Weird question but why does voices always sound 10x better when singing in an echoey parking garage, bathroom, or hallway and is there any microphone that give that same effect?
Not the owner of the channel, not a professional either, but I hope this answers your question: That's usually called reverb. It sounds really good because it gives a spacey effect to our voice, masking the flaws we make during singing. "Many of these flaws include but not limited to: vocal pitch (flat or sharp notes), misplaced vowels, mispronunciation, tone of voice, lack of breath support, timbre or volume, and so on. " (Thank you someone from 5 years ago in a reddit post for helping me.) As for a microphone that has reverb (or usually called echo), there's cheap condensers that have a dial for that. Though, just buy something good for its price and do it in software.
@@qmigueelgreat explanation! Just one clarification though, reverb and echo are very different things! Echo is your voice repeating and playing again, in decremental stages of volume. Echo time is the duration after which the voice plays. Both reverb and echo are often confused for each other.
Love the effort you put in editing the vedioes and would appreciate if you make series where you teach the beginners who want to learn how to sing like the vocal trainings❤❤
Aw thank you so much, you're too kind! Singing can be very technical and I'm not qualified to be teaching so I probably won't be covering that on this channel. There's also the risk of teaching improper techniques that could lead to vocal injury and I don't want to be liable for that. SO, I'd recommend watching videos from certified vocal coaches for the guidance you're looking for! 🧡
I love how you explain everything in so much details but its not overwhelming for someone who has 0 info about mics, the effort you’re putting in the editing alongside the quality of the video is amazing! great video! Keep up the good work👏🏽👏🏽
Firstly, everything happens for a reason and in me considering making singing covers, I decided to look up how to start and landed on your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. You’re a blessing!
I use a Sennheiser E935. It's recommended to anyone. I've been using that cardioid dynamic microphone since high school, and I still have and use it. If I had to record anything with a microphone it would be singing. I already use the Sennheiser E935 for recording my trumpet.
Awesome choice! I know loads of people who use this one! and same here😂 been using the same mic i had since high school and it’s been holding up just fine!
Thank you so much for this video! I was so confused about all the different kinds of microphones, and apparently I wasn't the only one 😅 I've always wanted to record covers of my favorite songs, as well as getting better at singing and mixing, so a microphone is a must. If I were to pick a few songs to start... probably Idol (Yaosobi), Hated by Life Itself (Kanzaki Iori), and Lower one's eyes (nulut) {any fellow 25ji Nightcord de fans here..? }, songs I've written english lyrics for. I'm super excited to try recording my versions of these songs that mean so much to me! ❤
“Lower One’s Eyes” has got to be one of my favorite songs!! (Project Sekai player here!!!!) and Yaosobi is extremely talented!! Good luck on covering songs, and writing lyrics!!! I hope to cover someday too, and I really like Trickle’s English covers :)
I truly appreciate you for making this video. I’m currently in the process of creating music and was unsure of which mic I would need for the best sound quality. Thanks so much ❤.
I’ve been looking to get a mic for cover songs and overall just getting into audio recording. Thanks for uploading this video. I didn’t know any of this information before so this came at a perfect time!
Wow! I'm glad I posted just in time! Hope this video helped and if you have any questions about narrowing down your choices for recording covers a home, I would be more than happy to help!
With a new microphone id finally have the means to record my singing and playing, it could help me so much as a young musician. A new mic could let me start up my music career and would help me hear myself more clearly.
Thanks for this video! It was super informative and easy to follow. I'd love to use the mics to record my singing. I've been wanting to make music for a while but never really knew where to start so hopefully i'd be able to get it going with a new mic
I love this video, i'm really lucky that you uploaded this today since i've been waiting months to buy my first microphone and today i finally decided to go for it. Everyone can see all the effort you put on editing this video, keep going!! Love from Mexico
WOW! GO YOU! So glad you finally pulled the trigger and got your first microphone! That's such a huge step and I'm so excited for you to start recording. This message means more than you know and is the reason why I keep doing what I do. Much love!!
I was so excited when I saw this video in my subscription feed!! I’ve just recently started recording covers on RUclips and have just been using what I have (which is pretty much just my iPhone at the moment!). I’ve been watching some videos explaining this stuff, but I feel like the way you explained it was so clear and I feel like I understand it a lot better. I would love to record more viola covers on RUclips with a new mic!
This comment just made my heart grow 10xs!!!! So glad to see that you’re making covers! I checked out some of your videos and I loved your viola playing!! You’re doing amazing, keep on doing what you’re doing ❤ :’)
With the new mics, I’d love to record music of my own and even covers as well! I’ve always been interested in singing but it’s been hard since I live with many people in the house and we don’t exactly have much room or money. I’m hoping by working my job and using any free time and alone time I have to finally learn what I want and to start what I want to do :) This video was very helpful! I love watching your videos especially since I am a beginner myself so I find you add a lot of details but without making it complicated as well :)
I would love to use the mic to record cover songs and post on youtube like you do! Im going through a rough breakup with my boyfriend of over a year, and i wanted to start recording music to help cope and put this energy into something beneficial. You're giveaway opportunity came just at the perfect time. Thank you Annie, I wish you the best
I would love to record my acoustic guitar and ukulele and vocals with one of the three GIVEAWAY microphones! I learned everything I know about microphones and recording music from your channel! Thanks!
Hi ma'am, if I use the original Shure SM 58 mic With Universal Volt 1 Audio Interface. Can I get a good recording? Noise will not come in the recording ? Will I get crisp sound quality?
Annie! Wow! Thank you for your RUclips channel and what you offer! I just turned 60 in May and I am a singer/songwriter and am educating myself with your channel so that I too can start a RUclips channel where I record and sing my original songs. This BIG new decade for me, feels kinda like the metaporphosis from cocoon to butterfly! I'm trying new things and starting a RUclips channel is one of them! I would love to win one of your microphones so I can start recording my most recent original songs and get my channel up and running ASAP! In 2007 I did record 11 originals at a local studio and now have that CD "Songs from my Sofa' on Spotify. However, it is not representational of what I am doing now.
This video came at just the right time! I have been looking into making music and it has been a bit overwhelming to figure out what gear I want to get 😅
Thank you for all the helpful info! I’ve been looking into mics and was overwhelmed by all the options! I’d use the mic for recording voiceovers. Thanks for the opportunity!
I guess the condenser mic would be right for me as I need to record both my acoustic guitar and my vocals in one mic. Really thank you for the video, I know there are so so many efforts made for this video. Just know that your efforts are worth it.
Dynamic: live performance and drums and guitar and cancel out background noise for talking Condenser: powered by usb and more breathing and natural sounds Ribbon for vocals and natural
When I was three I have always wanted to become a song artist . When I was in my room singing Let it Go from Frozen.. my dad told me that at such a young age, I sung so beautifully. And when he said that I thought about all my favorite song artists like: Queen, Gorillaz, Nirvana, and so on.. and I wanted to become my own song artist and be the person I have always wanted to be.. It would be a dream come true.
Definitely planning to buy my mom a decent mic for her karaoke, along with using some for recording guitar-vocal covers. Thank you for the information!
I have always wrote songs as a hobby and would show my mom, but this time I think I might want to show people the music I can make! I have watched some of your videos on producing, song writing, etc. I use my vocals as my instrument, but I’m learning piano and after I want to learn guitar. I’m also a beginner at music but I want to get better! But I would use the mic for my vocals!
i been trying to get into vocals and even beatboxing i usually also play community games like discord, recroom, etc. thats is what i would be using my mic for.
Hi Annie! I would love to improve my home studio aka my room. I would love to record confidently my ukulele/piano and my voice without causing so much distortions.
I’d love to record some of my new songs as an aspiring song writer and musician. My music is my way of truly putting how I feel into a way I can see and hear. I’ve never been great at art so I could never use that. But music has been working as a sort of conduit for my feelings, not just so others can understand them but so I can too, and I would like to be able to record them for others to hear because I know that when people hear songs that have similar experiences to there’s, such as dysphoria or depression or anxiety, it helps to feel less alone
I have been watching your tutorial videos, this is the first time ive seen your channel, im a pre-teen who has been wanted to write music every since I was seven, now I want to make an album so badly and your videos are really helpful, I love your voice, and the way you explained everything made so much sense. thank you so much for your help! new subscriber
terrible underrated! your video was so well structured and informative, as well as the funny edits hahah, thank you so much, i know which one to get now!
I don't sing but for chatting and streaming dynamic mic is great because I have two fans and a condenser mic captures them both. With a dynamic mic and a noise gate in obs I can play songs and stuff at on my stereo at the same time and the people watching me stream can't hear them while hearing me clearly.
Ugh! I didn’t see the part about having to comment, but hopefully it’s not too late. I want to win one of the microphones you’re giving away simply because im a singer, who’s struggling to make ends meet… and would love to have better quality singing covers that could potentially bring me an audience. thank you so much for the opportunity to win something so amazing, as i can’t really afford one on my own.
Hi Annie! For as long as I can remember I’ve had a passion for music. If I were to win a condenser microphone, I would be able to fulfill my dream of singing and sharing my music with others. I want to experiment and bring new sounds to the music world. It would be such an honor to win! Thank you for the opportunity and your very informative videos :)
Nice informal video! I'd be stoked to be able to record some originals and covers with those mics. I'm very curious as to how my violin, guitar, and voice would sound through them!

It’s pretty!! And I wanna ask When you record songs, are the guitars and vocals on the same track through the microphone? Or the guitar is a single track? But I didn’t see your headphones in your other videos😮
