Pressing a button to start up the engine and a complete removal of the last analog dial on. 2 has greatly reduced 911 sport car spirit despite the car has gone through a facelift upgrade! Keeping my 992.1 C2S
I feel like a jerk to admit it: but as a '24 (.1) T owner…I'm actually really happy the .2 (and later) are without the awesome analog tachometer and turn-key start. In love with my 7 speed manual in these California canyons.
Same. SO glad I ordered a '24 T 7M over a year ago and picked up in April. I really dislike the digital tach. On the flip side, I do like the cleaner front end of the .2
My takeaway is, if you have a .1 there seems to be no reason to sell it for a .2 unless you want the "latest" model. Just my opinion. Cheers, nice video.
I just took delivery of my 992.1 Carrera S about 3 weeks ago. My dealer calls it the Unicorn as it is probably the last manual transmission delivered here in the US. I probably added more options than most people want or need. But I am absolutely in love with the car. The sound is amazing as is the analog tach. All due respect to those of you who like the PDK, but I would not drive a sports car with an automatic transmission. It’s like dating your cousin. It’s just wrong.
@bourbontraveler im in California so I'm used to daily traffic. I know some people say its difficult or annoying having a manual in traffic but it never bothered me.
@@bourbontraveler all the time. The clutch and shifter are so light and smooth you hardly know that you are shifting. Not like my old 964 or my old MG or Austin Healy
That overboost button on the steering wheel is my best friend. I used it the second day I had my car. I was getting on the 405 Sunday morning at 5:30 AM and found out go to jail Speed is instantaneous.🤣🤣🤣
Nice video. Simple and informative. I’m surprised I prefer the front of the .1 cos I liked the final reveal of the .2. I prefer the .1 lights and grill.
I have a 991.1 Carrera 4S that I will never sell ever I love when I fire it up I love the sound of the engine the induction the rev climbs. There’s just nothing like it actually putting the key into the hole and turning it on the left side. This is what Porsche is all about completely taking that away, I have a BMW5 series G3 when I’m gonna get into that kind of car I drive that, they’re taking what makes Porsche unique and blending it in with the rest of the herd
Concerning the body the the 2024 looks more " 911 " than the 2025 ..... Nice video . Selling Porsche seems to be your passion not just a job. Well done !!!
The first thing I noticed was the smooth refinement of the engine in .2 which also seems to rev quicker. Its also nice to see gear and speed indicators stacked again!
Placebo effect as they share the same engine with the only differences being the .1 GTS turbos (2) and .1 Turbo intercooler on the .2 base engine for a 9 hp gain (388 vs 379 on the.1) and the torque remains unchanged at 331.
I’m buying this car but sadly have to go thru a broker as the 3 Porsche dealers closest to me in the S.F. Bay Area wouldn’t cut me any sort of deal even if I ordered it. Base with only 3 options. Bose, insulated glass, gentian blue.
Congrats on securing a discount. Can I ask what % discount you were able to obtain from the broker and how much you think they obtained themselves from the dealer? I’ve read Porsche sales down 7% YoY last quarter and dealers more motivated to push product (esp EVs)
Prefer the .1 rear light arrangement and the sound. If I could transplant the .2 front lights to a .1 then that would be perfect in a brewster green colour !
Thank you Mike for this great comparison. When I test drove the new 992.2 I felt maybe a little stronger push from the turbos but also a little more lag. Btw I don‘t hear a pop off valve in my 992.1 T. Performancewise there was no noticeable difference. (edited; forgot the "no", sry)
Thanks. It is interesting that the pop off valve chirping is more pronounced in some 911‘s but I usually hear it letting off the accelerator with lower RPM.
How is it a fantastic video? Title is driving back to back and then asks the viewers what they like better?!?! No, you tell me since you just drove it back to back!
Great comparison. Does the base 992 have an open diff? I can’t find this info concretely. Also, hard to hear the difference between sports exhaust on/off. Is it really worth it?
@@mikerusznak Got it. So no sports exhaust needed then. I know the 992 T has a limited slip differential which the regular 992 does not. I’m wondering if the regular 992 has an open differential or if Porsche has some other thing that I’m not aware of.
I prefer the analog dash on my 991.2. And my sports exhaust has more crackle... The alcantara steering wheel on my 2018, is not too hard to keep clean with a brush and some detailing products - looks new every time I clean it. Otherwise, the 992 is a very nice car, but not worth it for me to upgrade.
Great video! I’m in for the .2 and I’m waiting for a T allocation. I’m sure I’ll change the exhaust at some point and while the start button is a bummer, it’s certainly not a deal breaker. I’ve been hearing that the ecu is locked in this new car which may have me changing my mind.

I’m a long time porsche owner. Currently have a 991.2 GTS manual. Each update removes another piece of what makes these cars great. Adding a push button start is a major mistake That just makes it like every other car I own. Not good!
Thanks for the great review! Does the .2 not have any over run or burrbles and pops in sport mode ? I couldn't hear any at all. Not sure if the mic just didn't pick it up. As far as throttle response, suspension, braking over all driving feel etc did you feel any difference ?
I couldn’t get it to pop or gurgle in any drive mode. Otherwise no difference in drive. It reminded me of driving a Turbo S in its refined smooth speed.
6:33 What?!? they got rid of the waste gate chirping noise? That was one of my favorite features of the 992.1 base Carrera. That sucks if it is no longer there, I loved making that noise (can't really hear it in these videos for either car)
This is also my concern. I would imagine that it will be slightly worse since it is using the turbos from the old 992.1 GTS. Maybe it not really enough to make a difference. The power / turbo lag in the 992.1 Turbo S is quite noticeable and I don't like it.
We just got back from our European delivery of our .2 and they mentioned European noise pollution laws so that’s probably what’s accounting for the lack of the pops on the .2.
