To the SJW’s: Most of us are aware that political activism afforded us the luxuries we have today. Just because systemic justice and wealth are inherently connected doesn’t mean every single movement has to address both simultaneously. There’s a class system that keeps people of ALL races from accessing luxury yet they are still able to enjoy the idea or the image of themselves enjoying it ON ITS OWN. They don’t mix escapism with complaints about classism even if the two are connected. Black people are disproportionately affected by classism so I understand why we want to discuss it, and its okay to, just not in THIS movement. Doing so completely undermines its purpose. Got it? Ok, bye💁🏾‍♀️

@@melleb916 I personally think some black women are so used to the struggle and lack of promotion that embracing trauma is the only thing that makes sense. While I'm not rich I enjoy seeing on social media all races of females enjoying luxury but I also personally love seeing when its a black female because its highlights the possibilities.

Not everything has to be about politics and the struggle all the damn time! When I look to a luxury lifestyle it's to enjoy and relax SJWs are so defined by the struggle the can't even engage in r&r or nice things. It's really very tragic to watch!!!

Chrissie, i feel compelled to share an experience just based on the topic of your video. about 4 years ago, my hubby got a 8 nights, 7 days stay into a luxurious chateau, spa wellness center. It was in the alpes, so we went. From the moment we arrive, we were taking care of. Even the gifts that was left in the room for us was like a wow. Anyways, as usual I was the only black person, until the fallowing day, I nearly fanned out but keep it to myself when I saw this black American woman with her husband and her daughter which was then handed to a nanny. Then at dinner, thus group of professional American players came in , about 12 of them and 8 was black, they were all join by their partners, again the only two of us black women there. Down stairs was this Hugh shopping center of luxury. I went inside and was looking at some bags , it was what they called the free hour. That means it's the only time that you're not taking care of by the place. The very well known , very tall black American man walk in , he started to pointing at stuff and said to his girlfriend that he wanted all that for her. Then came in some professional men from my country with amongst them two of their wives was black. They were not ordering anything just sitting and starting our finest champagne. So while I was exiting the place to go back to get my pressoteraphy and body cleansed done, this black American professional woman, smile at me and i said hi. Her french was excellent . I told her that I am a fan etc. She ask me if I wanted to return in the shopping center like. I said ok, she added that she have only 15 minutes free time. She did not ask me what I do, where I'm from , only if the guy was my hubby. I said yes and how we are married since I was 18. Anyways this woman takes up two things and Baugh them. When we was about to go our separate ways, she said to me, please to meet me, I said it's a pleasure for me too. She handed me the same gift she gifted herself. I was in shock and I said to her how I will have room service sent her sole fine wines. She said I must not to worry, she have a home and also a portion of a winery. From that time and days later, i have not seen her, not even to thank her. The gift she gave me, i could not afford to give myself even if I work for 3 months. Anyways, this is all to say to black ladies, please go out there and dont afraid to use your last coin to treat yourself because you never knew who you might Cale across. Now I will listen to Chrissy video.

For black women to lead better lives, and find luxury, the answers are quite simplistic. If you desire to be financially secure, dont have children, unless you are either married, or in a committed, monogamous relationship, with a partner, who is upwardly mobile, and gainfully employed. If you desire a well paying position, pursue a degree in science or technology. The town I live in is filled with black women, who have bachelors and masters degrees, in sociology, childhood development, and "underwater basket weaving", but with degrees like those, these women are financially strapped from high interest student loan debt, which will keep them broke for decades. If you want to have satisfying, healthy relationships, quit dating and breeding with "thugs", "bums", "goons", and ex-convicts. Please remember these 2 things: 1. As a black woman, your futures are not pre-ordained, you have no fate but what you make for yourself...2. There are not enough "Russell Wilsons" to go around.

The need to mammy and mule for the black community is ridiculous. What you focus on grows. The more I realized I deserve a life of ease, adoration, luxury and peace more opportunities appeared for it. We need to realize the feeling of deserving is key always.

But as soon as they see other BW in that exact same luxury, suddenly her existence becomes worthy of think pieces and conversations on race politics.
Why can’t we just exist without our existence being political in some way? Why can’t we enjoy a vacation without our community getting bothered and needing to discuss oppression politics?!
It’s like, BW aren’t allowed to breathe without oppression being forced in our faces. We can’t unwind. We can’t relax. We can’t decompress. The community won’t let us. It’s sick.
Nobody brings up these conversations when wealthy BM are showing off their cars, jewelry, mansions, and designer clothes. They make US the face of oppression and suffering. And that has real repercussions. We are out here with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and trauma because we aren’t allowed to exist as human beings.

You know what’s interesting? I perceive this whole masculinity vs femininity dichotomy so backwards compared to most people. I have always seen black people as more hyper expressed in their gender traits. I think the men are hypermasculine and the women are hyper feminine. I think people say they aren’t either because we associate masculine and femininity as good and people don’t see black people as good. To me black women are hyper feminine with the weave, nails, gender specific slogans and vernacular. No other race really does that. White women pretty much speak the same as white men. I think western culture just values a more muted palette of gender traits. Basically people consider black people “team too much”. Black women are very feminine but just more flamboyant and boisterous compared to other races. I think saying that they aren’t feminine is inaccurate. Just my 2 cents though.

    • @Mae-gl3mk
      @Mae-gl3mk 3 года назад +54

@Weave Head That does not make sense. Looking traditionally masculine is having muscles/ being ripped. Black women don’t look like that. We aren’t some cult that only dresses a certain way or we all have the same body. We are not a monolith, we are individuals. If you’re offended that most black men want a masculine role while acting traditionally feminine, then that’s sad. Black women don’t look masculine, you’re just blind. @@dantan1249 this is an interesting perspective! I will say a lot of what makes us choose these things to make us look “hyper feminine” is as a result of our natural state being deemed masculine and “not of the standard”. We add all that false stuff to emphasize our chosen gender role, since others perception of us is already skewed else where. Some days I still struggle to wear my natural hair out because I fear I look too much like a boy, when in reality this is how a natural black woman looks - and it’s normal and okay. Why people try to limit BW is astounding. I'm all for enjoying a luxury lifestyle AND helping my community. I believe the early womanists who paved the way, did so for this reason.

Yep. Most BW who are on the luxurious/ carefree tip actually also donate to charities, mentor young BW, etc. And just their mere presence defies the social hierarchy and expectations. I'm not sure why some BW think it's revolutionary for BW to struggle and be miserable all the time. This is expected of us, it's not an F-U to society. We're expected to be mad, bitter, grieving all the damn time.
All the rebuttals the lady had about BW's issues romantic relationships, childbirth, etc. ARE often addressed in these spaces: hypergamy, being open to dating interracially, #noweddingnowomb/ family planning, investing into our fitness/ nutrition/ mental health... "we" already know what we have to do to minimize these issues: a lot of BM (and BW ironically like the lady) have to be left behind and disregarded for the most part. No more letting BM hold us back just because they are black. No more letting weak-minded BW guilt us into pandering to and humbling ourselves for BM to feel better.

They’re overthinking it. The whole level up movement has done more for me than the new age woke movement. It introduced self care into my routine, improved my physical and mental health; I’ve lost weight, I started dressing better, all while on a strict budget. I shopped at the thrift store and bought make up from drug stores. Trips are are hella cheap right now. Pampering yourself doesn’t have to cost much. They are ignoring the fact that any movement can be a money-grab; we have seen that in activist and pro-black spaces over the years.

I've been experiencing something lately. I've been on my feminine journey for a few years now. And I think now it is natural to me. Not forced and it exudes. People on the street open doors for me. And I let them do it with a genuine smile. They offer to lift things for me and so on. Even women offer to do that for me. It is just a strange but good feeling. And I enjoy it. For a long time I did not allow myself to enjoy things, and now I do. Buying nice things for me and enjoying it without guilt. It is just such a good feeling 🥰🥰🥰. I did not know about this movement but I am all for it. black women and luxury

Let’s not act like back in the 50’s & 60’s that Black people were not dressed really well regardless of their financial status. Dorothy Dandridge and Dihanne Carol are held to a high beauty and Luxary regard. It’s called balance.

The problem is that BW, esp us of the darker skin tones, aren't supposed to put our own comfort and luxury 1st, we're supposed to be attack dogs for the community.

Honey, show them through your actions that they can kiss you where the sun don't shine. I rep my DS sisters hard, and it's time for you all to stop being the attack dogs. Let their " preference" be the attack dogs. I'm what they come to when they can't get white, Asian or biracial, and yet, I'm sitting my ass down. Even I'm not their preference, I'm just their ESCAPE GOAT. It's long over due for you ladies to bask in comfort and Luxury.

While I agree with what she was saying, it's been years that black women have been male identified, and not embracing or basking in our femininity. We deserve vacations, bags, luxurious items, and other things other feminine groups get to enjoy. Y'all, this is just my opinion, but I'm done worrying about "bigger fish". I'm tired of always fighting and having this unspoken chip on my shoulder as a black woman. I want to be able to unwind and rest in the femininity that I have a right to from birth. I'm sorry... I can't get down with some feminists personally. 🤷🏾‍♀️

  • @theredrubyclub

Here’s my opinion on this: I absolutely agree with your points. Luxury is different to every woman. Where as some women may want to be able to go out and get their nails done, buy a birkin bag or have a million dollars in the bank others may want to go home to their well-off husband and kids and have a movie night. All of these are luxuries depending on who you’re talking to. For example, something like my home which is a 600 sq ft studio apartment with a huge bathroom is a luxury for me! I’ve designed it to where it’s really cozy and peaceful. It’s my safe place from this crazy world I live in. I pay up my rent for months at a time so I dont have to stress about bills and I just rest in my femininity until it’s time to grind again. This is how I live in luxury and preserve my femininity until I eventually get married. I intend on getting married to a man who’s going to take care of me (regardless if he’s a millionaire or not but someone who’s finiancially secure, so I can focus on being a mother and a wife). The “black women in luxury” movement is very important! I’m in such a better place mentally and financially because I’ve decided to create a luxurious and leisure life for myself. 🥰❤️

I have pictures of my great- grandmother frolicking on the beach in the 1920's......so yeah, miss me with all of this struggle vs. luxury emotional blackmail. As far as I'm concerned, my great-grand mother set the standard for the women in my family to follow way back in the day when it was arguably harder for Black women to just be. So whether I'm sipping coconut water and rum or glasses of champagne, I am going to enjoy my life, travel, and fight the power as needed.

But we can walk and chew gum at the same time, we know it's not all about buying shoes. We know it's not all materialistic but when have we EVER had the luxury of just being materialistic???? Can we just enjoy not having to struggle without finding a whole new fight? Goodness! 😌

I felt that the jealousy was showing clear as day from the woman who created the video and it made me sad. I’m not rich but I indulge in “luxury” ; traveling every chance I get and being posh. It also feels good to say that my darker skinned sisters are leading this luxury “movement “ and look absolutely spectacular doing it. It’s amazing

Black women need to learn to relax. The women saying we don't have time for relaxing and luxury make me wonder - do they ever read a book, do they ever go to a party? Do they ever take a minute to go and hang out with friends where they don't discuss all the problems in the world? If they ever do then they don't have to worry about the black girl luxury movement. Because like it or not, they are already a part of it to some degree. So at some point they just need to chill.

I'm so glad my grandparents spoiled me growing up without politics involved. My grandma took me shopping for makeup, clothes, on nice vacations, money for good grades, to get my hair done, to fine dining restaurants and everytime my grandfather would pay if we were all together. I didn't realize how much that helped me develop my femininity and ability to receive until I got older. It's okay to enjoy the finer things in life and does make you feel good! When I'm enjoying luxurious things I'm not thinking about politics! I'm thinking about enjoying the moment and relaxing...so is everyone else. That young lady on TikTok needs sit down and eat some food from Capital Grille. Don't ruin it for everyone else😑

Kind of hard for a black woman to enjoy "luxury", when she has 4 kids, by "Pookie" and "Ray-Ray", or if she has over $100,000 in high interest student loan debt. How does a black woman enjoy "champaign" on a "beer" income?
