You say G body was the first production 911, that is objectively incorrect. The G series was debuted as a 1974 model and considered a complete re-design of the 1963-1973 Porsche 911. Also, while most people consider the G series to be 1974 - 1989, that is also not the case. Factually the 1973-1974 built cars were the G series cars, Technically speaking the 1975 911 was the H series, the 1976 was the J series....etc.
The thing is no young person is gonna be interested in buying those early SWB cars for example because there’s way better stuff you can get for the money, impact bumper cars however are still somewhat attainable if that’s what you really like.
I bought a 1991 964 Carrera 4 back in 1994 and more recently purchased a 1996 Carrera in 2020. Both amazing cars but the 993 is a step change with that multi-link rear suspension upgrade. I've also had a couple of 944s (Lux and an S2), 3 Boxsters and a couple of 928s (S4 and a GTS) . Loved them all but my overall favourite is the Iris blue 993! Even my wife thinks it's 'OK'. Happy wife, happy life. Keep up the good work guys, cheers from a rather cold Otford, Kent, UK.
Owning a 911 is my childhood dream. But having the chance to drive every generation of the 911? That's definitely the best dream ever! The only thing close enough I can do to experience the 911 is by driving it in Gran Turismo and other games that has 911s in it 😂 Just wanna share my dream 911 gotta be the 930 Turbo in black, with 3-piece BBS LM wheels 🤤
964 and 993 were the peak of Porsche 911. Hand built cars that still had the spirit of the original. Anything after that was completely different car. Best looking is the 993 (narrowly). The fat rear is just perfect. 964 front looks amazing too. Too bad they're so expensive now.
The 964 was the last of the hand assembled cars. With the 993 Porsche cut the hours to build it by something like 90%. That’s why the 964 was crazy expensive in 1989 (same base price as the 2002).
@@JoJoJoker That is simply not true. 993 was built in the exact same manner as 964. Only when 996 came they got a new production line in which Toyota assisted them. It's all in Google why don't you do a little research.
@@detonator2112 this info comes from several different books (and Nathan Merz's 964 model guide on RUclips). Toyota began consulting on the 993 when Wendelin Wiedeking became CEO in 1993. While the 993 did have some hand assembly it was less than the 964. . Parts were assembled off-site by suppliers and installed by Porsche (the Targa roof for example). That's why Porsche was able to reduce the price of the 993 by $5,000 from the 964. May be splitting hairs here. I've got a 1989 C4 and 2002 C2...964 feels so solid compared to the 996.
@@JoJoJoker My best friend has a 964 C4 and 993 C2. There is ZERO difference in the interior feel, doors, buttons... everything feels exactly the same. The new production line came when the car completely changed to the Boxter/996 water cooled car. That was a HUGE change. That car has nothing to do with 964/993. Nothing. How do I know? I own a 996 4S.
@@detonator2112 the 993 introduced some of the robotics and outsourced manufacturing which went into full effect on the 996. Porsche reduced the level of hand assembly on the 993. What’s cool about the 964 is how the appearance is, essentially, unchanged from the original 911 except for the bumpers/hood. Imagine if the 1989 C4 Corvette was exactly the same as the 1963 C2 Split Window Stingray!
