I've never seen these before perhaps they never came to British TV? They are all well produced, deeper and more plausible than most. Kate of cause has more daring and a good sense of how to get out of what she's dared to walk into. To some extend comparable with British TV of the time but distinctly American all the same. Also comparable to Rockford files, Kate is also a kind generous person but without the physical knocking about that James Garner suffered making his show.
Another too unrealistic story. Of all the tapes, she just comes across these too important ones! What a coincidence! And that man has a terrible foreign accent. Really unpleasant guy. But the acting of Kate is splendid, as usual.
You sound like you & I are among those who wish the show would've lasted long enough to find out! 😁 I'd vote "yes," the scrapes she gets into on her own, she NEEDS another cop, & one closer to her own age! 😁
I did too! I liked the show. It needed more focus, true. But it was a good premise. If you noticed the first episodes where better than when the show is given a new name.
@VictoriaAlfredSmythe She never has a weapon, nor a partner or backup, no police handy usually, and wants to claim all the credit for solving the crime, and wanted to surprise her husband that she was a detective also. 🤷♀️
a fan theory was that kate just had the same name as lt columbo and was not related. That is why he is never mentioned. And she is never mentioned on his show.
Yes, it started as Mrs. Columbo and was then changed to Kate the Detective and Kate Loves a Mystery to set it apart from Columbo - an attempt to save rating as Columbo fans didn't take too kindly to it. 😂
The child Jenny was obviously cast purposely, as she is very like Lt Columbo to look at, shame in this show they got divorced, but no mention of divorce in the Columbo series!

I've noticed in season 1 and going forth she carried a huge everything but the kitchen sink mom purse, then went to a shoulder purse, then a clutch then no purse at all!! A woman with no purse? A reporter without pen and pad?
Considering that even though she did a GREAT job of playing a 30-something wife and mother, NO ONE that young could've successfully played the role of long-term wife of Detective Lt. Columbo, it was, unfortunstely, inevitable.
No. Due to the TV station not being in agreement with this show, she is re written as getting a divorce from a police detective who happens to have the same Columbo last name. Not our beloved Columbo character. The name of the shows changes as well to Katie loves a Mystery.
Wrong choice of actor for a czech!´Also how stupid to stand directly behind a car to write down the license-plate or sitting down at night to watch the tape, really....
Since this is the last episode; stupid writers changed her FUCKING NAME & a divorce so HOW COULD IT CONTINUE as "Mrs. Columbo"??? HAHAHAHHHAHHAHHAHHAHHAHHHAHHAHHA

Love the series. I had the good luck to have met Kate many years ago. Very beautiful lady. Nice person too
I used to watch this show years ago and loved it! The VHS tapes in this episode takes me to wonderful places and years that will never come back😊
Well I’m sad that this is the last episode. I’ve been enjoying them. Thanks for posting!
I can't believe they stopped the series, I would love to watch how Kate's and Mike's relationship developed
I love this show. I wish they would’ve made more.
She's a little naive. She boldly gets herself into potentially dangerous spots and then is shocked when they happen. So I would say she's not wise.
Lara Parker ❤❤❤
Absolutely brilliant - thank you 🇬🇧
This was a fun series.
Enjoy mystery TV and the no cursing and nakedness.

Hilarious how she's taking notes in the office, then you see her notes in beautiful scrolled handwriting! !
I liked the 1st season better. The theme music for the 1st season was nicer too.
i watched all episodes from Mrs. Columbo to Kate loves a mystery. Ended too soon.
You know even though she is sixty-six years-old Kate Mulgrew is still a good actress and she is still a good looking woman for her age.
They made a great team!!!! Great friends!!!!
The S.N.L. skit 'two wild and crazy guys' must have got the idea from this episode.
Right down to the plaid jacket and ridiculous fat tie. HeeHee.
God no kidding! He is ludicrous!
this woman gets personally involved with every damn suspect! on the other hand how will the story evolve if she hadn't?
Same as Columbo.
And she's made friends or flirted with several serial killers.
simply fun and relaxing...I'd love to know Kate
Colorful cast of characters, too.
8 min in dougs mom king of queens
She should be home making Dougie some lemon bars!! 🍋
@@pattyglenn6130😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Since she always tempts fate and puts herself in such jeopardy, for this last one, I was hoping Mike would arrive too late.
I never heard of this show. It never made it to AFN Europe I guess
It's called Mrs. Columbo, but they seem to be calling her Mrs Callahan?
In the second season they are divorced and she uses her maiden name.
Callahan.

This 1 is nice and loud!
luvin it
I wonder if Kate & Mike became an item

They totally did.
i don't know, why do they always park in front of house or crime scene? why does she always need rescuing at the end?

Guy stole his accent from SNL 2 wild and crazy guys
Is "Kate Loves a Mystery" a _separate_ series - in addition to the 13 entitled "Mrs. Columbo?"
No, the 13 episodes overall started as Mrs. Columbo and then underwent two name changes: Kate the Detective and Kate Loves a Mystery. 😉

how come all foreigners have an Italian accent? ;-)

I think this was shown in England as Mrs Columbo

Did she divorce her kid, too?
did she divorce columbo

The Czechoslovakian character has a terribly inaccurate accent! My father is from the Czech heritage and he sounds NOTHING like that!
🤣😂
Maybe your father doesn't have the latest accent .

The captain has a strong resemblance to late Saddam Hussein...
Probably why she didn't like him much.
Was he from Dark Shadows
The actor playing the ship captain is Cameron Mitchell. He worked on stage, in movies, and on TV.
@@teresaf991 Lara Parker was from Dark Shadows - the redoubtable Angelique.
I found this show to be so BORING. Just can't get into any of the episodes. I stick to COLUMBO 😍
Great news-you don't have to watch it! Why come on here just to insult a show that's been off the air for forty years?
