    All you need is Strat
    Strat is all you need.
    And SG.
    Oh, and Tele.
    Um...Jazzmaster....might as well get a Jag to go with it...Baritone, can't forget one of those...yeah prolly need a Gretsch too.
    Hmmm maybe I need a 12-string....

    Gorgeous guitar! And you are using Guitar Rig? That is just crazy. Your tone is much better than 90% of the guitarist on RUclips. And your playing is just phenomenal. It is so simplistic, and yet you've found a touch of something unique. Cool!

    My 2006, or 2007 was $699.99 purchase brand new from guitar center, with hardshell TSA Fender case. Mine had the small headstock, I remember the year I bought it you could get both headstocks The same time you could get an American standard for $999.99, or $1099.99. It was right at the $1k price point.

    I’ve a 2004 highway one Strat in translucent red. I’d say the manufacturing is a myth. It was replaced by the Specials and now you’ve the Performer. I’ve a HW1 2007 Tele too and a HW1 2005 in trans red too. I love the finish. The acrylic comes off! I own 4 Fender USA guitars but I prefer my Fender MIMs!

    Mine is a 2006 black/rosewood HSS, but I swapped out all of the electronics with a 2012 American Standard loaded pick-guard w/ Fat 50s SSS and the Delta Tone circuit. Also swapped out the tuners for some vintage style Fender lockers and some Callahan saddles. Couldn’t be happier with her. I don’t want another Strat, but if I came access a 1st generation sunburst with a maple fretboard, I’d be explaining some things to my wife. Easily the best value in American Fender guitars. Several high end retailers do special run “thin skins” and charge a pretty penny for them. Just grab one of these!

    Hey Chris I live here in So. Cal. I've heard a lot of folk tales & myths surrounding the mim guitars PERIOD! THIS one is got what I call
    Non-bizarre delusions attached meaning it could be true..Sounds possible given Hyw 1 is that scenic route (surely not a Fender parts/guitar shipping route) thats used to travel primary North not South. Actually. Its hard to believe anything concerning this guitar. I was going to purchase one first year they arrived in NYC..Close to 20 yrs ago. My understanding was they were built at the Corona factory same style & manner as the American Special was produced..No funny midnight sneaking across the border in darkness and nefarious objectives...They are stripped down version of USA strat and I believe sonic wise far better than an USA standard at the time. Some had these thin matte nitro/lacquer finishes with a little overwound pups. As you showed perfectly the guitar screams STRAT....A strat TONE BOMB!
    So thanks for the demo. Don't sweat the little things enjoy your American made stratocaster. ITS a tone machine imho..
    Thanks Chris,

  • @matthewsmith478
    @matthewsmith478 5 лет назад +2

    2004 isn't pre internet! They're class guitars, especially the small headstock range that you have. I have one myself. The nitro finish makes it sing and they wear super quick on the road. The tuners are US but the eletronics are meh. If you switch them out, you've got a better guitar than a US standard. They switched to the big headstock because you were essentially getting an original headstock, spaghetti logo strat that was built in the US for buttons compared to the US ones.

    I own a 2003 crimson red translucent nitro finish Highway one with a maple neck. I purchased it new. The finish is a matte finish. My understanding at the time was that some parts were made in Mexico an assembled in California. I still have all of the original paperwork. It came with a nitro finish description card. Actually, somewhere I have a spec sheet straight from fender on the highway one. I had mine set up when I purchased it from Marshall music out of Lansing. I will never sell it.

    A buddy who died had one of these in a blue green color. We weren't quite sure what made it relatively inexpensive at the time either. In his case, it was a satin finish, I think. So, we assumed that there were corners cut on the instrument for the price. Played nice but needed a setup.

    @Chris Buck High way 1 does not go all the way to mexico, it terminates in Orange county (sought Cal)!
    affordable guitar hence the High way, and the number one represents the 1st edition, and for some reason after the 1st production line in late 2002 till 2007/08, Fender did not make them again, so no High way 2 or 3 etc,

      I totally agree. The excuse they give now is cost. The problem with that excuse is these were $300-$400 less then the poly finished American Standard strats of the day. Some say they were acrylic lacquer, which is fine too, most 60s strats were acrylic lacquer too, since the auto manufacturers had switched many colors to that in the 60's. It still wears great.

    Crazy, I have the EXACT same '04 Highway One Strat. I got mine in '08 from Austin, Texas.It was like brand new and cost me $ 590. It's a beautiful, well made guitar. The one unusual thing about it , the pickguard color has aged to a very dark beige shade. I like that, except the pickup covers have remained a bright white. I want cream p/u covers, but I hate to change anything! I like that it has early Strat features like headstock shape and the pressed steel saddles with 6 screw tremolo. In '05, they changed the Highway One with the large headstock, etc.

      Finwens Thank you man. I still use it occasionally; no doubt it’ll become my main Strat again in time! :) Me and the old man built that guitar many years ago, so it’s a bit of a Partscaster in that respect. Very, very nice guitar though - a lot nicer than it probably should be!

    Your story match waht i know about the california series made in USA shipped to Mexico for paint then back to US for assembly. See reverb add link reverb.com/ca/p/fender-california-stratocaster-electric-guitar
    Fender's California Series was manufacutred for a short time -- from 1997 to 1999 -- and were assembled in Fender's CA factory to be finished off in the Ensenada, Mexico factory. Three Tex-Mex pickups differentiate the basic California Strat from its HSS counterpart, and California Stratocasters are without Fender's notorious "swimming pool" route..
    To my knowledge Higway one are all american but with shorter paint process to cut cost

    The Highway One had a couple of "facelift" modifications on the second issue. The original (like Chris's) has the small headstock and gloss body. The parts are all from the American factory and it typically retailed at £645. Fender "facelifted" it a couple of years later with a large headstock, matt body finish model (still Highway one) In my opinion they are every bit as good as an American standard. When I get round to it I'm going to buy two, one of each issue and put the small headstock neck on the matt finish body.

      Blackbrooke Thank you so much man, that’s more than I’ve ever known! I currently own two; this one and a Sapphire Blue one that I’ll soon be spraying Olympic White. They’re both great guitars, although this one ^ is infinitely more ‘stable’. The neck on the blue one is constantly moving for one! As you said though, every bit as good as American Standards that I’ve played :)

    • @gitarild
      @gitarild 6 лет назад +1

      Actually, this strat would be the second issue of the HW1s. The first edition also had a matt(ish) finish, but in acrylic (the one in the video is in nitro, as stated). Picking up one of those acrylic ones was enough to make the finish start peeling off. Customers were not amused, apparently. I've got a 2002 to prove it...plays great though (although the frets need some maintenance after 16 years...)

      Ben Frost The pickups never impressed much and were changed to a set of Lindy Fralins. Necks and frets are matters of personal preference of course, but I do like this one. It does have a modern-ish feel I guess. And not the enormo frets that came on subsequent editions of the HW1.
