As a producer and classical pianist of 13 years, my best advice is try to learn everything you can about creating music, but almost more importantly, learn what music means to people, and has meant to people in the past.

@@gabrielestrada6165 my advice is listen to the critics people have about the current state of music. Especially when it comes to conversations about a particular genre. Even if you disagree with what they are saying, it's important to hear everyone's respective on how they feel about the state if music now, how they feel about this artist, what they actually feel about this song and what they like and dislike about it. For example alot of people hate how short music is and how bridges aren't created in alot of songs. Another Example is "in RnB, I know alot of people missed the fact that there aren't any story telling anymore in the music".
That's just two examples I've got reading comments section. So that's how!
You crying in the first 3 minutes was so comforting because literally YES "I haven't done any school in years" thank you for being so vulnerable to share that moment with us because I feel the same way trying to get into a Sonic Arts program and eventually pursuing a masters degree (Also I watched your video specifically bc literally the algorithm is always shoving stright white music bros down my throat and I'm like "plz no. Can i watch a video from literally ANYONE else for once" so thank you in general for doing what you do)
Yessss the producing journey is definitely a wild ride but it's a lot of fun!! My advice would be for every track you get stuck on start with a new one and come back to it later. The best part of producing is you can always repurpose or come back with a clear head after time passes. When I used to produce, I would set a goal on one specific piece whether it be melody, drums etc I wanted done. After I did that, I would break and either start a new beat or just walk away all together.

If i spent the time necessary on every song getting it to sound like it does in my head, id never have a song complete.

As a music producer that's been making stuff for a year, you did a really good job! The song was hella' groovy and as for someone who learned producing in 12 days I could say that's really REALLY good. I've had a hard time starting, but as time goes by and if your consistency on making beats are stable, that's where you get your momentum and of course, you must not lose that momentum as if you lose it, you lose motivation, progress will pause and you'll be stuck.
This video made me lowkey cry. I love how you share everything with your followers with absolutely NO gatekeeping. It shows how humble you are. Love you Annie.
Heyy Annie, first of all I love that you Put in the whole process, my advice as a producer and a mix engineer. if you ever feel you don't know what to add, get on the mic and humm melodies and stuff and you can EQ them to be not totally present and put them way back in the mix as a texture for ur beat.

Plus you can layer your melody at some parts with different instruments to make them sound cohesive at any time u need that in a song.

Not going to lie, for your first time it's actually very VERY good. If you heard my first track, you'd laugh your stomach out. And you're completely right music production takes a lot of getting used to, but since you have your amazing boyfriend and the course to help you, you have nothing to worry about. I've been wanting to get into producing for a while but I've been slowly learning the ropes after my day job the past month. It was really inspiring and motivating seeing you produce a song in 12 days!!

DO IT. Ive been producing for over 3 years now. When you get into its actually really easy. Just remember that its important bot to compare ur art to others that have been working in the music industry for years.

You can definitely learn without having to attend his class and hopefully you did find an alternative solution by now 😊.
Producing is just the tip of the iceberg. As a producer i find that the finding my sound part of the process is probably the hardest part. Then you have to learn to mix and master it to make it sound the best before u put it out for the world to hear it . Best of luck it's gonna be one hell of a ride. 😎👍
I'm so glad I came across this video! I absolutely know nothing about music production, songwriting, or playing instruments. But I know that I love music and want to create tracks like the ones I've fallen in love with. It's reassuring to know that I can produce something as lovely as your final product, even where I am now 🥰

Okay, I feel like crying (I am lmao) watching this because I've been stuck for so long, putting off working on recording and producing music for the first time because it's feels so hard and sounds nothing like what I hear in other people's music. Listening to what you said in the end and then hearing your little snippet of self produced music is validation and support I really needed to keep going because I recognize so many things from your journey and the piece of work you ended up with from it. It is hard because it is not the best way to learn it.
when she says " why am I crying" that's normal even if the person have been producing for years also ask that question when they're making a beat or mixing a song even when recording a vocals ( idk I think it's just me mybe)
So i started on Ableton today, i got so curious about this guys's course and i was like you ( i dont make a course for years) since 8 months ago when i decided to make my own video game RPG tittle after 3 years trying and failing i re-planned all my road and noticed i needed knowledge to do what i want. Now after 8 months learning many softwares for 3D sculpt,modeling, i am programming on unreal engine and so now i started to learn music! yay! after 1 year learning piano and 1 year without learn, i am here ready to come back to the road and make music to my game.
So i want to know more about this guy course and what exactly he teachs on his course,it will help a lot. i also have plan to get some on domestika,they teach so great!

i feel like no one can just learn music production and make good music, you have to experience the music over multiple years
Music is divided in these sectors:
-Creating music (from basic idea, you need to play instruments)
-Producing music (taking ideas into concrete songs/projects/albums. Not only the audio part but the whole artistic part like cover art of the single or video or short story video)
-Selling music (selling finished products like songs/projects/album) you use tiktok, how do you make it viral or not, you push into podcast or make live event with the group. Selling isn't bad, is actually important step for the whole process. Selling is also promoting.
-Managing people who create music
-Managing people who produce music
-Managing all the people above
If you have this team you're like 10% of people doing music and it means you're doing some money or good music
How do i know this? i guess we are never gonna know, is just a little tip
ps: to have a good group you need someone in charge of you that it's organizational type guy and the creating part is made by artistic people and producing side by straight focus guy
if you view management, marketing and sales as part of music, you will never be an inventive musician
I’ve been listening to A LOT of music lately. Lots of beautiful songs and vocals that have got me through tough times in my life. It inspired me to want to learn how to make, read and understand music.
I love this. Lately, I have really struggled with my motivation for my cover and music videos, because I keep questioning, whether it is good enough. It's really annoying, and considering it is a hobby for me, I figured what the h*ll, and now I've started purely doing my videos for my own enjoyment without thinking so much about, how other people might think of them. That has given me so much more motivation to record my music and videos! Sometimes it's just really nice to learn and create just for the sake of learning and creating :)
A famous producer in S.Korea says, “When it’s good, it’s good.” If you’re liking it for your own enjoyment, then it’s good and probably pretty close to being ready for the world - for the listeners who are going to vibe with your sound. Hi, i don't know how far ahead you are with music production, but i am currently beginning. I have been singing my entire life and never took action for anything else than that. now i have singing lessons, i am currently learning how to play the guitar and piano and the whole theory behind music AND i am trying to learn how to produce. The thing that has been helping me personally is to really indeed write down a complete schedule. I have been watching a lot of videos when it comes to producing on the channel Studio on RUclips. it is amazing and they all help me every video to make me understand it just a little tiny bit better

One thing that really helped me with music production was the concept that I had never thought of. The concept is everything's kind of equal mathematics, or loops with variations of changes. So if you play something play at four times then maybe another four times then have a breakdown and go into another loop with maybe something added or subtracted from it. This is called common time. Once you get the concept of common time everything just kind of falls into place.
You use the same program as I do and I love it that our producer community is growing more and more female. You girls get it! I think it's a great hobby to do when you're bored and that it takes a lot of patience to come to effective results. But: once you figured out some cool things you are so proud of you understanding the thing by yourself.

I watched this video after a stressful blast hour of trying to fix fl studio and getting frustrated after a lack of creativity, watching the beginning and seeing the struggle of creating just pulled me back into reality and helped calm me down. Helped me realize that I’m not the only one having these problems and I can overcome them.
God I love this video so much. Not only the content itself is great, but visually is so good! I'm also a songwriter and I've been struggling myself with music production, maybe I'll try too taking like an online course or something to improve!
When I started producing music(4 or 5 months ago), I was a COMPLETE beginner. No music theory, I didn't even know how to use any DAW. I'm here now working on my first album with a local rapper.

music production is sooo fun.. many people think that its a time waste, no career choice or even maybe they think its for dull people.. but its not trueeee attt allll... its been 5 yrs when i started producing and im still learning now im 18... funny thing about music production mark my words after learning and creating tracks upon tracks u will feel its not enough cause u will think that the stuff u r producing is bad or weak... we just learn producing more than more theres no end... and it makes me happy lol

I got through the basics in about 2 weeks. I was so frustrated and began shoutingat the lecturer when he just assumed we would know certain things and found myself jumping down the youtube rabbit hole just trying to clear up concepts that where mentioned. I managed to finish a song which was actually good, but there were still so many unanswered questions, which I have spent 2 years trying to clear up. I would also cry yes, because it opened up a whole can of worms making me realise how much there was to learn and it overwhelmed me.

I relate SO MUCH to writing my own songs and wanting badly to produce them. Maybe this year I can finally get better at it and release my babies into the world
i had chord progression ideas one time and this video brings them back but, i never tried to bring those ideas to life because i don't have enough money to afford for fl studio nor any good music program to start making music. but this does inspire me and motivates me to keep pursuing that desire of creating and producing music.
neither do i for now, but what saved me was an online DAW called soundtrap, it's super easy and intuitive and the best thing is that it has a free version very complete. i've been playing instruments and composing for fun since forever but during lockdown i gave a try to produce my music. im always recording ideas and making beats, i really recommend you to give it a chance too :)

This is how I feel currently. I love music. I always have loved music. I never thought it was something I could do. I did percussion in band and that’s about it. And currently I’m trying to go full throttle on it. I’m learning FL Studio. learning music theory (bit overwhelming) trying to brush up on drums since it’s been a long time. I found Ableton one of the hardest DAWs to learn. At least for myself I’ve been an Apple user all my life and was struggling with coming up with ideas and then I happened to learn Logic Pro and found it much more intuitive to work with. On the plus side I found learning Ableton first made learning other DAWs like Pro Tools, Logic, and FL studio much easier. Everyone will have their own preference.

I STARTED MY PRODUCTION JOURNEY IN JULY 2022 SAMEM REASON AS YOU, I HAVE BEEN SONGWRITING FOR YEARS BUT SAME ISSUES AS YOU, UNLIKE YOU I DID NOT HAVE ANY CLASSES OR TUTORIALS THOUGH, I HAD TO FIGURE OUT SO MUCH ON MY OWN. 5 MONTHS IN AND MY DEAR ALL I CAN SAY IS THANK GOD.

Whoo, I use Ableton as well. My advice to people starting out would be to learn all the shortcuts. The simple ones like inserting tracks, adding midi clips or saving projects are easy enough to find or know.
You have other ones like "Cmd + I" to Insert Time, Holding "Alt" to add a curve into automation, "Cmd + 1/2" for grid division and "Cmd + 3" for a triplet grid. Holding "Shift" in the piano roll to move midi between octaves rather than single note, "Cmd + Fn + Alt" to play from any selected point on the piano roll, etc.

This video is so inspiring. I really want to learn how to produce my own song, but I don't know where to start. I can create a melody and lyrics by using the acoustic guitar, but the thing is that there's more that I should learn to produce a song. Knowing that I have a long way to go to pursue it frustrates me and makes me lose hope, but I am still not giving up, and I tried to learn things by watching tutorials and reading about music. I smiled while watching the whole video. I am so glad that you didn't give up. Good luck on your song!
I'll be 14 in 3 months and I want to start producing music with my friends soon. I watched a few videos about how to get started and we're learning a few songs and changing them slightly to make covers. We're all asking for song making related things for Christmas (biggest one is audio interface) and can't wait to record our first song. A few weeks ago the guitarist of our group came up with a little riff and we started making a song. Its going really well, we have the guitar (obviously), the lyrics needs some changes but its almost finished, we got a drum beat and bass lines. My mum also has a friend who organises an event every year in May and we're thinking about playing some songs there. I hope our little band will expand one day 😊 thanks for this video!

@@writewithangelthere are some plugins like melodyne that do it for you, but I'm not sure of what other ones there are. You can search "how to turn vocal to MIDI" for a more accurate response

as a very much beginner music producer, i always get stuck on tracks and go really hard on myself when something doesn't sound the way i want it too. my best advice to any music producers out there is to pace yourself! if you're stuck on one track, start another completely different one, and come back to the one you were stuck on after you find inspiration again. keep learning new things and how to master your craft. for me, the hardest thing about music producing is coming up with new and unique ideas, but that's also the most fun thing. music production is an amazing thing that i think everyone should try at least once in their life :)
Hi Annie! I can relate to a lot you shared. I took Andrew Huang's music production class and it got me started on my production journey too. Since, I've released my own EP that I produced myself! Just keep going!! What helped me was having an accountability buddy. We had to make and then share one song with each other at the end of the week. Like you said also at the end of your journey, it helps to listen to others and listen to how they arrange (the specific parts). Sometimes producing a full cover helps too :D
Really wanted to study Music Production in uni but went for a business course instead. Now that I finally have no excuse to postpone/delay this (lol), I think it's time to start my journey. Thanks for the inspiration!

It takes around 3-5 years to learn producing at a consistent and high level and you should be doing well or alright after 2. so if you already know music and can play it, producing is the final piece of the puzzle that can take your creative skills to the next level

hi! i just started watching your videos recently and i was wondering if you’ve ever taken any classes/lessons for singing to sound so amazing? i recently quit choir because it felt like a lot of work and i was never having fun but when i sing a song i want to sing and write a song i want to write i have so much fun, but if it helps me sound better i’ll join it again! i was just wanting to know if you had any tips on how to improve?
if you want to get better at singing, the best thing to do is take classes but if you want to improve without taking classes i have two suggestions for you:
1. ask someone who isnt afraid of hurting your feelings for improvement for advice (for example, for me its my dad) then sing for them and ask them what you need to improve on (also make sure the person youve picked is someone who acctually CAN sing, becuase what might happen if you choose someone who is bad at singing you might get lead in the wrong direction) , and dont be afraid to experiment and ask them for their opinion on it.
2. watch videos on the internet, i know it seems very broad, but what i mean by this is looking at videos where vocal coaches are giving advice to their students and apply it to yourself, or even just watch the x factor and see what works for the judges and how they sing if you're really desperate.
those are the only things that are coming to mind right now, and this could be bad advice its just what worked for me!

Learning music production is super hard for me with too much to learn. 3 years in, I can make mix and master my tracks now but I’m still admire people who get into this craft.
First you need to get to know the daw, learn the music, sound designing then mixing mastering. You thought you know it all and then you find out about phase, comb filtering, aliasing, dithering, 3d mixing, headroom, dynamic bla bla bla. Endless knowledge. But the deeper you dive the better satisfaction comes out.

i been producing since the age of 14 in 2019 i found out about fl studio and played on it then got better
as years passed on
im still bad but my progress has gotten better i used another daw pro tools and learned it just in only 2 weeks
these daws are easy once you learn the basics now when i hop on each daw its like a muscle memory i know where everything is
