    My husband and I have been nomadic for five years. For three years we bopped around Europe and it was amazing. 18 countries! We're back in the states because of family stuff and we're miserable. We are discussing where we'll settle in the future. I've traveled abroad since I was a teen, but when I actually lived in places for three to 15 months and became part of community in other countries, it changed everything. We lived in Albania for a year and I remember I was at the fish shop down the street and decided I wanted to add a bottle of wine to my order. I was going to walk back up the hill to get more money and the owner was like, "Why are you doing that? Just pay me the next time you're over here." I was literally confused. He said, "You're my neighbor. I know you." That was it.
    We had so many experiences like that in Europe, it was crazy. Leaving my bike outside of the grocery store for hours unchained in Finland. Not a soul bothered it. Getting on the bus with the wrong ticket and being told I could ride for free because the driver didn't want me to miss my flight. Just the we were treated was night and day to the US. I can't wait to leave again.

And my aunt who is coordinating the trip was asking me during my medical leave, when I was going to pay for this family vacation? I feel like I am the only one struggling. Consider housesitting to get some some travel at a lower cost because the accommodations are taken care of and since you’re usually in a house or apartment, you can cook a lot of your food. When I quit teaching, depressed, PTSD, I managed by housesitting for like 8 months till I could get myself together.

    I need help leaving economically without being followed socially and technologically. Thankful for your channel. I was brought to the United States by my mother at age two. I never had a choice to chose a country. My Haitian family members did. They stated the United states was better than Haiti. But all of them are starting life from 0$ and I am starting off with 67,000+ unsubsidized interest and low paying job positions in the same county I went elementary, middle, college in. I am dealing with my resentment of being cast away economically and I am trying to do what you guys did. Pay them their money back and chose a better social/economic community.

    • @sweetandsimple.
      @sweetandsimple. Месяц назад +8

      To remove the resentment, try to look at it as they tried to do what they thought was best for you (and it technically was). They gave you a life of options you wouldn't have if you stayed in Haiti. It's unfortunate you have debt but you're privileged to be able to earn money in a currency that can get you far in many other countries. You can go somewhere with a low COL work online and be able to pay down your debt plus there's other ways to pay it down. Lots of great resources on RUclips on how to lower debt. Stay positive cause the life these ladies preach is within your means. Get a pen and paper and start creating a plan. You got this!

      Nothing wrong with leaving the US for good. Thousands of “US Immigrants” have left their birth place for the US by choice. Now they are running back home!. Life in the US is NOT the bed of roses it looks like from the outside. No sick days from work; no free health care; one day in hospital cost thousands $$. People work 2-3 jobs to make it financially; no home life; women don’t cook, give little kids junk food for supper. Divisive politics is the MAIN religion. What’s so great about life in the US? Girls, blacks people were not born for winter. For you “Christians”, even Adam and Eve did not have winters to put up with !!😂 cheers to the Exodus group 👏

    Here’s the thing- now, these ladies are well-traveled whereas I’m minimally-traveled; thus, I’m NOT refuting ALL of their claims altogether. However, I also want us to be honest when we talk about being abroad for extended periods or even living abroad. I get that we as black people (especially women) are constantly trying to find our place in the world, while combating racism & modern day slavery via work. However, all countries have issues & opression.And if you’re involved in your local community, you WILL start to know of the issues within that community. Mauritius, for example, has a HUGE drug problem for locals, from what I understand. While visitors see the beauty & luxury of the place, the black people there who are locals are HIGHLY oppressed & impacted by addiction, drug cartels, & the travel industry exploiting them. We can go anywhere in the world & choose to live like we’re always on vacay- but if we are in the world doing God’s work & His will, you WILL face persecution & challenges in between your abundant blessings, regardless of location.
    I agree that you can be a new person in a new place- I also agree that we need to be financially free & smarter about work. But systems are FOR SURE in place to oppress the people everywhere…we just happen to be blessed enough as Americans abroad to have access to what is typically considered luxury in other places for locals, whereas the locals often become YOUR “Help” & modern day slaves. 😢
    With US’s ties & power (& the diminishing international relationships in many places), eventually, US’s political & social problems will ultimately impact many US citizens/expats in many other places over time, depending on their alliance with or opposition to the U.S.
    Truth is, we can’t run from the responsibility of being a human & taking care of one another… we also can’t party/eat/drink & earn ($) away all of our time, thinking that’s all we’re going to experience because we’re not in the US; we can choose to ignore life’s issues for as long as possible, but we will eventually feel the harsh effects of ignoring it/ ignoring God’s will for our lives.🤷🏽‍♀️
    LASTLY- we can’t ignore that these women are older & are each single; I agree that you can find your husband ANYWHERE. But if you’re serious about someone where you live & he can’t go, don’t just “follow your heart”; follow GOD’S will! If His will is for you & your guy to marry & do God’s work, then that’s what really matters. What they don’t know is, our hearts are deceitful; that’s why God’s will is important to follow. Just something to consider IF you are a believer.
    That being said, traveling is so fun & exciting, & I DO recommend it in between life’s realities. 🤗❤🙏🏽

      I am not specifically a Crist follower, but I respect all religions and what you are saying about the just exploitation of the poor and often people of color, though not exclusively around the world you know is a sad reality for sure. And it does weigh on me and yet it’s like you know how much can I do and like all our ancestors how can I best survive, which is what all peoples were about they would nomad they would move for food hunting grounds land, escape War zones so this has been going on since the beginning of time. I mean humans looking for the best they can.

      Wow this is a lot … how about keeping it simple? There is a lot of fear 😨 in the statement.. then the last part … the entire read was a headache.. especially the male centered part … men and women come and go 😮live your life !!

      I am a believer with the full understanding of the importance of being in God's will. Every believer knows to seek the Lord in prayer for these type of major life decisions. Now remember, God is a GLOBAL God. Not just the God of the U.S. Wherever you go on this earth, you take the Holy Spirit and the gospel of Jesus Christ with you, right? Remember, God sometimes even unctions people to move to other countries. Traveling, vacationing and actually living abroad are separate things. Living abroad is not a vacay everyday. It's a new cultural experience that's different for each person/family. These 2 women are single in their 40's early 50's, but there are many older, and younger, married with/without children, Christian and otherwise who have successfully made moves abroad. Many are in ministry in their new countries. They are not running away from responsibilities, but in many cases, they are running to their God-given destinies. Jesus came that we might have life and that more abundantly. For some, the abundance is outside of the U.S. God's plan is not the same for everyone. You can learn a lot from these ladies and many others who have expat knowledge. Take only what's for you. God Bless. 🙏♥

    OMG! I've been quiet leaving my job for years.😅 I want to thank you so much for addressing the women loving women. No other welcome abroad videos mentioned this. I'm doing my own research on that. My wife needs to be convinced but I think the political condition in the US will do it. Great video!
