With thin bezels and good build quality, Lenovo has heavily improved their Legion laptop this year. It's less expensive than the Legion Y570 but retains the performance. This is the cheapest gaming laptop I've seen with thin bezels like this. Configurable with a GTX 1050 Ti and 8th gen Intel processors, performance is very respectable for current titles.

You are from the ones making huge impact with your reviews. The manufacturers are watching this! Lenovo responded to the lack of the more powerful NVIDIA GTX 1060 GPU option despite as you mentioned "The Chassis can handle it and the thermals are good enough"... And they added it later on.

I bought this laptop a month ago. It is AMAZING. Crossed shopped with MSI GS65 and GS63. Tried them all and ended up keeping this one. Made a sacrifice on video card specs, lowered graphics in SOME game (still look great, run at 60fps) but I got a more sturdy, well built laptop than MSI. No creaks, no flex, sturdy chassis, no worries. Also love the thin bezel screen that only $2000+ laptops have. No issues at all with heat, and the fans are quiter than the GS63 I tried. The best part is, I paid $1200 for this laptop for the SSD + 1TB HDD AND a 2 year on-site next day warranty with accidental protection. Peace of mind and all. Very, very pleased with this budget, entry level gaming laptop.

@mylonelyweekend hey man. could you elaborate a little more on the battery issue people are having? It's not about battery length off the charger right? With the laptop plugged in, no problems whatsoever. When un-plugged, like most gaming laptops, the performance gets throttled and battery last maybe 3-4 hours max realistically. I am out of school now so this is OK but maybe something to consider? Let me know if you have any more questions about the laptop
mylonelyweekend Or maybe I misunderstood. Do some users have an issue with the laptop saying its not charging when it's plugged in? If this is it - I messed around with some Lenovo battery settings and one of them is something like "Conservation mode" keeps the battery around 50% charge to help prolong life of battery. I turned it off and it charged to 100% just fine

to anyone who considers buying this laptop ı have to say it's an amazing machine and the battery life holds up to 7-8 hours if you use the battey saver mode (your max brightness is lowered by %20 and 1050 Ti is not working at all you basically use it with an ıntel 630 (works as main gpu in macbook pro)) (i coded and watched netflix at the time)
Could you explain how to disable 1050Ti to get the battery life. A bit of a noob here😅
@@DharminShah09 when it's not charging and you press the battery icon just choose the best battery life and it does the rest automatically (you can try playing games after doing that I get roughly 7-8 fps when not plugged to the wall in a game that I normally get 90-95 fps on average)
@@Liittlebrother I am not sure since windows is installed on the ssd but I don't think it would be any different than any other computer with both ssd and hdd but I still don't know the answer, you probably can upgrade the ssd and you definitely can upgrade the hdd to ssd
@@Liittlebrother I did a bit of research, there are 2 slots one of them is a 2.5" slot that holds the hdd you can upgrade it to both ssd or a bigger hdd and then there is a NVMe slot that holds the ssd which is smaller in size and can only be upgraded to a ssd(since there is not a hdd that small) but since it's gonna be smaller the ssd will cost more

Look at the acer helios 300 which is a good option as well, better screen (140hz) and gtx 1060, for 150ish more
Not gonna lie i really like the style of the Lenovo. If it had a thunderbolt 3 port i'd already bought it but without it it feels really.....cheap.

is the keyboard backlit through the keycaps? i mean, can u see the letters in total darkness? i use black themes on all my software (chrome, IDE, video player, document editor, etc) so without backlight, i have to rely on the screen's white to see the letters...

@@pranavjain298 none at all I did uninstall a shit town of apps they preinstalled cause it made my computer slow but after the speed is amazing and uploading to RUclips is now quick and easy the quality of it is pretty awesome I would recommend it 😁

@@pranavjain298 I didn't get it for gaming but I use it for long hours at at time and it's been just fine for for me if that's the case tho I would recommend get those lap buddies that have fans installed in the to keep your computer cooled. Anything over the course over a long period gets heated my windows laptop gets pretty hot after 6 hours

In my opinion, if there is a gt1060 with that design (weight and thickness), the price had to be higher because they hat to change some materials for better thermals.
Man after a year of using this thing. I could not be happier. I have three screens running on this thing [laptop, 21:9 (3440x1440)@100hz, (1080p)], and it handles it like a champ. As a programmer and someone who really uses a lot of resources... this thing is amazing. Some mods I made is that I added a 500 nvme and 500 gb ssd with 16gbs of ram in total. The i7 and 1050ti really can handle any load I throw at it and it is nice that I don't have to close any programs. For example, I can run my Virtual Machine (6 gbs dedicated and 4cores) and android studio and no hiccup. Granted the fans can be a bit loud, but nothing that distracts me. I wish there was fan control that instead of fans kicking in every once and a while I can have something that is more continuous but tolerable.

@@cinemetv9168 Yes. I would just opt for the more beefer video card like a 1060, or better. However, I would consider waiting because AMD is releasing their new laptop CPUs soon that are suppose to be insane performance. Couple that with a video and you are good
I own this laptop, but with the 16 gb and 1050ti, and all i have to say is that the laptop is fantastic. The keyboard is above expectations for a membrane keyboard, but the disappointment is that it does not support thunderbolt 3. But im still quite happy with it. It really does not stand out in a crowd because of the subtle aesthetics.

The fans are not loud, unless you are gaming, then the fans accelerate.
What about battery life???
Sachin Kafle 4-5 hrs of battery life, depending on what you do on the computer; gaming on it will reduce your battery life down to one hour, so it is not ideal for one day of work on the computer; so you basically have to take your charger with you

Lenovo laptops are cheap because they have terrible build quality and will break super fast super easily with no effort put. Can say this from experience, not once.
Dave, got this laptop for my wife a year ago and it's still a great gaming laptop for the types of games she plays (mostly older final fantasy titles and their respective HD remakes, as well as the Fable series)

I used the machine for two weeks and returned it. I was quite put off by the keyboard, personal preference, and it wasn't thin enough for me take it into meetings, plus battery life was poor. This machine is alright for entry level gaming, which I do not indulge in, and specs for price are great. My needs were more for business ,and this was not a good fit.

The screen looks cool, but i can't ignore that *BIG BOTTOM CHIN* .Its like they removed the bezel from 3 sides and they put on the bottom.

The bottom chin is actually helpful for ergonomics on a laptop. It may not "look" as nice, but it's easier on your neck.

It's super laggy on my laptop after any update or if I never update it for certain time... Kinda regret buying this but it kidda fix by it self after 2 weeks but comes back again when there's a update

All of those plastic snaps he was on about sound identical to mine, plastic snaps on one side. Guess what's all broken on mine. Heck shitty screw mounts breaking on ThinkPads is a common thing. Everything with the interior shots look bloody similar to mine in almost every way. Just cus it looks different on the outside doesn't make a company drop how they make stuff you bonobo

Hi i have been using the most basic version of this product. It is quite an impressive machine for its price. The screen is actually as bright as other Lenovo laptops but it doesn't appear bright because the screen is matte. Lenovo needs to bump up the brightness a little bit.
Also, this is more of a content creation laptop than a gaming one. Works great with premiere pro, Photoshop, Keyshot (3D rendering software) and ofc all other 3D softwares.
The screen can also give you a headache at times. I just use to on night mode all the time. Its helps with reducing the blue light.

Got this laptop about 6 months ago from best buy for $650. Had a 1050ti, 1tb 7200rpm hdd, and 8gb ram with an 8th gen i7. Upgraded to Samsung nvmd ssd and added another 8 GB of ram for $200. Great laptop
Still using this laptop. Intel optane caused the original HDD to fail but i replaced it with a Samsung SSD 870. Best decision and wish i would have done it earlier. Optane also supports it so everything works seamlesslely. Defintely one of the best investments ive made. 5 years going strong.

I actually got this Laptop and it runs cooler than the Macbook bro I use from work. The fan blower input is from the bottom, so you can always add a cheap laptop cooler and it'll work even better.

The reason I got the Lenovo laptop is because I've been using the Thinkpad at work for years and the build quality is great. I feel the same about this one too. Very underrated laptop and it needs more exposure! As the reviewers mentioned that the color accuracy is not perfect but if you're not into visual editing, it doesn't matter. Movies look great and I love the thin bezel. MSI has an IPS level display and this has an IPS display. They keyboard too is great but its from edge to edge so you can't hold the laptop there while picking it up. Heating issues are the same as ANY other laptop with this specs and since it has an opening in the bottom for the two fans, yes, cooling fans can help. I don't want to do any testing for it but I'm sure the heat is expected and in limits. What I love is the number of connectivity options and most of them being in the back! Both of them are great laptops. I chose this because of their history making solid laptops and I don't like the red colors or RGB. I want a silent killer and this looks like one :)

I have this laptop and those who want to buy it (especially if you are a gamer) don’t waste your money.. because when run a game the battery is start draining while it’s plugged in power.
A LOT of laptops do that too, including the all-AMD Asus TUFs and Acers (from Reddit and forum threads).
The only real solution for this is to update the BIOS and get a 180W adapter.

Feb19, just bought this with a 512 nvme, Gtx 1060 6Gb and bigger 57 whr battery for $999usd! Straight off Lenovo webSite. Picked up another 8Gb of micron 2666 ram for $40 on ebay.
Cancelled the order because they couldn't ship for 2 weeks. Bought a new y7000 on ebay instead. Little better battery, 50 nits brighter panel and little better cooling apparently. Love it and plays VR better than my Asus with 6700 and gtx 1070
@j Wong - as i said little better battery and screen and different body styling. What i don't like about the y7000 tho is the lack of intake fans on the side, so if its on your lap on the couch it struggles to breathe, y530 has side vents

I bought this laptop in December 16, 2018. I loved it for a month but then my fps started to drop rapidly. It overheated in a short period of gaming. I am disappointed in lenovo. I decided to overclock my cpu and gpu and now it is better but not how it was when I first got the laptop
Edit: My fps is much better now since I overclocked my cpu and gpu but it still overheats

I love this laptop and I have had it for quite some time now. I added an Samsung NVME and god is it great for school and programming. Apart from the GPU I cannot find what this computer cannot do that my desktop. I have considered getting rid of my Desktop all together but the 1080 is nice :)

is the keyboard backlit through the keycaps? i mean, can u see the letters in total darkness? i use black themes on all my software (chrome, IDE, video player, document editor, etc) so without backlight, i have to rely on the screen's white to see the letters...
lenovo recently launched this laptop with gtx 1060. so plz make a video about it. about its thermal performance and comparision with others. because this laptop seems really nice and i5 gtx 1060 model is available for around 900 usd.
Yepp, and the 1060 model is offered with the 144Hz screen, which should go up to 300 nits. Has anyone found a review, checking if that one really delivers 300 nits?

This design + 1060 + 144/120hz screen + i7 = best combination for laptop
I have this with a Gtx 1060 6gb, i5 8300H, 144hz screen, 128gb ssd + 1Tb harddrive and I can say that it´s a pretty good one. 10/10 recommend it!

Vasiliy Dubinin Er. Bro. It's the same thing. Same design just different specs. Meaning he reviewed the i5 version and the one ur speaking is the i7 version. They come with the same build and design.

Hi! How's your unit? I was planning to buy this but read there's a battery issue whether it's charging or not? Can you give an update please?
I've never had an issue with it overheating. Even when playing games on high settings and getting 60 FPS there was no overheating. The fans were on and audible but nothing too bad.

Seems like great value for the money though, design aesthetics are pretty usual, and it seems sturdier than the Dell G series since it's reinforced with steel. Not to mention the thin bezel display. That's what really got my attention.

I'm about to get one of these this week, can't wait to play on this! I usually play older games like Left4dead2 and TeamFortress2, but ima have no problem running them with this laptop.
