Some of you in the comments are still missing the point. Yes celebrities of all races are divorcing but only one coupling type is being used to manipulate black women and limit our options. The divorce rate is also the highest in the black community regardless if other race celebrities are divorcing at a high rate. Therefore trying to use Jodie and Tamar against black women who marry or date out is just another way to control black women. Let’s not miss or overgeneralize the message.

I think the fact that black women and white men are some of the most successful couples in this country is a flex. I think the reason the coupling works is because when it happens, it’s genuine and not forced. I fear that if some of us date out only cause we can’t stand black men, the numbers will take a negative hit. Black men date out cause they hate us. And that’s why their relationships fail with other races. I don’t want us to have that same mindset when dating out. I stand by that.

I think people are seeing much that life has to offer while it’s short lived. I’m married as well and believe that if there were something wrong, to speak on it and find solutions that helps a marriage stay afloat( now, if there is abuse or cheating going on in a marriage, then yes, breaking away from that person is recommended).
Today’s couples though are not trying to “ put in too much effort “ into something they have no faith in anyway. Life is short. They want to break free I guess🤷🏽‍♀️
I’d also like to add that in some cases, the spouse may see toxic behaviors and want to break from that asap.

I definitely agree with not reacting to these negative stories and being INDIFFERENT to things that seem like a negative look for black women. I don’t give these kinds of stories energy. I put my FOCUS and ENERGY into positive stories about black women. I really hope more black women do the same and start amplifying stories that are positive for us and stop giving energy to people/ channels/ accounts/ “celebs” that seem to be hard set on pushing a negative struggle narrative onto BW. One of the reasons for me dating out is what Chrissie said. Ever since I was in 5th grade (probably even before that), I’ve always been attracted to non-black guys. Majority of the time it’s been Hispanic or white guys. I liked an Asian guy at one point too.
I grew up in a diverse, multicultural environment and I’ve always been interested in other cultures, not even from a romantic standpoint. Hell, my major in college was International Studies lol I’ve always felt more comfortable around mixed groups as opposed to a predominant race.
I’ve never felt I was only limited to blk guys because they were never my first option. I’ve been approached by men of other races on several occasions. Also, my lifestyle/hobbies, etc seem to be on the same wavelength of non-blk men. With all of that being said, I’m 34 now. None of this is going to change.

I just came across a woman on here with misconceptions about why DSBW date out. She believes we date out because we want light skinned children. And we're colorist. We dont need white people to produce light kids as we are genetically diverse already. I also had to tell her colorism is putting down blackness as the reason to date out. DSBW collectively, do not tell men that others are better than them when we step out. We dont highlight their failures while uplifting others because we know men are men.
I had to comment and tell her black women date black men. But we go where we are appreciated which means we dont pass up on love due to race.
Im seeing everyone use their "issues" with black women to grow platforms. Meanwhile we're in a space where we are recognizing the beauty, and worth that we were led to believe didnt exist and I truly believe the world isnt ready for that one. 💁🏿‍♀️
These days we're on some "do whatever and leave us out of it" type of stuff. For some reason though they just have to incorporate us.

11:11 I had to be fully healed before dating and entering into relationships so I can be open and love someone how I want to be loved. I just cannot have trauma and other problems while trying to give myself to someone. I cannot focus on that person and their needs if I have my own issues dealing with. I'm glad I got over those because I'm in a happier place and walk away easily from something that doesn't or no longer serves me. It might sound selfish but I'm not getting into any situation unless I'm benefiting in some way. And best believe when I do walk away I'm walking right into dating again and being open for another relationship.

For me there were several thoughts I had about them .
First I wanted it to work for Jodie because of how she said she was treated by BM
Next it was my own personal crush of Joshua Jackson from when I was young
But honestly I felt uncertain about them and hoped for the best but her asking him to marry her felt like the wrong decision to make if you weren't going to do a long engagement and fully get to know and love things about each other also I felt she needed to probably holla at a therapist but that was just my thinking.
Joshua Jackson did frustrate me with him over sharing but he did seem to if not deeply love her enjoy who he was with but we can't know what she feels he failed at or where they failed together but as you asked him to marry you it shows he wasn't exactly on the same page yet.
Lastly I was worried if they rushed into having their kid I thought they should be focused on their partnership more than bringing a child in their situation but maybe they felt with their age they should have kids.
Lastly I'll say I can't relate to not being attracted to other races of men so I never related to BW who struggle with that. The only thing I focus on is our cultural differences. People might see it as me putting other races on a pedestal when that's just me being myself . The only thing I am doing on purpose is not entertaining BM based on the nonsense I'm not willing to deal with I'm not able to pretend the shit they do is okay. And if a white or Asian guy is doing similar things it's worse to me. 🤷🏾‍♀️
