This video saved me. I have a 991 and was going to trade in for a 992 (C2S). I was preparing to order in early 2021, held off for a while bc of the massive delays, then over the past few months I was thinking "well looks like delays aren't going anywhere, might as well get my order in." But I had NOT considered, after so much time had gone by during pandemic, that it was getting close to 992.2 availability such that - as you suggested - I should just wait another year for the .2.
You continue putting out the most practical Porsche advice on RUclips, and this video in particular may have saved me from making a decision I would regret. Thanks!

    Hi Nick,
I have been following your channel for ages now. I can’t believe you have been that patient with Porsche. You have a great attitude towards this. Real easy going!
I just took receipt of my new 911 992. I had to wait 18 months. First it was 12 months then got pushed back.i got it in aventurine green with dual colour interior and red stitching. Other aesthetics including ambient lighting, and the Porsche logo when opening the door in the dark (which I know you don’t like that) Also the privacy glass with too.
I got the chrono package, the nanotechnology exhausts lol which I also know you aren’t that keen on, PDK, BOSE sound system an apron on the front., PDLS, Plus some other options like additional stuff like leather on the wheel as and some of the extra power steering stalk plus some other options I can’t recall as of now.
I wish I could send you a photo of it. See what you think of it. might not be your cup of tea but it ticks all my boxes.
Thanks for all,the great content. It’s been really useful for me! Have a great 2024!
I’d love to get your impressions on my new 911S. Do you know how I can share some photos?

Nick, you're spot on. As the owner of many Tesla models I don't go looking at a Porsche for acceleration numbers. If people are talking about 400 vs 500 vs 600, just stop. The Plaid S will still smoke whatever you just paid $300k for. You buy a Porsche for the Porsche driving experience, not to run 0-60 in 2.2. I'm finally coming around to your concept of "400hp is enough", because chasing it in an NA or Turbo was fun, right up until I bought Tesla's. You can already get that warp speed for $60k (M3P) so why chase? Buy that, then buy a car for the experience and you have both.

At the same time you're an enthusiast ... we're animals who need to be reminded of the cage we live in I guess. Taking delivery of a 2024 T in the next month or so. Spec'd it mildly. Looking forward to this base version with a few chassis upgrades. I'm sure you've seen IGM now in person, and probably agree it's quite different than Silver. I consider it a PTS alternative without the price - it's a modern, dynamic color looking white, cool grey, and light blue all at once depending on the environmental situation. Keep then coming!

I think you might be onto something with the paint to sample, would make the car much rarer and probably better for resale. The S model is £102, 800 in the UK, the paint to sample another £6228 or £8k for your own colour choice, raising to £10,500 for GT cars. Thanks again great content as always.

One more thing: The reason why Nick's reviews are so much better is because this is not his full time job. Many other reviewers do youtube as their job, and thus depend on being in the good graces of the manufacturers for continued access to their cars. That explains why so many reviewers who put out entertaining content are, at the end of the day, just fanboys and advertisers, not really independent reviewers. Joe Achilles for example makes fun videos that I enjoy watching, but they are little more than BMW and Porsche fanboyism. TLDR: Nick, keep it up!

Can’t agree more on the Turbo. I owned one with a bunch of aftermarket parts and tuned. It does 0-60 in 2.7sec. It was blazing fast, for a week…then I have to constantly looking for cops on the freeway and it wasn’t a whole lot better than a Carrera S on the track (yes, I did track days with it). I couldn’t be happier to have sold it and got a ‘95 993. Car is slower than a Camry but it was fun and more head turning than the Turbo. No regret.

You couldn't be more wrong on this one and you'll see as soon as you touch one of these new ones :) the PCCBs had a much welcome upgrade the PDCC is a part of why these new models are so great. I'm smiling while writing this because I'd fully agree with you if you were talking about the 991 (.1 and .2) cars, but couldn't have missed even more while talking about the new car, it is truly revolutionary for the Turbo ethos. In April, my dealer notified me that Porsche unknown to them dropped the Premium Plus and the ventilated rear seats to only the Premium package. So, we reordered the Cayenne now as a 2023 Platinum edition with all my options for delivery in mid-August. Per my dealer, the vehicle is in 250 code and appears Porsche hasn’t deleted any options. Hopefully, the Cayenne will arrive as ordered. Crossing my fingers. We are trading in our 2018 Macan S as we require more space for grandchildren and car seats.

Respect your opinions, but will differ on buying a last year model. I bought a late production 991.2 C4S (Florida rain) just a few months before the line was shut down for 992 retooling. Wanted to keep the analog gauges and no piano black surfaces. Figured by this time 991.2 bugs were squashed. So far, so good, 3+ years/20k miles and one hiccup, the rear lid struts failed. No rattles, and engine seems smoother with the miles. To your point, I won't buy 1st year production new or significantly revamped models due to bugs. Keep up the good work, always happy to tune in.

I drove my buddy’s 991.2 turbo and when I merged onto the freeway I was nearly up to triple digits at not even half throttle! Super fast but I’m worried I would lose my license in short order. Even with my modest 981 Boxster S tuned to 360hp I can’t come close to exploiting the full performance of the car and I don’t have access to a track so I’ll stick to NA cars! But the turbos are wonderful cars, for sure. 👍🏻

waiting for the 2024 model sounds straightforward - but realistically - at this stage with their current production schedule being 1/2ved - the 24' model will be delivered in 26........... no joke !

Great job as always! I think the PTS is the best approach for color options. The viper green is my favorite. It would be cool to see the S vs GTS comparison video. Thanks for the good content!

You had me agreeing with most of your points right up until you said get the Plaid over ANY Porsche. That thing Tesla is a one trick Pony with build quality issues I'd expect to see on an 80's GM/Ford/Chrysler product. Nope, no way, I know too many people with issues with Tesla's, the company, things just falling off, to pick any of them over the quality of a Porsche...nope. Now, bring on the 911 Turbo S with a manual!

Nice update! My IT boss is quitting and you'd be a perfect replacement. You'd get less pay, more bureaucracy and generally more headaches. But on the flipside you'd be working with me! Just send me your resume and I'll get you in.

Really enjoy your videos Nick, and have done so for years. Just placed my order for a 992.2 in Aventurine Green with tan and b&w hounds tooth interior, having driven Porsches only since 2009. Keep it up!
    Mark.
PS. Get Gorillas in your shop! I’d buy one … along with a … “Gorillas do it in the back seat” t-shirt.

I like the big wing on the GT3. I don't understand the love for the touring package that makes the car look like an ordinary 911.

I ordered a 992.1 Carrera S that will be delivered in September. I probably have one of the last 992.1 manual transmission to be built. I totally disagree with buying the last year of a model year. Especially since the manual transmission will be much harder (in not impossible) to get in the future.

About 3 months into a 5 month wait for a '22 Macan S I received an email from Porsche. It said, your Macan S will not have a power adjustable steering column. We're giving you a $500 credit. There was not going to be a negotiation. Take the deal or cancel the order. Some day consumers will have the negotiating leverage again. Edit- to echo Nick's claim, I did get a little bit of a discount on the Macan S (even before the power adjustable steering column situation).
