I drove this very basic 992 Carrera. I also drove on the same day a fairly loaded new 992 GTS which was almost £40k more but I struggled to identify the extra £40k’s worth of extra cost simply because the basic Carrera is so good on its own. Ok I know the engine is more powerful on the GTS but did I really need or use it……no so the basic entry car is so so good on its own.

Nice review. It’s great to see PGB speccing (or not speccing!) a base car like that, shows proper confidence in their brand. Reality is most people wouldn’t notice the rear wheel steer etc etc “most” of the time. We can all get carried away with the options and the latest product. I recently drove a GTS and an S - couldn’t really see much difference in performance and the S rode so much better I felt I could carry more speed. Nice work Joel! 👍
I love mine, Night Blue over Mojave w/RS Spyder wheels, slick roof, rear wiper, PSE, Sport Chrono, & Paldao Wood trim. Just had it tuned by APR, almost a different car.
Very true! And the overwhelming majority of drivers will not even scratch the surface of performance in a base 911 on public roads, much less a 640hp Turbo or a 500hp GT3.
had 2 Macans and a 911 is the ultimate goal...2 weeks ago traded my beloved M2 for a low miles base 991.2 descently loaded with Chrono/ PSE damn!! all smile in every miles lol
a lot about a Porsche is what you don't feel, and by that I mean it takes away all the things that annoy you and then you are left with the steering feel - a feel that is missing from so many other cars
I'm looking to get a Cayman as an autoroute car for long trips to my place in France. I have a very comfortable car, which chews the miles up and carries all my gear, but I like the idea of doing a longer trip in something a little more engaging. I honestly don't think I'd get the most out of a 911, and I imagine operating costs are prohibitive to consider it a one car, daily driver, but after you review I'm kind of tempted!
Nice video, currently a 911 doesn’t make sense for me financially. But fortunately I live in North Wales, own a Cayman and retired early. Which is a great life combination in my mind 😀
911 is an icon, if you must scratch the itch you should. In my time I’ve enjoyed 5. Now have a 718 GTS 4.0 Boxster. IMO Porsche’s best convertible sports car for daily & Yorkshire B roads. N/A engine (unavailable in a 911 unless it’s a track focused GT or ‘gulp’ inducing prices), sound, size, balance, rotation, emotion, real buttons in a timeless design. Snap one up while you can, it’s destined to be a classic 😊
I bought a used 992 carrera S with 2000 mikes on the clock, the first owner choose the manual 7 speed which shaves 35 Kg vs pdk and adds sport chrono, Racetex steering wheel, rear cam plus front park sensor, pasm sport, pse, aluminium sunroof , sport plus seat, black painted wheels, metallic paint, that’s it no electric folfing glass, lift, glass sunroof, rear wheel steering , 18 adjustable seats, ventilés or heated seats all these options are associated with hydraulic engine and at the end it ends some extra weight that you really save. , mine is undeff rdv 1500 kg dry which is one of the lightest out of an S/T. The driving joy despite the opf is still ok, main quality ixx de that you can feel ghat all had been developed at a very best level anc finally the all packages is so good in terms of dynamic, ergonomic , traction. A T could also be ok but in my country the crazy tax on ci2 made it impossible to purchase without paying almost as much gas a Turbo of 2020.
The issue with any new Porsche is the arrogance from the dealerships, they’re absolutely infuriating and it’s a cultural issue, tiered down from the top. You can’t simply go an buy a new Porsche, oh no, they decide if you’re worthy, then make you wait, hike up the price a couple of times to wring out a bit more money, they’ve got it sewn up for sure. Absolutely beautiful cars, I’ve had 2 in the last 2 years, both haven’t been fault free either, itch has been scratched now, i will spend my cash with an other manufacturer on the next run. There are so many great cars out there. But nothing gives that Porsche feeling with regards to ownership, very special cars indeed. I may be tempted back for the 992.2 maybe. Cracking vid mate and stunning car! Well done on the channel
Not my experience at all, I have 992 and it was a pleasure, my Wife has just taken delivery of Macan she went for demonstrator and she could not fault the experience, flowers were a nice touch.
Completely not true. I bought my 992 Carrera by taking my Cayman in for a service, saw the 911 there with 50 demo miles on it, paid a deposit and took it home a week later after we agreed on a price for my Cayman. I’ve never once had my Porsche dealer play funny games with me. They even offered me a GT3RS they had on the forecourt if I had the £310k to spare.
The very best 992 is the base 911 Carrera. I know this because I’ve owned seven Porsches: Macan S, Macan GTS, Macan Turbo (which I still have), 981 Boxster GTS, 718 Boxster, 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 and more importantly a 992 Carrera 4S tuned to 628hp by Litchfield. Despite my new 992 991 base Carrera being 250hp down on power over my tuned 4S it is actually a much better drive! Being rear wheel drive only it weighs less and feels more lively and nimble. The base 911 with Sports Chrono actually does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds! I’ve come to the realisation that you don’t need any more power for UK’s public roads. It’s all the 911 you will need. Forget all their halo 911 models with silly horsepower, wings, 4WD and gimmicks, they are made for track days, not public roads. Mandatory options would be Sports Chrono, Sports Exhaust, adaptive cruise and 18-way memory seats. I bought my base 911 from my Porsche dealer’s forecourt with 50 demo miles on it, and it had £30k of options fitted, but was discounted £12k off list. A case of right place at the right time.
What a well put together and informative review of this stunning and impressive car. It's convinced me to order one today in Arctic Grey (with just a few home comfort additions!). Thank you . . . .
I have a guards red 2021 Carrera. Only options are sport Chrono and larger wheels. Honestly even those aren’t required. You will enjoy every moment in this car.
Tim….make sure you spec the optional extended range fuel tank. Very inexpensive by Porsche standards….( about $250 )…and you have about 23 gal instead of 16.9 !
Really good review, I have a 991.1 C4S and love that, but halfheartedly thinking of an upgrade to a 992, your review has made me think more seriously and I’m going to try and get a test drive this weekend.

I can't really believe how well designed the basic shape of a 992 is. Even in this basic trim, it looks so nice just with the colour. Where on older models like a 996 or 997 you needed to have the widebody version and some other bits to make it look nice, this 992 is just basically all you need. I think Porsche realizes, and that's why they brought some press cars with basically no extra kit (in the Netherlands we have an orange one that a lot of reviewers used). Its just very good news also for us enthousiasts, that in the future we don't need to be able to afford some ridiculous GT3 RS model to have a great car.
This is my perfect car, although maybe not yellow, it's all you need, everything else is up to you, how you drive, your skills. Turbos, 4 wheel drive, GT3, GTS, great for the track, hard core racing, but for epic fun on pubic roads, this machine is the best.
I've had a dozen 911s. Took delivery of a 2023 in April. Best one ever. A luxury sports car, fast as hell and nimble. Hellacious acceleration. Very imposing and I put an aerokit on it.

Definitely something special about the 911. I had the pleasure of driving a few and wow, that PDK gearbox really sticks with you. It's basically instant.
Porsche have now changed the base 911 to use Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and they are super-quiet on motorways (at least they are on my 992). Porsche worked with Michelin to reduce the noise substantially. They are much quieter than the noisy Pirelli’s I had on my 992 4S and have a far longer life.
991.2 4S if you've got a lot of inclement weather to require/take advantage of the AWD and, assuming PDK, for its much nicer console (incl +/-) shifter.
@@springertube live in England, constantly raining, don’t get much snow. But I figured if i bought a spec car like a 4s it would be a better seller in future in terms of appreciation than a 2S
@@sirz258 The "4" is not good just for snow but more sure-footed (peace of mind for a daily) in the wet and slick stuff as well. If one is available I would try one out before deciding either way. The 991.2 4S will have more standard performance equipment/spec (the "S" part) than a base 992 as well. For a nice video, admittedly 991.1 4S, type "Evo 4S" - when the auto journalist Henry Catchpole was still with the magazine (has since moved on to different venues incl on YT) - a great glimpse at the advantages of the 4's AWD system in the wet.

Nice car, but I'll stick with my 2019 4 gts. Love it!!!
Not interested in the 922s at all. 😊
Awesome review fella! …. 🤪
These base 992s are excellent cars, l honestly don't see the need to spec up one, best car for the money.
Great video Joel, so sounds like you should buy one😋😉
This car is on my short list of cars that make me play the lottery 😂
And to cap off with everything that you said it's a Porsche there's no substitute The history of the brand will always stay at the highest level.
You are a true story teller, that’s what sets you and your videos apart 👌and that’s actually a great talent to build and develop further. You will become very successful in live.
Cheers mate.
You lucky man great video 😊
Base 992 is the only car to provide smiles per miles 👍
I hate to be a PITA, but when you're giving metrics on things could you give them in also for your continental cousins please, even if its just an onscreen version of what you're saying about consumption, speed, whatever. Cheers, keep up the great work!
Noted, will do that for the next BH review!
@@itsjoel Cheers Joel. I'm a Brit, but as I've been on the continent for decades I'm thinking everything in metric.
where is that beach i want to visit it
Love that place mate absolutely awesome
So one of these over an r8?
50,000 dollar difference…
Should have done some donuts on the beach.
991.2 or 992?
Excellent video 👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️👏👏👏👏
Seems like you've fallen for it! Love the 911 steering, although I've only ever experienced the GT3... So, when are you buying one? 😉
Weirdly, I love that spec.
Only once you have owned a 911 turbo, then you understand how special they all are💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
That very car has already been in Harrys garage.
The 911 always did have a lovely rump...!
Certainly sounds better than all the Ferrari flatplane cranked V8s!
Years ago on another 911 release are saw a press car with this yellow colour scheme at the local Sainsbury's. Happened to see the journo drive of with a giant grin on his face.
great video
Such a cool car
I would love to see this in the flesh, I am always undecided about the yellow, it looks amazing on camera though
It's a nice car, to be sure. But with turbos and paddles, it's hardly a 'purist's dream'.
A gorgeous looking car end of😊
Bro what's your problem? Why would you bring it to the beach 🤦🏾♂️
I guess because it's not yours and won't worry about the sand that's going to be in it forever
If I won the lottery this is the car I will buy
Not yellow colour haa
to be a purist's car, it needs to be a standard, all 911's should be manuals
Transmission thanks to VW just another version of
I'll take that car please, where do I pay... Beautiful 😊
Great video and I think your channel and reviews are excellent. As for the car...I love mine but I set my expectations appropriately...build quality? Well, let's just say when you live with it daily you find their weak points.
What a beauty
great content but couldn't see the brutal part tbh :)
Everythink!!!!!!
Should be manual
