That sound, that build quality, that confidence in reliability, without compromising the fun factor or daily practicality. There are cars, and then there are porsches.
Best car I have every owned. Prior 911 was a 991.2 Turbo. Stupid fast, couldnt exploit power without losing license. T about perfect. Back road Cali driving is where it rules.
The manual T delivers for me one of the best driving experience within the 911 range. Many of the modern 911s are nowadays too polished, to perfect and sometimes even too fast. This one feels special, true engaging and still a little bit raw. And I think in that way it is better without RAS.
I think the 992.1 will be remembered as one of the greatest 911 generations ever. If I could get one I would have gotten a 992.1 Carrera 4S Cabriolet Manual
To keep the 'piano gloss' around the shifter like new, when you get your front end PPF protected, have them PPF the piano black surfaces for an extra $100. Clean as a whistle with a wipe of the microfiber cloth. Manual 992.1 Ts RULE!!!
It doesn’t matter if its the “slowest” 911 in the line up because at the end of the day it IS still a Porsche that not everyone can afford. Kudos to the owner. 🤘🏻
You have a valid point on the RAS, and it’s great you compared the S without it, but I wonder how much you’re really enhancing the handling experience with it. My 2024 T is spec’d very similarly to this car but I opted out of RAS. My rationale was I wanted as much of an analog experience as I could get in a modern car. So far I have experienced full confidence in tight turns at higher speeds without it.
I did the same with my T, after they announced the S\T without RASt. I Drive different models back to back. It is true that The car feels more agile and responsive with RAS, but if also feels a bit more like playstation. Dynamicwise I don“t think there is much of a difference at least besides the track. Personally I think manual and standard steering fits the best. But either way there is no wrong decision there.
I had a deposit down on an Emira for 2.5 years, but finally gave up. The problems the early Euro cars were having scared me away. The Emira is a beautiful and fantastic drivers car. I hope you got a good one. I ordered a '24 T last September and I absolutely love it. I also own a 997 so I have the best of both worlds. The 997 definitely gives you more feedback, but the power, styling and absolute comfort of the 992 is hard to beat.
Tear me apart but a low optioned Carrera S with a stick makes more sense to me. 60+ additional hp with no mods that void warranty for a slight price increase. Win win.
Yeah I agree and it doesn't loose the sound deadening and has much better interior options. The T is pretty good though, but the S is the best in the entire line-up
Comparing cars on paper is never a good idea. S is a soft tourer. T is as close as it gets to the feel of old Carreras. More raw and begging you to wring it out. Neither is a bad car. But buy what you like, not what is "better value". I have zero desire for an S or GTS but I like my T because it's everything that the S and GTS are not. The fact that it's cheaper is just a nice bonus.
Has anyone noticed he has very fast hands on the wheel always seems to be putting steering input into the car even on straights. Is this kick back from the wheel? Very bumpy Road?
Always look forward to your reviews. For the record, 911 cup cars and GT3 cars have always been rear engined. The only mid engine version was the RSR in GTE class mostly for aero advantages (moving the engine up allowed for a larger rear diffuser), and also improved tire wear.
How’s this 7 speed manual better than a 6 speed? The GT4/spyder 6 speed felt good to me. The 991.2 7 speed GTS felt rubbery and soft and not clinical like the 6 speed.
I Suspect in referring to the ‘shifter’ he simply means the gear lever itself. To be fair I’ve owned both a manual 992 gts with this shifter and a manual 718 gt4 and the shifter from the 992 is a more pleasing feeling in the hand. The gearbox on the other hand I’d take the 718 gt4 6 speed every day. Perfect world is put the 992 shifter in a gt4. Very easy to do as have done it myself! Job done.
Gloss black tends to scratch VERY easily. A handful of swipes to clean it during a detail will leave fine scratches behind. You can see them when the sun hits them. Even when care is taken to clean gloss black trim, through time the scratches will build up. The solution is to PPF those areas. They make pre-cut kits.
I mentioned above, when you get PPG protection (from rock-chips) on the front end, have them PPG the piano black surfaces, cost me an additional $100 and comes clean with a swipe of a microfiber cloth.
Too much tech in cars now, takes away from the driving experience. That being said, Porsche is still the leader in every category. Would just love a completely digital/ tech free car for less $$$$.
A blindfolded person would not tell the difference between the S and the T. The 911 is better than the Cayman because you have more space inside the cabin. That’s why they put the engine in the back in the first place.
That's not why Porsche put the engine in the back. The Porsche 356 which was 'inspired' by the VW beetle design layout had the engine in the back, and then that carried over to the 911. Having the engine in the back improves traction as there's weight over the rear wheels, and it creates a simpler drivetrain with the engine, driven wheels and exhaust all in the same place.
I don't totally understand how you could walk past a $102k Boxster GTS 4.0 and get a 992.1 Carrera T, if you're a driving enthusiast. There's some fair competition in the marketplace at $102k even, from older Pcars and other brands. $150k seems a bit wild IMO
Any 911 these days is absurdly overpriced. Good review, but any review of a modern 911 MUST be finished up by the reviewer signing the bill of sale or walking away. This is how the modern 911 is ultimately reviewed: would I pay for it? I know what I did when the time came…
I drove one. The manual is good but the knob and sound while shifting feels plasticky and kinda cheap. An upgraded weighted shift knob may improve this
A weighted shift knob will not improve a linkage filled with plastic and rubber. It will just reduce shifting effort, which also numbs the feedback... Resulting in a less satisfying shift feel. I don't know why folks point to heavier shift knobs as the end-all solution when that's actually far from the truth.
@@axledog7297good info. Although when I drove it, the actual shift knob felt like plastic in the palm. The shift lever “clicked” into the gears and felt fine and that did not feel plasticky
@@JuanAdam12 yes. It was a T. Not the normal base (no manual) and not the S. I havent driven a gt3 yet. As for manuals, in the past, I enjoyed a Subaru STi with the factory short shifter option and the s2000. The T wasn’t bad though, just the actual knob felt plasticky and the clicks into gear weren’t as satisfying, I know, very subjective. Maybe it’s just me. But I can see myself being happy just changing out the shift knob to an aluminum one. It won’t change the gear engagement feeling but the knob will feel better and more substantial in the hand

Can't talk about how people should drive their cars when you're driving like you do. Why are you micro correcting constantly. Unnecessary

Went without RAS on my 992.1 T for the same reason! Such an awesome car to drive.
Another 992 non RAS T owner here. Wouldn't change a thing.

And the 911 GT1
How would you rate the enjoyment and fun factor vs. your Emira? You talked about build quality, was hoping for the dynamics comments!
I’m just about hitting break in with my emira and will be pushing it much harder. Will provide that context in future videos!

Hey Kevin, what is your impression in terms of comfort, road noise, performance, and fun compared to the LC500? Great seeing you on this channel!
Comfort and road noise better in LC500. Performance to the 911. Fun would depend on type of driving
@@jubbalandcars Makes sense. I got my hands on a 992 C4S on some canyon roads and loved it. The LC500 interior is just so special. Thank you!

Dude should have got a GTS 4.0....
Less refinement, not as nice of an interior, smaller, overall not as good of a car a 992, but it is better balanced and has better handling / grip
