These two have great chemistry. Israel asks questions any civilian would ask, at the right times. And Lars is the perfect blend of knowledgeable and easygoing. He loves guns and can frame things in simple terms without putting down the gameplay.
Gun nerd time: most revolvers are terrible suppressor hosts as they have a cylinder gap, and so gas leaks out there; generally more than what comes out the breech of a semi automatic, as Lars states. Only certain revolvers, like the Russian M1895 Nagant can be effectively suppressed (by use of special ammo where the cartridge case bridges the gap, creating a gas seal.)
@@szariq7338 I meant special in the sense that Nagant ammo is different from most conventional cartridges where the projectile sticks out the end of the cartridge.

Well, it depends on what you're trying to silence: if the goal is to not give away your exact position from the sound of the slide and the brass with a large calibre, a revolver is certainly better. If the goal is silence over power, a small sized caliber semi-auto is far better, simply because it's going to make less noise over-all, and it's not too hard to modify the semi-auto enough to be very quite.
@@bubbasbigblast8563 Regular revolvers can't be suppressed because of the cylinder gap would allow the gasses and the noises to escape, rendering it quite useless (and suppressors send most of the gasses back to you so, yeah), Nagant M1895 revolver is an exception to this because it uses a special design that allows the cylinder and the barrel to seal the gap perfectly
For real though. I'd love for them to react to and review Metro. As well go back to Tarkov for another episode and cover what's new. I'd also love for them to let them play around with Insurgency Sandstorm and make their own loadouts in game as well other games, rather just reacting.
Revolvers have a cylinder gap making a suppressor a little less useful. Also pillows don’t reduce or suppress sound much at all. Maybe a noticeable amount but not very noticeable.
Also shotguns don’t spread that much at that range so it’s not really possible for a two kill in one shot at that range especially with that length of barrel.

Took the cover off the gas tube, because the main character has a fetish for 2nd degree burns, and what looks like a barrel thread protector off of a Saiga-12. Could be generic, but that's the first thing it reminded me of. Standard AK thread protectors looked very different. The mags are custom made, def not stock standard (as far as I know). Almost looks like a Bulgarian 5.45 mag made out of steel, but chopped in half. The other mag looks like a Home Depo special. And I have no fucking clue what that fire-selector is. Almost looks like a Galil ACE selector, but not really. It's custom, and it's hideous. Also no reason to have 3-round burst over full auto anyway. There's probably more, but that's everything I've noticed.
Little correction there: Most revolvers are not able to be suppressed, because there is a gap between the cylinder and the barrel that prevents sound suppression. There actually are specialized revolvers for that, like the Nagant M1895.
Literally as a gamer I learn new things everyday from these videos. It also helps us show how much dedication went into making the games themselves and focusing the small details, and you can kinda compare the weapons to real life as well! Great job as always Gameology!
Pro tip: take everything the older dude says with not a grain, but multiple kilograms of salt. My man really said revolvers are the best suppressor hosts and never jam, and oil filters/pillows make good suppressors. These are examples of what lads call “fudd lore”.
12:59 "Dragon's Breath" is a type of incendiary rounds for shotguns, which are not as effective as most games show them to be, but they can set clothing on fire 😊 It seems game developers just like the awesomeness factor of the idea...
Zeroing a sight is harder than he explains it when you’re new. The first time I did it it took me like 20 shots, then I found out that I only had it perfected for about 15 yards 😓. Doing it can take a while if you don’t have any formal training, or a bit of ammo.
Revolvers DEFINITELY fucking jam lol. And when they jam they actually jam WORSE than a semi auto depending what on the kind of jam. If it’s a debris obstruction your entire cylinder could be stuck and you won’t be do any kind of field malfunction clearing, not unless you just have your entire armorer tools on you and all the time in the world.
Not to mention that your typical revolver can't suppressed even if you're using top tier high end suppressor because there's space between the cylinder and the barrel gas leaks out when it's fired that's mean the sound still be able to leak out unless those space was sealed
A good example of this is actually Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Snake runs into a man called Ocelot several times. He keeps making rookie mistakes with his guns and Snake keeps giving him advice on how to improve with his weapons. Pretty cool scenes they could break down. One of the things is guns jamming.
Not necessarily inaccurate information, just kinda cringy to see snake carve the grip to fit the handle of his knife there. No one does/ would do that. That's the only thing I remember abou the dialogue :(

@@chrismeyers5963 he tried to say revolvers are better then semiauto pistols for being supressed, you can't supress any revolver because of a cylinder gap, the only single mass produced exception is the nagant revolver from WW2, on top of that he kinda makes some stuff up like an 8 guage firing 3 and half pounds of projectiles per shot, also he talks about the Taurus judge being effective for snakes, and honestly it's really not even effective for that if you've ever tried to pattern a judge you'd know that, on top of that back to the semiauto pistols, he talks about back blast which can be a thing on simple blowback actions but the fact that he was saying that while talking about the berrata and the fact that he later goes into mention the Browning action type means he's really just repeating stuff he has heard, with any delayed blowback pistol the bullet is longgggg gone before the slide even starts to sperate from the breach of the chamber and thus they are much more effective then revolvers that even when machined tightly still have a cylinder gap thus meaning they are bassicaly an open design, and on top of that you actually loose some feet persecond because of this (see Paul harrels video) and also, revolvers are really any more accurate then any semiauto with a single action trigger, and actually if you just shoot a da revolver in double action you can be a lot less accurate if you don't know what your doing, that's why most people who carry 1911's love 1911's, even shitty and cheap 1911's have amazing single action triggers when compared to something like a Glock which is pretty spongy in comparison (and no a Glock is not technically a single action being as the trigger actually cocks the striker the rest of the way because the slide bassicaly only cocks the striker most of the way and that the internal safety of a Glock, even if the gun does take a fall and the striker is tripped it won't have enough force to set off a round)
@@chrismeyers5963 so no, the dude really doesn't know his stuff, I'm sure hes a good shot but mechanically he's Abit uneducated in how firearms work, and I freaking promise you he's never supressed a revolver or he would know that's really not possible with most revolvers, in conclusion he knows about some guns, probably owns a lot of guns, but likely doesn't do any real gunsmithing besides dropping in a drop in trigger on his ar15
@@foreststeel8842 Well, why don't you show us in a vid YOUR firearm expertise seeing as you poppin' off like you're such an expert lmao either that or sit the fuck down and be quiet my G yeah?
Well with most models, some revolver pushes the cylinder flush with the barrel and creates a tight seal as you put pressure on the trigger, thus dealing with that issue. So while it was a misstep to imply all revolvers can be suppressed effectively he's technically not completely incorrect.
@@Awoken_Remmuz But do you really think he knows that? I doubt he was thinking of a Nagant revolver and accidentally said all revolvers. Don’t think that’s what he meant. He means if there’s a misfire you just keep pulling the trigger if you actually need to use the gun. He’s not saying it’s safe and you don’t need to worry about it
@@gheetza14 Yeah he's saying if you misfire on a revolver it doesn't jam because the recoil doesn't operate the gun, whereas on a semi-automatic handgun a misfire requires you to rack the slide again to clear the jam. That being said, hang fires in a revolver can be catastrophic if they go off in the cylinder while not aligned with the barrel. Still, in combat I'm just gonna keep shooting and then immediately eject the hang fire when I reload.
It won't supress it fully but it would reduce the sound a bit, it would muffle the initial gunshot but you'd still have to worry about the bullet breaking the sound barrier, I don't think he meant you could substitute a pillow for a real suppressor.
When you were talking about the bottle suppressors, one thing the game did is actually animate the hole being blown in the end of the bottle with the first shot. If you angle the camera around to the front of the player, you can tell it doesn't have the hole until after that first shot.

11:37 in ye olden days, there was a shotgun called "the blunderbuss" the way it worked was you'd have paper and gunpowder, than load in a ball, then fire it, it had a massive barrel (like a trumpet) to help with the recoil I believe
I think you may be mistaken a little bit. They didn't fire a single ball or musket rather they were used more like a shotgun being loaded with pellets, metal scraps, what have you.
@Pig Mask I’m assuming the whole “1 inch per yard” thing is talking specifically about if the shotgun has a choke that’s about as tight as cylinder/skeet right?(maybe light modified?)
It’s a myth revolvers don’t jam. I’ve shot plenty of different revolvers and if any debris gets in the action, it can stop the cylinder form rotating and opening. I’ve had this happened with some revolvers during heavy shooting sessions. Especially small pieces of lead or copper from the ammo used.

He almost immediately walks it back after remembers how guns work. Oh, and the part where he thinks revolvers are easy to suppress. Despite the existence of that one revolver (the nagant) that _famous_ for its ability to be suppressed because of how hard it is to suppress them

@@Razor-gx2dq and even with a drawing crank (I don’t know what the fuck they’re called, I just know it’s a crank you turn to draw the crossbow), a crossbow with any real draw weight is still kinda shit tbh.
This dude’s flat wrong about silenced revolvers. The chamber doesn’t entirely seal so no they’re not more effectively silenced because a lot of the gas escapes before it even hits the silencer. Exception being the Nagant 1895 that does seal
Also the pillow can suppress the shots fact. And that revolvers don't jam. Yeah, he's not much of an expert honestly. But since GameSpot got Jonathat Ferguson, they gotta deal with their experts I guess.
It would be cool and interesting to see the weapon system from Escape From Tarkov. I mean in my opinion EFT is one of the best games that pays attention to detail when comes to weaponry.
The AK pattern rifle is a saiga import version of the rifle. Essentially the same gun but they change it enough to get by certain laws and dress it up as more of a hunting rifle. Same thing just usually with less in the mags and in more calibers like 223. Also revolvers don't suppress well if they gap to breach isn't sealed somehow. Semi autos suppress better in most cases.
Idk if anybody pointed this out but the gun guy missed something. He said it was interesting that the player cocked the hammer back, assuming the games mechanics function an semi auto pistol like a revolver and then stating that cocking the hammer with a semi auto is not necessary. If you pay attention closely, the player was timing his shots and knew more or less that a real semi auto gun can fire the first round faster if the hammer is cocked. Watch as the player tries to hit two infected as they run passed hall.
When talking about the suppressor they should probably add that using a oil filter as a suppressor is illegal unless it is registered with the ATF through a form 1 before it is made into or used as a suppressor Also cant suppress or kinda pointless to try with most revolvers because there isn't a seal between the cylinder and the barrel making gas blow out the sides making noise
For suppressors to be effective on revolvers, the revolver needs to have a gas sealed system (no cylinder gap) like an M1895 Nagant. The significant drawback being the loading procedure on that revolver due to that system being in place as well as other things regarding trigger pull etc.
@@鍵17 yup thats exactly why i said most revolvers I knew that was the main one but there have also been very few modified revolvers to get that seal. Just didnt want people to think they could just get any revolver get it threaded and suppress it.
The thing about shotguns is first timers dont realize the "Kick" it has. I love watching people shoot sawed off shotguns one handed for the first time when I go shooting. Most of the time they damn near break their wrist everytime unless its a big buff dude who is actually anticipating then it looks no problem but other than that one handing it is for movies.
It's possible, but very hard so most of them aren't suppressible. The nagant was made with the idea of being suppressed in mind, you couldn't just put a suppressor on a revolver and It work.
Any firearm expert knows damn well there’s only 2 or 3 revolvers that could effectively use a suppressor because of the gap between the barrel and cylinder on a standard design.
6:56 as long as the revolver’s chamber is sealed (like the gas seal on the nagant M1895), you can suppress it. if there is no seal, like on most revolvers, it ends up like holding a pillow over one of the two speakers in a stereo system.
Warning!!! 6:10 It is illegal to manufacture a suppressor without the appropriate form 1 tax stamp from the BATFE! Do not commit a felony by making a suppressor without approval from the BATFE! I figured I had to say something because they’re just so cavalier about this. I don’t want somebody to think that they can just do this. You can do it, but only with the paperwork!!!
"I'd wanna see the feeding tube go to the end of the barrel, because then you have 3 more rounds without any real added weight" fucking ridiculous. Extra steel, and then 3 more rounds WILL be noticeable weight. Not saying it's bad to have a long feeding tube, but he's blatantly wrong
For the bolt action I own the same model it's the same to the sights and wood work on the gun. On the gun in game it says it's a model 401. But the real gun looks like a model 700 and before you upgrade the mag it has an 3+1 internal magazine. Lovely gun the one I have was my grandfather's and was very happy to see it in this game.
I mean not really just basic gun stuff. The Ak (semi auto rifle) is not accurate as it has a rpk receiver but it’s a semiauto, with low capacity mag. So the rpk receiver is pointless.

Dude, you're forgetting the finger -amputating cylinder gap, they aren't sealed systems barring a few specific models like the 1895 Nagant

Or else the feds will break down your door and shoot your dog.
What revolver outside of the nagant seals the breach and is capable of functionally using a suppressor what is this dude on
I wasn't aware that you could suppress revolvers other than the nagant
It's possible, but very hard so most of them aren't suppressible. The nagant was made with the idea of being suppressed in mind, you couldn't just put a suppressor on a revolver and It work.
This is so interesting, makes me wanna know more about gun for some reason. Not that I'm gonna use it, I don't even have a heart to kill a bug XD
Why are they not talking about Abby's guns. Her hulk ass Kratos arms.
They did when talking about the hunter pistol
Any firearm expert knows damn well there’s only 2 or 3 revolvers that could effectively use a suppressor because of the gap between the barrel and cylinder on a standard design.
Shout out to everyone at Naughty Dog besides the narrative department
?
Do any kind of expert reaction on Days Gone PLSS. I really like playing it on PC.
6:56 as long as the revolver’s chamber is sealed (like the gas seal on the nagant M1895), you can suppress it. if there is no seal, like on most revolvers, it ends up like holding a pillow over one of the two speakers in a stereo system.
Oil filters are actually used in days gone aswell for suppression
"sometimes the zombies aren’t the worst thing out there"
They should definitely take a look at escape from tarkov
Thank youu
One impressive things about TLoU2 I found was the gun customization
The big girl Abby, actually is very well trained in fighting and gun work. :)
Suppressor on a revolver is useless unless the cylinder closes the cylinder to barrel gap. I know a Webley has this feature.
The last of us has turned me into a gun nut. The love and attention to details to the weapons in the game are insane!
COD MW does a much better job (even Hitman Bloodmoney)

I mean not really just basic gun stuff. The Ak (semi auto rifle) is not accurate as it has a rpk receiver but it’s a semiauto, with low capacity mag. So the rpk receiver is pointless.
Nice pfp
