I felt quite emotional watching this, too. The entire molting experience is just so incredible. It is truly remarkable that he had legs, claws, a body inside his body, like he is two lobsters in one (even more than two as he molted before and likely will molt again). Makes one wonder, how many Leons are in Leon?
One of the most striking parts of the video to me was the comparison of the claws. It is incredible how the second claw "grew" but was a different claw. The teeth look exactly the same, as though it was the same claw growing. But it was an entirely different claw.

How weird it would be if humans moulted. You'd have to book time off work for it. "I can't come in today, sorry. I'm still feeling pretty vulnerable and my eyesight isn't 100% yet."
We'd get two birthdays as well, which reminds me:

Thank you for caring so well for this special little guy. Leon's new look is incredible, I love his lava coloured spikes on the claws. I relate to Brady on some level. I saved a campbells hamster from a home that didn't want her anymore and she lived for 3 years and a few months, an incredible age for her species. I believe she appreaciated her new large tank with lots of activities and a thick layer to dig her tunnels. She was calm, sweet, curious and never bit anyone, let me clip her nails with no problem. Giving an animal a second chance and seeing it flourish is a great experience.

Do you think Leon understands what's happening when he molts? Is it scary, or a relief I wonder. He's a trooper and very inspirational in a strange sort of way. Thank you for all you do for him.

He seems to know that's why he becomes more aggressive. He knows he's very vulnerable. As to whether or not he feels fear like we do is unknown. He seems to be attached to his old self as well. Very interesting and fascinating to watch. I really love these videos.

It's definitely a relief when all is said and done. He molts because his insides are literally getting too big for his old exoskeleton. But at the same time, he knows he's vulnerable until his new carapace hardens.

Ever since I was a little kid when I saw the lobster and crab tanks in grocery stores I wanted to do this. I remember back then thinking they were for pet adoption and embarrassing my dad because when he told me what they were really for I started crying loudly in the middle of the store. Lol! So glad to see Leon thriving. I'm always telling people about his videos and they think it's kind of funny at first until they watch them and end up getting invested too. We all love Leon at my house! Congrats on his second molt!

Congratulations Leon!! He looks so spiffy in his new shell with his shiny new claws! Watching him molt really makes me think about how challenging that process must be for lobsters in the wild. I’m glad Leon has a safe space to shed his old shell, and a good friend looking out for him, through it all. 💙

I can’t bear to think about what it feels like for them being boiled alive 😢 I love to see Leon living a better life than the one he was destined for, on a plate. It’s been a great informative and close up look on a lobster so far and looking forward to many more. 😊

I've always been vegetarian (well since my mom read me Charlotte's Web around 6 and then took me to Austria to her farming village!!). As a child growing up in New Orleans I remember when my family or neighbors would have "crawfish boils", I would always steel one or two and bring them to the levee and set them free. I think, without being preachy, Brady and Leon have probably saved many lobsters and maybe even other animals. Maybe even crueler then being boiled alive is being starved with claws tied together (imagine being starved with handcuffs) for weeks? months? Leon was probably broken and wishing for death when he was chosen from the tank and voila, he's a star of the internet, living the life, given treats regularly and getting better and better digs.
