You can't recalibrate the setting ring? If you take it apart to clean and can't get the 0 on the setting ring back to the 0 point, all of your recipes need to be adjusted, no?
Actually, it is ONLY recommended to adjust the grind setting finer while the grinder is running. You can adjust coarser while the grinder is off, but as there are always left over coffee grounds inside the grinder, moving the burrs closer together could trap those grounds between the burrs, not allowing you adjust the burrs to a finer grind setting at all. Most grinder manufactures don't mention this in the documentation.
So long as you can grind the sizes you need at the currently values displayed, how important is it to actually find the zero point ? Not interested in damaging the burrs, especially since the market does not have replacement burrs yet for this machine.

Don't turn the grinder on! Just turn the burrs by hand! It's both dangerous and damages the burrs.

Not much. But there is still a value to find out how much room that you have left if you need to grind it finer😀
