So a few weeks ago myself and a group of black women were having a discussion about this. A black girl in college said she felt lazy one day so she rolled out of bed in her sweat pants (pajamas basically) bonnet and all & went to her lecture class. Her professor pulled her aside and told her never to show up to her class like that again, because it’s not professional and she would fail her next time if she did. Can you believe this ridiculous girl said she showed up with not one but two bonnets 🤦🏿‍♀️🤦🏿‍♀️🤦🏿‍♀️ and her nightclothes just spite her teacher & they got into an argument. Said she felt “discriminated”...🙄 the problem with a lot of Black women is we feel like society should just always take us as we are, even if we are being problematic. This is the real world! Who do you honestly think is gonna take you seriously going out in public especially in a professional setting looking any type of way....? I know this is going to piss a lot of black women off but oh well, too bad! I applaud this principal 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

I respect your opinion. I also do think , if your going out in broad day light. But you shouldn’t judge black women for wearing at night, like a run to the drugstore. Or an short run out the house. I just think it’s weird when going out like that in big public places in daylight. But I think it’s fine to wear it for an short run out the house at night; to pick up an person or something or if you really have to get something.
I think it’s ok to have it on when you have to run out when it’s really URGENT, because if your running late to pick up someone close or to pick up someone at night in general......no one will notice.
An example, my mom would never step out of house to a public place with a bonnet.
But when she would drop me off at the bus stop IN HER CAR(she would not step out the car, unless it was to throw out garbage) She would still have her bonnet on, THEN she comes back to the house and dose her hair for work. But I also think it’s fine to wear a bonnet driving a car if you’re not going to step out for to long or not step out at all, because nobody should be looking inside a car while your driving (because that’s creepy and people need to be minding their own biz).
I just think it’s weird to come out in school or a big public space wearing a bonnet, but I don’t judge people’s personality on that. Because they could be In an certain place for an certain time to pick up or some other things are going on in there life that they need to rush to something. I don’t judge, I just observe🕵🏾‍♀️ But I sometimes see some black girls who actually well but together with an bonnet or an satin cap, they have nice clothes on, Jewelry and flattering makeup, and sometimes edges done. But most of the time, I see girls that look like they just got out of bed.

I came home from school and when my dad got home he asked how come I didn’t go to school. He found out that I had been to school in my pajamas. He went off on not just me, but my siblings. Telling us we can go out looking slovenly, he didn’t care what “them white kids wore” but when we go out the house we need to look presentable and at school look professional so they have no reason to not take us seriously. When I tell you he ranted and ranted. I wore a dress or a skirt to school till the day I graduated. In college I never went to school in sweats and flip flops. It’s not judge mental or unreasonable. It is important to put ourselves together and look presentable. I enjoy my morning "me time"....I also still make sure I'm put together before my husband comes home from work. No one wants to look at ugliness or raggedyness and no one should want to embarrass their kids or spouse. Other kids do make fun of parents. I was a stay at home mom and would always put myself together before dropping my child off. My husband would always get upset about it.
One day he dropped off our son and saw a mother looking hot mess. After observing this, he called me and said he will never complain about the time I spend making myself look presentable.

What they would do in a neutral world is assign a BW reporter to do the story... but notice they had a bunch of well-put-together WW reporting instead? Deliberate. BW need to get smart.
That lady was going to enroll her child... and THAT is the 1st impression she wants to leave? SMH.
A lot of these women can get fancy for the club but act like their kid's school or the grocery store is their backyard.

This principle is simply setting guidelines and helping these parents learn, these parents just don’t know and probably don’t have the understanding or the background. Very sad but true. Being a single mother has nothing to do with a women leaving out the home not representing her self or child accordingly. This is a choice and some mothers who may be single, married or otherwise really believe walking out the home such as this is okay when it is not. Hopefully these women have someone in their lives to guide them towards being more feminine at all times. I had no one to teach me and it took time but it is possible. I do agree with the dress code.
