Before my promotion we were very close. But after the promotion was made official they got this mean girls attitude. Since I didn't know where the change in attitude was coming from, I spoke to a lot of people (friends and family) about the matter. And the first thing they told me was: it's envy because of your promotion. The situation got so stressful for me that I finally went to HR and explained I couldn't work in such surroundings anymore. Luckily because of my good reputation at this company, HR immediately worked with my manager to remove these colleagues from my department. I'm happy I didn't get emotional publically about this matter otherwise people could have labelled me the angry black woman. Edit: also Chrissie thank you for being a voice of reason for black women. Great advice, Chrissie. I myself was in a position where I was targeted at my workplace by two female colleagues (one is white, the other black) who I was supervising. Before my promotion we were very close. But after the promotion was made official they got this mean girls attitude. Since I didn't know where the change in attitude was coming from, I spoke to a lot of people (friends and family) about the matter. And the first thing they told me was: it's envy because of your promotion. The situation got so stressful for me that I finally went to HR and explained I couldn't work in such surroundings anymore. Luckily because of my good reputation at this company, HR immediately worked with my manager to remove these colleagues from my department.
I'm happy I didn't get emotional publically about this matter otherwise people could have labelled me the angry black woman.

Ive tried to quit several jobs and was offered a raise or better position to stay.
