This video gives the updates for the 2021 Model year Porsche 911 992 and continues the full option descriptions.
Purchasing a Porsche 911 can be a daunting task with over 200 configurable options. This video I take a look at every option to help you avoid purchasing unnecessay expensive options. I also do a little bit of trolling just because.

It’s unbelievable how valuable this video is to me especially after speccing a 911 earlier today. Thumbs up!
Alpha_Beta congrats. I got a 992 S last month and totally love it. Traded my a Macan S as you do
How long the car will take to get to you according to your dealer??
share with us your specs....
@@shelloiluk congrats how much of a difference getting form the sportiest SUV to an actual sports car?
Gana21 big difference. I have the car already it was a 11 month old 992S. Chrono, glass sunroof , Bose, GT heated wheel, rear wheel steering, sports exhaust, power side mirrors. Rear parking camera, carrera classic wheels.
People showing up to complain about this is like calling the number on an advertisement to tell them how much you don't want their product. Move on. This is a helpful video!
This is for a self-selecting audience... they must have clicked the wrong link ;)
DU NDER I BRALLAN!!,
I'm pretty sure I'm going to order mine with exterior mirrors wrapped in leather.
and sport exhaust in exterior colour too
it's a must have
LOL, my ‘87 had the period correct aftermarket leather/vinyl rear view mirror bra!
PUNDARE!!M
SMURF!!😩🤓🐽
I have a leather wrapped hood. Its cool
Can't wait for the trilogy to finish so I can get the Bluray box set! One to hand down to the grandkids one day for sure.
I feel for those poor grandkids already

Sounds like the perfect guy to go drinking with.
oh yes he does.
I know right lmao, got me sitting here for an hour and a half looking at options for a car I'm never gonna buy
TURKJÄVEL!!!
POUDER!!🐽🤓😤
Thank you so much, Nick! You have saved me a ton of money. I didn't even understand what half the options were all about let alone whether they were worth it. This is the most useful video I've seen on RUclips in forever. Really, really appreciate all the work you've put into this.
Never clicked on a video so fast! Thanks for keeping us entertained during these times Nick!
Thanks Nick! Best 90 minutes! I specked and pre-ordered my 2022 last Saturday using much of the advice you provided. Delivery is January 2022. Carmine Red Targa 4.
I actually spent 80 minutes on car specs that I cant afford 🤣
Hi, Nick. I’m a mid 50s car freak that has run the gamut of exotics and hyper luxury vehicles...but have never owned a Porsche. I’ve recently decided to go full mid-life crisis and have just ordered a ‘21 4S. Your options videos were immeasurably helpful in navigating the daunting list of options that Porsche provides. Thank you for the info, and I hope you puppy fully recovers from the raccoon “incident”.
Nick, i wonder if the trim gaps around the gear selector are there because they use the same shaped/sized piece for the leather covered trim, as a cost-cutting exercise. They would wrap the leather (and maybe cushion it a little) right around the piece of trim, so would need a tolerance for that. My guess is it's not on the wood for possible shrinkage (assuming it's actual wood), and someone has just programmed the CNC which they're cut on to allow an extra 1 - 3mm around it, which is annoying because they could do that on all non-leather covered trim, and have a seperate smaller piece for the upholstered version.
I do not care what others say about you on e mail, you are still the most entertaining and juvenile man on U Tube.
Nick,
Thanks so much. We’ve assessing our options in optioning out a new 911/992 and honestly working through the list, e.g. what is a must have, what is a nice to have and what is a can-do-without is overwhelming. Your blow-by-blow of each selection choice helps tremendously. Once we get to the buying stage we’ll certainly reach out to you and your contact at the Porsche dealer you referenced. Thanks again for a very informative video, it really helped reduce the stress level.
Side note on the steering wheels. The diameter AND the rim are the same on both.. Except the GT wheel has larger thumb protrusions.
Though I love the bigger bolsters on the GT wheel, I had to pass on it.
For one reason and one reason only... you can SEE the gauge cluster a lot better. The GT wheel BLOCKS a lot more of the outside gauges.
I agree with you on the Burmester vs Bose comparison. I had a 991 C2S that I purchased new and then several years later purchased a several years newer 991 4S and you are right ....in every way I could measure the BOSE was superior than the Burmester
After watching this video for multiple years, I'm finally joining the club. I got a GTS 4 Cabrio on order with delivery date of 8/16. Thanks for making these types of videos, as they've been very helpful in choosing my options!
I personally think your taste is Spot on!!
jetski Dex I agree!
jetski Dex , Crawler!!
just glad to see a youtuber being old enough to actually laugh at haters instead of pretending to not care.
Nick,
This is the best Porsche video along with part one that I have ever seen you save so much time for people in the dealership. This is a must see part one and two for any Porsche enthusiast. Thank you so much for your detailed work and professionalism. It was outstanding, informative, entertaining , and just downright fantastic.
Respectfully,
Jimmy USAF 🇺🇸
Hey nick as I currently build my 911 I find this video very very helpful although I understand these are your opinions, however for someone who has never owned a 911 this information is paramount particularly that the order can add up so quickly. I really appreciate you taking the time to do this video...👍🏾👊🏾
I never bought that nick is only “slightly” below average
ZidaneHenryFrance “well”?
SNORTA EN LIA KOKAIN!!!
Love the rear wiper, and I'm in the US.. If in the northern states, where it may snow, I can't figure out why you wouldn't get the wiper.
I like it too but without the washer fluid squirter it's going to leave streaks and smudges more often then perfectly clean rear glass.
Watching this video like I could actually afford to spec a 911 lol
I usually spec one every month or so. Just in case the lottery fairy smiles upon me.
DYNG@A!?!!
The 992 is super competent, fast, reliable, good looking, doesn't depreciate a lot (compared to more exotic cars), is comfortable, etc. But why wouldn't you get a used DB11 V8 for the same money?
I like that your gorilla is staying protected! Sorry, William.
Am i the only one who has seen all Nick´s videos several times?? We need more material Nick!!! Behave like a famous RUclipsr please!
You know quarantine is getting incredibly boring when you watch the options overview videos for fun
Thanks Nic - I am just heading in tomorrow to finalize my order for Targa GTS - super helpful
Thanks for this. Been battling the 911 Configurator for a few weeks and this video has been SO helpful. I'm also less upset now about never owning a Miami Blue. Thanks so much! Funny and informative.
When I was at an auto show at the Porsche stand a spokesman was doing exactly this, explaining all the options to a guy while he was sitting in the Taycan they had there. Had to wait for almost half an hour until he was finally done and freed up the car 😅
Give that spokesman a beer
I must say if one can understand that Nick doesn’t know you and is not trying to insult you personally, one can gather some rather useful insights from him!🧐
Good job and thanks 🙏.
A word about the lane assist, adaptive cruise, and light package (headlights that steer and automatic high beam assist): all these are on my 2019 Subaru Outback, and I have them all turned off, except the headlights that turn with your wheel....those are actually useful. The rest is, IMHO, just nannying that some people really need and can appreciate. Especially people who consider driving a hassle that doesn’t warrant your full attention. However, I would hope 911 drivers actually like to stay engaged, instead of being in a constant state of vegetation at the wheel.
I specked my 997.1 with the rear wiper here in UK. From 930-993 its such a classic feature & doesn't look right without it.
Just bought a 2022 Carrera Cabriolet with less than 2,000 miles on it. Two year old car with less than 1,000 miles/yr. Strange to me. Anyhow, I drove it about 25 miles from the dealer and had a flat! The tire pressure indicator on the display worked. Good feature! I let the salesman talk me into the tire and wheel warranty thank goodness. Dealer came through very well. Harper Porsche in Knoxville, TN.
Hey Nick heres an idea for a new T-shirt slogan "My hatch wipes its own rear" Sure, please post one to me when they in your store :)
I clicked the thumbs up at the mention of listening to Billy Idol loud. Only you could make the Porsche money-grab configurator so entertaining. Aloha from Maui.
Hi Nick. Here's why someone gets the steel sunroof -- I have a glare issue and glass sun roofs can interfere with my vision of the road depending on conditions. I like to open sun roof and not use A/C on nice cool days with strong sun in Nor Cal. I have a 996 c4s with a steel sun roof and love having it in steel. I hated the glass roof on my later 911 models. Also have a panamera with glass roof and light interior and strong sun will send glare through sun shade on very sunny days. Plus I assume -- don't know this -- steel will provide better rigidity for track days over glass (note have had my 996 for 20 years and did track once 10 years ago!). So -- one 911 enthusiast who loves the steel option!
Nick...although this is two years old, I found this video (and Part 1 as well) to be absolutely invaluable in cutting through the BS on options. As an example, just by going back to the configurator and de-selecting the premium package (as there were items in it I didn't care about), and the sports package (I didn't want the car lowered 10 mm), and then selecting the items I wanted individually, and also killing the front lift option, as well as a few others, I quickly "saved" $3-4K in "options bloat". I feel that I now have a "tight" spec that is prefect for me...except I can't decide between the base and the S (I don't track, I don't drag race other people at stoplights, I won't be taking it up to 191 mph [let alone the 181 mph top speed of the base] and I am not certain .5 sec in acceleration performance is worth ~$18K in additional cost...)!
Classic music at the beginning... wonderful 💪
What is it called?

SNABEL OST!!!
I find your reviews interesting as I know how much work it is to go through a porsche options list. All the help you can get the better.
His chuckle always makes me chuckle
Been waiting on this. Maybe one day I’ll need this info. Then again, probably not.
like to see a video on aftermarket upgrades to the standard sound system.
I also didn’t opt for 18-ways because of the crap plastic back. 14-ways are leather and they really felt the same sitting in them back-to-back. They felt sporty and comfortable.
I'm loving the videos explaining the options you're referring to.
Awsome review. After the first 45 mins I thought I can't stop now so watched the second aswell, Kinda hoping for a part 3 if I'm honest. Dream car one day. ✌️👍
finally my 992 GTS Targa will be available to configure sooner than later.. your videos are quite helpful.. Thank you. I am totally in for the manual transmission.
Very helpful as ever. I took a lot of notice of Nick’s video on the Macan, when I spec’d mine last year. It’s very easy to make a mistake, specifying your Porsche, particularly as they rarely have test cars with your combination of wheels, suspension, etc at the Official Porsche Centres. Keep up the good work, thanks Nick!
23:29 - best advise ever given out - red car with yellow seat belts make it look like McDonalds! I'm loving it!
Totally blew through that stop sign Nick!!
Jehad Mahmoud Porsche drivers are exempt
TJACKPUNDARE!!!
This two part VLOG is fucking brilliant. Period.
These 2 video's really helped me today when finally ordering my 911this afternoon...It kept me from making some important mistakes...Very helpful!
Afterwards my son and I went to dinner, when we came out and ironically there was a brand new 911 Turbo S with an Aero Kit and an very old 180 SX with a huge Aero fin retrofitted on the trunk back, both parked perfectly next to each other in the position of honor! I thought of you and I took a good pic...
Dang it it reminded me, I forgot to order that Aero Kit Plus?!
...Next time!
Thanks again!
Haha, the perfect compliment to study when ordering a 911.
I'd LOVE to see you do this for the new 911 T. 😊
Cheers, Eric
These reviews were REALLY helpful! I’ve got a 2010 Panamera 4s (which I LOVE) and am planning on ordering a 2021 Panamera Turbo S Executive when it becomes available.
I realize the options aren’t exactly the same as for the 911, but many are and this is a huge purchase with many decisions to be made.
Thanks SO MUCH for a SUPER DOPE video!
Nick seems like an entirely likeable guy, thanks for the advice!
Hi Nick, thanks for such a brilliant video. I've been a AMG owner for a number of years here in New Zealand and you get very little options to choose from as they spec them highly. Considering a 911 but totally in awe of the options list. I went through the configurator side by side with your video...the dollars you've trimmed off will save me a fortune. I am somewhat confused that Vent seats in the US are US$850 vs NZ$2,260...someone has clearly had some fun with the exchange rates there. All the best.
Hi Nick, great video. I just go used to the blinking thing in the dining room, now why is the stove blinking.
mickeydonofrio he's a person of interest, being monitored by NSA
mickeydonofrio thought the exact same thing 😂
That is the wine fridge.
LOL....a Wine Fridge!!!....nice try of deflection, Agent Murray. So who are U truly with NSA/CIA?? It was the fake accent, that gave U away. We've been watching U , as the subscription numbers show. 😆🤣😎👍
My Macan didn’t come with comfort feature. Shoot me in the head. After having it, not having it makes me crazy. Grab the handle .. nothing. Never again.
I'm with you; cant own another car without it... want to test your tolerance for living without it, rent a car and see how much it bothers you to not have it.... its a must have!
@@drone_video9849 its a must have! I agree ;
Thank you Nick. As always super informative and fun at the same time.
Thanks Nick ... always informative & entertaining.
Aventurine green with white leather 18-way seats and wood trim works for me. Still drive BMW since 90s.
Nick, love your videos! Can u make a video about independent porsche service centers in the Northeast pls. Also a video about what to look for with second hand 911s. Thank you.
I concur with your assessment, preferences and selection options, however I will order with my tires wrapped in leather!
thanks to you i changed my spec on my new 911 922 gts to remove the interior colour bars and go for leather and silver as you suggested - my porsche dealer was surprised to hear the fit was poor on the coloured bits and that they looked cheap but couldn't show me any to convince me otherwise so i decided to trust you., i hope i like it. i am sure i will.
Proud owner of the Red interior and yellow belt club! Everyone loves it! seriously... and when you think about it, it's the Ferrari color scheme too.. but yeah, I get how it's not for everyone... What I hate the most is the yellow belts dirty up easily.. need to find a way to clean them.
LED Matrix is amazing. The 84 individual leds will black out other cars while the rest of the horizon is lit up. It's like having the high beams on at all times, but the beam is blacked out just where other cars are, it's brilliant.
Night VIsion Assist is not a gimmick. You're not ment to keep staring at the cluster screen, but when you arrive at dark areas where you're uncertain if there may be people you can glance down and very quickly see if there is someone there. I say very quickly as the car automatically identifies people and animals and put a yellow square around them. If the person or animal has a trajectory where the car thinks it might hit it (typically animals running towards the highway you're on) it will put a red square around it and warn you audibly as well.
Now where it gets really clever is if you have Led Matrix and Night VIsion Assist. If something is detected to be on a collision course with the car it will direct beams of lights at the person or animal and FLASH it with bright lights to try and make it change direction.
If you want good advice from a slightly below average person then Nick Murray is the Best
I agree with Nick. I like the rear wiper. I drove a ton of GTI, etc and liked them. My 996 C4s does not have it.
Thanks Nick, appreciate the time to make this
It's about time, Nick, been waiting for Part 2 for a while now 😂😂
I would love to play vs. Dropped Baby sometime!
Excellent review! I did use your input back when I configured my 2019 991, no regrets only happiness. This said I find the 992 wood interior belongs in a Panamera just like the Burmeister!
33:40 I’ve always thought you seemed like the kind of guy that liked a bit of wood in his interior 😏
claaassy
Your "opinions" are saving a Porsche newbie like me A LOT of money, so THANK YOU!!!
Great! Finally, I will be able to afford the used 4 cylinder Miami blue Cayman of my dreams!
Thanks Nick. That was indeed a solid 5/10. Nonetheless, you helped me configure mine and I’m genuinely grateful and that’s coming from someone who lives in the West Island. 🇦🇺
Rear wiper? What is behind you does not matter!
Thanks for the video Nick!
Really good detailed review Nick. Would have loved to see this back in December 2018 when I specced my 992. Far less option choice back then!
Nick, we love you....we just enjoy picking on you.... from time to time....
"Turning headlights like an old Citroen" Funny we have to wait until 2020 to get another car with them...and that is the "old Citroen's" least impressive feature......
TRUTH SEEKER , did they really work?
lots of cars have had cornering headlights for a long time...
I think every single VW has that option for the bixenon headlights since 2005.
This was a feature found on the very forward-thinking Tucker automobiles. Never had it but if it saves one life of a person walking on the side of the road at night I think it is worth it.
@@LowsJuan They do work quite well..the DS ones turned and self levelled as well...they were controlled by piano wire and rubber dampers.
Most annoying option for me? Colored wheel center caps. Yeah, they're less than $200 on a 911 S but damn, the Porsche logo is color. I live in Atlanta and Porsche Cars North America HQ is there. I got Porsche Experience Center Delivery and whenever I saw a logo at HQ it was color. I had to pay extra for it. Is Porsche the only company that actually charges customers for a logo in color? Maybe I'm wrong and the logo is not necessarily color.....
They should bring back Gulf Blue.
With the orange stripe! Matches my Tag Monaco
Thanks Nick, great video. Just so you know Porsche Kendal in the UK is offering an approved used Carrera 992 4S Cabriolet in Miami Blue, for £116,995. A real bargain for an already classic colour that looks just great in the middle of winter in the Yorkshire Dales!
Always enjoy Nicks youtube shows. I am surprised Miami blue is gone. Porsche option list is sooo long...
I like how you drooled excessively when talking about how you like a thick steering wheel.
I don't know how I made it through that video. But you wrote at the end that the universe would reward me for it so I feel better now.
Eric Taylor any second now...
SNBELKÄZE!!!
Fab - thanks Nick - very useful - no painted interior for me!
I previously wanted to buy the new Porsche 911 but after watching this video... I ordered Aston Martin Superleggera
Brilliant video. Just finalized my Carrera S spec and this helped immensely!
Just can’t at the right time .. I was confused with all options .. thank u soooo much
Much appreciate the practical and sometimes non-pc hilarity!
Nick, thank you, thank you, thank you. I was drowning in the Carrera S configuration swamp and you threw me a life line. My final configuration does, of course, differ from yours, but I have avoided many pitfalls thanks to you. If you like I’ll email it to you.
Super helpful! Thank you so much. Although, I TOTALLY disagree about the under door puddle lights.
Awesome watch as always, cheers Nick, keep well
Hi Nick,
Thank you for these videos. Very helpful. However, I still have questions regarding the headlights. I'm a Kiwi in the UK, so the expensive Matrix options are relevant here. And I find Porsche's explanations rather confusing.
I basically understand about the Citroen-style 'swivelling' beams when turning and the added brightness, etc.
The two very expensive Matrix options seem to be camera-based, with the only apparent difference between them being the colour of the outer and inner bezels (silver vs black)...with all the lesser options being black, if I'm not mistaken.
Anyway, I previously thought the camera was required to detect on-coming traffic in order to perform auto-dimming of the high-beam. But, having re-read the description of PDLS Plus, I see it says it includes "high beam assistant". So, now I'm a bit more confused.
All I want is the auto-dimming of the high-beam function. I don't want blinding levels of light, or the technology of a light show, which is what I'm now left thinking is what you are basically getting for the extra 1300-1900 GBP with the Matrix options.
The Citroen-style 'swivelling' beams is a nice ferature, but I'm not sure I'd want to pay that much for it if it's not standard. And I assume the standard lights are more than good as far as brightness and projection.
So, PDLS Plus includes the Citroen-style 'swivelling' beams, and added brightness and projection...
Does the "high beam assistant" actually perform the auto-dimming of the high-beam that I'm wanting, or do I need to upgrade to a Matrix option for that?
Thanks again. All the best. Your clarification would be much appreciated!
I won't be configuring a 992 ever, unfortunately, but I watched all 42 minutes of it and this was a very interesting video! I can see how it could be a Bible to the ones ordering the 992 . 👍🏻
Save up for a 998!
William is finally getting some Covid-19 protection !!!
Nick love your videos and your opinionated guides on Porsche 911-992 options.
watched part 1 and 2 twice now before finalizing my spec. Chatted with dealer and will submit spec sheet in Sping2021! No point in getting it now while we are asked to work from home. Can't wait..omg.
If you ever (sadly!) pop your clogs early you should def go for a racing green casket with alcantara lining and interior mood lighting!!! Otherwise another great video!! 👍
Great detail as always, love your humour
