I pictured them in animation. Especially watching the animatics here on RUclips of some of the songs, I feel like that would be the peak medium for it to be portrayed BECAUSE you can do so much more than you can irl. But if this comes as a stage play or LAF, I'm most likely going to pay to see it SEVERAL times, lmao.
I feel like if Epic were to be adapted into a visual medium animation would be the best option. Not only because of the animatics that already exist but because I feel like there is so much more depth you could do with animation. Like with the colours, locations, effects and choreography presenting more interestingly I’ve been bingeing these videos and hearing about the process and musical Easter eggs that are included matches really well with animation
I found Epic by watching animatics, and that is still my favorite form of consumption, so yeah, animating it is very promising. I also actually really like how some scenes with videos you’ve done have been acted out, and I think the mixed media of theatre being filmed and stitched together like this is very interesting and kind of works for this musical. Epic could in theory take place on multiple stages or set ups, especially for different sagas. I view Epic as kind of a product of mixed media with how much the fan base has put into it and I think whatever happens with it, media mixing could be very powerful, maybe even combining live action and animation, or having animation on a projector/screen for certain scenes. Since Epic is based on a story that could give it a more legendy-vibe.
Ohoho, an animated or theatrical production would be amazing! Definitely the Cirque do Soleil's team has an incredible talent to make this kind of stuff, is always gorgeous to watch
I like imagine EPIC in a stage adaptation, I see the dances and the theatrical expressions of any character with that feeling and choreographic moves surrounded by scenografies with practical effects
I would LOVE to see it animated. There’s so much you can do with the medium that you can’t with live action, or stage productions. Like how some things using VFX look out of place in an otherwise normal-looking world, or when theres a completely VFX world, and a clearly real person is just dropped in. Animation makes quite literally anything in the story possible. It’s also available to everyone, unlike stage productions, as cool as those might be. (I’m also an animation nerd, so seeing my favorite musical in that format would be incredible).
I would like to present myself for consideration to be a choreographer if EPIC becomes a stage production. Every time I listen to the music I imagine the movement of the actors and ensemble and have many ideas for it. Especially since EPIC is sung all the way through there are so many avenues to interpret the music into movement and I would love to be a part of making that come to life.
Also, I'd love to see the on-stage version because I'd love to see the adaption of dance into this. The thrilling battle scenes and even the lotus eaters could all have a different style of dance with them
I must see this show made. Whether by my high school’s drama club (if Jay would let it happen without issue cause copyright and stuff, I get it) or a full scale Broadway production. Jay’s vision is HAMILTON LEVELS OF INCREDIBLE. And considering Hamilton redefined theatre as a whole, that’s saying something. Keep it up Jay! Dionysus, god of theatre and wine, would 100% approve of your vision!
Speaking of games, I think it would be an amazing game. I like the idea that you are supposed to lead a battle into troy, and personally pick up and drop the child, making it so much more personal than just watching or seeing it. Have about 7 story paths you can go on, from being ruthless from the start and ending ruthless, or staying merciful. Maybe be ruthless, doubt themselves, be ruthless again, and end mercifully. Have them have combat, as well as points in the story where they have to make decisions in order to increase moral, or at least stop its descent. This is just an idea, and making 7 branches may not be enough for my idea. It is a beautiful story, and deserves a wonderful portrayal.
I constantly imagine Epic as if it were done as a play at my old high school, so tech would be limited but I keep thinking of how the crew could get around their limitations, even just the use of lighting to represent different characters, like having a light blue tinted spotlight for Quick Thought and different colored strobe lights for Poseidon's storm and Zeus' lightning. But the sets, props, and choreography would be a major highlight.
I love both musicals and animation. It would be just amazing if EPIC got to be in animated form! I like your big ideas for a stage play too. I'm excited for whatever media EPIC becomes in the future.
I don’t knw how he does it but everything he described already I imagined while listening to albums and other songs he has on epic … I see it exactly has he’s describing it on stage - it all that comes directly from the music the music and story in it just automatically fits in our minds so clearly we can all see it live
I just love love LOVE how excited and proud and happy you are about your work. It's so rare to see an artist who isn't like "nono my work is shit i don't know why you like it nono it's bad"! Meanwhile, you look super into it and proud and it just makes me love it even more! You did great and you know it too😌
Something that would be a really cool feature in epic if it was a video game would be a bar in your stats measuring 'man or monster', or something along those lines. Like for every decision you make in game will put a point in either direction. Like choosing rude dialogue options or choosing to sacrifice some of your men will put points on the monster side, while preforming side tasks, kind dialogue, interacting with your crew more, will all put points on the 'Man' side. Maybe if you are too far one way or another, NPC's will react to you differently. Like Poseidon treats you with more respect, or Telemachus reacts to you with more fear. Idk, just an idea.
YES!!! i would so be there for a live production or movie but i REALLY want an animated film. The way you directed the animatics are so good and just the snippets that we have are amazing you just know a full length film would be truly epic. The scylla animatic is what introduced me to epic! Its all there already! You have the vocals and the direction! You just need the extra visuals! I can totally see this in the style of Blood of Zeus on netflix! Whens the kickstarter! Let's make it happen!! ALSO! An animated version will allow you to add the fun textual elements added to the animatics! Like i was so hype to see things like 'God Move: Break the Ocean' or "the little wolf, the warrior of the mind' telemachus" and especially"Final Boss: Odysseus". You might be able to get away with it in a live action movie but idk how youd do it on a stage show. Maybe a projector? A stage show would be super ambitious but im sure itll be amazing!!
personally, showcasing different colours in epic through an animated medium thrills me with how much those could link to different characters and settings, much how leitmotifs used for odysseus link in different songs.
I absolutely adore animation and with all the fan made animatics floating around it's pretty clear that this kind of story could fit really well in that medium. While I'd love to see a stage play version of this, tickets to musicals always end up being way too expensive though it would be nice to see your vision become a reality. A live action film would be really cool especially because of the use of practicle effects for monsters, alot of films nowadays don't rely on practicle effects nearly as much as they should.
I've already thought out some stage production ideas like during the clip of Monster that's been released, having the mentioned people come out, and do a motion that they freeze in (Polyphemus swinging his club, Circe extending a hand, a soldier pointing at a piece of paper as if helping construct an idea, and Poseidon doing...Poseidon things). I've also kind of thought it might be funny if like Polyphemus comes out in the Underworld snippet. 'Nothing's what it seems' and him holding the infant. I've also thought out how to 'blind' him if it's just one actor (having the eye on the forehead using drag makeup techniques to distract from the actual eye, having the prop have a removable, collapsible top).
I swear I'm am going to spend all my life savings to buy tickets/travel expenses for when this musical eventually comes out. I really hope I get the chance to see this project reach its full beautiful glory ❤
Listening to everything that's out right now, I definitely agree that animation would be the best option. That's how I've mainly envisioned it, because of how much it would be extremely difficult (and likely _very_ expensive) to do on stage, as well as the fact that more magical stuff & non-realistic things could be done really well in something animated. I've seen a bunch of animatics that play around with cool shots and effects that really work with and _add to_ the music. It's awesome, and I hope we'll end up with a full animated version in the future!
nothing and I mean NOTHING could defeat an animated version of EPIC like the way the scenes are happening and the scenery around those scenes, like Circe's island or Polyphemus' cave or Aolus' place.. all of them would look so beautiful animated and I just dont think a irl movie, live action film would be able to capture that beauty. also I might be biased cuz I've already seen so many great fan animatics, not just wolfy(love them tho!!) it would be absolutely INSANE to see each saga drawn by a different artists, the best would be our lovely and talented fandom. but it would also be amazing if it just got animated by a group of artists with the same style so the whole thing fits. a whole animated movie would be absolutely amazing and I will legit cry if it doesnt happen haha
I believe the amazing technological advancements made for James Cameron's Avatar films which seamlessly (well almost) blend CGI, live action, and VFX would work amazingly well for bringing this amazing story to the screen. Though I must admit prior to that it should be on stage as I am a musical purist at heart! For example, now that Wicked has had it's run on stage it is time for a full film adaptation.
I am in love with the idea of a cirque du soleil style production of Epic, I've already thought a ton about how I would portray everything on stage in a lot more detail than probably necessary 😜
The way you see animation as a medium is so magical, maybe is the bare minimum to recognize it as one (bc it is!) but i think people overlook all the wonders you can do in an animated film, as a theater kid and animation fan (and artist), i've always thought that animation and musicals are the perfect match after spending years watching animatics of different musicals made by fans, i'm looking forward to it and i hope to see some of the artists that already make those wonderful aimatics we have in a future EPIC adaptation❤
I always pictured Polyphemus as a massive puppet played by the ensemble. Like you can see its being moved by actors but its so impressive and scaery you dont care that you can see the man manually flipping the eyelid
I LOVE the way he’s excited about this, it’s awesome, he shares the same energy and excitement we have, which is something you don’t really see often I would love to see how you would do a tv series for epic, that would be awesome!
The amazing thing about Jorge is his ability to ride a roller coaster while playing chess. He is producing original content at the same time he is in post production on a new Saga. His vision is clear and he makes us want to ride the roller coaster with him. He will use all of his talents to make us feel, think, and see the incredible world he is conjuring. I'm on board for the long haul and hope to see his version of the story in any medium. Keep going my friend.
My favourite vision is an animation of a theatre pro-shot. Like, the medium is animation, but we're watching animated characters on an animated stage. Treating it like it's a real world stage production, except it's animated. That way you get the best of both worlds, and it would also be extremely unique.
Here's another option... Do all of them. But of course, I am kidding. Doing it in theater and pushing it to its highest limits, doing things we thought could never be done, would be pretty epic. On terms of animation, I agree with the "some scenes looks better when it's animated". Just look at the animatics, its already amazing even not with the highest of frames. But honestly, I'd take any option (even tho I'm broke and from overseas who wouldn't be able to see it live in theater anytime soon).
Absolutely think that animation would be the one of the best mediums for this. The suspension of disbelief would make it easier for the audience to accept the magical nature of the story as well as add spectacle.
If we end up with an EPIC that’s in any way like arcane, I will simply perish. I will cease to exist. I will be so incredibly excited that I will just vanish into the air with my own squeals of incredible glee.
Jorge: So, would you like EPIC The Musical to be made into an animated movie, live-action movie, or stage adaptation? Me, and my greek, Disney-raised, musical geek ass: YES! Whatever you say king Jimbo Bimbo, we follow! You have our love, our attention and our support! Keep it up strong!
i love all of three visual mediums for epic, theatre i feel makes the most sense because for ages i has kinda see epic sharing some aspects with Hamilton, mainly in the ensemble and the drawn out story of both but KA and O are incredible and it makes so much sense. PS if epic ever becomes a full on play (we pray) whoever plays Odysseus will might as well be a god with the amount of screen time and singing.
Whatever style @gigi animatics are feels just right. When it comes to Anime styles: Oh! My Goddess and the dynamics of Macross Plus + style of Mushishi in characters crossed over with Mononoke (not to confuse with Princess Mononoke). For more kicks: Kuchuu Buranko style of mixed media.
I would love to see it in any and or all three of these mediums!!! But I think if I could only choose one, an animated film would be my favorite 🥺 you have such incredible ideas and your songs already tell stories I can imagine in animated style (knowing the inspirations!!) and even when I first looked up the musical and saw the album covers I just saw a beautiful animated film 🥺 I think it would be absolutely magical paired with you and your amazing cast’s voices 🥺
Me and my friend have watched almost all your videos, and we love your music and creativity! Every time we hear you come out with a new video, we know how amazing and incredibly marveling you and your ideas are!!!! And I see EPIC as really being something colossal whether that may be a wonderful production or an animated film!! I also see EPIC as (if animated) being something uniquely pieces like Star Wars: Visions and maybe consisting of all these different styles and colours and techniques but being so beautiful as these specified things tell a story. Which I believe is your goal! An expressive story with the viewer being cast a journey of emotion and amazement!! Thank you for this!!! ❤
I agree the animation is the medium where it would be easiest to achieve the fantastical visuals this story calls for, while also keeping the strong connection to human emotions. Arcane is a wonderful example of a style that would work really well for this story, with the combination of very distinct color and lighting schemes for different worlds, the epic fight scenes, the blurring of lines between fantasy and reality, and the highly detailed character designs that allow for so much expression of emotion. While I'm a theatre person through and through, and can imagine some amazing ways to tell this story with puppetry and projections, those types of effects can often overshadow the human actors onstage, and part of what makes EPIC so outstanding is the moments of genuine human connection in the midst of the adventure. Animation allows the fantastic visuals of gigantic monsters and epic fights to be seamlessly combined with close-up intimate moments of humanity. (It's also way easier to achieve the kind of visuals this story needs through animation than through practical effects--not that it couldn't be done onstage or in a live-action film, it would just be incredibly difficult and costly.)
A full stage/screen adaptation of “Epic” is something I desperately need in my life! I guess the animatics will have to do for now. I think it would be very cool to see the Trojan horse or Scylla in a stage production
I always think of Polyphemus on stage as like a processional giant or like a Royal De Luxe puppet. Tangible, huge and hand-crafted (like you can see what he is made of, but he is too much of a marvelous creation for anyone to care that you can see his puppet-ness)
whenever i imagine epic being played out on stage, i almost always picture odysseus' main ship remaining stationary while set pieces of waves, gods, monsters, and islands are the objects that move. of course, for parts where odysseus himself is on land, that's when it shifts, but that's how i've imagined it before
I have had had a single thought about a stage adaptation of Epic. Hermes is wearing roller skates, possibly with wing designs, and almost never stays still.
I think the animation would be so neat! I hope it becomes an animated show so bad that would be so cool, especially the styles you mentioned omg I would eat that shit up
I think the medium that would do most justice to "Epic" would be an animated movie, I do think it would let you have more freedom to the design of the monsters and gods, and it would make it easyer to portray the gods as more "larger than life" characters (Note: I do realise that I've consumed ALOT of animatic for this to and that COULD absolutely be a factor in this)
Honestly i want all of them. I know it's not necessarily realistic but I would love to see different adaptations with different effects and visuals that work for each style.
I'm most excited to see it in theater form partly bcs you get to be there with all these other people that also fell in love with the musical or are abt to and I think it would be so awesome to mabey sing along with the others and just saying it all happen live on stage, I can't imagine the joy I'll feel. But honestly in any way you bring it out its still your musical so I'll be happy to see everything before after listening to the sings so mant times so I support you in ant form you want to brijg the musical out
The trick with O and Kà is that those are 2 of the I think 3 total Cirque du Soleil shows that don't tour, specifically because of their exceptionally elaborate stage mechanisms, so EPIC relying on them would also have to be stationary. Not that that has stopped either of those shows from being some of Cirque's best selling shows, and I seriously doubt EPIC would have any issue there either. Not to mention, all the shows I have seen have been the touring ones, which still reach truly mesmerizing levels of complexity.
I like to think of a stage production of epic as something that would mix theatrical mediums, especially in a more pratical "it wont have a billion dollar budget the first time" where we could play with projections and shadows for scenes including monsters, like the monster is projected on a screen so we can see a gorgeous animation, but the actors play in between the projector and its screen, making them shadows. The Odyssee also kinda happens in 4 different type of environment, the sea/beaches, forests, caves and a palace, by dividing the scene into four areas, that'd allow for more elaborate decors to remain on stage all the time, tho the most perfect type of stage would be one like the one in Shawinigan (qc), which is has a revolving audience and, thus, four or five different stages, including a part that revolves with the audience. As for the idea of each saga having a different colour palet in an animated movie, that couls totally be done with clever lighting on the stage!
Also, I think that a really cool form of Epic could be a graphic novel or comic that you could read AND listen to the songs at the SAME TIME. Would you have any interest in doing that, Jay?
I think any medium would look amazing because the soundtrack is so incredible! I will say films, animated or live action, see more easily assessable for people who may not be able to spend the money to see it on tour or on broadway... just a thought but keep doing you! This show will be great no matter what ❤️
I definitely want to see a live action movie, but I hadn't even thought of an animated one and I agree that could be totally sick!!! As long as the music is all the same and the voices are all the same though, that's really the most important to me.
I was watching the odyssey with my family and they mentioned they should make a remake of it because it’s so old. And since I’ve only been Listening to epic with them my mom said “Well they have a musical!” And if a movie of the musical ever comes out in theaters I am going to be convincing my parents to take me to the premier.
Honestly while a stage production would be cool and incorporating technology on a stage would be magnificent I think the endless potential of animation and the removal of limitations regarding visual expression would really capture the scale and scope of the songs and the story.

FOR REAL I constantly imagine how epic would look like on stage.. and I just think it'd be SOO COOL

I think the truly amazing thing is that Epic doesn’t even need to be adapted visually because Jay wrote it so cleverly- you can SEE everything that’s happening while listening to it.
This is true but actually seeing it would add a whole other layer. And I think an animated film would help it potentially reach the largest audience

I'm also imagining it in warrior of the mind. Like, when they start their conversation in the flashback, Athena could be set apart from Odysseus through a brighter-colored set of lights in her color. When he agrees to be her student, his lights could then grow brighter to mimic hers because he's now the student of a god, even if he isn't technically one himself. The reverse could happen in my goodbye
I'd so love to discuss staging techniques if you ever want to because that fascinates me and I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on it. I am absolutely not a designer so I've tried to stay away from the cyclops saga and things like it because I'm simply not qualified to be imagining them haha
But I've been mentally staging some scenes and I'd be really curious to hear your thoughts on them if you ever wanted to. On the server I'm Krizztine (:
Also I completely get if not, it's your show and I'm sure you're a busy guy, but I absolutely love discussing things like this and epic has been an excellent mental experiment for me as an aspiring director
Oh I just had the mental image of Odysseus's light dimming at the end of My Goodbye as Athena leaves and WOW that's a good idea
This all sounds so cool! I can’t wait for the live action and the animated show to come out I hope it goes on broadway.
So so so heavily there for an animated version. Specifically 2D. Like we've all seen WolfytheWitch's animatics on Epic and how amazing they are. It's just insane
The way I got SO EXCITED to hear him mention Arcane. Audibly gasped and rushed to the comments
EPIC and Jay keep getting more and more appealing to my little tism brain!
Like with the colours, locations, effects and choreography presenting more interestingly
I’ve been bingeing these videos and hearing about the process and musical Easter eggs that are included matches really well with animation
2:20 I have seen multiple EPIC the musical *animatics,* especially the ones from wolfywitch. They are shaping up to be very good so far.
Dionysus, god of theatre and wine, would 100% approve of your vision!
i love the epic animatics already, so an full animated thing i'd just have a breakdown of happyness
Oh having an animated adaptation of this would fill a gap in my soul
I need to see the winions for myself. Epic needs a theatre production, I really hope you can get something like that to happen one day
Personally I think that it should be a 3D animated show with 40 episodes and one song per episode.
I love both musicals and animation. It would be just amazing if EPIC got to be in animated form! I like your big ideas for a stage play too. I'm excited for whatever media EPIC becomes in the future.
I think EPIC would be awesome in an early 2000s hybrid animation style; like Sinbad, or Treasure Planet
That would be absolutely amazing with today's technology. I could see the gods being 3D to empathize their supernatural nature.
You did great and you know it too😌
I can fully see this as a gorgeous animation like the Prince of Egypt or treasure planet
I think a costume with tentacle/ mouth puppets for Scylla would be cool, like in Little Shop Of Horrors' Audry 2 plant
If each saga was given to a different animator and dialogue was fully written for the show, this could be an amazing animated musical
He's so excited for this and its contagious
THIS IN ARCANE STYLE WOULD BREAK THE INTERNET
YES!!! i would so be there for a live production or movie but i REALLY want an animated film.
As a mechanical designer, I think a stage production would be fun to build.
A style like the dragon prince would make it pop
I mean, you're already creating what is basically an audio drama, so... There goes my idea 😂
1:16
you know, i’ve always wondered: is there an actual monster under the water or is Charybdis just a sentient whirlpool?
I believe the amazing technological advancements made for James Cameron's Avatar films which seamlessly (well almost) blend CGI, live action, and VFX would work amazingly well for bringing this amazing story to the screen. Though I must admit prior to that it should be on stage as I am a musical purist at heart! For example, now that Wicked has had it's run on stage it is time for a full film adaptation.
wow I used amazing a lot in that comment
When this Musical comes out I will spend every single cent I have if I have to in order to see it because THATS how good this is.
I'm so EXCITED for this Musical, love all the full versions of songs so far! Polites, Athena, and Odysseus are my favorites characters so far.
I want a version I can watch/experience as I live on the other side of the world 😢
My favourite vision is an animation of a theatre pro-shot.
I really want to see these becoming real
I LOVE the idea of Epic in animation! Also love to see that you respect animation as an art form. Keep up the good work!!
I need this as a live action or animated film! I am so obsessed with this!!
This man is so passionate about his work and you can tell that he genuinely loves it. He must be protected at all costs 💖
Yeah... I could see it as a puppet show...
I think the animation would be so neat! I hope it becomes an animated show so bad that would be so cool, especially the styles you mentioned omg I would eat that shit up
I would love to see it as both a stage production and a movie (I don’t really have an opinion on whether it should be live action or animated.)
I think the medium that would do most justice to "Epic" would be an animated movie, I do think it would let you have more freedom to the design of the monsters and gods, and it would make it easyer to portray the gods as more "larger than life" characters (Note: I do realise that I've consumed ALOT of animatic for this to and that COULD absolutely be a factor in this)
Imagine Odysseus holding The baby and then turns and next to him is a 3d hologram of Penelope and Telemachus
Honestly i want all of them. I know it's not necessarily realistic but I would love to see different adaptations with different effects and visuals that work for each style.
I need! Need! Need! The next soundtrack your work’s awesome!!
Wow!! I love the vision you have for this show!!
As for the idea of each saga having a different colour palet in an animated movie, that couls totally be done with clever lighting on the stage!
all versions sound good, i would watch them all
Also, I think that a really cool form of Epic could be a graphic novel or comic that you could read AND listen to the songs at the SAME TIME.
I'd want to see the scenes with hermes on stage
EPIC animated would be so cool!! I already love seeing the animations people put out to the songs!
