5:00 Joel's backstory is that he's a carpenter. Pre-pandemic he worked as a construction worker with his brother who dreamt of starting their own business together. In Part 2, we see that he provides an essential service to his community as a craftsman who made furniture, statues and also as a luthier making and refurbishing guitars and violins. It also seems he knew how to work leather and stone.
Love the scene where you just get to go through his house. Adds so much to his character that we never had a chance to see in the previous game. Thats not just any bolt action rifle, that is a .300 Win Mag, or a .308 winchester, and the shotgun is based of the Remmi 870 Express. And the break down double G is based off a place in the game, but the gun is based off a 12G over under sportsman shotgun.
That rifle can be multiple different calibers, 30-06, .270 WIN, 7MM-08, etc. The furniture leads me to believe it's based off a Remington 700 or possibly a Winchester model 70 due to the bolt. As far as the over and under shotgun it can be numerous different brands of break action shotguns, Browning, CZ, Beretta, Benelli, etc. The Remington 870 can be a few different variants, the Express, Wingmaster, Super Magnum, etc.

To me it looks more like like a Steyr M9 (ie the OTHER striker fired Austrian pistol lol) but with some visual changes to obfuscate its exact model origins.
@@emulation2369 Huge fan of both, The Last of Us had much more realistic ballistics, RD2 was cool with the whole neck shot thing and shotguns deleting body parts, but it still doesn't even compare to TLOU
@Kevins Chili Tarkov, Arma 3 Ace 3, RoN, a lot of games are entirely designed around having a realistic ballistics and damage system. The Last of Us has hella good animations and enemy reaction, but the gun damage system is pretty average.
That pistol at 1:41 looks like a Browning Hi-Power to me, or some variation. And the Military Pistol at 11:32 looks like a mash-up of a few different pistols most likely- SIG P320, Steyr M9-A1, and general Glocky-ness. Same deal with the O/U shotgun at 13:48- It's like a Baikal and Winchester 101 had a baby. Idk what's up with the "G" though.
11:05 The development-team said that they got criticism/stupid comments about the modification-animations being "unrealistic". Well..the mods they show do what they claim they do, but they obviously had to simplify the processes a bit for the game. They mention the first workbench being "to mod your guns", so that just applies to all the benches you find. They also simplified the sourcing of parts to symbolic boxes with gears, and each gun-mod costs a certain amount. You don't find a silencer for caliber XY or so, since that would make the game too complex and take away choices.
Never played either of them also. I'm finally going to get to play the first when it releases on PC at the end of the month and hopefully the sequel in the future as well.
I would love to see a reaction to the weapons from the Valkyria Chronicles series, their guns ranged from being based off of real world weapons to weirder ones like the anti tank lances, the Federation's guns, for example, are based off of British and American guns, the Gallian guns are based off of German guns like the Gewehr 43, the Imperial guns are based off of German and French guns like the STG, the MP40 or the French MAS rifle, or they could get a tank expert to react to tanks from the games, like the Edelweiss, the Hafen, the Nameless tank, or even batshit insane tanks like the imperial Batomys siege tank or the Marmota land dreadnought Edit: Oh and I neglect to mention, in the 4th game there's a Ranger in your squad who is a 16 year old girl and there’s an encyclopedia in each game that has informations on every weapon, vehicle in each respective entry
