I’m almost right there with you. My two favorite axes in my arsenal are my old (early-90’s) Epiphone Sheraton Ⅱ with a pair of Duncan ‘59s and all hardware replaced to nickel, as well as my 2015 Fender American Special Telecaster. But my Shijie STE-Relic is winning me over quickly.
@@joeschlicht Go with the semi-hollow, 335-style first. IMHO, I think it’s a hair more versatile than a T-style. And, for me, that’s a difficult statement to make. Of course, gotta go with T-style first if you’re seeking a little twang. Nothing beats a Tele’s smack.

Also, about your playing. I like how you've basically reached virtuoso level while never ( apparently ) stretching beyond a fret per finger, rarely even using the pinky to solo, and just emphasizing pitch perfect bends, soulful vibrato, beautiful phrasing, and rock solid feel. Very nice, I am inspired to practice more.
It's so refreshing to hear someone play tastefully and melodically. People remember MELODIES in a solo not a blur of fast scales which only impress 15 year old male guitar enthusiast LOL. We would tune in to your podcast in record numbers if all you did was play over a tasteful track for a 30 minutes.

i am mesmerized by your talent. The sound and style you've developed sounds like a mix of Hendrix, Gilmour and Clapton with a touch of Rory Gallagher thrown in.
I'll say this: nothing has improved my technique more than getting a real Strat. I found it required a level of focus and precision I usually wouldn't have to make sure wrong notes and sounds didn't ring out. I find my Strat to be my most expressive guitar.
Whatever music store that was where you were demonstrating for Fender, I'm jealous of anyone that was fortunate enough to have wandered in. Lots of interesting tidbits in this video (as usual), but it was worth the listen just for your incredible noodling. Thank you Mr. Buck!

Add Chris Buck to that list of legends. Every time I hear you play I am inspired and need a decent Strat in my life. I have the Tele and the Les Paul but still find the right Strat elusive. I will stick with the Squier until it comes along.. 👍🇦🇺

I'll always argue that a tele is the most versatile, can take it from country, to jazz, to rnb, to rock, to metal gigs, but there's something special about strats. My main guitar is a tele for my gigs right now, but I'm a super strat player at heart
Dude! I don't know if it is the best guitar ever made, but your style is one of the best I ever heard. I just love your style. I wish I could play like you.
The Stratocaster is the finest ergonomic design I've ever played. The contours are perfectly positioned, making it super comfortable to play, and the control/switch layout lends itself to the natural sweep of the hand. The only thing I'd change (and I did on a few) would be to have a contoured heel. At one time I owned upwards of 17 guitars, and although I enjoyed owning the various designs, I thought I could easily distill the whole lot down to 4 guitars: 1) A standard Strat configuration with 3 single coils 2) A Strat with 2 humbuckers 3) A Strat with 2 P-90s 4) A Strat with a Tele bridge pickup and a mini humbucker in the neck
So, what do we think? Is the Stratocaster the best guitar ever? 🤔
