    I start crying the moment she says, “It does not escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is thanks to so much pain in someone else’s.“ And then she goes on to thank Patsy, the person she portrayed the movie. Such grace and eloquence. One of the finest Oscar speeches I’ve ever heard.

      @@pankajbisht150 in the movie she was nominated for, she played a black slave that was treated cruelly by her masters. She was saying that without the pain and suffering that slaves went through, she wouldn't have starred as one and therefore she wouldn't have received her oscar nomination... hope that helps!!

    Because of this Speech-- I named my daughter Lupita, born this year 25th of October… I wanted to remember this, 8 years ago when I was watching the awards, I was so moved by your speech, I was all emotional: I cried and I felt identified….And I promised myself to honor Lupita…To my Lupita this is for you and I know one day you will get to see this comment!

    The way she delivered this speech is the reason I tear up every time I hear it, she’s a phenomenal woman and I’m so happy for her for putting up with this hard journey receiving closed doors and lots of “no’s” to finally becoming the successful woman she is today! Lupita you inspire me and so many others to never give up and I hope you know that you are loved by so many and we’re here to cheer you on !!
