    The T is for 911 drivers who care more about the daily driving experience than showing other car guys that they can afford the more expensive versions.

    I really like Nick's reviews. I like the honesty and well-reasoned opinions. A lot of other car reviewers on RUclips (who depend on staying in the good graces of the manufacturers) are way too positive in their reviews, and do nothing but drool over horsepower and torque. And wow, it hadn't even occurred to me that Porsche is actually selling 911s that don't have a LSD. That totally defeats the purpose, turns the car into a fair weather, straight line accelerator, and is really unbecoming a brand like Porsche.

    • @retrograde11
      @retrograde11 Год назад +6

      Agreed! Porsche offering their premier base sports car without LSD is absolute attrocity. Come on!

    Hi Nick , completely agree with your opinion . I have to repair my 911 in my garage with parts shipped from Europe and the US . My 997.1 has now 16 years and is 100% working, a wonder with our bad roads here in Central America. I want to see all these driving computers in 16 years when all the electronic is falling apart and none of the gimmicks is working any longer . Error codes everywhere , I can actually see it with the Porsche Cayenne GTS from my neighbour (a nightmare!). Keep it simple and always safe travels. Best Porsche channel ever. Kind regards from Panama.

    I'm obviously late to this discussion, but I had no idea this detail until you mentioned it. The fact that a brand new 911 costs $120-150K+ doesn't come with an LSD is pretty insane. I'm sure there's an argument that you don't need one, sure. But come on, for borderline supercar's worth of money you'd think they'd include it.

    Spot on review. I own a 981 Boxster Spyder which I have car-swapped with my friends with various other modern Porsche models.
    The Carrera T is easily my favorite 911 and the one I’d buy if I wanted a 911.
    Modern cars have gotten too fast to enjoy on real roads. Although the Carrera T is still perhaps too fast to safely explore the limits, it’s generally just right for an occasional burst of spirited driving and the short-throw shifter is a huge part of the experience.

    Fully agree Carrera T is a great car. Had a 991 T for 2 years and then upgraded to 991 GT3 Touring. Completely different car, much more raw but still it is my daily car. If I would not drive a GT3 then I would take a T again, definitely. I would spec it with manual gearbox like the GT3. I also agree that high power models like turbo s with pdk takes away a lot of the fun as you get to maximum allowed speed on the road way to fast. Carrera T is plenty of fun, sound and comfort.

    Nick, I was just at the Porsche Center Experience in Atlanta and drove the Turbo S and the Carrera S manual, these are my observations. Even if I had the money, I would not buy the Turbo S, it is crazy fast, too fast for the road. It has so much power, you cannot enjoy the car. It's like riding a lion, you're not sure when it will throw you off and eat you for lunch. As for the Carera S, the power was perfect, I was actually able to pull away from someone behind me (we were on a track) in the Turbo S because the S is so easy to drive fast, and so tossable in the corners. That being said, I did not care for the manual, my opinion is based on growing up in the UK (where you have to pass your driving test on a manual in order to be licensed to drive a manual) and having driven manual for the past 30 years. I know some will disagree, but I now prefer the PDK. As for the manual, first, the pedals are set off to the right, your left leg does not line up with the clutch pedal. Even my instructor noted that the clutch pedal hurts her ankle after an hour of driving because of its mis-alignment. Perhaps someone can enlighten us as to why Porsche has done this? Second, the clutch pedal travel is very long, the bite point is very short, making smooth and rapid shifts, especially on a track, a tedious process. Third, I found the gear shift to be notchy, and a long throw, too long. I did however, enjoy the rev matching, which makes you look like a pro. I am hoping to make a 911 my next car, waiting for the 992.2. Thanks as always, for your excellent review of the T. Any chance you might review the Dakar?

    Nick,
    Thanks for this video. I am ordering a Carrera T on Tuesday and was wondering about :
    1.) Carmine Red vd Guards Red. - The Carmine seems deeper but maybe dull? Guards Red seems brighter but too bright?
    2.) Is the Aerokit with the fixed back wing a good idea? Or is the standard back wind deflector adequate for downforce in most driving?
    3.) Is a leather interior a good idea and also with extended leather on the dash and door panels?
    I wanted a 992 GTS or S but the dealer only will allocate this T allocation to me. So I appreciate your thoughts on this.

      I don't think in the US you can even option the regular glass back in , unlike the 991.2 T. I was thinking the same thing. Supposedly it has a rear defogger but I wonder how it works without any heating coils in the glass.

      One reason why it would be great to be able to get all the T-only goodies on the base (c'mon Porsche). That and the lowering. I may be in the minority on this but, unless you're tracking it, for daily'ing and our (US) increasingly crappy roads the 911 doesn't (does it?) need to be any lower than it already is! I did not hear that you could opt out of that either.

    Nick, you forgot to mention the available rear wheel steering.
    I have ordered one the day it was announced got it in spring and I am enjoying it everyday! Was trying to luck myself in a GT3 without the extra adm, but after driving the T for almost three months, I don’t regret my choice.
    The painted interior is almost a must (it’s a free option for the T, I have it too), otherwise you get the smudge_fingerprints magnet piano black one. Yucks.

    Fantastic review Nick - thanks! Been viewing your channel for years. Agree with you completely that the T is the sweet spot of the range and am close to pulling the trigger. Question for you - with the reduced sound deadening on the T, how is the road noise inside the car vs. say the S? I'm going to have my almost 3 yr old in the back during weekend joy rides, and just double checking on making the right choice. Thanks again!

    If you're going to spec a light color you need to spec the $3,240 Sport Design Front Fascia.
    Hopefully they allow you to opt out of the $640 Front Spoiler Lip in Exterior Color.
    The 911 Dakar wheels would be nice as well - if the offset allows them to be adapted.

    Nick, you mentioned a different gear ratio on the manual optioned T but I have never heard this. When the Porsche released the information about the 992 T, they mentioned a light weight battery, shorter shifter along with the other stuff you mentioned but I’ve never heard anything about a different gear ratio. I did hear that the T has a slightly different tune from the factory but maybe the person saying that felt a gear ratio change compared to the base? My T will be delivered in Jan24 so I have no car to compare the T with.

    • @NickMurray
      @NickMurray  Год назад +1

      There is no different tune to the engine is is 100% the same as the base engine. In the manual transmission there are slightly lower ratios to the S model MT.
