    Being at a point in my life where my Porsche 911 fandom can now be measured in larger fractions of a century, I've been able to witness first hand the relentless progress in performance. This led me to start to compare disparate models over time. For example, in the mid-70's Road&Track observed that "...this year's T goes like last year's E, and this year's E goes like last year's S, and this year's S goes like h***!" In the same vein, I compared the specs for the previous generation's Carrera T to the original 996 GT3 -- and they were shockingly close (even though the modern car was heavier). I haven't looked, but I suspect that this generation's Carrera T will have performance specs surprisingly close to a 997 GT3's. Anyone want to check me?

    • @lvervoortify

      @@Xonxon168the reason I would go manual is that, and it’s of course just personal opinion, it just feels better to shift gears manually versus just hitting the gas and turning the steering wheel. Ok it’s possible to use the paddles but personally I have never been in favor of that. As often the cliche says manual is more engaging, but it’s true, there is just one more thing to keep you busy. I can tell that driving a PDK T in the third year started to feel a little bit ‘just an ordinary day’. Working the manual stays motivating to get in the car and drive. Also the T is about maximizing the ‘analogue feel’, well a gear stick maximizes that. Just my 2 cents :-)

    The real price of a 911 T in Canada was slightly over $220,000 CDN, before the recent price increase. That included the $35,000 in options you are required to order by the dealer, federal luxury tax, GST, Provincial sales tax (some provinces have lower sales tax), and all the miscellaneous charges. With the price increase, it’s certainly now over $230,000. It may be cheaper in some provinces depending on the tax. The total taxes to be paid on this car are about $50,000.

  • @porschelover04
    @porschelover04 Год назад +1

    Saw one of these with the PDK the other day. It confuses me why you'd bother getting the T without the 7-speed. The way I see it, the T's main draw is being less expensive than the S, since it has the base Carrera engine. The base Carrera is PDK-only, while the S has either, so the T is a great way to get the manual and a bit of extra kit without paying $10k more for an S with equivalent options. But a PDK T is just a base Carrera with a couple lightweight-ing options for over $10k more.

      Not entirely true, as you get SPASM from the S, sport chrono, 20/21 wheels, sport exhaust. But yeah, agree manual is the target.

    • @thefridgeman
      @thefridgeman Год назад +2

      The main draw for the T is getting the nice "base" engine (NA power delivery, none of the rubber banding of the S/GTS) with some sporty bits not available otherwise (PASM Sport, manual, less sound deadening, rear wheel steering, etc). Also, the noise of the T, especially inside is above the S/GTS, even with the same PSE.

    The fronk on the 992 911 models in the US do have a touch to open feature. You run your hand across in a side to side motion on the bumper just below where the Porsche emblem is. My 21 C4S opens like this and opens by accident on me all the time if I am washing it or even just giving it a good rinse and dry. The Canadian T you guys are driving may not have the option as a Canadian car? I was surprised when you guys said it had no blind spot monitoring, I guess that is a Canadian option deal as well?

    Been waiting for this review from you guys! Just hit 1000 miles in my 992T and loving it so far. It feels a little more refined and grown up compared to the 991.2T but that might just be because I couldn't get the new car with carbon buckets. Loving the 7 speed transmission even though it seems to get some hate for some reason. Biggest gripe is the lack of noise even with PSE and Sport mode turned on. The aftermarket has addressed that for me though!
