Nice selection of pedals, most of which I didn't know. Thanks. As for one-man-bands, I have to acknowledge the master - Todd Rundgren. So many of his great 70's albums were just him, recording all the parts and harmonizing with himself.
Tony Fletcher There are so many companies and small builders out there making both vintage and newer, crazier shit. Currents is so good!! Stoked to see what the new album is going to sound like. The singles are very house/disco. Should be interesting. Favorite solo band has got to be Mac Demarco. All of his records are solid even if some take a few listens before it all comes together. By the way, just found your channel recently and have watched so much. The fact that you take the time to make these is amazing. Some JHS pedals have been added to my wish list for sure!!
True. It's so well recorded. I'd like to know if that's a Jazz Bass or his Eko viola bass. The bassist uses a jazz live, but the dude records his own music and used the Eko for a different song, so idk
I’m going to politely disagree, any time I see this song praised, it’s for the bass/groove (which we agree on) so maybe it’s just overrated by people whose first exposure was that song? I enjoy the sounds and instrumentation of Lonerism and Innerspeaker more, but The Less I Know The Better stands out from all the synths on Currents
The Chad Pad I wish I was there to see the magic happen. There is footage of him recording tracks with the Hofner during that period too, so I’m at a loss

I like Tame Impala when I hear the on the radio, but I can never find them in my record shop. Probably sell out too quick. Favorite band of one person is Washed Out. Life of Leisure is a fabulous EP, but even Mister Mellow is really good after a few spins.
Yeah except in a year or 2 all the best pedals would be selling for $5--$100k, while even mid tier pedals that you could now get for $75--$200 would be going for thousands of $$$. It does make me wonder though, with each new year 1000's of new pedals being released, far far more than ever before, & w/ the number of new releases seeming to be endlessly increasing, why have used pedal prices stayed so high or arguably even as a whole gone significantly up in price? I mean new prices on most pedals are insane, 300-500$ for yet another mehhhh klone or tube screamer sounding "transparent" OD for instance (what was the $ on Chase Bliss's new Rever & Preamp pedals? I think with tax they aren't to far from a grand each new!!!) And most used pedals seem to sell for 85%-98% of their new price!!! Many newer high demand pedals are selling used for 125%--250% of their new prices!!! I'm pretty sure their is a Pedal/ Gear-Bubble that's gonna bust soon.
Glad you mentioned the Meris mercury 7 borrowing it off pedal genie and I needed a reminder to experiment more with it this week and dig deep into it before I send it back

A video about other brands, your own line of pedals and showing us what comes in to play when you're doing graphics, where you get parts, etc. Its just an idea. So far, a big thumbs up for all the amazing videos you've given us so far!
Hell yes! thank you for giving the Caline Orange a shoutout. Ive had one on my board for almost 2 years now. Not only a great sounding OD but a perfect boost also
You figured it out, there is actually a small hive in the circuitry, and when you click it on it sends 9V through it, which activates the bees. regarding Tame Impala...I was slow to join the party....but it was the super warm synth's that brought me into the family. Such more good sounds. Of all the live shows I saw last year, Tame's was the most impressive. His use of lighting takes his music to an entirely different level. Any my lord does his love that big, fat, swooshy flange that you can get in the studio. Wweeeoosssshhh.
Josh, another "One Man Band" for you to check out is Emitt Rhodes. Recorded for ABC Dunhill in the 70's. His career has a very interesting story too. He wrote all of his own music, played all the instruments, recorded in a home studio he build in his garage, disappeared for decades and released a new album within the last few years. You'll like him!
so I love my kaleidoscope jptr is awesome.that paring with the swarm was definitely enticing. been wanting beetronics but you know how such decisions go. echoman ive been watching for days. just gonna say I like your show. keep it up.
Great episode...when I saw the intro the first thing that popped into my head was Seymour Duncan, a company that makes some great pedals but nobody seems to give a chance because they're not cool and booteek enough. The Shapeshifter is a fantastic trem that beats out much more expensive examples in my book, and in stereo! The only thing it doesn't offer is a harmonic option, but it's got a variable control between 3 wave shapes...and you got yourself the version with The Thing artwork, drool! I'm guessing they got in trouble for stealing that and had to stop...
I love Tame Impala. I think I like the previous two albums a bit more than Currents. Sometimes. Sometimes I like Currents more. It took me a good year to really get into it. I got so comfortable with his synth riffiness, that Currents was a bit hard to get into. I love it now though. Eventually, and The Less I know The Better are my favorite songs from Currents. Looking forward to a new album. Thanks for doing what you do, Josh. You're a gem.
The Marshmallow pedal sounded like Yoko Ono singing her original songs. The Kaleidoscope & Swarn sounded interesting though. The specular was spectacular.

I have the Kaleidoskop Reverb Pedal, bought about 2 years ago. It’s a fantastic reverb, where you can do from small reverb to weird fun settings. And it looks dope. It’s German small company called JPTR, Jupiter spoken.
Tame Impala sounds really good - hadn't heard of him before. My favorite does-everything-himself-act is Villagers. Everyone who loves music from a compositional standpoint should hear him/them. Just awesome.
Gosh darnnit I think this is my fave episode so far!! I love it when this show gets a little of it's freak on. Single artist: Sparklehorse - probably my favourite dead genius
Happy Highway Trucking , Jules Sparkles on the Happy Highway Label are all single individual do everything ( literally) , the solo ensemble HappyHighwayTrucking is available where all fine music may be down loaded.
Joseph Crabtree This album was a major ping pong bounce away from his popular “ hits” sound but, its so cool. Experimental, soul, theater, it has it all. Great singing, great guitar playing, just love it. Daliesque artwork for the cover with octagon shaped cutaways... this album was from another dimension. It also tested the limits of the album format, as to length, how much music could be put on an album. He’s still going, so see him now. Tame Impala has a live version of “ International Feel”, find it.

These pedals are fantastic. I love your work at JHS and I can’t wait to get one of your pedals.
So pumped to see Meris getting some love.
And favorite band/actually one person is definitely Pedro The Lion/Dave Bazan
Great picks Josh, really enjoyed this episode!
Never heared of Tame Impala before - and now I'm just about to become a massive fan! Thanx for that, Josh!!
Prince did some amazing stuff all by himself (1st 2 albums)
As a musician in southwest Michigan, I was real excited to see the Park Theatre echo-reverb on here.
The peacekeeper is so underrated. It might be my favorite pedal I own (tidewater is up there too!)
You should do this every six months or so. Its interesting and helpful.
"On today's episode.."

I am physically incapable of disliking anything this man does.
The Thorpy FX Peacekeeper sounds like it belongs on a killer guitar track on an amazing song. All the pedals are great, though. Awesome video, Josh!
regarding Tame Impala...I was slow to join the party....but it was the super warm synth's that brought me into the family. Such more good sounds. Of all the live shows I saw last year, Tame's was the most impressive. His use of lighting takes his music to an entirely different level. Any my lord does his love that big, fat, swooshy flange that you can get in the studio. Wweeeoosssshhh.
That blues jam around 15:10 or so waszz... damn cool Josh!!
That Howard Davis DMM mini is a God sent great thing
Josh, another "One Man Band" for you to check out is Emitt Rhodes. Recorded for ABC Dunhill in the 70's. His career has a very interesting story too. He wrote all of his own music, played all the instruments, recorded in a home studio he build in his garage, disappeared for decades and released a new album within the last few years. You'll like him!
Fairfield circuitry!! From Quebec, amazing delay, awesome gated fuzz, amazing marketing strategy
If uou don’t know them then you should
so I love my kaleidoscope jptr is awesome.that paring with the swarm was definitely enticing. been wanting beetronics but you know how such decisions go. echoman ive been watching for days. just gonna say I like your show.
That visible overdrive is amazing the other guitarist in my band uses it along with an SL drive into a H&K tubemeister screaming punk tone for days
Really liked the Yellowcake sound. Just snagged one for $60. Deal Of The Day !! When you hit that G chord, I was sold !
The War on Drugs - specifically the A Deeper Understanding Album
Awesome episode, as usual, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! Since you had a pedal from germany on the show and all jptr fx are pretty amazing (wait for the antiwave!!!) my recommendation for the „one guy band“ is also from germany: it’s „get well soon“
ThorpyFx Peacekeeper is one of my absolute favorite always on drives. Plays especially sweetly with my Princeton.
I’m a robotics engineer. I’ve spent many years in school learning my trade and everything that I possibly can about anything electronic. I work 50+ hours a week at a great salary and I still can’t afford a JHS pedal 😭 I’ve been saving for months and I’m not even half way there lmao i just want to support you man. You’re my favorite channel and I e learned an enormous amount from you. Stay rockin my man
Specular Reverb is awesome! Planning to get one.
Just ordered the CALINE Big Orange. Thanks JOSH!
Gosh darnnit I think this is my fave episode so far!! I love it when this show gets a little of it's freak on. Single artist: Sparklehorse - probably my favourite dead genius
Happy Highway Trucking , Jules Sparkles on the Happy Highway Label are all single individual do
everything ( literally) , the solo ensemble HappyHighwayTrucking is available where all fine music may be down loaded.
Josh, your channel is dangerous. Just bought the dead beat invisible overdrive and the JPTR FX Kaleidoscope 🙈😂
"feral gazelle" - so new that you heard it here first! so new that i have yet to write songs under the new name!
Lowercase Noises...just discovered him last week and he's amazing
The Haxan Cloak. Some really out there stuff, dark, ambient, all the stuff you need for Halloween.
The decomposer sounds super rad!!!
Very interesting variety, thanks for the upload.
Todd Rundgren - A Wizard/A True Star
The inspiration for Lonerism, indeed!
Joseph Crabtree
This album was a major ping pong bounce away from his popular “ hits” sound but, its so cool.
@@-davidolivares this is all true! Saw him a couple years back and it was incredible. Love nearly everything Todd does. Thanks for the recommendation!
DAMMIT IT JOSH YOURE NOT SUPPOSED TO TALK ABOUT THE SHAPESHIFTER!!!
My favorite one man band is "Hungry Lights", he is insane at everything he does and out-does himself with every record.
Justin is now the singer for Tallah. My band opened for his old band, Amneon back in 2011.
That's awesome, yeah Tallah is sick and I can't wait for their debut album.
