@@TedwardDrives Hey Tedward! Speaking of the base Carrera, I was contemplating about "cheaping out" (get it because it's still eye-wateringly expensive) over a completely base spec Carrera (with pretty much no options) in the future. In your opinion, would this be a worthwhile purchase? Thanks :)
Those double downshifts at 2:55 blew my mind. I've driven some decently fast cars, but that was the first thing that made me say "holy hell" in a long time.
8:26 Totally agree with you! Unless your going to track a car it can be very fustrating having that power. I much prefer a car that is incredibly fun to drive at lower speeds and you can get closer to hitting the cars limits. With the 992 and so many cars today you can be going 90 mph and the car is preforming at 30%. Also agree wheel sizes are going overbord 19 inch would be more then perfect on the car.
Amen brother you beat me to saying just this. Here in NJ the roads are congested with people who drive like crap and spoil any fun you can have. If you like Challengers(as I do), there's no point in getting anything more powerful than an R/T, because you won't be able to REALLY enjoy it. Sometimes I hate how slow and underpowered my Si is but at least I can unwind it without getting into too much trouble. If I had this 992 here I would be constantly frustrated. I'd also have to start a Gofundme to pay for tickets :)Beautiful car though.
I love how the 992 looks and I have to say I really think I want to have a Porsche at some point. But man I would get into so much trouble with a new, fast one
Agree to everyone’s opinions here. Bought a lightly used 2020 example last year, 992 C2S manual. Oh my it is indeed fast. Much faster than a 991.1 C2S I traded in. It’s comfortable , very stable, and oh so fast…
What a brilliant car. Porsche struck just the right balance here between classic 911 traits and a few steps forward into the future (though I agree with your exterior niggles). As someone made into a car guy because of the 911, I’ve appreciated more and more how steadily Porsche evolves it with each generation, especially as so many automakers race towards the future at breakneck speed. If it were me, I’d go for the base version with the 7 speed manual and the smallest wheel setup.
Crazy how fast the "regular" 911 is, just insane. What I'm surprised about though is how good it actually sounds. For just a 3 liter and the twin turbos messing with sound, it still has that great induction noise you expect out of a 911.
The 911 Carrera has long been my favorite Porsche (and probably my favorite all-around car) in both sound and design, and they’ve done a good job at keeping what’s become its signature sound over the last 20 years.
What really impressed me here was the PDK. It appeared telepathic, especially during that braking test. It almost looked like before you hit the brake pedal, the car had started to aggressively downshift. Crazy.
The magic of 911s is that they can do everything. This and the fact that both the silhouette and the engine noise are quite distinctive explains their success. Porsche has got this just right.
I got to spend a day in a 992 C2S in Stuttgart in September 2019. Spent the day on and off the Autobahn and in the winding roads of the Black Forest. Amazing car. So fast... and the overboost button in the middle of the mode selector dial is a fun feature too...
The 992C4S with the OPF, i had for half a day, sounded great. Way louder than expected, inside and outside the car. I wouldn't want it louder and i like loud cars.
Had a chance to drive this at a Porsche track experience and absolutely fell in love with it. It's a gorgeous car and the performance, even on the stock 4S and 2S models is staggering. I suppose the GTS/Turbo iterations are insane, but the "base" models are quick as hell and handle like a dream.

Best Christmas present ever! I agree with your gripes because while cars are trying to become more technologically advanced, they are not really making the car "functional". Adding all these screens and sleek door handles may be great and all but it just adds another thing that can potentially break costing money. Even if I had the money to buy this car and pay for the repairs, its not a good feeling having to worry about something potentially breaking.
One of Porsche's best benefits is how well they hook up;which always makes the feel faster than comparable HP numbers.Like a missle launch in your back.
Cant wait to watch you drive more porsches in the future! Maybe Boston Motorsports will get a turbo s? Thank you for providing the some of the best automotive videos along with the guys at savagegeese this year. YOU ARE THE MAN!
Yeah, I was reminded just how enormous wheels are getting when I saw a BMW X6 M50i and Audi SQ8 parked on the street today (they both had 22 in. wheels and the BMW had 315 mm rear tires!)
Agreed. The 19’s on my Golf R were too big for New York roads. Needed sidewall. Stepped down to an 18in wheel and I am extremely pleased. Overall diameter exactly the same, just more sidewall:)
This is crazy. This video is like it was made for me. I have been looking at ordering a 992 (once European delivery is a thing again) and you literally drove my commute route: 90/95 to Lincoln and back via 2. Keep up the good work!
10:59: On-ramps in regular traffic are miserable even in normal vehicles. Virtually nobody knows how to use an entrance ramp -- to get up to highway speed before merging. Virtually any modern car is quite capable of that; yet very, _very_ few drivers actually use the car or the entrance ramp correctly.
Dude I’m with you. Wheels are ABSURD these days. 20’s on the Type R?! For reference I drive a 10th civic with 16” RPF 1’s. So I am biased towards smaller wheels. In Porsche’s defense, they’ve ALWAYS been on the fore front of massive wheels. 18’s on 993’s. That is a tiny car.
Nice video!! I agree on the wheels. Especially when you showed it from certain angles. I'm glad a manual is still available. The stick just fills the center console so much better.
The problem regarding the lack of sound we have in europe isn‘t really because of the GPF, but regulations for noise are getting stricter on a very rapid rate as well.
Given how fast the S is, I think a base Carrera is more suited if you want to push the car. As much as I dislike the standard 718, the 4.0 is surely too fast as well. Makes me glad for the 964. I had the chance to drive a friend's 66 with a 2.7 and it was very enjoyable because you could actually push it without risking your license.

6:17 I think your description of older 911's is because the older cars had more sidewall. Lower profile tires will feel more direct (at the cost of comfort, sure).
Good review but you forgot a very important feature. On the little mode dial is a button that when pushed puts the car into 30 seconds of overboost. I have used this feature on the track and it's fantastic. More aggressive exhaust, gearing and BOOST. I think you would have loved it.
The way that Porsche has been able to maintain that Porsche "spirit" in the sound of their engines is really something to be admired. It's where others like BMW have somewhat lost their soul and why so many BMW enthusiasts have been continually disappointed. They're still great cars.. they've just become something else. Since the 997, the 911s have gotten MASSIVE, especially the GT3s. It’s like they are ALL now grand touring vehicles. The Boxsters and Caymans are now what the 911s used to be.
Things are just getting too fast. I believe there is a sweet spot for street cars at around 12.5-13 seconds in the quarter with trap speeds of ~110. Anything beyond that is very difficult to ever really row through the gears. In Porsche land, I’d say a 997 c2s is the Goldilocks speed-wise.

Its why i ordered it in green which is pretty subdued and not flashy for the law. I also ride a V4S and run from the cops almost daily so im extremely in tune to reading traffic and spotting cops and under covers which there are many here.

Its why i ordered it in green which is pretty subdued and not flashy for the law. I also ride a V4S and run from the cops almost daily so im extremely in tune to reading traffic and spotting cops and under covers which there are many here.
Finally someone who sat in the backseats properly😅 couldnt figure out if those sits are roomy enough..turns out nope they arent but still this car is ultimate perfect car for me
10:58 haha being a big city dweller with Cayman S I couldn't agree more
Such a nice car. Tried one at the Porsche experience and it’s so impressive
Hey man, wow, your channel really took off this year! I recall when you were in the 30k sub range. Great work.
Thank you! Once I dedicated most of efforts toward it it started coming together
Grew up in Lincoln. Weird to see my hometown on youtube! We have a silly bumper sticker-- "Lincolnites drive 20 in Lincoln." Glad you're not a Lincolnite! :)
😂
Yeah it's to damn fast for a normal or based 911 , i can't wait to test the turbo S with 0 to 60 in 2,4s 🔥 without mentioning the up coming GT3RS and GT2RS lmao 🚀🚀💨 great video man as always , i did enjoy keep up the good work ❤️🙏🏻
