- As an electric car manufactured in Vietnam, Vinfast VF 8 launched has been well received and used by experts and many consumers. However, there have been errors arising on this model that cause many annoyances such as: sometimes the car has an engine failure, is moving, it is forced to stop, the turn signal and headlights automatically turn off, software errors, "virtual alarm" errors... and the most common errors are 12V battery charging errors, BEV motion system errors. Many users also reflected that since receiving the handover of the car, they have had to call the company's rescue many times. Although after updating the new software, there are still some bugs that have not been fixed.
Although Tom is very fond of the Vietnamese car company VinFast and the VinFast VF8 is one of the favorite cars that Tom often drives every day, but these errors appear more and more, causing inconvenience and loss of time for Tom. Facts I’d want to KO this Vietnamese Caillou
It took Elon Musk 10 years with several thousands cars tested all over the world to be able to sell to the market! How much testing has Vinfast done? Testing is very important in extreme hot or cold conditions- this car is only work in VN with slow traffic, how can these cars survive in US? Even with so much testing, Tesla still upgrade the SW almost every month if not week! Good lucks!

Technician unpluged the battery in order to restart the software or soft reset.

If the tow truck drive just disconnected and reconnected the battery to fix the problems without recharge battery, then it is not the battery problem, it's possibly the software problem.

Normally, most of electric cars now and day are using Linux as a base to write embedded software, and once device or system is frozen or stuck then the only way out is recycling the power to reset the whole thing. If the car does not have button to turn off and on power to reset then you are screwed. Other thing, if you'd write your own software and test it for a long period prior to production or after you should have learned all problems beforehand.
Linux is too generic to be suitable for controlling real time systems. They must have used some RTOS, sort of Neutrino, LynxOS, FreeRTOS ...
Agree RTOS is used for auto to monitor the surrounding and react to situation, this os is more secure and less likely to crash or fail, however for none critical embedded systems Linux still is used for electric car, that was a reason sometime software crashes and in stuck mode.

Vinfast #VFS IPO’ed Aug. 2023, at 22 dollars and a few days later got as high as 93 dollars, But even with the low float it’s been dropping even since it is now at 5.06 These EV companies have to try to operate in the red for so many years (Telsa 17 years before they became profitable). I don’t think any of them have the capital to keep absorbing losses for 17 years.

Your attitude is excellent, the car seems as if it is not a quality product. Salty language is funny to me, but also not too cool, your English skills are excellent, and you can choose better words. The company is planning to go public, and I would expect it to be a turkey, (turkeys can't fly!) If this company expects to sell cars in the USA, it better get a handle on quality control, as consumers here will not put up with paying a premium price for an underperforming item. Concept of a subscription with a monthly charge for the battery, that has me scratching my head as to how many will want to add that into the cost of operation and makes little sense to me. I follow Aptera closely, and am anticipating a high-end product, at reasonable price. They have Sandy Monro guiding them in the quest to make a great product.

I was seriously looking into buying this but after seeing other reviews from random people, I can't buy this. I feel like being in Vietnam for so long they never addressed the issues this car had and let their own people deal with it, but now that they are in the USA where we buy cars with almost flawless issues, everyone see these cars are huge headaches.
I'm just going to buy a Volvo electric.

Oh God.. VinFast VF8 died right on the road! Tech support person speaks clumsy English but no one understand what she’s talking about and the 2nd Vietnamese tech just help to solve problems with a tower truck. Hahaha.

It's the same problems that plagued early efforts from Korea, Japan and Eastern Europe. At least most of those were cheap!

@@HuyNguyen-hw1yx Tow truck driver's job is to tow the car to the repair shop by customer's request, from that the repair shop can scan the vehicle's computer for trouble codes. Fixing like this tow truck driver did is not acceptable, What happens if the car broke again, customer has to wait for another hours or so, You think it's OK?
