Top reason for me is first version by a no name company. Not hating on anyone, just a lot of money and high risks. Maybe I will purchase when they come out with second generation.
1) Startup sequence: it looks like it's a software issue. If the software remembers an owner's previous settings then the startup time will be much quicker. If your car's software version is 8.7.8 then it will remember all the settings except drive mode. ruclips.net/video/PeYl8hVyMn4/видео.html 2) Software and hardware: agreed 3) Range: VF8 actual range is about 210 to 220 miles which is better than EPA number but still not as good as other cars. I've heard Vinfast is working with CATL to address the issue. Remember VF6 is a bit heavier than most EVs which also contributes to the issue. 4) Driving quality: driving experience is more than just shock absorption. It includes acceleration and speed, handling and steering, braking, ride comfort, noise and vibration, safety features and interior features. You just pick one and ignore the rest which might be irrelevant to other users because the road in their countries is better than in Vietnam. 5) Agreed. Let's hope that they will do it better in the next version of VF8 and other models such as VF9, VF6 and especially VF7
Going with I'm wondering if CATL? I wonder if it is not too late? I also wonder if they didn't go to fast. They didn't check the competition? The cars looks beautiful, but the range... I can't even imagine it during winter, it will be ridiculous. The problem is, you don't have a second chance to do a first impression. If Vinfast continues improving their products and Vietnamse consumers keep supporting them, Vietnam will have an auto industry within 20 years. Every other country in Asia has to go through the same process and Vietnam is not an exception.

Tom, let me humbly add one more point (which is very important to North American buyers of EVs), which is ease of charging on the go. I don't think VinFast will have its own supercharging network anytime soon, nor do its cars have one of the fastest charging speeds. And, many people drive over 50 miles per days in USA for work and errands. I have colleagues who drive from Sacramento to Palo Alto to work everyday, 4 to 5 days a week.
visited dealership yesterday and they told me that the range for VF8 is 470km (295 miles), at startup you only need your phone loaded with the VINfast App to get it started, plus there is a facial recognition camera in the steering wheel column which will automatically apply your personal seat and mirror settings. I think this is a brand new car company, and there are still many bugs and continuous improvements to be made, and those should roll out with the over the air updates. I am considering getting one........but still trying to absorb all the info i can.

I wonder if the VinFast being built in Chatham County, NC will be built better. I received an email from VinFast today 7/9/23 when i asked about their lease payments and if colors are extra. Color is extra for deep ocean $990 and warranty on battery is 10 yrs/unlimited miles. They said they have VF8 plus, VF8 eco, VF8 city. Range are different on all three. Lease payment is $479 a month with $4,679 down. With all the problems you are having over there and not sure if they will here, since being built in U.S.

6:29 250 km per full charge ?! That is 155 miles. So EPA initial assessment of 170 miles is already generous to Vinfast.😀
