    Nick, you're wrong about the GTS not being technically different from the S. The GTS gets a bespoke tuned chassis with the Turbo's rear helper springs. It also gets the Turbo's brakes.

    I agree completely, I have owned 7 911,s over the last 10 years , my current 911 is a hi spec 992c2s which I love , I had a 991.2 GT3 before and it’s fantastic but not a daliy, I had a 992 GTS to drive a few weeks ago and couldn’t find any more power ? It had only traveled 250km so may be it needed more time to shine ! But I prefer my S as it has lower suspension sports crono sport exhaust etc and drive very very fast indeed?

I even think my 992 Carrera has too much power to really wring out and enjoy sometimes. I'm really really hoping they offer a Carrera T with the 4.0L and a manual transmission. 🤞

Andreas Preuninger stated at the 718 gt4/spyder launch at Goodwood, that the Gt4 motor "will be in something else" It cost too much money to design and build to not use it more. Also that it is a super clean motor and will pass EU smog regs for years to come. the only car that would make sense is a T. So save some money Ryan.

      @ThorsteinKlingenberg 3 года назад +1

      Enormous? Come on. You need to tighten 600nm. Mine goes to 800nm and while it is a bit long it's not too heavy. Swapping wheels would be a lot easier than 5-lugs if it wasn't for the cleaning and re-applying of alu paste. It's totally worth it though, with the peace of mind of not ever worrying of having a loose wheel after swapping pads on the track or similar.

    Hi Nick, thank you for sharing the info on the other GTS models. I am in complete 100% agreement on the shitty upgrades for the 992 GTS. I bought a 2016 991.1 GTS CAB. It was an amazing car because it was the last of the non-GT 911 cars. The sound was spectacular!!! Hated the center-lock “black” wheels. Had 3 nails in tires, (always a different tire). Mr. tire bought new parts to attempt to repair the wheel and 3 huge guys could not get the center-lock rim undone. So I patched the tire while on the rim. The other two nails in tires required the car to be flat-bed across town an hour away where Porsche made me buy new (and very expensive) tires. Unfortunately that car was totaled (hit head-on by a dually-pickup truck), a whole another story. I will never buy a Porsche again with black rims nor with center-lock rims. I ordered a 2019 991.2 Turbo S without center-lock rims and had to fight big time to not get the normal center-lock wheels. I bet that I am the only car like that. Had to go all the way up with senior Porsche leaders to get my configuration. It helped that this was my 17th Porsche. For the record the 991.1 GTS Cabriolet’s three airbags saved my life. Took me a year to recover from the accident to include leg, knee, neck & low back spinal surgeries. In 19 months only put on 1200 miles in my Guards Red 911 Turbo S. Best Porsche ever for me. Also looking to order a 718 SPYDER or 718 Boxster GTS. Want to get the NA engine and go back and for between the SPYDER and Turbo. PS: Race-deck / Alcontara

    Nick I think you miss the point of the GTS ‘trim’ model IMHO. Because the options are ‘baked’ into the base price it works better on a lease / PCP plan because your don’t toast your $13-20k options during your ownership. The final value of the vehicle will still reflect the higher base spec. Thereby reducing your monthly cost for the popular options. Porsche would still like you to add some options that you buy/then they resell to next owner for extra profit. That is why the best value 911 is always a base Carrera with minimum options (and the purest feel).

      Porsche finally realized they made massive mistakes when changing the GTS to smaller engines. My dad had a 2013 cayenne gts with the V8 and when the new one came out with the v6 he went to Mercedes for a v8 SUV. same with the cayman, no one wants to spend 100 grand plus on a v6 suv or 4 cylinder sports car. Good video Nick, I think Porsche will never detune the 4.0 naturally aspirated engine from the GT3 for the '911 GTS 4.0', as it will take away sales from the just-announced 992 GT3 Touring. Detuning that engine may make that hypothetical '911 GTS 4.0' be slower to accelerate than the Carrera Ss (even though you and I couldn't care at all about those statistics).

    I think having the Turbo centre lock wheels and Turbo brakes will be a selling point for some over the S. And you can option the leather interior, so no race-tex!
    If you did want a new S now, you’re pretty late in the model cycle, so those who want an S would surely be better off to wait for a 992.2 S.

    I agree with Nick on the 992.1 GTS model although I did not share his view on the 991.2 GTS.
    The real advantage of the GTS in the Carrera line up until the 991.2 generation was the wider rear combined with the rear wheel drive, that was a unique offering (borrowed from the 2010 limited edition ‘Sport Classic’ model), which only the GT models could/ can offer at the expense of less comfort (no rear seats, more stiff chassis, all in all more track oriented set up…and 4.0 liter engine). With the 992 all this is gone, I don’t see any real competitive advantage now, you could just buy a Carrara S and add a few more options and there you go…

    Biggest selling point on the 997.2 and 991 GTS models for me was that you could have the wider rear end from the AWD-models in the rear wheel driven GTS. Now that all 992s have the same body, the GTS is redundant imo.

    all true.... except in the UK, SPain and several other countries, the Touring is very limited and they could sell their allocation several times over, but only "VIP" customers will get them... this is perhaps where the GTS comes in, for those that cant get the touring, although it is, as you say, not comparable at all.

    Great video as always nick ! I would say the 991.2 gts is actually faster than a gt3 on my local track. They have better mid range torque to power out of tight hairpins and big enough turbo for top speed. So i would say it’s a bargain for track rats like me, I can save some cash for tires/brakes etc for the track comparing to gt3.

    In Norway, with outrageously high taxes on petrol cars, the 992 GTS will be priced around 320,000 USD with not too many options, and I heard from a Porsche dealership that “no one will buy a GTS at that price”. In comparison, 991.2 GTS from 2017 (and S) is half the price so those models may retain their value going forward.

GT Silver, black Carrera S wheels and glass sun roof. I will never forget that magical moment. Ever since then I have become obsessed with the GTS models. They hold a special place in my heart. Anyways. I am disappointed with Porsche the 991.2 and now the 992 are very.. blah. There’s nothing special to me about them. Granted I haven’t driven the 991.2 or 992 but IF I had the money I would buy a 991.1 GTS. I may just be bias but theres just something so raw about it to me

Its actually a very unique and special car, especially when everything goes electric that grumbly old 4cylinder will be a welcome sound..its lighter weight than the 4.0 and is basically as fast. the 4.0 is obviously is a triumph but don't hate on that old GTS 2.5 that is a very cool car in its own right..

    word on the street the GTS 911 has 2 psi more boost - finally someone who isn't sponsored and gives us what we already know but are still glad to hear - if the Carrera T had the engine and manual from the 718 GTS 4.0 then it would be the best selling '911' - build it Porsche and prove me wrong Andreas .... you've hopefully made your fleet average MPG with the Taycan - so surprise us and get real again ......you changed the 718 - you can change the 911 - start with a NA Carrera T .... and don't bs us with 'the NA 4.0 liter engine from the 718 won't fit' ......

    Hey Nick, fan of your channel but I am afraid I will have to disagree with you on this one.
    The GTS has:
    * The Turbo chassis (not the carrera)
    * The Turbo brakes
    * The turbo suspension.
    * the turbo wheels.
    So with that pointed out sayings it’s a parts bin special is a MASSIVE injustice, and your waaaaay of the mark!
    With turbo frame, chassis, brakes and suspension people are calling the GTS a turbo light, and considering it is only $5k more than the S I would spec it’s the deal of the century and the model to have!
